Hello HJ. I'm not really a vanishing point pens but this one intrigued me. The depth of the color was akin to looking into a pool of water. How beautiful it is. The silver ring on the body was tasteful, shuttle, but stunning. Nice touch. Brilliant video. You always come through with a winner. Keep them coming my friend. Hope you and your family are enjoying Italy. I appreciate you sharing some of your trip with us on Instagram.
love Pilot fp’s, they make up the bulk of my collection by far, but not sure about it’s weight: most of my fp’s are resin and relatively lightweight - think I’d need to try one out before i commit; but thanks for this review, as always:)
Last week, I received 2 new Pilot Vanishing Nib fountain pens ( a medium nib and a fine nib ). I sent both to Mark Bacas in Georgia to increase the flow rate in both. He is a great nibmeister. This is a great video. Thank you again. RS. Canada
Love the McLaren reference! The VP is my most luxurious pen, and while I am somewhat "ink promiscuous " I usually refill a Pilot cartridge for a bit more capacity. A great look at an exquisite pen!
Aye, you seem to have a "passion" for motor vehicles for I noted at least three references to such. Visual appeal frequently is the key to alerting one to a FP. And this one certainly does with the elegance and depth of color. I, too, thought the ring enhanced the appearance. Your enthusiasm sparks enthusiasm in so many of your viewers definitely including me. At one time I owned a vanishing point. I am not sure that another one is on my list. Ink capacity is a concern for me although I enjoyed that you are ink promiscuous. Colors make me happy and so, too, do ink bottles. So I can encompass the joy of being able to change ink frequently. Oxblood is on my list without question. P.S. I acquired a Lamy Safari sparked by your comments. What a fabulous pen with a price that brings joy to the budget. Another is on my list but this time with a broad nib.
I am so glad you have found inspiration in my videos. Thanks so much. Thanks also for all your kind comments. Ink capacity is definitely a concern with this one.
This looks like such a great pen. My issue is I have a strange grip on my pens so completely smooth pens hurt my hands if I write for more than a few minutes. I'd love to find a nice 150 to 200 dollar pen with a more triangular grip.
A lovely, lovey pen! I probably would spend that kind of money on a Conway Stewart first, but I do have a Namiki vanishing point from the 1980s, I guess (a gift), and a current run Pilot Vanishing Point, the former with an EF nib, and the latter with a B. Both superb writers -- and my Majohn vanishing point gives perfectly fine service as well. Thanks for this excellent review!
It has nothing to do with this video, but I feel it is an interesting trivia to know, that cursive writing may have been invented because, when writing used quill, it may cause blotting to lift the quill from the paper and put it back, so words had to be written in one continuous line.
Thank's a lot for that interesting insight in pilot's history! What always held me back from buying a vp, the annoying clicking sound, is (finally!) eliminated in this model. I'm running out of excuses for not getting one. 🤨 Currently I'm deciding which will be my first capless pen: This VP LS (but in matte black please: That would make the facetted ring really pop), or (as collector of german pens) do I tend more towards the LAMY dialog cc? (What a great travel set that would make together with my pico ballpoint!) Who knows? At the moment? I really don't... I saw people open this pen by turning the release ring counterclockwise. Did you try that? What's your experience?
The LS isn't just an automatically retracting Vanishing Point-the fit and finish is a notch above. I'm glad you touched on that, because most reviewers don't. Then again, your pen commentary is far more than a simple "review."
Ink promiscuous? Guilty as charged here too, LOL! I love my Pilot VPs so much that I can't be bothered to get any other Pilot fountain pens. This LS is so handsome though....
Pilot makes a variety of blue VPs for less than $200. But they're the clicky kind. The I think the Decimo is thinner than the regular VP, and about the same price, also mostly $200.
Are the pop-up affiliate bubbles from Walmart intentional? I don't mind too much, but it seemed like an odd choice for an affiliate. There are so many other wonderful pen sellers.
I agree that Silent Luxury sounds better. However, that's in English. In Japanese the language is kind of reversed as sentences end in a verb. Like instead of "Hemingway bought a pen". In Japanese it would read "Hemingway pen bought".
I really wish I didn't watch so many fountain pen videos. It's hard on the wallet.
The thrill of watching lingers long after the shock of the asking prices fades.
😂💯
Thank you for the history and information on this model. Pilot nibs are great.
Pilot Explorer is an underrated model and a joy to use!
pilot e95s is a marvel of simple elegance meeting flawless performance. I will always circle back to it
It was a great day to hear your enthusiasm and well-chosen words. Thanks for the history and for showcasing that gorgeous Capless LS!
Thank you very much!
Lovely pen, and I've never met a Pilot I didn't love, but that's a hefty price. Thanks for another great video, hope you're having a blast!
Thank you!
Beautiful pen and color. I own the vanishing point (prior version in 1.1 stub) wonderful writer and a lovely pen. Thanks for the video.
Great video! Thanks, HJ. I hope that yall are having a great time.
I've never seen this pen before. It's a beauty and with that oxblood perfection!
Thank you!
Can't help but notice the Top Gear reference you did there at the end, amazing video as always!
This whole episode was inspired in part by that show. Actually, much of my presentation is inspired by Clarkson.
I love the black matte version of this pen
Good video and review. Thank you! I had it in matt black, but with many pens it didn’t reach the keeper pile.
That’s a beautiful pen! Thank you for sharing this one!
Thank you for watching.
Hi HJ! Really enjoy the videos where you give a history of the pen companies! Very interesting and informative! Thanks!
Thanks! I am glad you enjoy the history.

great videos in your channel and very enjoy your show and fountain pen experience, and the style that you gave to each the pen, thanks
Thank you very much!
I like very much videos with historic background like this 😃
Thank you!
Great video HJ, Pilot is my favorite fountain pen brand! I think I prefer the regular vanishing point but the LS does look pretty cool. Cheers
Thank you! I love the Vanishing Point too.

Thank you, I appreciate it! Thanks for watching.
This review was spectacular! The history, the soft music, your description of the look and feel of the pen. Thank you!
Thanks very much for watching!
Nicely done! You always make me want to write :)
I love the closing mechanism on that Vanishing Point! For the record, I also prefer the term 'Capless.' 🙂
Before I started on fountain pens, I used the Pilot G2 series ballpoints. I have nothing but praise for them!!!
I absolutely love my vanishing point!!
Excellent video. Thank you HJ. Stunning pen! Love it!
I was inspired by one of your dark academia videos to start reading ,”The Secret History”
It is a great book, you will love it! I hope!
Fine video. Pilot quality is amazing. I love my Capless but haven’t tried an LS yet.
Thank you for watching!
A wonderful, pleasant video. Now I’ll have to save up for this to add to my collection, thanks HJ!
Thanks, I am glad you enjoy it!
Ohhhhhh that's beautiful!! The mechanism looks great too.
Loved seeing Ophelia in your video 😻
I need more Ophelia!
What a gorgeous pen - I would love to own one ! Thank you for this review MrJones, it was very enjoyable.

Great video and I love the history thank you HJ
Great video & great pen. I'm very impressed by the color of this fountain pen! but definitely out of range as far as its price point is concerned.
Retailers of fountain pens are shooting for the moon.
It’s not cheap. That is true. It is a fun outlier in the Pilot offerings. I am very glad I own it, but I get that.
It is a beautiful piece! The color I always wanted to have on a vehicle...
I like the car comparison, great video

I love your vids Hemingway Jones!!!! !
Thank you!

Great video HJ, I just love the model. Ps you are right SL is so much better.
Totally agree! thanks!

Thank you My Friend. It really is an amazing pen with some distinctions.
Well done.
Ink promiscuous? Guilty as charged here too, LOL! I love my Pilot VPs so much that I can't be bothered to get any other Pilot fountain pens. This LS is so handsome though....
Have you ever used the capless fermo?
Pilot is an amazing company. Did you know that they are also well known in Japan for their jewelry?
I did not. I have never heard mention of this and wish I had. I would have tied that in with this. Thanks!
Beautiful pen 💙 Does Pilot make an less expensive slim vanishing point in a blue?
Pilot makes a variety of blue VPs for less than $200. But they're the clicky kind. The I think the Decimo is thinner than the regular VP, and about the same price, also mostly $200.
I have the Jinhao 10 costs £15
That’s cool and I am happy if you are happy with it. Thanks for watching. I am just glad you enjoyed the video, presumable!
I love Pilot.
My favourite is the 78g+ with a B stub nib.
No one reviews it
A great video pilot makes pen what's the price on it.cute kitty, frank in Oswego, ill
I would love to have this pen but my wallet is telling not now 😢. Great video HJ
I understand! It is a splurge! Thanks for watching!
Is the writing experience the same in the standard Capless and the LS?
Both open and side by side… yes. But there are those other factors that add to the experience of each.
Are the pop-up affiliate bubbles from Walmart intentional? I don't mind too much, but it seemed like an odd choice for an affiliate. There are so many other wonderful pen sellers.
I didn’t put those there. That’s all RUclips.
@@HemingwayJones I got a similar pop up, but was able to dismiss it. :( on YT.
Good day to you, Mr Hemingway I need a pen identified that it is of Italian origin it just say unic. Please help!!!!!!!
I am so sorry, but I really don’t know. That’s not my area of expertise. If I ever see anything I will let you know.
Colors? Nibs?
I agree that Silent Luxury sounds better. However, that's in English. In Japanese the language is kind of reversed as sentences end in a verb. Like instead of "Hemingway bought a pen". In Japanese it would read "Hemingway pen bought".
Always enjoy your videos. Not that this is a bad thing, but do you realize you always way over enuciate your words?
People from different places and different experiences speak differently. I bet to me you would have a very different accent. Thanks for watching.
Quite possibly the case, maybe we will meet somewhere someday and we can discuss fountain pens.
