I didn't get my teaching certificate after finishing college until I was 45. I taught for 16 years before I became disabled but I have never regretted going for it. Every day I taught was a blessing and a joy. I loved it and even though I had to stop early I've never regretted going back to schoo even at a later age.
I have said this before and I’ll say this again, I am so proud of you! Truly so happy to see you thriving! I’ve been here for yearsssssss and seeing it all happen for you is so beautiful 🙏🏼
Omgggg this was such a rewarding vlog to watch! You deserve this 💞 the blinds are a great idea! The client might appreciate that little bit of privacy while getting their hair done 💇🏻♀️
I’m so proud of you, Sam!!! Your suite is beautiful and I know being in your own space is going to make such a difference in your workdays. Can’t wait to be along for this journey! ❤
Congratulations!!!! 🎉 Thanks for bringing us along, I enjoyed the process and can’t wait for the content to come. It’s beautiful and can see how much love you poured into your space. May it be blessed and a blessing to everyone who comes by!! ❤
How exciting!! I'm glad I was able to see a recent video of someone moving into their suite. And might I say the best so far! Congratulations and blessings for your new business venture. It has me the more excited to get ready for mine!
Don’t regret not having your own studio earlier, you’re still very young. When you were in your 20’s it might have not worked out since you weren’t as established & didn’t have the 10 yrs experience you have now. The way everything is happening for you is meant to be. Believe me when you’re in your 40’s you’ll probably question your life direction again & then realize how young u were at 32. I’m looking forward to seeing your future videos. You must be so excited!
A thought - sometimes it’s helpful to have a ‘higher authority’ to blame things on. Maybe you don’t want to take a personal check, or do a particular procedure- you could say your ‘investors’ or your ‘policy advisors’ don’t allow it. In the past you’ve been able to cite ‘the boss’. Good luck!!
Yes, this is the flipside of being the boss - having to be responsible for *everything* . With all the hustle culture that's constantly shown on social media (not saying Sam is like that, just speaking from general observations) I realised I felt burnt out at the idea of being accountable for everything. Some of us are okay with being a small potato, & some of us prefer to be the captain at the helm. Both are okay - & in fact, *both* are needed to keep the ship going in the right direction!
Thank you! The thing is, when I'm making all of the rules and policies, I feel very confident enforcing them. I also have everything very clearly laid out on my website and Instagram, and I have everyone fill out a pre-consult form where they also have to agree to my policies before I even talk about scheduling them, so it helps weed out any funny business. And most of the time, in the past, the "difficult" clients were booked with me by the salon, so I would often let the salon handle it, because it was *their* client, technically. That's not to say that there probably won't be a difficult situation at some point, but I'm hoping to limit that. :)
I love the studio it looks AMAZING! I am so inspired by your ongoing evolution and energy and you look great as well. Kudos to you Girl it's a huge accomplishment!
I just have to say you’re such an inspiration. I’m also a cosmetologist from PA who wants to move down south, I also have a dream to open my own suit. I keep saying soon but I’m so scared of failing. Working for someone else just doesn’t feel right anymore. I’ve been watching your journey for a year and you definitely give me hope! I’m so happy for you girl may you and your business continue to flourish ! 💕
I want to college and got my bachelors, went to cosmetology school, and now I’m going for teaching. I’m 26 and i feel behind but at the same time there’s no such thing. I’m learning as i go and i need to do what makes me happy no matter what anyone thinks! Sometimes it takes longer for others and that’s okay! I’m excited for you and this journey there’s really no better feeling
I love how everything is coming together! 😍 - that car chat made me cry because it’s totally relatable. I’ve always said too it hadn’t happen before bc u weren’t ready just yet. All your hard work and dedication has paid off you go girl! 🫶
This made me emotional 😭 happy for you!! I have been watching you since before you made the decision to go to cosmetology school and before you moved back home. Wow 🤯 so happy to see everything fall in place for you 💕 I managed a salon suite franchise of over 8 locations for 10 years and this is the best decision any established hairstylist could make. So happy and proud of your growth!!
Never met you but you are such an inspiration!!! I am trying for my oown suite in January and you've been such a big help already. I wish you nothing but success
Oh Sam it’s so cute!!! I started watching you 4 years ago I believe and you helped inspire me to go to Cosmo school and I’m now 3 years into doing hair and going solo as well 😭😭😭💕
Hey Sam! Been following your journey since you moved back with your parents. Just wanted to say how proud I am of your journey 🥹 Came across your channel b/c for a long time I’ve been tempted to pursue a career in cosmetology. However, it never came to fruition due to being a stay at home mom. I know it’s not an excuse b/c when there’s a will you’ll always find a way. Unfortunately, where I live it’s def hard to find a school that has evening programs or lack quality education, so gave up on the idea as just fantasy. Anyway, I’ve recently had a health scare that put a lot of things into perspective and I’ve come to the realization that I need to pursue something I enjoy no matter how silly it may seem to others. I say this b/c I’m a mom of 3 turning 40 next month who just booked a cosmetology school tour at the end of this week 😬 I’m so nervous, b/c I know I’m old and not as aesthetic. However, I’ve always been a sucker for hair care, I just got lost as a mom 😔 so now I’m on the pursuit to do something for me and rediscover who I am outside of being a mom/wife. Just praying it’s not too late and that I’m able to figure it out. So thank you Sam for being so open and transparent. This new chapter in your life has inspired me and I wish you continued health and success 🙏🏽❤️ - Lucy
So proud of you Sam!! You’ve come such a long way since first starting your channel. The salon suite looks so amazing!! It’s got such luxurious & calming vibes 🤍 x
Congratulations on your studio! It’s so pretty! In my studio I did I color wall with a color rack. It looks cool and provides space to stock color. Also love that you have a beautiful window!
Sam, I also went to cosmetology school after going to college and working for a while. I watched your channel nonstop before I started beauty school! I feel the EXACT same and totally understand everything you said about self doubt, putting yourself out there, and achieving your goals. :) it’s so hard so, way to go, I’m super happy for you. Thank you!!!
I love this so much and feel every ounce of your words. I’ve had so many different career paths and just to circle back around to my first love which was hair and this is 16 years later from the time I graduated beauty school. Do your thing girl!!!! I’m excited for you!
So happy for you Sam! I've been watching you since you were with your ex and it's so nice to see how much you have grown and the changes life has thrown your way but your coming on top is very inspiring. I hope one day to discover what really motivates me, and I hope not too long. Wishing you the best in this new journey! :)
U need a key for the color tubes for all the extra color tubes u have .so u can get all the color out u can get from Sally's beauty.and the boxes of hair color u should put them standing so u can see what color it is.instead of them layn down
I started following Sam when she was giving us a tutorial on how she gets her hair red with drugstore products. lol wayyyyy back in the day. I knew when she announced that she was going to cosmetology school that she would eventually open her own salon. Like I could literally see it. To watch this video here and see it come full circle is amazing 🥹. God bless you Sam and I pray your clientele continues to grow and grow. I’m in Florida but would love to have my hair done by you one day if I’m ever traveling through. 💕💕💕💕💕
You are absolutely talented, you are experienced, you are very well knowledgeable and organized about the business side of things, you can pick and choose who your clients are… I think you’d be fine, don’t let the “impostor syndrome” overcome you, and don’t let negative people get in your head… Much love to you Sam!!! ✨💖✂️✨
Congratulations Sam!!!🎉🎉 I totally can relate to you on a lot of things you've said in this video. It's amazing that you believed in yourself and followed your own dreams...regardless the doubts. I've always wanted to go to cosmetology school, but I've allowed people to talk me out of it. Some of those people are individuals who spend thousands at a salon each year. 😂 (stupid me) Anyway, I'm 34 and finally enrolled in cosmetology school. I live in northeastern PA. Your salon suite is coming a long great! You should be so proud of yourself for how far you have come. Thank you for sharing all the things you do. I find your videos encouraging and very informative. Keep chasing your dreams girly!❤
It looks amazing!!! I'm so excited to watch this journey with you.. when your client's are processing, do you have a place to go and just chill for a minute while they process?
Yes! There's a processing room we can use for clients if we need to put them under heat, want to double-book, or just need some alone time. We also have a break room for the stylists and tables outside, so there's plenty of options for separation, if needed :)
Congratulations 🙏🏽 I remember watching you back when you were red then going blonde . Praying for God to bless you with so much more success in your new journey 🫶🏽💖✨

Hi Sam.. hope you're doing well in your first week on your own! I'm wondering if anyone gave you weird vibes as you were taking this big step on being an independent stylist. Not that it matters because it's your dream. And that's all that matters at the end! Hairstylist in Canada cheering you on!! 🎉🎉🎉 would you ever share a range of how much it cost to set up your space? I would consider a salon suite but the investment seems to intimidating. How much should I budge for?
Prepare to save at least 4 months rent to cover yourself for slow season. Our product cost is different then in the states so calculate how much you would need to start up and save at least 2 months for that. When I went out of my own I didn’t save at all I winged it and now been on my own for three years and opened a salon. Definitely save at least 10 grand so you’re not stressed
