To summarize: in duality your conscious awareness appears in the universe. In non-duality the universe appears in your conscious awareness. They’re two sides of the same coin. Duality is what you experience when you believe your thoughts about your experiences. Nonduality is what you experience when you focus on your sensory input without paying attention to your mind’s interpretation of that input. The funny thing is that I think most people have already experienced no separate self, and it just wasn’t that big of a deal. If you’ve ever “lost yourself” in a book or a movie, or been “in the flow”, where it seemed like your body was on autopilot and was just doing its thing with no “you” controlling anything, then guess what. That was the experience of no separate self. Congratulations! Once you’ve recognized the illusion it becomes easier and easier to see through. Douglas Harding’s Headless Way provides fantastic methods for experiencing non-duality.
That's a fine explanation. Even though I 'get it', and indeed have experienced what fits the description of 'flow' when motorcycling or drumming for example, trying to pin it down and stabilize it in the course of a session is proving a challenge.

Two vibrations that appear separate yet harmonize then become one, however, if there is no harmonic resonance between the two then there is dissonance, not harmony
So non duality doesn’t literally mean that everything is one? More that everything is connected and part of one? There is a lite between a tree and the ground, but not a line that separates them, more a line that connects both. So the difference between me and a chair is that we are different aspects of the same thing. Like the 2 sides of one coin. Like two different dream characters are manifestations of my whole psyche. They are not the same, but their source so to say is the same thing. I also imagine it like these cards that start to look different when you tilt them. Every time god looks into a hole it sees the exact same movie but from different angles. One for example being through my eyes, one through yours, one through my cats and so on. Is that correct? Non duality doesn’t mean everything is the exact same thing, but everything is an aspect of the only thing in existence? There are no clear lines between different things, but they are different because they are different aspects?

That's what I'm communicating. There is no methodology ultimately! You can do self-inquiry, Non-Duality meditations, or listen to talks. They can help on the relative level. But ultimately, you already are this Consciousness Appearing. It's just the mind and feelings that come in and appaear to tell you otherwise
Seems like so many of those who follow a Guru or sit in Zazen, meditate for years, never cultivate the “observer”, perhaps for a few minutes. My thoughts are that there must some “ingredient” or method that brings about the epiphany, the realization, that you are not your conditioning.
Non-duality seems like a simple concept to understand, but I've had a hard time grasping it intuitively. I think it's because I'm too stuck in the "duality" universe/dimension. Most of my suffering boils down to me feeling so disconnected. I constantly feel like a glitch. Like I wasn't even meant to be part of whatever this world is. It's dehumanizing.
It's more experiential than a concept. In other words, it's beyond beliefs. You can see it as wearing a VR headset you're wearing, but without you being able to take it off in a sense (trying to articulate it). Only, there is no avatar. You can't see yourself, you are literally the one consciousness wearing the VR headset in a sense. Words cannot properly describe it. I also understand your suffering, because just like you I am going through the big evolutionary step human consciousness is taking now (from perceived personhood, to universal consciousness identity). This step is a leap. It takes time, and can hurt a lot if the ego/person hood, obviously built on rigid beliefs, is dissolving and going away. Have patience with yourself. Know that the pain and suffering is a part of the evolutionary process of shedding this old paradigm of identity. The mere fact that you understand it in concept means you have come a long way. Patience
And what of "individuality" vs "dividuality"? The reason that my Being asks is because, my Being itself is a "dividual", as opposed to an "individual". So what say you about those who are nonhuman, that are "dividuals". 🤔
Because you're expecting an experience of time, because that's what you usually experience. In deep sleep there is no experience of time but Awareness isn't broken
Duality and non duality are both true and they're noth equally true. Paradox? Yeah, but the closer you get to absolute truth the more paradoxes you'll find.
Love the visual, but I think the dream bit is going to confuse people. I find that nonduality seekers already believe they don't exist and that's their biggest barrier.
Gave me a good idea of how to explain it though. Our brains use the exact same mechanism to process reality that is used in a dream. Processing, however, is processing once we stop projecting on either the object that the mind is trying to process or the experience of processing then we are in wide awake land. (I just made that last bit up :)
"God cannot know himself but by me!" - Meister Eckhart Can the entirety of Mind be fully perceived (by Consciousness, us) unless thought/ego/duality is included? How else can non-duality be known/experienced, though, but by duality? Ultimately, non-duality Reality/Universe is time/spaceless. Non-dual Reality is a Singularity! The 'tempo-spacial' illusions of duality allow Consciousness something that 'lasts long enough' to appear/perceive, and appear to have actual dimensions (11 at last count? ;) to perceive, and last long enough to allow intimate, precise, in-depth micro-fine examinations of that which is perceived, that which exists. ;)
You say „11:11….and you realize that this Consciousness that you are can appear as anything and can appear as any dream“ Non Duality says: There is no you ! It is dreamed as Consciousness too. Consciousness is - I am here, I exist - this is the Illusion. There are teachers, with Methods and so on…..
Good explanation but the whole issue is, in my opinion, irrelevant. It isn't just me who is a separate individual. All the other things are separate from each other as well. All the objects and people (and me) are all part of the universe but they are all still separate. In a field of daffodils each plant is a separate thing even though they are all part of the same group. I am part of the universe. I am part of one reality, one group of objects, one group of animals, one group of people but that doesn't mean there is no separation. In any case what difference does it make. We still live in our reality as it appears to us. It seems to me that non-dualists are inventing a problem and turning cartwheels to solve it.
Based on you comment, non duality will tell you that all the seperation you see is your subjective experience not universal truth. Afterall only you are seeing the seperation, and even the seperation of other things are too you own subjective experience. Words and senses are putting an obligation on you to experience seperate not free will. Non duality is about realisation not becoming an another content in your mind.
I think that the "real nonduality" is both oneness and separation but also neither at the same time. This conceptual distinction between duality and nonduality is also duality. 'Real nonduality' is beyond comprehension. To understand it, you need to throw logic out of the window.

Non-duality have become the new buzzword on internet and RUclips. Everybody seems to want to talk about and explain the non-dual reality of our experiences. Does these people know what non-duality really means? The nature of true non-duality is such that there can only be one form of non-duality. In that sense it is the ultimate state. The ultimate reality that cannot be partial or experienced in stages. Non-duality is what remains as the only reality when all other descriptions of reality have been examined and found to be false. At that point even the slightest idea lingering in the mind about the concept of non-duality will also effectively prevent it from being experienced or realized. The idea of non-duality will thus become the toughest obstacle towards the realization of complete enlightenment. Only when notions of both duality and non-duality are abandoned can true realization of enlightenment be approached and accomplished. But Hindu practitioners doesn’t know anything about that since they still cling to an array of concepts concerning more refined types of self. Which utterly defeats any attempts to approach the pure awareness that goes beyond both duality and concepts of non-duality. Hindu practitioners does not accept the Buddhist version of Śūnyatā because they are blocked from abandoning the concepts of Athman or Brahma. For that reason they take much pleasure in talking loudly about non-duality as if it could be categorized into a philosophical view or a topic of particular interest. They do not understand that only through the completion of the abandonment of ALL views, including any form of refined types of self such as Athman or Brahman, can awareness begin to approach a state beyond both concepts of either duality or non-duality. Non-dual experience can only mean an experience that is utterly devoid of any object/subject notions. As long as there’s the slightest awareness of an I, me or existence a non-dual experience is still happening but is not experienced as such, even though we may think we’re having a non-dual experience. Non-duality can only be realized when all efforts and contrivances have been abandoned. It can only reveal itself when true and timeless awareness is present as the joining factor between experiencer and the which is experienced. In that state of awareness neither existence - non-existence, self - non-self, athman- anathman are longer relevant. When ultimate reality is revealed it is not seen as yet another view or newly acquired knowledge. It is called Ultimate because it is primordial. That means it is ever present, never absent, never partial, all accomplishing, beyond notions of duality and non-duality. It is never created yet nothing whatsoever appears outside of it. It defies any descriptions and can never be held or grasped. Enlightenment can only mean one thing, -remaining effortlessly in this awareness. It is free of all movements and the principles of karma are not applicable in the ultimate state of awareness. just as ultimate nature never moves the superfluous principles of cause and effect are transcended when the awareness of ultimate reality arises. For a Buddhist this is the only form of enlightenment worthy of its name!
You overcomplicate it. Yes, no amount of words or intellection can explain what it is like to be in that state. That doesn't mean we can't have a word to use when we want to refer to that state and non-duality does just fine. To say that everyone suddenly wants to talk about it and explain it seems more like an echo chamber effect.
You people make me laugh till I fall off my chair why do you people have to make something into something and then turn it into a whole program we sketches and loads of information all you have to do is to stay as conscious as possible through your life rather than go through life on autopilot that's all you have to do it is simple no need for all there to rubbish you lock key coming out with torn attorney into something technical when he isn't life is simple just stay as conscious as possible at all times so you're not doing everything on autopilot and your brain doesn't take over simple

Know that the pain and suffering is a part of the evolutionary process of shedding this old paradigm of identity. The mere fact that you understand it in concept means you have come a long way. Patience
Thank you 🙏
Appreciated
Which is it?
Are you sure about this definition? I thought duality and non-duality had to do with Good vs. Evil
Absolutely sure as anyone can be. Good vs. Evil is one example of duality, as everything in the world of form is, eg. black Vs white, up Vs down, etc
awesome
Cheers
Duality vs Non Duality is separation
lol good one
And what of "individuality" vs "dividuality"? The reason that my Being asks is because, my Being itself is a "dividual", as opposed to an "individual". So what say you about those who are nonhuman, that are "dividuals". 🤔
isn't this more a comparison between duality and singularity?
Can you help me understand that why does it feel like the exact opposite when we sleep with no dreams. It feels like where unconscious?
Because you're expecting an experience of time, because that's what you usually experience. In deep sleep there is no experience of time but Awareness isn't broken
Duality and non duality are both true and they're noth equally true. Paradox? Yeah, but the closer you get to absolute truth the more paradoxes you'll find.
Ha that last sentence is so accurate. All the paradoxes only exist within language and concepts.
"God cannot know himself but by me!" - Meister Eckhart
Can the entirety of Mind be fully perceived (by Consciousness, us) unless thought/ego/duality is included?
How else can non-duality be known/experienced, though, but by duality?
Ultimately, non-duality Reality/Universe is time/spaceless.
Non-dual Reality is a Singularity!
The 'tempo-spacial' illusions of duality allow Consciousness something that 'lasts long enough' to appear/perceive, and appear to have actual dimensions (11 at last count? ;) to perceive, and last long enough to allow intimate, precise, in-depth micro-fine examinations of that which is perceived, that which exists. ;)
You say „11:11….and you realize that this Consciousness that you are can appear as anything and can appear as any dream“
Non Duality says:
There is no you ! It is dreamed as Consciousness too. Consciousness is - I am here, I exist - this is the Illusion. There are teachers, with Methods and so on…..
❤️❤️❤️
So we feel one way and try to believe another way - how is this not just another religion?
Oh my brain😮
Why not just use easier to understand terms such as separateness, or separation and unity instead of duality? A somewhat ambitious term!
Makes sense

I need to get married
Ok so you suddenly morph into the whole universe right
You don't morph into it. You were it to begin with.
Hey Alex, really nice video ! I was wondering if I could help you with Best Quality Editing in your videos better than your Editor with good pricing and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail which will help your videos to reach to a wider audience ? Pls let me know what do you think ?
Very insightful explanation, thank you 🪬
Is it really "either that or this"? It appears to @#$ it's both.

Kind of like the movie, 🎥 “Vanilla Sky” ❤🎭💥☠️🎡🪷✨
you are a daydream that god is having. you are a figment of his creativity. just as when you daydream, every projection of a person or character you believed was separate from you was actually a figment that your mind created. you are not existing above the daydream but a living sentient part inside of it. you are infinitely more complex than that two-dimensional projection will ever know. and so, god is that much more complex than us
You say „11:11….and you realize that this Consciousness that you are can appear as anything and can appear as any dream“
