This process is called "Retting" and it was traditionally used as a method by some native cultures to get strong plant fibers out of thick stubborn plants not easily processed by hand (such as hemp or yucca) for making natural cordage (rope using the reverse wrap method in case anyone wants to youtu e it and learn it).
Making natural (and not so natural. Like plastic bag) cordage is an amazingly useful skill i feel everyone should know ^_^
Thanks for the info 👍👍👍

@@Chettri_Aayush imagination doesn’t have limits, and why did my comment bothered you that much ?
For a large scale production over 3 bags of leaves, retting peepal leaves in a large bucket of water and mud in 3:2 ratio and stirring it every 3 days is easier and quicker. Takes less than 15days and no need to brush, just rinse, leave it to dry in the air to remove the odour.
I make greeting cards and notes with this technique for my friends and they love them.
Yes, I have heard about using fish pond mud but never tried this method personally. What kind of mud do you use ?
@@mariasartistry I believe even plant pot mud will also work because I have seen the leaves naturally go through retting in those wet pots in the rainy seasons
@@BowieTheOctoBear Thanks for sharing your experience 💜💕
Which leaves are these

These trees are considered as sacred trees in my country Sri Lanka because Buddha attained supreme enlightenment under this tree. Each an every Buddhist temple have at least one of these trees and when we go to Sunday school at temple we always collect the leaves and keep inside our books.... 😊. This video brought that childhood memory back to me. Thanks ❤️
Wow. Thanks for the information 🙂🌻👍
I am glad you liked the video and it made you happy. ❤️
Yeah of course it made me happy but all above it what made me really happy was your friendliness. We've never seen but you seems really friendly ❤️. (maybe because we are under the same sky🥺). Keep up your great work. Good luck sis ❤️
Yes, Same😉❤🤘
Even in India, Peepal a.k.a. Ashwasta tree is basically treated as sacred tree and it's also called as "Vriksha Raj" which translates to "Tree King / King of Trees" in English. 😊
@@prajnapratyusha1213 ohh really. thanks for information. I didn't know about it. yeah of course it's king of trees buddy.
We used do this in school days, our teacher use to paint on this skeleton leaf, thank you for refreshing the memories 👍👍
Wow, thats awesome. I am glad it made you happy ❤
Yaaa you're right
Yeah, it was an experiment in our science book when I was in 6th grade.... Nobody had patience and was complaining that it doesn't work; until I completed mine that is😅
I remember as a little girl how I used to wet hundreds of them( Banyan tree leaves) and make them ready to make personalised greeting cards for Christmas. Thanks to my father who taught me how to do it. This video is really nostalgic!

I remember my Mum telling me of a friend she knew that had a skeleton leaf that had been dipped in gold or gold leaf (I can't remember). I think that would be a really cool project to do with these!
Yes, you can gold leaf the skeleton leaves and then dip them in epoxy resin to create beautiful jewelry pieces or decoration items.
You can also spray paint them in gold. So, there are many options 🙂
