I used a weight 3 yarn. It's turning out smaller than anticipated. I used the right hook and instead of it fitting a 6 to 9 month old baby. It may fit a newborn!

If you crochet loose then a 4.5mm with #3 yarn will work too. If not then I’d use a 4.5mm with #4 yarn. If you use #3 yarn with 5mm the stitch will be a lot loose. If you don’t mind that then yes you can use it. Good luck 👍

It a 5 lb reborn baby doll not got the doll yet so carnt do any measurements
