I should've watched all these yesterday haha I'm not sure why, but the iPads weren't automically showing up yesterday in wirecast. I learned that you have to manually add their IP addresses. Sometimes that works for other shots as well in wirecast and came in handy during livestream; it avoided restarting wirecast.

Hi thanks for sharing, and you mentioned about setting up at basketball court. I was wondering if this wirecast program support 3 ipad at the same time while casting? Understand that 3 Ipads have to download wirecast apps and using the same wifi network. As your sharing, the setup is faster and it just need a person to operate it rather than taping and wires along the floor. Would like to know more, if you have the video or source of how to setup wireless . thanks
If you already have the ipads I would recommend trying it first and see if it works the app is free to download, and if you don't have the software download a trial version--there are lots of variables including your wifi, the computer's specs. Etc. . When using iPads sometimes the signal sticks or freezes. We have gone back to running cables, but instead of taping them down we run them behind bleachers. Unfortunately it takes more time to set up but it works more consistently.

I badly want to use a similar setup for a soapbox derby in my home town. The starting ramp is on top of a hill and outside of the view of the audience. So we want to broadcast what is happening at the starting ramp, to the people who wait at the bottom of the hill. So my question is, what distance can be setup and bridged, using cables instead of a wireless network or the internet? I'd love to connect my Blackmagic Pocket to a Mini Recorder, that is attached to a Macbook, that again is attached to a beamer that screens the picture on a big screen. :-) We could set up the camera in visible range from the starting point, maybe about 40 meters away, and bridge the distance to the Mini Recorder to the Macbook to the Beamer. If all together would be about 100m, that would be perfect! :-D
+Mark Krause I don't do runs that long, our limit is 100 feet. The only way I can think of to get that kind of distance is to convert your HDMI Signal to SDI signal then send it to the mini recorder. This one sometimes the ipad doesn't fit perfectly it sometimes would pop out. so I put a rubber band around it to make sure it stays in. It's been a while since I have used a go pro for streaming, but if I remember right I plugged the go pro in using a micro hdmi cable www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/751122-REG/Pearstone_hdd_110_High_Speed_HDMI_to_Micro.html and the cable into an encoder to connect it to my computer. It isn't wireless but it worked. Good luck finding a wireless solution.

The capture cards are necessary for connecting wired camcorders to the software. If you are using the ipad or iphones then the cards aren't necessary. This video is a couple of years old. I don't think it works this way in more. I haven't tried this in a couple of years I don't know how it works now.

In this video Canon VIXIA HF M50 (I don't think it is made any more). I also use Canon XA10 cameras--they are higher quality cameras. .
