And once again 2 cool places destined to be knocked down. Out with the classics and in with the rubbish flats that have all the character of a bag of flour.

of many of the abandoned houses ive seen, this late 50s one looks SO COMFY. i really dislike boxy houses built after 1950 over here in iceland.. but that's a house i'd love to own. love the warm colors and ceiling high windows in the back part. also love the black & white themes while its colorful elsewhere.
such a shame its' empty and has water damage (?) i normally don't like houses from these eras, at least not here. very boring... but that was so vibrant and retro, love the colors-

The first bungalow was friggin amazing- such a cool timewarp and just so cool- why can’t we have interesting design like that now rather than bland grey and white ffs. It had a very confusing layout though - why so many bathrooms? It almost seemed like two dwellings in one. Great video dude

    Hi Paul,
What a great explore. Love the step back in time to tease the lovers of late 50's early 60's properties. in it's day this would have been a large beautiful home but the obvious issues with rising damp and a busy road are likely to have contributed to its early end date.
Thank you for your continuing efforts to document these gems

Hi Paul, thanks for sharing - 2 houses, bonus!! These houses wouldn’t need much to make them rentable. I am sure with so many out of work at the moment there would be those who would love the opportunity to have a roof over their heads. Would also discourage squatters and/or vandals too. Stay safe and well, until next time, kind regards, Di.

Thanks again Urbex Indigo for two very interesting explores of spacious 1950s homes. The facades of both the homes are typical of the 1950s. I love the lime stone facade of the second house you explored. Absolutely love the original pink bathroom in the first home. What was unexpected though, was when you were greeted by some quirky interior renovations towards the back of each home. A mix of renovations for sure, especially in the second house. Looks like the extensions were added in the late 1970s to early 1980s and the kitchen cupboards were more early 1990s. The dark tiled bathroom appeared to have a makeover in the 1990s. The first house seemed like a rabbit warren though and appeared to be water damage for sure. Perhaps an elderly man last resided there and sadly people have trashed it in sections. Most certainly two very unique homes though.

The first house felt like a 3-family home. The one side being the main family, the second side a mother-in-law suite and the upstairs being a rental. Interesting set-up. When you were looking at some of the things left by squatters, I thought I spotted some drug paraphenalia. Be careful about those things. Dangerous to touch. The second house looked as if the whole back portion had either been added or redone completely. The one thing that stood out for me was the light fixtures in the two front rooms. beautiful. Another satisfying explore.

Yet another 2 great old classic homes. All these take me back to my youth. My Aunt lived in some grand old homes over the years. Googled one from Beecroft NSW that she lived in. I was under 10 when I went to that one so over 50 years ago I was last there. To my shock the house is still standing between 2 new ones, the weird thing about it is they moved out and then came back a few years later to build on their land behind it. Now the one behind is gone but that first one still stands. Go figure. Just love those old classics.

I had a pink and black bathroom in Tennessee with the separate shower like that. I believe the house was built in the 50s. Liked the terrazzo floors. Too bad they were not taken care of. The house had a elder care facility to it with those hospital doors. Maybe they got a deal on them along with the commercial toilet in the blue bathroom. Liked the second house. Rooms were a good size and had a good flow. Still like the old 20s homes. The traffic was unbelievable. Give me the countryside any day.

Usually the toilet is separated because it is on a separate water system. In the old houses in the UK the toilets were in separate rooms from the bath and shower, so ppl bath and shower without someone wanting to use the toilet. The loo would have a small wash basin in it.

But I'm with you, I wouldn't waste that much space for a bath room. My bath room has an inside red curtain and the outside curtain makes you feel like you're under the water with dolfins and fish on it, also matching picture on the john with a soft light blue rug.
On the wall is another under water fish, turtles and dolfins peel and stick. The inside of the door has a round port-hole like on a ship with an under water scean and fish. 😎

This is my first time viewing your work. Interesting situations - The shower in the laundry and toilet out in the patio area were reminiscent of when outdoor facilities were used to keep servants and work persons from intruding on the "real" family. The same as the grand stairway being in the front for family use and the plain servants entrance and stairs in the back of the house. Also, the separation of bathing rooms and toilet rooms reminds me of Russian floor plans. That sort of arrangement is common, even today. May seem strange but is convenient when one wishes to linger at their bath, yet, the toilet is not blocked for those who need it. Felt very sad for those beautiful plants left to wither and die of neglect.

That huge bathroom is a surprise for that size house, really should have had a jetted tub.

From the newspapers date, the 1st home was vacant for about several months. I do love the chimney aesthetics and carpet designs. Not a fan of PINK bathrooms. I don't know why but pink makes me cringe sooo bad... But seeing a bidet is a rarity.
But I absolutely love the second home's kitchen. Especially the floor and cabinets. The cabinets are most likely 80's. Probably early-to-mid 80's. the oven's are mostly 2000's era.

Near the backdoor - I don’t know if it was tiles or lino on the floor - but I like it!

Looks massive inside. 2000 or more square ft, maybe? Like the house, but not crazy about parts of it. That kitchens way to dark to cook or try and grope around for anything. I think if it was all lit up with soft bright lighting fixtures, and rustic decor, it could be really cosy. The lighting would bring out the warmth of the wood. Have a great one, and cheers for the share.

Good one Paul! Casablanca ceiling fans are very popular in California.
