The spinnerbait really was my first "favorite lure". I fish Lake Powell quite often and the water is really clear. Best time to fish it for me is in the spring on those windy and cloudy days. Throwing it into the wind blown shore. Love it!
Just got a 24" on Sunday on a big Booyah with a paddle tail trailer. I'm in NJ so it's a good one around here. My favorite lure to fish. Thanks for this one Randy.
My wife and I placed 2nd and had big brownie in a club tournament throwing that 3/4 oz Megabass SV3 at night under a full moon. It is by far the best spinnerbait I’ve used.
Hey Randy, I've been throwing spinnerbaits for years and I do use a trailer hook about 99% of the time. However, when I make my keepers, I'll use either a plastic coffee can lid or, like you an old plastic milk jug. A little tip for you now... (Kind of a thank you for all your tips! LOL!!) I'll use a regular standard paper hole puncher. I find it very quick and easy to make up a bunch, and keep a bunch in the boat and at my work bench. Anyway... Thank you for the seminars!!
The biggest bag I ever caught on a blade was at night I think and on one of those funky old bumble bee chopper looking blades. But those SK diamond blades used to be flat deadly in the pre spawn, especially if the water was high and a little dirty. Even the ones that didn’t inhale it, often they would just roll on it and you could follow up with something else and catch them.
I used to record the bass caught every month and every bait and I caught more on an H&H spinner bait in January than any other bait or month. It was so cold ice was on the eyes of the rod from the water. Here in Louisiana. Love the channel, very awesome content.
Randy, spinners are my go to and my confidence bait year round. And I can't agree with you any more that I love seeing a fish come from under a grass spot or a lay down and smash my bait. Best ever. Might be better than a top water bite. Just my opinion.
This is awesome Randy. Not much better than slowly rolling a spinner bait along a big down tree. Which blades did you have on the one with the curly tail worm and the boot tail swim bait as the trailers
Probably the biggest bass I’ve ever caught was slow rolling a spinner bait in April. Didn’t have a scale but I could have put both my fists in its mouth and not have touched the sides.
Darn skippy. Well unless it’s gurgling a big blade around flooded cover in some pre spawn dingy water. I like getting to see them first big ones come up and get all stupid. Lol almost like topwater fishing. But having a big smallie about rip the rod out of my hand in the dark is real good 😬👊🏻fun
Fire Randy! I loved this and many things you said are so helpful. Don’t forget about Black spinnerbaits! Black and chartreuse single Colorado is definitely an Ohio thing.
What about inline spinners Randy. Like a #5 mepps with a trailer of some sort. Like a comet but more modern plastics? I only ask because a few years I started making my own trout spinners
I don't know why but the only color I have the most productive is the black and green the green like grass and it seems like it's a hard to find color long time ago I found them all over West Virginia and now I have to make the skirts myself
I also like the Indiana blades. And if you want something killer try hatchet blades. I'm not sponsored by or any affiliation with them but black fly lures has some good hatchet blades and a lot of different styles of blades. I buy the baits then modify the skirts and colors of the blades.
If you had throw one color and blade combo year round…would it be white, white-chart., a shad pattern (lil) blue/green back and pearl….with tandem, both willow, or bigger Colorado? I understand the water temp. Play but
Almost always have a spinnerbait tied on. Just a tool you need in ur arsenal. When they’re not hittin nothin else like if topwater should be on but ain’t, throw a spinnerbait!
one can use spinnerbaits without putting a soft plastic on them right? I have caught a very few fish that way but am a relatively novice freshwater angler and don’t even get out to the lake as often as I ought to practice. Like, few and far between. Did not even know people put soft plastics on spinnerbaits until very recently.
I run a trailer hook, therefore, no plastic trailer. Fishing with my friend who pretty much uses the same spinnerbait with a plastic trailer & no 2nd hook. I catch fish when he can't even get bit. Almost all of my fish are caught on the trailer hook. Now I don't know if it's the way I work it, burning it just below the surface or that they are not interested in the plastic trailer. It's got me wondering. I do use a plastic trailer on buzzbaits & often remove the skirt altogether. I would love to hear other opinions on this.
I've never had much luck with trailers. I will occasionally add an inch or two of a finesse worm or similar just to mix it up and it works fine. Recently I had a skirt fall off a spinner and caught a few spots in as many casts fishing it with no skirt and a fluke as a trailer.
We used to watch the PROS actually cast at targets with spinnerbaits now all they do is run the trolling motor and look down , they don’t cast at targets , it’s very sad too
I reckon Randy considers all baits oddities, except Megaass. In this case, Megaass spinnerbaits are only deemed worthy. That word is in his own words so just restating.
@@surfcat2051 I'm not Randy's fan. I normally click, pause, and comment, then move along bc people have accused me of watching him. I know more than you. Speaks to your defense. I know his little fanbase has his back, but yall need to work harder, and tell your idol to take my challenges. I cannot get YT icons to come at me and compete with the very best. Please. Will ya?
I love throwing a spinner-bait. Thanks for the Seminar in 4K!

Living Rubber Skirts - Any preference between round strands vs flat strands? Any advantages to have a combination skirt of rubber and silicone?
This was a great seminar on spinnerbaits. Thank you Randy!

My PB was caught on the old Hank Parker Classic spinnerbait. Thanks for sharing these great tips
Those things rock in shallow water.

O yea hear that’s being said been looking for this one brother to see what me and you do deferent on this one
Great video Randy
Awesome
I remember when they used to use vinyl skirts on spinnerbaits! Those skirts would deteriorate rather quickly!

Can’t beat slow rolling a single Colorado blade on summer nights

The humdinger is hard to beat where I fish, and has the flat rubber skirt material

Saved this to re-watch in the future. I’m amazed it’s got so few likes and comments.
All I keep seein and hearin about is the tandems with the front blade painted bright red or orange

Having a hard time finding blades that size

why do you think if spinnerbaits arent great for winter but they say Alabama rigs are ?

Is the design on your shirt indicating the knowledge bomber is over the target?
Over
how about just the bottom half of a senko with no skirt in clear water

No doubt
