Thanks for visiting the Freshcutky organic gardening channel. In the garden, I will answer some of the most common "gardening for beginners" type questions I get, including growing flowers from seed. Growing greens, growing flowers, and planting beautiful organic food is something I'm really passionate about. Thank you for joining me as I learn to grow flowers, cut flowers, vegetables, and much more. Freshcutky youtube channel and related media are for entertainment purposes only.
Many ornamental flowers and cut flowers are TOXIC. ALWAYS do your own research and take responsibility for the plants that you introduce around your kids, pets, and everyone else. Use common sense when handling plant materials: wear gloves, always wash hands, avoid contact with face, etc. NEVER consume any plant which has not been positively identified with complete certainty to be safe and edible. Before planting anything, research to determine whether specific flowers are considered invasive where you live or if there are laws that apply to their planting in your area.

What is "@freshcutky"?
@freshcutky documents the pursuit of my goal of one day owning my own cut flower farm. Along the way, you'll see random projects, cooking, and of course - growing stuff. I'm not an expert, and would never claim to be. There's always more to learn - this is my journey. The purpose of my blog, and other social media accounts (including RUclips) is to share ideas. I do my best to offer information that is useful, but reliance on that information is strictly at your own risk and NOT a substitute for professional advice of any kind. I do not create sponsored content or use affiliate links unless they have been explicitly stated above.
Hello all! So sorry about the audio on this one - my new microphone still hasn't arrived. Also, enormous thanks to my niece, who filmed most of and edited this entire video! She's a total rock star.
It's my first year learning how to care for my potted plants.
I just LOVE Calla Lilies!!!
But I've never grown them!
Some day...
Some day...
Great video, I don't even mind the audio mishaps!
Hey, how GREAT is that, that your niece did the editing!!!
Excellent job Niece-y!!! ❤️
I copied you and planted some in a crate. Love the videos.
I'm in zone 6a and calla lilies actually winter over in my backyard! About 50 of them have returned for the second time.
I’m in CT and my calla lilies never come back. I have to overwinter them in basement. And even then I lose a lot
I actually have a hardy calla aethiopica, bigger white fragrant flowers with yellow stick. Its flowering right now and probably will continue long. Im in zone 8b
I love calla lilies, too! And as a Backyard gardener, I really like the idea of growing them in crates! I’m excited to give them a try.😁👍🏻
I have white and pink callas growing by the neighborhood pool. And pink and purple callas growing in the oval flowerbed. A neighbor has yellow callas so we’re good!
I think Calla Lilies are one the most beautiful flowers. I'm in zone 7, long before they added a & b to the zones, mine came back for a couple yrs.
I live here in Southern California. I order some 2 years back. Because where we use to live, our apt had a large bunch in the back yard. I would pick a few to give our home that special touch. I found the more you pick the more flowers keep growing. So now I will always grow them .Beautiful they sure are. And hey what about them pretty pink one you had ? So interesting when plants give you a nice surprise. Wonderful. A gift😍
I will have to try growing some callas.
I just love your videos! So helpful.. thank you for what you do! I had great success with propagating lily bulbs after watching you do it.. again thank you so very much!!
I've had a calla lilly pot for a couple years. This year I noticed it gave me a seed pod! While removing the seeds yesterday, I found that many were already sprouting. I have them wrapped in a wet paper towel inside a plastic bag on the window sill. I've read that it takes 3 years to get a bloom from a seed, but I'm excited about trying. Thanks for your video - it encouraged me to plant these sprouts in pots next to the mother plant.
Very helpful! Thank you so much. The tulip bulb crate is genius and I may adapt using one for my Calla Lilies. 🥰
Absolutely beautiful! TFS
More beautiful flowers!
WOW,CONGRATS 🌷🌷🌷🌷
You did amazing. I think I will try your method for outside callas next year. I never knew not too plant the bulbs so deep, I think that’s probably why mine grow sooo tall!! Although I don’t know. I grow them inside and it is a challenge and this year I had soil gnats in the house so I believe because I had to battle those I was not as successful with them flowering this year. But there’s still a chance this summer though.
Good information thank you
Tks for sharing.
Thanks
I heard that they do well in containers because they like the restriction.. But I haven't tried growing them.
Hi, I've heard mixed answers for whether you should cut back the plant when it starts to die or if you should leave the dying leaves and flowers. Also, can you leave in a pot over winter? If so, how do you care for it?
When these die do I have to dig up and replant the bulbs ? Thank u
Hello, would you explain the reason that you grow them in crates instead of pots? Thanks!
No special reason. The crate was just much bigger than any of my pots. Thanks for watching!
You grow them beautifully. Great video! Do you place them in full sun or protected from afternoon sun?
Can you grow calla Lillie’s from seeds?
What season do you plant them bulbs please
Hi! May I know what is the best potting mix for calla lily? Please tell what components should be used to make the potting mix.
This is a great idea. I'm just wondering if this would work with lilies???
I've never tried it personally, but I have definitely seen lilies grown in crates online. Thank you for watching! 🌱
Can you tell us what your source is for these beautiful blooms? Thank you. I love this variety, and didn't know they could be grown in crates. Love your videos!
I use the "Wholesale for Small Scale Growers" facebook group to order bulbs. Thank you for watching! 🌱
I've had my calla lily bulbs for several years and they will not bloom all I get is green leaves.
