Absolutely superb review David. Been thinking about one of these for a while now. Looks very good.😎👍🏻 But you need to get going mate, at 8:08 that dog is leaving you for dead!🐾😁
lovely review mate, will get one!
Been thinking about getting an action cam for a long time. Will be heading to do some riding in the Canadian Rockies this summer, and I might have to consider picking up one of these before I go, because I can just imagine how good the pictures / video I could get with something like this would be.
Do you know what mount we can use for an aero road type of bike
I bought an X4 myself - my first Insta360 product; so far, it's the top-tier spec 360 camera until GoPro gets back into the game; have used it to record a few road and mountain biking outings. I find that the video is best shown on laptop computer screens and smaller.
Are you Holding the camera on the bike all the time?
Goos sharing. I have x3 and now x4. This is a game changer.
Great vid! Is the main lens cover replaceable? I think that is a major design flaw of previous ones. Yeah, you can use lens protector but that has less quality and lens flare in previous ones.
Yes replaceable easy, and no real picture degradation. Someone did a video on this yesterday. There is two lens protector, the normal and the premium, but the normal looks better. But the premium more resistant.
Nice...I've been looking for a camera to capture the difference between men's awareness and women's awareness when you pass them on a trail. This might be the one.
How do you mount the camera on your road bike? I have flat aero bars. Do they sell a mounting kit? I want that out front 3rd person look
They sell a bike mounting kit which goes in the stem top cap
Dont use the MTB kit. Get an out-front computer mount that has a gopro-esque three-prong attachment on the bottom. Then all you need is a 3-prong insta360 adapter. Looks less ridiculous than having a windwill on top of your stem.
Hi great videos Dave love you our content.
When did you get the bike stem mount please ???
The stem mount is new and only arrived a week ago
With the single lens mode looking as good as it does. Does this mean that the X4 is a better option than the Ace Pro? Be great to hear your thoughts on how they compare (360 filming aside) as I have been considering the Ace Pro, but this does look a more versatile option. Thanks Dave!
Good question Rich, I'll do a more detailed comparison for you when I'm home from travelling. If I wasn't interested in the 360 I would shoot for the Ace Pro
@@davidarthur Perfect, thanks Dave. Can't wait to see a full comparison video. All the best pal.
Good review, thanks! That's a cool looking mount at 7:54. Do you have link or product info about it?
Yes, interested too by this mount system ! Ref please ?
Haven't upgraded from my Go Pro Hero 4 action camera until now as i bought the insta360 X4 since i have always been interested in the 360 camera.
Be good for my holiday trips and motorcycle videos.
At 6:41...How do you sync apple data? Is that just a feature in the insta360 desktop editor?
No it works on the app, just click on stats and then choose Apple
Great review David. Excuse the unrelated question, but I like your red jacket! Which one is it please?! 😃
It’s a Castelli GTX jacket
I have a x2 but would love an upgrade but I don’t think they do trade ins in the uk ??? Any thoughts ?
Never bought a GoPro but I would seriously consider one of these for ebike dashcam
It is the same as the X3. Just software revision makes it 8k. Still the same 1/2” sensor.
What was the make and model of the mountain bike in this video ?
Canyon Lux Trail
Do you lose all your settings if you drop out a dead battery for a new one if you happen to be on a long ride?
Nope the settings are not changed
@@davidarthur Good to know!
Is the lens replaceable?
I don't think so that's why it's best to use the new lens guard
The insta is a nice tool. But its just too heavy for roadie…😢
I hope the Tour de France goes well for you this year if you're worried about 200 grams.
It gets better! You use a Virb in all your videos. Which weighs 177g... So you are actually complaining about 30 grams, which is right over a tablespoon of salt. I love the internet.
How can a video be sponsored and views still be your own 🤔
Because they have no input in my video content, I’m not told what to say etc
Exactly right.
If the video has been “sponsored”, it’s been paid for by insta360 and is therefore an advertisement, not a review.
I guarantee that if David said the camera was crap compared to a GoPro, his “sponsors” would soon dry up.
It’s pretty obvious.
A sponsored, 'honest' review, lacking any critical element whatsoever.... how could that be ;). the 360 cams are useful tools but not without a lot of drawbacks, including the form factor, weight, fragility of lenses, and having to use the awful insta software before you can edit (unless you use premier). No way I'd bother upgrading my X3 to an X4.
The X4 quality is so much better than the X3 and actually makes it usable for videos I make for the first time. The lens guard also fixes the lens issue and the form factor and weight, will smaller lighter is always better but that’s just how it is - still fits in a jersey pocket nicely
@@davidarthur Agreed. What it's about is you can shoot now and then angle the framing later. And that's worth it. I was riding with my son and when I passed him, I was able to turn the video to get a great shot of him from the side. And when I went over railroad tracks, I could point it down to show how rough it was.... all of this later when I was publishing the video. And for safetey's sake, you can catch a driver pulling up next to you and causing trouble without having to turn your camera. The camera will get it. And in racing, the cool thing is if somebody wrecks, you can pan to the side to see them as you go by. And with wildlife... wow, it's cool. I caught a baby deer riding alongside the road with me for about 30 seconds. If I had a gopro, it wouldn't have caught it at all.
Looks like you peddling sideways …sounds like you shouting up insta butt Insta a will give best reviews send camera over ….views are my own …you can see the stick in the sun so the hiding the stick is still there …but take no notice me ,cool video on how to use it ,footage looks 1080p to me ,the stick extends that long you said how long is that ,give the other cameras away to your subscribers, good idea ….Just ride bikes nice video 👌
nice
good for a short rides..........
you've tested it then? with two batteries and a 512gb card it goes all day, more than enough footage to spend days editing anyway! I tend to do short clips, couple of minutes at a time, and this way it lasts ages
