    Great video, Brad! I had never heard of this plugin, but it sounds fantastic! Question: do you still use a limiter to bring the LUFs up to acceptable levels in your master bus, or is this plugin meant to displace that? I've had good luck with the Waves L2, and the Infected Mushroom Pusher.

    • @RadiumRecordsHollywood
      @RadiumRecordsHollywood  3 года назад +2

      This plugin adds a lot of "perceived loudness" and can obviously add more gain... I still use limiting with it but it always depends on the mix, right? If the mix is low and not loud enough/ built right, you'll always be chasing for loudness at the end.

      One thing that this plugin does that isn't focused on in this video is that you can use it as a clipper by pushing the input while enabling "Clip at 0dB". So you soft clip, and saturate. But it will never replace a normal limiter. i think MixBusTV has a great video on the matter where he pushes -4 LUFS with just clipping and saturation from the inflator. Not saying it's going to produce the best sound, just presenting you with all it can do. /L

    OI is great. It's part of my default template master bus. One benefit of "old but gold" plugins is they use no CPU and have nearly no latency. The same cannot be said for Ozone 9... I appreciate OI's ability to give things some polish so I can hold off on dropping Ozone for as long as possible.

    Edit: mostly odd order harmonics

    • @RadiumRecordsHollywood
      @RadiumRecordsHollywood  8 месяцев назад

      Right. And odd harmonics are additive EQ, ADDING to the fundamental… It’s the psychoacoustics of it all, how we perceive the sound and we perceive it as adding frequencies (which it is…)

Basically Inflator is a saturation plugin. Then there is a recreation RCInflator for Reaper which I understand is quite close also.
