Richborough Power Station near Sandwich in Kent, demolished in seconds via controlled explosives - 11th March 2012

Opened in 1962.
The powerstation and cooling towers can be seen in several scenes of the 2008 movie Son of Rambow.
The towers were clearly visible from almost anywhere in Thanet and the surround area and have stood as an affectionate landmark for all my life.
They were also clearly seen from Royal St George's Golf course in Sandwich - home of the Open Championship (July 2011).
The towers will be missed by all those who live in the area.
