Republicans released a “starting place” bill (the HEAL act), which includes a $1200 stimulus check with the same income thresholds as the last stimulus check, plus $500 per dependent. Fingers crossed something gets passed by end of this week. 🤞🏻

I miss the hustle and bustle of downtown. The energy and socialization in an office atmosphere was very powerful. Plus a lot of businesses connected with each other...restaurants, hotels, boutiques, salons, etc. Not to mention the office building staff and maintenance and cleaning personnel. I think this work at home business is a crock and will weaken humanity.

I've been working from home for years, so the pandemic didn't affect me that way, but somehow I've still saved a lot of money and have a really good cushion in my account. We did stop going to town for groceries and opted to use our little local store, and just bought essentials, so that helped. Gas is cheaper, so that helps too. And there were also a lot of school related costs that we dodged. It all adds up! Funny though, now that my account is "healthy", I don't want to spend! I think I'm more frugal now compared to when i had less in the bank! :)

Wow...you guys did a great conversion of your pantry into an office! When I first heard "pantry" I envisioned a basket of potatoes in the corner or him being surrounded by shelves with soups, cereals etc 😜😂 fantastic job!

About the whole no need to care about the pants situation: the other day I was in a video call with some colleagues and something happened and I had to get up really fast. It was no big deal as I have a very informal work environment, but it made me rethink the whole wearing half my pajama during meetings... :D

The biggest difference with working from home is having more time when we put down work. This allows us to do things well instead of taking shortcuts and that saves money. Lunches at work and gas is $700 for me and my husband per month.

Cheryl I hope you can see that you are in a much safer position than those working from home. Eventually businesses will realize the same savings this video highlights. They will conclude that they don’t need in person workers and they can recruit from any where with lower wages and taxes. People working from home should save every cent they can now, especially in states with high cost of living because people in lower cost areas will be lining up to take their jobs.

WFH has been great been doing this since March. You hit on some good points, saving gas was a big cut from my budget. And since this year is my first time being at my new job, this job is located around a lot of restaurant. Therefore my food budget has cut tremendously. Thanks for a good video.

I saved SO much money working from home for 9 weeks. I donated my $1200 stimulus to those less fortunate. I am an executive assistant. My car insurance company gave partial refunds for a few months. I am 64, debt free, money in the bank, single & hoping to retire at 65, or 66 & 4 months (I just can't make up my mind yet)....

They don't pay for upkeep for the building, but by doing that, they have also created unemployment for the lower paid employees who belong to the janitorial staff, the front desk receptionist staff and the security staff.
Thus, the transfer of money has gone back to 'big boss,' and left the little man - once again, out in the cold, which results in furthering poverty. Not everyone had the opportunity and/or went to college or can find another job.
Yes, working from home is good, but not for all

Love the video Dana! Could so relate because my husband and I have been working from home for almost 2 years now. This enabled us to only need one car, which saves not only on car fee's but gas as well (like you pointed out). We also get to have some great tax breaks and reclaims because of using our home as an office. Love the channel. SUBSCRIBED

Honestly the saving on wear and tear has been a lifesaver. My car is at 130K so this year could have been a huge year for the big car fixes. Granted, there were some things I still needed to do, like belts were about to totally kill over & tires desperately needed changing. But like you said it was SO nice to be able to do those fixes on my time, make those appointments and budget the money whereas before, either of those things would have been huge deals to have to take time off to get those repairs done. My go-to shop is close enough to drop off the car and get a ride back and keep working from home, but if my car broke down during my commute I'd be stuck with way more expensive downtown shops. And if a car breaks down on the way to work it's a total nightmare, being trapped in traffic with a bad car, being late, having to suddenly pay for a big fix. You're usually rushing around so much you might not have even seen the breakdown coming. Now it's been easier to plan for maintenance. I'm going back to school so a new car won't be in the budget for some time, so earning that extra year out of the car by keeping it at home has seriously been a huge lifesaver! Plus, my insurance has gone down because the mileage I'm driving and all has seriously gone done. Not much risk when my car is sitting in the driveway at least 6 days a week lol If anyone who is WFH hasn't looked into a new car insurance quote, you really should!

I see cost increase in water bill, (no gym to shower), heat and air conditioner (had it set to not be on when we were not home). I work from home now and hubby needs to go in, we use to commute together and he would get a discount for the commute so now we spend the gas and don't get the commute money. I will need to go in 2 days a week and on those days they changed my time so we can't commute so need to keep 2 cars. Crazy how just a few months your life goes upside down.

I would LOVE to be able to work from home. I'd appreciate any ideas for how to accomplish it!
I always considered my car a luxury and didn't replace it after it died years ago. Used mass transit for work. I miss it but MD AAA says it costs $9700/ year. I walk, bike and use public trans. Do I miss it? Absolutely. But for now, I very carefully plan and take advantage of any offers of transport.

Thank you for reminding about the environmental option to reduce car use! This really reduces air pollution, per the AirNow Gov website. We should all stock up when we shop, to allow us to make fewer trips - like during the pandemic. I live car-free in a city, and always live less than 5 blocks from a train station, so I'm lucky I can do this. Most able-bodied people can do most trips of under 3 miles by bicycle. With 2 panniers and a front basket and by laying a duffle bag across my 2 panniers, I can get 6-8 bags of groceries on my old mountain bike.

I’m a pretty frugal person. I’ve been doing remote work since 3/18. I’ve spent more $ since my 12 year old son has been with me 24/7. He’s an eating machine who leaves lights on in the house after I’ve turned them off for the night. I haven’t saved any money but I’m incredibly thankful for this ability to work from home. I was a housewife for the first 10 years of my son’s life. Went through a divorce and returned to the workforce. I love being able to focus on my son’s needs. The physical stuff doesn’t apply but I find we’re having more conversations beyond “ what’s for dinner “ and “ is your homework done”

Saving on gas, maintenance, parking/garage costs in big cities, saving on the stress of a commute, saving on laundry as you can wear sweats or jeans a couple of days in a row before switching up (we had WFH pre-covid, but our department’s leadership wanted us in the office at least 3 days a week) Edit: and no commute impulse purchases, such as fast food, or just stopping somewhere to browse to break up a long commute

Staying at home and no coffee and lunch in a cafe on a free day defenately helps on savings. No fuel buying and no spending unless you really really really need to . ( out cooker for making hotwater stopt working so we orderd a new one online. Because of the delivery time I boiled some water in a pan, totally forgot I put it on me not being used to that routine. So the pan went dry bottem was complete out of shape because of the heat... we saved for a new set a year prior but due to the pandamic could not go to that shop... We knew wat we wanted and supposed to have baught allready afther 20 years being daily used.) No holiday is a big saver for us. Nothing fancy but we live in Europe and travel to a lot of countries because of no real borders and visa needed. Regularly about 2000 miles every year, no campsites , no icecream no restaurants. Unfortunately No family visits as well , that was every month about 200 miles not drivven since februari 😥. But we already had an unlimetid free calls for fixed price. That is the cheapest way in the netherlands in our case. Yes the pandamic saves, but I would have loved to spent. (And we allready budgeted for it anyway) take care, thanks for sharing!❤

I wish any of these applies to our situation. My husband is still driving into work (20 mins away) although his hours have been cut. I work at a school so I would have been out anyway, although I did loose the extra income I earn through working summer school with special needs. Spending more on food because my teenage kids are here eating more.

I too am saving a lot of money now that we are working and learning from home. My husband and I are both saving money on gas that was necessary for the work commute. Additionally, I have been able to stretch out the life of our oldest car which has given me more time to save the necessary money to purchase a new-to-me car. Along with cancelled summer activities and holidays, the money which has been redirected to saving due to the quarantine has meant that I am now able to buy a new car with cash. This is a huge accomplishment for us and may not have been possible without this unexpected working from home situation. Many thanks for encouraging us to have a more positive perspective on a very challenging time.
