Prior to the Popcorn Pumper or the hot air poppers - in the 70s was the all in one bowl popper like the Hamilton Beach Butter-Up that was endorsed by Joe Namath! My mom disliked ours likely because all of it couldn't be immersed and cleaned! Haha!

Got a Hotdogger as a wedding gift in 1972. The mircowave replaced it as it did a lot of these gadgets. I have an electric can opener with a knife shapener. Two words, but wait, there is more…Ron Popeil.

I think the hot air popcorn popper works better than the microwave popper. The air popper blows out the popped corn after it pops. The microwave popper continues to cook the popped corn until the microwave stops. This results in either burned popcorn or unpopped kernels with usually 20% unpopped kernels.
How can you talk about 1980's gadgets without mentioning Black & Decker? No Spacemaker toaster oven that mounted under the upper kitchen cabinets or electric jar opener.

Hot Air Popcorn Poppers are still around but the quality has gone down from that original Popcorn Pumper with regards to unpopped kernels.
