@Rylan Sim I got mine for Christmas this year and it works, did you put the mode on fast and then put in the filament, it takes 15 seconds until it comes out when you just put it in, also why did you touch the top, it’s spitting HOT plastic string.
Thank you so much. My 3d pen is arriving today and I can't wait to get to practicing. I did make the mistake of watching well pros, lol, making amazing things and making it look easy. Your videos address helping me understand that much more was going on that they were not showing. You have a sub for life here. Keep them coming. The pen I ordered SCRIB3D P1 3D Printing Pen with Display is probably the most beginner pen I could find with temp and speed control. Let me know if this is decent I know I will be advancing as I get better but thought this was a good cheap start.
Glad to hear my videos were helpful! The pros take many many hours to make the creations they show, so don't get discouraged if things take longer than you expected. Good luck and have fun with your new pen.
Best tutorial vid I’ve seen. I’ve just ordered a 3d pen. No idea how to use it but this video has made me excited for its arrival. Thank you for the info my friend and love from England 🏴. Stay safe. Stay bless.
Thanks for this introduction, it answers so many unthought of (noob) questions. One thing I need to ask: I am unfamiliar with wax paper - it's not prevalent in my part of Australia - I have obtained some but I don't know which side is used for the projects. I assume it is the waxed side, but I'd appreciate your advice. Many thanks.
This is awesome. I use the exact pen in my classroom and instead of having multiple demonstrations and driving me crazy, I can tell them to watch this! Sanity saver!!!
Isn't it great! You dont have to do your job anymore. When ever one of your students has a question just redirect them to youtube. Plus you can put your mind at ease knowing that they received an intelligent response from youtube rather than from some lazy half asser poor excuse of a professional who aint worth a pot to piss in.
Hello there! What would u suggest to avoid loose pieces of filament? Basically... how can i be sure that the PLA is going to stick with the paper surface?
important tip, don't buy a very cheap 3d pen for practicing before buying a good one. i bought one that cost 8$ and that included a lot of filament. the pen "works" but only have 2 speed settings. really fast and insanely fast! also, it has no temp control. but the worst part is the constant need to preheat it. even while using it! every time i pause for more than a second, i have to wait 20-40 seconds to reheat it.
Thanks for sharing this. Adjustable temperature settings and a button/slider that can change speed settings on the fly (and provide more than just 2-3 defined speed levels) are a must have for me, on any pen I buy now. Pausing like that also sounds like a complete deal breaker. Can you share the manufacturer and model of pen, so people (myself included) know to avoid it?
I love the idea of this but I had one as a present and couldn't get it to work at all. That was a few years ago so I'm thinking of giving it a go again. I love making wee models.... Is it worth trying again? Do they work and last? Enough to satisfy an artist and adult?
I just heard about a 3D pen tonight. I don't know what they are. I'm very basic. I know more than I did. You mentioned direction being important. Is there a setting for us lefties? I always go left-to-right as most left-handed people.
Nice video , I just got one for Xmas but I'm wondering as a Lefty if I'm going to struggle with the buttons. Sounds odd I know but a lot of things are never realised as it's just natural
Search for PLA filament. You can buy lots of different kinds through Amazon. I added a link to a PLA plastic filament sample pack that is good for starting out, into this video description.
Nice video. I just got my 3D pen. Just a very noob question: The manual doesn't mention any way to turn it off. Do I just unplug it (after removing the filament)? Mine looks almost like yours, except without the temperature controls (it only has a PLA/ABS setting).
One of by biggest struggles using a 3D pen is my cat is bound and determined to either chew the power wire, or chew the filament. Another struggle is my hand shaking uncontrollably.
I understand the 3d pen shown in video is no longer available, but what kind was it? It looks slim and easy to hold and manage. I have a 2nd hand scribbler I bought off ebay and it is too big and clunky in my hand. It is awkward and I don't like it at all. 3doodler looks even more huge and cumbersome. Can you suggest a compact easily handled pen?
I took your advice and bought waxed paper... and the PLA plastic ended up being too difficult to peel off! I may have to invest in a transparent silicone rubber baking sheet.
Hey, long shot this gets answered but I feel like I would really like a pen with some sort of lever that manually extrudes the PLA, is that something that exists and I am not having luck finding it, or would that be too problematic somehow long term for a pen with the heat internally? Even if it was shaped more like a glue gun I think I would prefer that control over the amount of pla coming out.
I want to use a 3D pent to join two TPU pieces together (cell phone cover) around the edges, but i want to use TPU as filament. Do any of the pens work well with TPU?
Thanks for sharing! Very Helpful. I own a 3D printer and was looking for a way to fix blemishes and a more seamlessly way to join parts together. Traveling with a 3D pen this easier. Any tips and trick to better is greatly appreciated (nubbiest mistakes )

Ah, I see. I like this idea and will definitely keep it in mind. Thanks!
