Before they left, Max told Dane he wanted to leave, to which they said there is no leaving. So when they came in at the end there, I interpreted it as them seeing Moldaver dead and seizing the opportunity for Max. Hank/Henry was Barb's assistant, I think that Barb is much higher in the Vault-Tec corporation especially when she looked at her pip-boy then up at the shadowy figure behind the glass. She was either a senior executive or the personal executive assistant to the president/CEO of Vault-Tec. Bud's Buds were all junior executive assistants.
That last look on Max's face when Dane was holding up his arm was a look of dissolution of how he imagined the brotherhood to be, and the need for revenge on what happened to him as a kid in Shady Sands.

Apparently Barb was Vault-Tec's CMO (chief marketing officer). My theory is that Cooper's marketing campaign was a success and got her a promotion then she discovered Vault-Tec's true intentions and decided to go along with it in order to save her family. I also believe that as soon as the bombs started to drop she sent people looking for them (probably on a vertibird) but they only took the daughter and leaved Cooper behind and that's how he got irradiated. Hopefully we get more answers next season, maybe even a reunion (it would be so sad if they look at Copper's cowboy outfit and think he lost his mind)

I honestly don't think Barb ever loved him as much as he did her. Especially once he became a big enough actor that she could use him for her own career. And, well, by now he truly hates her, so I doubt a reunion would be a good one.

Cooper's wife originally told him the vault she would be in would 'oversee all the other vaults'. 31, 32, and 33 are the 'Bud's Buds' vault - one of the experiments. It stands to reason that the 'prime' vault overseeing all the others would be Vault 0 or Vault 1. But no matter what, it's certainly not 31. It's something we haven't seen yet, although Siggi knew a *lot* about Lucy's vault, implying he's somewhere that has knowledge of all the vaults. So maybe 'The Enclave' is where that is.

Not even going to lie, after playing years and years of Fallout games, seeing the Cold Fusion work made me tear up. Playing through all those games and seeing how desolate the wastelands are, how broken people are with some fates worse than death befallen them, how hope is so scarce even when you beat the game. With Cold Fusion having been created the survivors now have a chance to revive hope, rebuild the world, and work so civilization can eventually thrive instead of survive. Even if it's not in the right hands as of the finale, the fact Cold Fusion exists means there's more of a chance than ever that humanity can repair themselves.

It will probably get destroyed. And with no one able to replicate it, lost forever. Just as many other tech. It's one of the major issues a lot of people don't realize when they see "thriving" post apocalyptic societies. TLoU Jackson supporters had a similar argument. But you cannot scavenge forever, because eventually all of your shit will break down and you have neither the knowledge nor the logistical capabilities to produce replacements. Humanity will further and further degrade into the stone ages and lose all the technological progression that we have made over the last thousands of years - especially all the complex shit since the industrial revolution, even more so that of the digital age.

31:20 long comment rant here, you can ignore if you want, because it's prob an unpopular opinion
imo Moldaver is definitely a "good person" and Hank a terrible one. this is even more evident because Moldaver, who knew Hank and what he did to Shady Sands in the name of "protecting his children", offered him a similar choice in the first episode: Lucy or the ppl of the Vault. Hank chose Lucy as we know (and at that moment, it was shown as an act any loving father would do, but then we had the 180° showing that Hank has made choices like that before and that he doesn't care to "destroy an entire community"), but something that usually isn't mentioned by viewers is that Moldaver gave time for _everyone_ to escape unharmed. no one was k. because of that, to me it was more like a test to show Lucy and everyone in the Vault what kind of person Hank really was.
i love Moldaver, i think she's a rare character in TV, especially rare in American TV. she's kinda shown as this character fighting against oppression, this archetype of a revolutionaire, but imo she's never shown as a mere trope, or like that overused trope of the "freedom fighter" eventually turning a villain and doing awful things gratuitously out-of-character that we see in media all the time... seriously, that trope is _everywhere_ (from Jet in TLA to The Kansas Raiders in TLoU). but Moldaver is shown consistently throughout the series. and i think that's very brave, especially in a world that even now has a lot of ppl with a Cold War mentality.
the only "complain" i have with the character is that her ideology and message it's kinda watered down and obscured with the "all factions are bad/the same" and the "i'm not a com, that's just a dirty word". is not necessary (or expected) for Fallout to have a super pro-leftist message, to paint com in a good light for a change. but i think it's pretty cool that it also kinda has? that the show is not "in the middle", it takes a stance, it's just up to the viewer to notice.
so yeah, tl;dr more Moldavers, less Hanks.

This show has showcased how to properly do storytelling, always leaving us with questions by the end of each episode while also giving us some answers as the season progresses.
And by the end of it, a lot of the questions we have are ultimately answered in some way while still leaving us with plenty of unanswered questions to keep us intrigued and interested in seeing how these storylines play out.
Like what is going to happen to Norm? If he's gonna be Cryogenically frozen, how and when will he be unfrozen? Especially if Lucy (who I would think would be his best bet of being let out) is planning on following her dad to New Vegas.
What are we going to find in New Vegas? Lucy's dad obviously knows something or someone is there that will help him.
How is Maximus' storyline going to pan out? Is he still going to try to escape the Brotherhood of Steel or will he be further indoctrinated by them due to becoming an official Knight?
I genuinely cannot wait to see what Season 2 has in store for us, if it's anything like this Season, I have high hopes to be just as enthralled by it as I am with Season 1.

His wife and daughter would be in Vault 0. The Vault-Tec HQ vault. I think Barb had Cooper sent to Vault 12 in Bakersfield which was designed specifically not to seal properly, so I think that's how Coop got Ghoulified. Of course that could all be wrong. So I hope season 2 will give us that particular back story

It's interesting to meet Maximus this early in his arc as a character. He's essentially the child of an abusive family. When he didn't see a chance to be accepted by his family he was willing to leave them, but now that he's being embraced by his family I think he's going to backslide on that. His friend saying there's no leaving and noplace is safe after he's seen the experiments in Vault 4 and learned that a representative of VaultTec destroyed his family and childhood home will make that easier. And, why did he join the Brotherhood? "to hurt the people who hurt me." He could view that narrowly as "Hank MacLane hurt me" or more broadly as "VaultTec hurt me." I think Maximus is going to tend toward the latter, possibly from the beginning or possibly after he learns more about them. I think he'll become an antagonist eventually. And with Hank announcing that they are a generation away from re-colonizing the surface, I suspect there is a VaultTec vs Brotherhood war coming. Maybe in the series, or maybe in future games. And lets face it Maximus is a great name for a major villain if it doesn't seem over the top, and we've met him when he was nobody so it won't seem as jarring if he grows into the name.

As for Vault-Tec starting the war? We still don't know that, we only know that they intended to. But, looking at how it went down, they were caught unaware. Until we see who pushed the button, it is still in question.

Hey guys, another great reaction. Ok, I say this to every reactor that says Cooper's wife, Barbara, might be in Vault 31. She shouldn't be in that Vault. Bud's Buds were all junior executives & management trainees that are supervised by Bud. Hank, Lucy's father, was Barbara's executive assistant. Barbara was senior management. I think she was downplaying her role @ Vault-Tec to Cooper. Do u remember the episode when Cooper put on the Vault Suit for the commercial & asked if it really blocks radiation? The 2 people his wife introduced him to looked to this wife for how to respond. In the last episode, when the corporate heads begin to argue, u see Barbara glance up @ the 2nd floor observation room, where someone sits in the shadows, before she brings the meeting back on track. I think she could be the right hand woman of the big boss of Vault-Tec. I am curious as to what Norm is gonna do. Is he going to get into his father's Cryopod/ is he going to threaten the other Cryopods in order to escape Vault 31?🤔 I saw an update as for when Season 2 may come out which will be 2026.

I never agreed with the "you can't adapt video games into good movies/shows" camp. I loved The Last of Us show, but Fallout? Episode after episode they always blew through my expectations and the final episode is like a cherry on the cake. The satire might make this show off-putting to some, and maybe it's not for everybody, but it's phenomenal.
The one thing I'm scared now, is how TLoU and Fallout might start a trend like Marvel, and in 5 years we'll all get burned out on video game adaptations.

The suspicion of Hank not seeming like what he is has always been prevalent especially if you're familiar with the protags of some of the games because there's typically always a familial twist to things, but I do really appreciate that even if someone just watches the show, there was already a seed planted in the first episode due to what Moldaver says to Lucy before taking Hank. It ultimately came down to the mystery of why it happened. Now, BARB though... Barb's twist was SO well done. It's great because she DOES do this out of love for her family... it's just such an extremely warped point of view and since she wholeheartedly believes in it, it's way scarier. She (and Hank and even Moldaver to some extent) is capable of monstrous things AND loving their family at the same time, and it just makes them as antagonists all the less one dimensional. If this were any other cheaper show, you can bet they'd do the whole "Cooper doesn't know, but the AUDIENCE knows hehehe" and making the twist not work. I was JUST as heartbroken as Coop when she said that line at the meeting. It's like you knew she could be as cold and calculating as everyone in that room... but to be the one to suggest THE idea in the first place was just... wow. Amazing show! Can't wait for the next season!!!

What has me most excited is the prospect of an Overseer Vault somewhere among the ruins of New Vegas. It's strongly hinted at by Barb and that must be where she and her daughter must be - and where Hank is headed to.
The moment that got me was Coop finding out about his wife being the biggest of all corporate monsters and his entire marriage shattering before his eyes. Which also opens up a few more questions: He got divorced before his birthday appearance, because according to the people there, he has to do them to pay alimony. So, what exactly happened to him and his daughter after they escaped the Great War bombing? How did he turn into a ghoul? What happened right after this corporate meeting? I still think his (ex-)wife is ultimately responsible for his ghoulification.
Sarita Choudhury (Moldaver) was also approached on wheter or not she will appear in Season 2, because we never found out A. How she survived for over 200 years. and B. why she changed her name from Williams to Moldaver, and she had to play coy, probably because she's under NDA, so that's certainly not the last we've seen of her.
Save to say, this finale was so good, I played (and fiinished) Fallout 4 for the first time afterwards - and I usually never play RPGs.

This show is a brilliant example of flawed corporate thinking. Vault Tec wanted to eliminate conflict by getting rid of all other factions but then to make money they outsourced their vaults to other corporations with different ideals thereby creating lots of different factions. This is shown by the fact Shady Sands was founded by vault dwellers from Vault 15 but because what they did conflicted with the plans for Vaults 31, 32, & 33 Hank nuked it!

@@greywarden5513Exactly. The camera lingers on the Ghoul loading distinctive armor piercing rounds into his gun before he shoots the first Brotherhood Knight. This is a nod to the armor piercing ammo of Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas. During the Filly fight, the Ghoul was using ammo designed for soft, human targets (e.g., hollow-point and/or explosive rounds). The rounds look and sound very different from the rounds used against the Brotherhood. The Ghoul likely did not expect to be fighting power armor and was unprepared for Maximus (which is why the Ghoul tries to kill Lucy first and failing that shoots the gun from Maximus’s hand). But now that the Brotherhood is involved the Ghoul tracks down some armor piercing ammo before heading to the Observatory.

All the experiment ideas at the meeting exist in the games. The show really captures one key aspect of the Fallout verse, and that's the exploration and mystery (and in many cases, horror) of the vaults. On a side note, Vault 4's twist in the previous episode is pretty neat because of all the setup we've had with how horrible the other vaults were (and it doesn't rely on the viewers to be familiar with the games for this too). The inhabitants ultimately become a not too bad society all things considering.

Its a perfect season.Even the "filler" episode with vault 4 was important. It was her first real exposure to the fact that the vaults and vaulttech were not what they seemed. Without that exposure she probably would not have believed moldaver. Almost everything served a purpose, and her and her brother both finding out the truth at the same time (with the flashback to when the ghoul found out layered in there) was perfect. All the storyline converged. Even maximus was important because he was someone she came to care for that was victimized by her dad. I loved the foreshadowing in earlier episodes like when the enclave defector said "will you still want the same things, when you are a different animal altogether". Both Lucy and max got what the originally wanted in the end, and in the end it was no longer what they wanted. Also when max wanted to steal the fusion core and Lucy said "if my dad knew I destroyed a whole community to save him it would break his heart", and then she finds out he destroyed an entire city supposedly for her but more accurately for his misguided ideals. It was all such good storytelling

I watched and enjoyed all 8 of your YT Fallout reaction videos.
One thing I haven't seen anyone mention or comment on is that ghoul Rose is feral, but doesn't seem completely mindless. She definitely reacts to the conversation going on in front of her. The most notable is when Lucy tells Moldaver to give her father back, Rose hisses and growls. She does that a couple of other times and they don't seem completely random.
The Ghoul's attitude towards Lucy changed with "Golden Rule, Motherfucker." After that he seems to have been protecting her (consciously or not). He takes the blame for what happened at the Super Duper Mart instead of telling them they should be looking for a vaultie. He shoots Hank so Lucy doesn't have to murder her father. Granted he had the ulterior motive of keeping Hank alive so Hank could lead them to his masters. If Lucy pulled the trigger, she would put the bullet in Hank's brain. He warned her that the BOS would kill her along with everyone else if she stayed. I am very much looking forward to how their relationship develops in season 2 and beyond. And Lucy has never been around dogs before. Canine eXperiment Not Found seems to be comfortable with Lucy around.
Vault-Tec and Bud got what they were looking for in their breeding program with both Lucy and Norm. Both are intelligent and inquisitive. Which may turnout to not be a good thing for Vault-Tec. Lucy showed her adventuring chops in the first episode when she and Hank were running to vault 32 and she stopped to get ammo off one of the fallen. It will be interesting to see what Norm decides to do. I don't think he wants to just give up and I wouldn't trust RoomBud not to kill me after I was in the pod.
Very much looking forward to Season 2.

I'm so glad this show was as good as it is. I was braced for another terrible adaptation that completely crapped on the source material like the Halo series did, but I was caught completely off guard by how much the showrunners obviously respected and cared about the Fallout universe. While some aspects of the plotline (mostly just the Vault-Tec backstory) are iffy and not very well thought-through, the characters, acting, tone and overall aesthetic of the world was spot on. And on top of that, the show's success has really lit a fire under Bethesda's collective backsides to get working on Fallout 5, so now I can be hyped for that too.

Wilzig said to Lucy, basically, will you want the same things when you've become a different animal? This applies to Lucy and Max, who both changed over the season.
Vault Tec probably didn't drop the first bomb, or didn't tell Barb, because she wouldn't risk Janey like that. She at the minimum would need lots of Radaway.
At the Summit of Evil, there was somebody lurking in the shadows, presumably Barb and Bud's boss. I would speculate it will be the voice of the narrator, Ron Perlman.
Thadeus is either a ghoul or a super mutant, we'll see. Kat's hint may be true, or Lee built her own cryotube. I doubt that Vault Tec wasn't spying on her and wouldn't trust her.
The real center of the story, the chicken humper, had better be back. His line readings were insanely entertaining.
Getting the feeling from Lee that she and Rose were lovers, which would make Hank even worse than we know now. Petty man.
Norm is interesting, Will he outwit Bud or get frozen and thawed out by Lucy? He's not violent by nature.
Bud does thaw people out for short term jobs like cleaning up 32, their work was sloppy, like middle management would be
Dogmeat should be fine, she has plot armor.. But she's no Roosevelt.

I think whether Vault-Tec threw the first bomb or not is not even that important because they for sure wanted to do it. Whether Janey is alive or not we'll hopefully see in season 2 when we maybe learn more about what happened right after the fall.
Norm might not be violent by nature, but he also wasn't brave - until he went into vault 32, and then into vault 31. There's clearly some development going on with his character as well, away from being "too chicken".
