  • Okay, this week I am actually wrapping up the Core Twenty.
    Paizo has recently announced that Arazni, the Unyielding, will be stepping into the Core Twenty deities after the War of Immortals in late 2024/4724. So, I figured I could get ahead of things by providing a primer on all things Arazni prior to the war. Arazni's story is equal parts tragic and inspiring. She is tenacious, unforgiving, and capable of enduring any indignity. After nearly a millenium of shame and torment, she has risen again as the Unyielding, more powerful than ever before.

    I think it is important to note that Arazni is not just a woman, but specifically a woman from a culture allegorical to the Aztecs. This is important because a lot of the things that happened to her, are very similar to things that happened to native women, after their lands were invaded by Europe. There also are parallels between the guerrilla tactics used by many freedom fighters in colonized nations and the espionage focused tactics of the Crimson reclaimers.
    These parallels, as well as everything mentioned in this Video are the reasons why I believe that Arazni is one of the most important characters in ttrpg history.

    There is one more interesting detail about Arazni. Her defeat against Tar-Baphon was more about intelligence than power. Tar-Baphon managed to capture Arazni only after Ervin Roslar unintentionally leaked some crucial information about her to Wispering way. It puts an interesting perspective on Crimson Reclaimers` heavy focus on espionage. Also Arazni`s divine intercession gives you some usefull info (moderate boon) or spills the beans to your enemy (minor curse).

    You did great on this, and all of them. Your break is well deserved. Enjoy. Arazni plays a major role in one of my campaigns and interestingly, Besmara the other, so that should be fun. Anyway good job these are great.

    I remember the first (technically second but the Mouse Guard RPG one-shot joke character doesn't count) TTRPG character I ever played was a sorceress who escaped her abuse after poisoning and killing her tyrannical parents. I've always wondered how I would go about porting her to Pathfinder 2e and the moment I read about Arazni I knew she'd respect the Unyielding a great amount, potentially even as a devout worshipper.

    In Geb's meager defense: He had a long history long before those knights doomed Arazni of Disproportionate Retribution, both against Nex and anyone else who attacked him or his nation. That's not a condoning what he did, it is objectively horrible, but it does provide context.

    • @Podfinder
      @Podfinder  Месяц назад

      Oh, yeah. The knights of Ozem absolutely struck first and share some of the blame for Arazni's fate. But I agree, this does nothing to absolve Geb of the incredibly evil deeds he did to Arazni.

    Hey, your videos are really well made. Thanks for your effort.
    I love the last breath pantheon from the Firebrands. You did two of the three godesses. May I ask for either a synopsis of the pantheon or a portrait of Milani?

    • @Podfinder
      @Podfinder  5 месяцев назад

      Milani is getting her own video in a few months if you don't mind waiting.
      Short version of the pantheon (for those unfamiliar): they proclaim the importance of striking out at your enemies even with your last breath. This might be to inspire others, or to hurt your enemies one last time.

      @@Podfinder thanks for the synopsis that O completely missed 😅
      PF2e is not so popular around here
      I tried an international party but finding a slot within a timezone is hard, finding one in 5 different one is nerve wrecking.
      But I have an idea for a dwarf fighting against the bbeg and his minions and is "chosen" by the Last Breath to be a battle oracle.

    Is there anything recorded about her relationship with Pharasma? They both have an antipathy for the undead, but I haven’t heard anything about Pharasma taking pity on the unwillingly raised. Arazni should be an affront to Pharasma, but she could also be a possible powerful ally. Know anything about it?

    • @Podfinder
      @Podfinder  Месяц назад

      I haven't found anything about their relationship yet, but I assume that will change as Arazni takes her place in the core 20 after War of Immortals.

  • @niktheseamonkey

    I say this seriously, not a joke. Arazni echoes Monica Lewinsky, a lady shamed for things done to her by people with power over her.

    • @Podfinder

      I had never considered that parallel. But now that you've bought it up, I really like it.

      @@Podfinder as an American millennial, I think a moment of clarity is when I realized how sexist everyone was based on how they talked about her.
      Saw this quote earlier,
      “We were really told "she slept her way to the top" instead of "men in power abused their power by withholding promotions and threatening demotions if they did not receive sex from their workers"”
      End of me getting preachy about politics in RUclips comments lol

    Its unfortunate that she's neutral evil, but given all she's been through i fully understand why. But i could see her being more chaotic neutral. Honestly even neutral good.

    • @Podfinder
      @Podfinder  3 месяца назад +2

      I think Arazni is one of the deities who will benefit most narratively from the abandonment of alignment in the Remaster. I certainly understand the Neutral Evil alignment, but it seems too boxed-in for her complex story. The lack of alignment will (hopefully) encourage players to look into her edicts further and understand her history.

    • @RykerDavis123

      @@Podfinder i absolutely agree. She's way to complex to be locked like that. Especially given that relationship to/ respect for/ rivalry with iomedae

      I think the fact that despite being neutral evil she had such a wide range of alignments that could follow her was an attempt to deal with that complexity in a simple system. Alignment going away certainly I think benefits characters like her the most

    • @Podfinder
      @Podfinder  23 дня назад

      @@tuffemily1431 I definitely agree that Arazni is one of the characters who benefits most from the removal of alignment.
