Hey Kyle, you mentioned you run the air fork much lower than the stock setting (139psi). Just wondering what your base compression setting is when running the psi lower than what's recommended stock
WP valving has always sucked......the Air psi setting (front end sag) is the same as the spring preload (if it were springs) which keeps one from bottoming out not less than 1 to 1.5" from fork foot (and not for comfort), the compression and rebound control the comfort....if you go lower with your preload psi (you better be riding at a slower speed) you'll blow through through the stroke faster ending in disaster (that the compression and rebound can't react accordingly). Think of it this way, if one is a fat ass and they're sitting on the incorrect (too low) shock spring rating, compression/rebound at the shock becomes basically useless and fatass will still bottom out....ending in disaster.
I have a '20 Husky TEi 300. The bike pings and rev's on decelerations from high speed (to full brakes). I turned the bike off and let the ambient air pressure sensor re-adjust. Same thing. Disappointed that I will have to spend close to $1,000 on a GET ECU to have this problem solved...Wish I would have just stuck with a FX 350 or 450.
Wrote a 22,000$ check why the hell hasn’t ktm helped you out yet but beta has! I understand they’re a smaller company but it Makes me side towards beta for that exact reason
Because basically he is making money like a raffle from the sweepstakes, paying for and probably profiting from those raffle tickets entries in volume, to be fair, entry is very reasonable, and the jackpot is very awesome. BETA probably only did it for exposure and advertising. KTM's are already known in the MX world as Ready To Race and the BEST. Advertising wouldn't help sales.
Recon Roger I respectfully disagree man advertising always helps sales there’s many other manufacturers out there still getting enough business to stay running so there’s still an audience to be reached in my opinion
@@Lostonabike The reason I say that, is there are only X amount of Dirt Bike sales every year, and KTM generally sells out. They are in a great position in respect to market share, but maybe your right, a little extra exposure could drive a few more sales.
I bought my new 2019 KTM because of watching Kyle’s videos, Very informative. My second choice would be Beta but they are a little hard to find. I have 5 ktm dealers within 30 minutes drive
I don't know if you read the comments, but the reason that bikes don't have spark arrestors is because of EPA regulations on manufactures. The factory has to produce a bike that is "not legal" besides on closed courses, because technically 2-strokes are illegal in the U.S. besides on a closed course. To put spark arrestors on KTM's would imply that people can take them on trails.
That logic is twisted. First, 2 strokes are LEGAL in the US. They are not legal to be used in the US Forest, unless they have a spark arrester. The manufacturer does not use spark arrestors because of two main reasons, 1. they are more expensive and 2. If the spark arrester fails to work, the manufacturer could be liable for any fires caused. There is NO spark arrester that lasts forever. BTW, I love your channel, RacerRed!
Kyle if you had to choose only one bike to ride, Which manufacturer, 250-300 & model would you choose for tight woods trail riding? Mostly rocks & hard clay.
Hey Kyle, i had a 2017 ktm 300 xc, put 200 hours on it, 3 pistons never touched the bottom end, , i am east coast canada, lots of dirt roads and atv trails, not much single track but some steep and rocky stuff, i actually went the other way and ran a 48 sprocket and the bike worked well for me, i am more of a 4th gear up rider on the power, even with the gear change i had no issues doing steep stuff, i am a former 450 rider so a little clutch work is no prob on the steep nasty stuff, just sold it, i want a new one, ad cant decide if the 250 is what i want or to go to the 300 again, do you prefer the 250 in more open faster riding? i like a bile with punch, was debating on the 350 xcf, but i am almost 47, still very fast rider, but the 2 strokes dont wear me out like the 4 strokes, what do you think................should i go for the 250??
i bought the 250, for woops or faster stuff the engine characteristics seem better for that type of riding, 300 for first gear and second all the way just depends on what type of riding you do
How you keep them that clean..i know you've talked about that but wth? To get mine that clean it takes me 6-8 hours and it's taxing on the body. They always look brand new. Take that as a compliment. Love your Videos..👊😀
Washing powder mixed with dish detergent & warm water, soak on bike and powerwash off. Might need a handbrush for bad spots. Dry with compressed air or leafblower and give the whole bike a coat of dwf/dw40 etc. The film of oil will help with your next ride so dirt does not stick well to the bike.
Props, best review i've seen on these bikes anywhere. Do you think the the 250 TPI is too much bike for an amateur/novice? I ride sports bikes and have a little MX experience. Looking to get first bike for trail riding and think i'll outgrow the 150 too quickly. As you said it's a big investment (£8,300 here in the UK!) and i'm looking at keeping it long term. Cheers.

Just wanted to say thanks for the videos and I have been watching them for awhile. I really like the detail you put into your videos. Thanks for your hard work.
hey just curious...what do you think about Reiju Dirt Bikes...i am planning on getting a dirt bike but the dirt bikes found in my region is all chinese brands...Are Reiju any better than those chinese brands like motorhead and crossfire???thanks
Please explain the difference between the 4 stroke 300 and the 300 TPI bikes. Why don't you ride the 4 stroke ones? Are the TPI bikes better then the 4 strokes in your opinion?
Hi Kyle. Just purchased a 300 XC. The dealer is giving me a large discount 1time purchase on a list of parts and accessories. What would you recommend be on my list?
3 questions. Does the 2017 KTM 6 day come with counter balanced engine? Do the XC's come wired for a head and tail light? What differences do you find between KTM's linked vs non linked rear suspension ? Which rear suspension is superior?? Thanks.
So you mentioned that turn the power valve screw could have been a way to void the warranty in 2019, did they mention for 2020 that you can’t touch the power valve still? Or are we good to go on playing it it?
Mine definitely needs the idle screw mod, it stalls and idles way too low. Power valve needed to be turned out too. How do you know if the ambient air sensor is working properly? Love the bike.
Hey great info👍👍. My question is, Does it have enough low end grunt to get my big 230lb butt into a wheelie for a, no run up log hop? I currently ride a 2019 WR 450 F but, i am looking for a lighter bike. In your opinion, would this be a good upgrade. I am in Texas and don’t really do any super hard riding.
Hey Dave, I’m 230 and just bought 2020 300xc tpi. As long as powervalve screw is flush with cases, yes. Mine was cranked in 3 entire turns upon pickup at dealer. It will easily loft logs. It’s fast and linear but in my opinion doesn’t have super mid range. Bottom and top really strong. Mid smooth. The bike will not do anything to surprise you other than handle all terrain perfectly and well composed.
It would be nice if they came with skidplate but they would come with plastic ones and not everyone wants that, for example my dad has had plastic skidplates on two different bikes, the first one he put a plastic skidplate on didnt even last one race, he has the half of it that stayed on the bike hanging in his garage, the second bike is a dualsport that he didnt plan to ride as hard but when I got older and started to catch up with him he would be forced to push a bit harde and the skidplate has fallen off and deformed itself a number of times now. And also on the first one, he was reluctant to put an aluminum one on because of the noise and the frame has major dents because of it, but finally he put an aluminum one on and there is a gnarly dent it it, if it wasnt there the frame would be no more. I've seen so many times where plastic ones didnt hold up to hard riding and I just wouldn't want to ride without an aluminum one.
How about a bike cleaning video? Mine gets covered in mud and everything in between, and even after scrubbing it still looks dirty. Also cleaning under the seat where all the electronics are at, how do you clean there?
Hey Kyle, Thanks for the video. I really would like to purchase the 300 exc w. But could I buy an xc 300 and put headlight etc to make it recreation reg?? Also I'm a noob when it comes to off road. But am 29 and 100 kgs. So I would like the power. Your thoughts please.
Mojo_Nesar 8 the XC's come with the wiring harness so the W lights will plug straight in but the tail light needs the W rear guard for mounting the light.
They are good bikes but I prefer the husky bikes they give you some extras for just a little bit more like suspension upgrades and handlebars and just some goodies
I always see you talk about moving your levers in to not break them but even so if/when you do why not just get some asv breakaway levers? Won’t ever break them again? Seems like a good investment to me
Does anyone know if you can still upgrade to 250 to a 300 with just a piston kit? It's my understanding this is the case with the non TPI models. I imagine this would need software upgrades too for the TPI to function correctly?
Agree 100% with your dislikes. Common Ktm, let’s get it together... so close to a perfect bike, let’s not screw up basics like spark arrestors and kickers..
mrrandy1 No it’s self mixing, you put the mix in one compartment and gas in the other and it mixes itself for elevation changes leans and gets richer as it adjusts to the elevation
I have a 19 XC 300 non TPI and love it. Compared to my buddies 21 300TPI it has much more power with a nice smooth delivery. Way more fun to ride. I did convert the forks to the Lucky MX tech spring kit and feel I have the best bike money could buy.
I did, I bought the 2020 yz250x and I love it. I rode my uncles 2019 6 day ktm 300 and I liked it but it doesn’t hit like my yz. The yz is a great trail bike but it also jumps really good and motos almost the same as the mx bike
Thorn Carnegie Umm mo I shouldn’t of. I get killer deals on Yamaha parts and I got an amazing deal on my bike and it is not even close to being stock and I am still in it sharper then an orange bike. Plus man it’s 80% the rider and everyone knows it who cares what bikes people like. Another thing even if the ktm was better and cheaper I would still buy a yz just because I know how angry guys like you get on the trail when you get passed by a bike that was essentially built in 2006 😂

hey just curious...what do you think about Reiju Dirt Bikes...i am planning on getting a dirt bike but the dirt bikes found in my region is all chinese brands...Are Reiju any better than those chinese brands like motorhead and crossfire???thanks
Great video and scenery. Where are you guys riding in the mountains?
Please explain the difference between the 4 stroke 300 and the 300 TPI bikes. Why don't you ride the 4 stroke ones? Are the TPI bikes better then the 4 strokes in your opinion?
On the fence of buying one. How many hours do you guys put on a piston? The lean TPI worries me a bit..
Hi Kyle. Just purchased a 300 XC. The dealer is giving me a large discount 1time purchase on a list of parts and accessories. What would you recommend be on my list?
Thanks for another great vid
3 questions. Does the 2017 KTM 6 day come with counter balanced engine? Do the XC's come wired for a head and tail light? What differences do you find between KTM's linked vs non linked rear suspension ? Which rear suspension is superior?? Thanks.
So you mentioned that turn the power valve screw could have been a way to void the warranty in 2019, did they mention for 2020 that you can’t touch the power valve still? Or are we good to go on playing it it?
I like the longer format. I get burned when your videos are short lol.
Do they come stock with linkage guards?
Kyles loves his kickstart haha. Can’t blame him tho it’s just funny.
Hey Kyle,
Thanks for the video.
How can you unlock the bike so it will continuously be compensating for altitude? I hate having to stop to turn my bike off on a big climb
They are good bikes but I prefer the husky bikes they give you some extras for just a little bit more like suspension upgrades and handlebars and just some goodies
I have 5 hours on mine... awesome bike so far!
Do they sell a headlight and taillight kit for the 2020 KTM 300 XC?
Idk but the xc-w's and xc's are basically the same bike for 2020. Might be able to buy xc-w parts.
How often do you replace your top ends and the oil pumps on your bikes?
Can you run cam2 - 110 octane on these ktm
Bikes ??
I always see you talk about moving your levers in to not break them but even so if/when you do why not just get some asv breakaway levers? Won’t ever break them again? Seems like a good investment to me
Have you ridden a Husaberg FE570?
hello, for a 210 pound rider, mid level, would a ktm 250 TPI 2stroke be ok?
What trail was that at 1:32?
AMEN ... KYLE BROTHERSON AMEN
SPARK ARREST IS A MUST HAVE
Hi mate is this the same as exc here in Oz
Does the back rubber fender still wear out the back fork?
Let’s say the battery dies, can the TPI be pushed start?
Late to the party but does do the 150 come with tpi?
Does anyone know if you can still upgrade to 250 to a 300 with just a piston kit? It's my understanding this is the case with the non TPI models. I imagine this would need software upgrades too for the TPI to function correctly?
Agree 100% with your dislikes. Common Ktm, let’s get it together... so close to a perfect bike, let’s not screw up basics like spark arrestors and kickers..
Was kinda expecting a more in depth view of the differences (riding and hardware) between the 250 and 300
hey love the hat i got from u but were are the entries for contest
Where are those trails you're riding? Would love to ride those trails!
so you dont have to manually pre-mix the gas and oil anymore?
mrrandy1 No it’s self mixing, you put the mix in one compartment and gas in the other and it mixes itself for elevation changes leans and gets richer as it adjusts to the elevation
@@xafbxmoto269 thank you.
Can you install a built in light in the 250 or no
if my bike is running rich down low can i use the air crew to adjusted it
Great review! You’re a true professional! I’m sold
Hey guys, is it worth it buying new or would u recommend saving some cash on a preowned 17-19?
I have a 19 XC 300 non TPI and love it. Compared to my buddies 21 300TPI it has much more power with a nice smooth delivery. Way more fun to ride. I did convert the forks to the Lucky MX tech spring kit and feel I have the best bike money could buy.
Did you ever try the red power valve spring?
I have a strange question... Do the TPI bikes still smell like a 2 stroke?
Does anyone know if these ktm handguards are runnable on the 2020 husqvarna bikes?
great video 👍 that dirt bike looks so beautiful I'm really hoping I'll win it🤞🤞
We are all drooling 😉👊✊💨💨
So what about husqvarna 250, 300 isn't that better then ktm?
Would you recommend one of these 250 with TPI for a person learning to ride motorcycles?
no more of a air cooled lower performance bike to start you off but later you should get something a bit more powerful
Nice review !
Damn you making me want to buy a new bike and switch back to a 2 stroke!
Come on over!
I did, I bought the 2020 yz250x and I love it. I rode my uncles 2019 6 day ktm 300 and I liked it but it doesn’t hit like my yz. The yz is a great trail bike but it also jumps really good and motos almost the same as the mx bike
@@xafbxmoto269 should've got a 250xc then hits harder then a 250x and 300 six days and does everything a 250x can but better
