    I took my 300TD in for an ACCiii issue and the kid was kneeling beneath the steering wheel. I asked him what he was hunting for. He said he couldn’t find the port for his scan tool. I took the car home & fixed it myself. Good job on the video.

    Very nice tutorial! Thanks for showing me how to remove that rear top vac pod! The electrical troubleshooting was also helpful.

    Great tutorial! I never had your patience, so years ago I simply took out the entire system on my 77 280e and installed a manual system from a 77 240d. It was probably just as much work - if not more - as your solving the automatic cc system problem, but that system always scared me. Well done!

      Hahahah thank you Richard. I noticed there were no videos like this on RUclips so I made this one for all the folks out there that were intimidated by this job. It's not so bad once you get started.

      @@woodsandbarclay Once you understand the "system", it's relatively simple. I have replaced the center pod, but usually, I am too lazy to take the dash off! Question. What does the black temperature module do (beside the silver module you replaced)? Does it control the signal to mono valve/control push button module for the temperature out the vents?

    • @woodsandbarclay
      @woodsandbarclay  2 года назад

      @@richardgreene3460 that other black module is the fan speed controller

      @@richardgreene3460 Richard how did you replace the center pod without removing the dash?

    • @richardgreene3460
      @richardgreene3460 2 года назад +1

      @@woodsandbarclay I haven't change the center pod without removing the dash. I have removed the dash to replace the pod, but now too lazy! Years ago, several friends said it could be done, BUT they were wrong/bragging. It cannot! Being too lazy to remove the dash, I disconnected the rod to the flap leaving the center vents open all the time. Not correct of course, but it does feel great to have heat out all of the vents in the winter!

    This is exactly what I was working on all day in my 83 300d. Very helpful. I think I have to test all the servos for leaks, I have a bunch from other cars that hopefully are good.

      All of those components are accessible by removing the glove box with the exception of the center vent pod. That's really the only pod that needs to be replaced with the dash out all the other ones are replaceable with the dash in ;)

    After looking at the part numbers you showed in the video for the little pink vacuum actuator pods, they start with “116” and you’re working on a W123 chassis I believe. Are those pods interchangeable amongst different chassis?

    • @woodsandbarclay
      @woodsandbarclay  2 года назад +2

      Yes some of the parts from the 116 were actually carried all the way through to the 123 and 126. The 116 is the original gangsta hahaha

    I have similar problems with mine 1984 300td it would blow hot air at “random” and won’t open center vents.

    • @woodsandbarclay
      @woodsandbarclay  Год назад

      That's a common problem. First you need to check your mono valve to see if the boot is torn. In order to replace the vacuum actuator for your Center vents you need to remove the dash. You could also just pry open the center vents.

    When you replace those dashboards, can you refurbish the old ones, or
    do you just trash them? Awful lot of work you put into this.

    • @woodsandbarclay
      @woodsandbarclay  2 года назад +2

      Yes the old ones can actually be refurbished and sent off to be prepared sometimes we're able to do minor repairs here in the shop.
