You are too cute 😅
Return of the King won 11 academy awards, tied for the most. This movie is an entire master class on how to make movies.
True, it's tied with Ben-Hur and Titanic for the most Academy Awards. And Bernard Hill is the only actor to feature in 2 of the 3.
The Academy knew the 3 films were all Oscar worthy so made the choice to go light on the first 2, and then heap all the deserving accolades on the last. While I can 'understand' why, it still reminds me they make their own rules and break them as they see fit. In this case they were trying to allow other movies to gain some brownie points so they could use 'Oscar winner' as an enticement to get people to see their films in the theater.
The problem is it isnt as profitable to make 70 movies in those 7 years rather than 3
A pure Masterpiece ✨
Don't say academy awards. That sentence is not effective sentence. You should say like this. That film won 11 Oscar awards. That is more impressive buddy 😊😎👍🔥
Fun fact: the guy standing across from Legolas during the drinking game is the composer for LOTR 👍
Howard Shore. 🖊 🎼
Oh heelll yeah that's so awesome!! 🎼
I love that you touched on the Gandalf/Aragorn relationship.
For Gandalf, a Maiar (essentially angel) who has traveled through death and been around for ages to have the respect and friendship and faith in Aragorn that he does speaks volumes to me.
The word _Maiar_ is plural; Gandalf is a Maia, singular.
I LOVE their relationship and mutual respect so much 🥺
@@MovieJoob same! Even in Fellowship when Gandalf tells Aragorn to "lead them on, the bridge is near!". Such a great relationship
I love LOVE LOVE seeing people fall in love with the brilliance of middle-earth. Peter Jackson did an outstanding job showcasing what J.R.R. Tolkien spent his whole life creating. There is nothing quite like it... everyone else, myself included, is just trying to capture an ounce of the inspiration that went into this masterpiece. I'm so glad I got to grow up watching these movies... I went from "Arwen is the pretty princess and she's my favourite" as a little girl to "Legolas is bae" as a teen and now I'm in my mid 20's aspiring to Be The Sam I Wish To See In The World...
this comment!
May you see enough days to explore your inner Aragorn, and Gandalf. And if you're very lucky, you will manifest Galadriel.
@@kossowankenobi I hope it's this Galadriel, not the ROP Galadriel
“Be the Sam you want to see in the world” I absolutely love that
I'm so glad she pointed out the close-up on Frodo's eyes in the scene when they left Sam. Peter Jackson really deserves credit on how great he directed this trilogy. Another favorite scene of mine is in Fellowship when Saruman betrays Gandalf. I love how that was shot. Another favorite in Fellowship is the "Get Off The Road" scene with the Nazgul leaning on the ledge over the Hobbits' heads.
One major deviation from the novel: Saruman escapes and travels to the Shire with his orcs and conquers it under the pseudonym Sharkey, and when the hobbits return from Mordor after the Ring is destroyed, they set to freeing their people. This event was known as the Burning of the Shire, and in the films it was hinted at as a possible future when Frodo looked into Galadriel's Mirror.
The Palantiri need to be physically aligned with each other to be able to communicate, pointing at each other. Without that all one can do is view the surrounding area. These are all the Lesser stones as well, which have far less power. The Master stone is still in the Undying Lands, on Tol Eressea, where the Teleri Elves live.
Also, Sir Christopher Lee had to correct Peter Jackson on the stabbing scene: Jackson was describing the sound Saruman should make as Wormtongue stabbed him in the back and Lee asked him "Have you ever heard the sound one makes when they're stabbed? Because I have." and explained that one gasps in shock, they don't scream, because he had seen that in his time in WWII.
Sir, this is a movie reaction.
He did not escape with his orcs. Treebeard released him after the war of the ring. He travels with grima wormtongue to the shire. The hobbits and elves meet saruman on their way to rivendale.
On his way through dunland, he hires all the scum of societies bottom and moves into the shire. There he convinced Lotho to take over as mayor the shire. The Tooks and Brandybucks resisted and fought Saruman's ruffians. But most of the shire was under his influence.
Shortly before the Hobbits arrived at the shire, grima is locked away as a punishment, together with Lotho. Grima kills and eats Lotho to survive as he was starving.
Saruman, known as Sharki by hobbits and ruffians, ordered all trees to be cut down, they build houses and manufactures and collectes most of the harvest.
The hobbits than get rallied by Merry, while Pippin rides to his kin and returned for the battle with a hundred tookish archers. Than the battle is fought, 19 Hobbits were killed and 30 wounded. But 70 ruffians were killed, many more wounded and even more captured. The ruffians that escaped run into the old forrest and into latecomers. Nobody escaped the trees and hobbit archers.
1) It's actually called The Scouring Of The Shire.
2) The unit Christopher Lee served in was called The Ministry For Ungentlemanly Warfare. 😳
I can imagine Peter Jackson's expression getting corrected like that. "oh.... uh.... okay then, we will do it your way then."
Every time you brought up Denethor all I have to say is, Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.”
Not to mention that Denethor is depicted here as sliding into dementia. Gandalf and Faramir both know it-hence Gandalf’s statement “your father loves you-he will remember it before the end.”
The film's didn't portray denethor properly, he has one of the lost seeing stones like pippin used and he used it while sauron poisoned his mind until he has zero hope left and that is where the film's pick him up
@@CJR-wv8kc Ya he started out as a good and strong leader but in his arrogance he thought he could go head to head against Sauron and glean information from him but Sauron, like you said, slowly poisoned his mind until he could see no hope.
Beautiful quote! I understand the grief and corruption of Sauron had a huge effect on him but he still lead others to their death and including sentencing Faramir to almost certain death so I'm still mad at what he did
@@MovieJoob I suppose in his mind he was doing Faramir a favor by burning him rather than watching him get torn to pieces by the orcs. That said it doesn’t take away from the wrong Denethor did. You’re pretty sharp when it comes to analyzing the characters.
You went from angry at Faramir for his early interactions with Frodo, to wanting Denethor dead for the way he treated Faramir. Now that's a character arc, lol.😄
The one thing they should've included in the film but didn't was that Denethor had a Palantir (like Saruman did) and had used it often in the defence of Gondor. This undoubtedly contributed to Denethor's state of mind and explains how Denethor knew so much about Sauron's forces. The lost seeing stones are a double-edged sword during the 3rd Age because their use could expose your very mind and soul to the evil will of Sauron as Pippen found out.
There is a great piece of writing, the lore about the stones and explanations in Unfinished Tales:
"... the Stones were far more amenable to legitimate users: ... to true "Heirs of Elendil" (as Aragorn), but also to one with inherited authority (as Denethor), as compared to Saruman, or Sauron. It may noted that the effects were different. Saruman fell under the domination of Sauron and desired his victory, or no longer opposed it. Denethor remained steadfast in his rejection of Sauron, but was made to believe that his victory was inevitable, and so fell into despair. The reasons for this difference were no doubt that in the first place Denethor was a man of great strength of will, and maintained the integrity of his personality until the final blow of the (apparently) mortal wound of his only surviving son. He was proud, but this was by no means merely personal: he loved Gondor and its people, and deemed himself appointed by destiny to lead them in this desperate time. And in the second place the Anor-stone was his by right, and nothing but expediency was against his use of it in his grave anxieties. He must have guessed that the Ithil-stone was in evil hands, and risked contact with it, trusting his strength.2 His trust was not entirely unjustified. Sauron failed to dominate him and could only influence him by deceits."
Unfinished Tales, Part 4, Ch 3, The Palantíri
It's also noted that due to the struggle with the will of Sauron in the contest through palantir, he prematurely aged:
"The use of the palantíri was a mental strain, especially on men of later days not trained to the task, and no doubt in addition to his anxieties this strain contributed to Denethor's "grimness." It was probably felt earlier by his wife than by others and increased her unhappiness, to the hastening of her death. [Author's note.]" Unfinished Tales
...
"'After [Finduilas'] death Denethor became more grim and silent than before, and would sit long alone in his tower deep in thought, foreseeing that the assault of Mordor would come in his time. It was afterwards believed that needing knowledge, but being proud, and trusting in his own strength of will, he dared to look in the palantír of the White Tower. None of the Stewards had dared to do this, nor even the kings Eärnil and Eärnur, after the fall of Minas Ithil when the palantír of Isildur came into the hands of the Enemy; for the Stone of Minas Tirith was the palantír of Anárion, most close in accord with the one that Sauron possessed.
'In this way Denethor gained his great knowledge of things that passed in his realm, and far beyond his borders, at which men marvelled; but he bought the knowledge dearly, being aged before his time by his contest with the will of Sauron. Thus pride increased in Denethor together with despair, until he saw in all the deeds of that time only a single combat between the Lord of the White Tower and the Lord of the Barad-dûr, and mistrusted all others who resisted Sauron, unless they served himself alone."

@@fantasywind3923 Wow. Thank you for your detailed reply, I will be sure to source those references for future reading. What I took from your reply was, we basically agree on my comment and that it should've been included as it was an important detail?
@@steveross2649 yeah the palantir influence on Denethor is important story element, especially in the book, and movie could at least hint at it too.
while Peter Jackson did change a lot of bits and pieces from the books, in order to get the movies to the big screen, he remained true and faithful to the spirit and depth of the books....the LOTR Trilogy is simply magnificent and a masterpiece of film-making.....even if you've never read one word of Tolkien, you cant fail to be moved, impressed and swept up in the wonderful epic world portrayed in these movies!
yeah and in that he managed what the directors of RoP couldn't imho
Faramir's father does love him. he has just been twisted by grief and many years of ceaseless war.
And Sauron's influence on his mind via Gondor's palantir.
Absolutely! But he still pretty much sentenced Faramir and his troops to their almost certain death! 🥺
@@MovieJoob yea, leaders should not make high influence moves while under duress.
It's very clear how much you pay attention to the tiny things here, saying gandalf was your favorite human being then correcting yourself saying he was an angelic figure made me so happy!
I'm glad we told her Gandalf's true nature in the comments of the previous videos, I knew she was sharp enough to remember that detail.
That is very sweet of you to say! I knew he was not human from the very first movie due to Sir Peter Jacksons great directing and filmmaking skills but the comments did indeed confirm what I already knew but thank you Jeremy lol! 😊
@@MovieJoob do you take notes while watching, I know some people do and you definitely give the vibe that you would, but if not that's even more impressive! Haha keep up the great work
I really sorry for Denethor in this trilogy
The Denethor in the book saw Sauron army by palantir and was in despair
But he still prepare for battle, he ask every lord in Gondor to recruit army and defend the town bravely
though in the end he gone insane when he see severely injure Faramir
He despair and lost all hope by Sauron vision in palantir but still put up a fight with pride and bravely
The film do him wrong in this regard
They did him, and Gimli dirty. He is more than comic relief.
@@elizabethanne8729 And of course they did Faramir real dirty, and Aragorn being portrayed as unsecure and moody, and Elrond as being generally snarky, and opposed to Arwens choice to love Aragorn. Elrond himself being a half elven, son of an elf and a human, and the twin brother to Elros who chose to become a human. [SPOLIER PART] They even managed to do the oath breakers dirty, and Gandalf wavering before the witch king? Like a Maiar that in his weaker form could kill a balrog would risk anything before a human evil spirit. I love the films by the way, but they are like the phial where the books are silmarills.
IIRC, there were three beings in Middle Earth that Sauron was worried about possessing the ring: Gandalf, Aragorn, and Denethor.
Aragorn and Denethor were both highly skilled politicians and leaders, who could reunite the free peoples of middle earth, and motivate them to rise up against Sauron.
Denethor, as Steward of Gondor, had held off Mordor's advances for decades and liberated previously-lost lands.
There is an elvish prophecy that fortells of Sauron's destruction by an heir of Isildur. In addition, Aragorn shows himself to Sauron through the Orthanc palantir, and successfully wrestles control of the palantir from Sauron - which proves that he has the wits to both deceive Saruman (which is how he believed Aragorn to possess the palantir) and a will that can match or surpass Sauron's own.
Gandalf was weaker than Sauron, but served the highest ranking Valar, so he had the potential to displace Sauron with the ring of power. his nature would be corrupted by the ring towards the disposition of Sauron, but Sauron himself would be no more.
For those of you reading this: You may wonder why Sauron was not concerned about the other 4 wizards. Well, Saruman was, like Sauron, a Maiar of Aule, but weaker than Sauron, prideful, and easily corruptible. The other 3 wizards were maiar of Orome and Yavanna, who were below Aule in status and Rank among the Valar. Gandalf was a maiar of Manwe, the greatest in authority among the Valar (although not the most powerful Valar in combat).
Edit: Also, like Aragorn, Denethor was, IIRC, able to contend with a direct confrontation with Sauron through the Palantir. Sauron had to poison his mind with visions of events unheard, both true and false, including the losses of his children, to break him.
Wow Jade, you really got murder happy in regards to Denethor.
Don't you remember what Gandalf said about dealing out judgement and death?
Ye but like his mind was gone and he was also murderous and caused harm to others so ya- I stand by what I said heheh
@@MovieJoob If Faramir were the type of person to murder his own father, he would also have been the type of person to be easily taken in by the power of the ring.
Although I love Peter Jackson's adaptation of LOTR, I don't like his version of Denethor, in the movies he hates Faramir for no reason which is far from the truth. In the books, Denethor is not a coward he was a competent leader, he just goes a little psycho after his wife dies after Faramir's birth and he becomes a loner and very cold to everyone except Boromir who was most like him while Faramir used to spend time with Gandalf whenever he visited Gondor. But the dude was a beast, he confronted Sauron for decades in battles of mind and will through the palantiri (magic orb thing) present in Minas Tirith and held his own, until Boromir died and Sauron finally overpowered Denethor and broke his mind and will. This is why he doesn't care about anything during LOTR and makes bad decisions, because he literally can't.
So if you take all the back story away and just show the final result, he doesn't seem like the biggest D-head in world who hates everything, but its far from the truth. I think Denethor has the same backstory in the movies, they just never show it.
I have a tattoo of Gandalf's "All we have to decide..." quote.
Aww that's lovely!!
Some did an observation once that I heard was that Frodo was scared of becoming like Smeagol since he also possessed the ring. He was determined to help Gollum because he was holding out hope that someone who had possessed the ring for a long period of time could eventually recover and become their old self. Basically, he thought, if I can help Smeagol, then there is hope for me once this is all over.
Mind you from what I understand Smeagol was an unpleasant bugger even before he got the ring. But who knows.
It's weird for me to compliment on something technical but, I will now (Before I forget to). I appreciate that the volume levels between your voice and the movie is pretty equal. On many reaction channels (Movies & Music), they are way off, so I must wear headphones to hear either the person reacting or the content. Yours I can listen to through my speakers without having to crank it loud. I know this may be weird, but I thought compliments should also be given when something is being done right on the technical side. Good job!
❤
This is a great thing to compliment a RUclipsr on, and I'm sure Jade appreciates it. It's not weird to say this at all, it's an A+ comment.
That is so kind of you! Thank you so much!! We all at MovieJoob put a lot of work into the production of the videos so we really appreciate that! ❤️
Billy Boyd (Pippen) approached Peter Jackson with the idea to sing a song in the movie and based on a song actually from the books and Peter Jackson agreed without even hearing it. They shot that scene in a single take.
Daang for real? That is magical in it's own right then!
and I have to say I love that song so much
The music is such a star in this movie. Howard Shore, the composer, is my favorite composer of all time. Pippin singing Edge of Night gives me chills everytime.
The "crystal ball" is a palantir, an ancient artifact for remote communication : Long ago, kings had these and used it. Now, all of them are lost but a few : Saruman has one, Denethor has one, Sauron has one.
Saruman used his to try to spy on Sauron and got caught. Then Sauron slowly corrupted his mind, that's how Saruman turned evil.
When Pippin looked into it, He was in direct communication with Sauron who tried tor torture him and get some informations from him about the Ring. But Palantir works both ways so Pippin saw part of Sauron's plan, that's how he saw the white city and the tree.
Denethor was also corrupted by Sauron through the palantir.
And the Master Stone, the most powerful of the palantiri, is still in the Undying Lands with the Teleri Elves.
A wonderful reaction, can't wait for the rest of the movie! It is always such a joy, to see people explore these masterpieces for the first time. Peter Jackson did an outstanding job, bringing the story to life, and the cast, the music, costumes and everything else are simply perfect. I enjoy the whole triologie, but The Return of The King imo stands out, bringing all parts to a perfect ending.
Even great men need to surround themselves with wise counsel. They did a wonderful job showing that.
Aww thank you so much! I utterly am in love with these films and especially this one. Absolute masterpieces!!
part 2 about to be all the emotions. can't wait!
Can't wait for you all to watch along with me!!
Rewatching this reaction because of how great it is. Both this channel and this movie are top tier
For those wonder why Pippin is with Gandalf when he saves Faramir and his men from the Nazgûl, is because originally the invasion of Osgilliath were going happen shortly before they arrived and after Gandalf say "Minas Tirith, the City of Kings." they see Faramir's company fleeing Osgiiath and then Gandalf would help them out. It was put later on in the story so that Gandalf and Pippin would have gone into the city, met with Denethor and lighten the beacons first.
I love the vile smile Smeagol gives his cousin before they start tackling each other over the Ring, it's creepily realistic depiction of when someone violent knows they are about to get an excuse for violence
The Ring had been in the river for 2500 Years....waiting...and waiting.... So, when Deagol and Smeagol found it, the Ring put forth FULL POWER!! The Hobbits had no chance.....It forced the stronger of the 2 to kill the other.
I absolutely LOVE your voice, it's just perfect for say audio books, or voice acting, or narrating.. whatever! It's so captivating..! 🥰
I agree, she has a great voice!
Yes. And her adorable accent doesn't hurt a bit. 😊
That is so lovely of you, thank you so much!! 😊🥺
@@MovieJoob You're very welcome!
I keep coming back to these reactions every few weeks. They’re just so good
There is definitely tension in the interactions between Éowyn and Aragorn, but it's one-sided on her part. Aragorn has loved Arwen for many decades and still dreams of being with her (but refuses for her sake, which is true love), and Arwen is willing to give up her immortality to be with him (also a sign of true love). She is also very mature and worldly in similar ways to Aragorn, so they're a perfect match. Éowyn is very winsome and appealing, but she is young and not nearly as mature. She has so much potential and we just know she is a good person who is destined to be a great one, but at this point she is barely more than a girl with a crush. Aragorn doesn't mean to lead her on, but he is very fond of her (seems like everyone is), enjoys interacting with her, and doesn't want to hurt her feelings. He can tell that she's not happy for various reasons, and he wants her to be happy, so that's what he tries to help her with, but ultimately he is completely devoted to Arwen.
Perhaps Éowyn, like many in the audience, was thinking that since Arwen might leave Middle-earth forever anyway, she and Aragorn could be together in that case, and that's exactly what her Uncle Théoden seemed to think, but even if that were the case, it would have been too soon for Aragorn, and eventually he'd probably want someone older and more mature anyway.
It was fun to see you react on these 3 movies! Lord of the rings is my favorite movies. Beautiful landscape, and the music 😍
Can't wait for part 2
Can't wait for you all to watch along with me!
Loved your Gimli impression!
'Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery'. I adore that man ❤️
6:26 when you refer to Legolas during his drinking game with Gimli, it sounds like you're calling him 'Legless', which is another way of saying extremely drunk lol
Omg it does hahaha! Yes we say legless in Australia too to refer to people who are wobbly drunk!
I can’t wait for part 2! I adore your reactions to these films. Of all the ones I’ve seen yours is one of my favorites. Also, brilliant comparison with the painting of Lucifer. He really did look like that
That is so sweet thank you so much!! Can't wait to watch along part 2 with you all!! And yes! He looked so beautifully broken. 💔
You would make a wonderful daughter in-law for the steward 😆 LOL. Imagine you joining them at the family dinner table .

Woohoo!! Can't wait for part 2!!! 💕💕❤❤💕💕❤❤💕💕❤❤
Yay!! Hope you enjoyed!
when you said that the close up of frodo's eyes looks like the fallen angel painting i gasped i swear because i thought the exact same thing when i watched it
@10:49 omg your accent!!!! Love it 😍😍
I dont usually watch this kind of content but I often watch first playthroughs of my favorite games on twitch. I love LOTR and it brings me a lot of comfort so I figured I'd give this a go.
I have loved every part of this series. watching you feel much of what I felt watching all this for the first time if heartwarming and you do a great job of highlighting the emotional element of it all. I also like that to include a lot of the really weet parts of the movies because that element often gets overlooked and is part of what make Tolkien's work so special. 💜
Awww thank you so much! This comment means so much to me! 😊 I'm so glad you enjoyed!
I love the honest emotion you put into the review of this trilogy of movies...and the investment you have put into the characters. You hit every chord. Gandalf is indeed an "angelic being"...specifically a Maiar (Tolkien in fact calls him as an angel incarnate). And the detail that Peter Jackson put into these movies is no where better seen than in the fact he used practical effects for the orcs, i.e., men (and some women) in latex prosthetics (body suits)...and EVERY one was different. Great Job. Looking forward to the final part or parts.
Aww thank you so much for this lovely comment! When Sir Peter Jackson put his all into this, the least I can do is give my all as well! 🙌
These movies are amazing, save what was done with Denethor.
In the books, Denethor had been contesting directly with the will of Sauron through a Palantir (like what happened with Pippin) for _decades_ and had been _holding his own._ The man was a rock, and formidable in his own right.
Only in the last desperate circumstance, combined with the news of Boromir's death, did the whispers of Sauron take root and the will of Denethor fail; allowing him to fall into despair.
Denethor's depiction in the movie is spot on. Both in the movie and the books we only meet him after Boromir is dead and that broke him. That he was this rock of willpower and leadership before that is irrelevant. Once Gandalf meets him in the books, he is but a shadow of the man he was. He actually quite quickly slips into madness, just as we see in the movie.
21:33 I love the little moment Faramir and Pippin have here
It's so sweet and genuine! 🥺
1:10 whoa you move from one sleeve to short sleeves, split second
18:18 fist bump 🤛
Someone had probably already mentioned this, but it's criminal that the conclusion of Saruman, the VILLIAN OF THE PREVIOUS FILM, is only in the extended cut.
Very enjoyable, can't wait for part two
So glad you enjoyed!!
Loving this reaction and can't wait for the next part!
Thank you! Can't wait for you all to see and watch along with me!
Great reaction MovieJoob :). It's nice to see how much you're loving these movies. They really are 3 of the greatest films ever made. All 3 of them are currently in the IMDB top 15 movies of all time.
Aww so glad you enjoy! I absolutely adore these films! They are my favourite of all time now too!!
Doesn't look like anyone else has said it yet, when Saruman gets stabbed by Wormtoungue, Peter Jackson wanted Christopher Lee to give a yell or a scream, and Lee responded something like "That's not the sound people make when they get stabbed." Jackson didn't ask how he knew that (Lee was an ex-spy for British intelligence.)
this was fun, i love your reactions! cant wait for the last one 🥺
I'm so glad, thank you!!
its awesome watching you connect to the humanity of these characters. such a beautiful movie
Aww thank you! It is such an incredible beautiful movie! Officially one of my all time favourites if not number 1 favourite!
Interesting fact when Saruman got stabbed by Grima the script originally had him screaming in pain, but Christopher Lee was a British Commando in WW2 and stated that people who get stabbed in the back can’t scream so they changed it.
Thank you for very nice reaction. Looking forward to see rest of this masterpiece together with you.
Thank you for watching!! I hope you enjoy the next parts with me! 😊 Absolute masterpiece!!
Gandalf is a Maiar.
“Mithrandir” means “Grey Pilgrim”, and was a term of endearment the elves gave him.
Also, remember: Gandalf sees through deception. If he says Denethor genuinely loves Faramir, then that’s the truth. Book Denethor fell into hopeless despair and was corrupted by it. Film Denethor essentially is sliding into dementia. Either way … he’s not a malicious villain. He’s a tragedy.
Hope you get better soon my favourite RUclipsr get well soon
Aww thank you so much! 😊
a small detail is that eowyn likely had her feet out on purpose, because it was common during the medieval times to have someone keep their feet exposed as they slept so that if their feet got too cold they would wake up and make sure the fire kept going. must not have been a very restful night, but fire was all they had for heat, so it beats freezing in your sleep
i love the movie and your reaction. thank you
Thank you so much Peter Griffin! 🥺
If you liked all the design elements of the film, I highly suggest that you watch the bonus disks in your own time, each film came with 2 extra disks and they cover everything from the actors stand point to the design and making of everything. They are quite long but I found them very interesting.
Thank you for the suggestion! I might look into that off camera some time!
I found it funny when you said you could tell Eomer's actor was American. He's actually from New Zealand, lol. XD
Aww you cut out the lighting of the beacons, understandable since its so long but that is my favorite scene. And with the music 👌 Loved this reaction
In the books it's hinted at the Steward of Gondor had been driven crazy by Sauron to weaken Gondor.
“…Ow…Owie…”
Is just about the greatest summarization of this masterpiece of a finale I think I’ve ever heard. 🙂
HAhahah! It simply makes the heart go owwie 😭
I used to really hate Lord Denethor’s character until I watched a video about the Palantir (the black orb that Pippin stole from Gandalf to look at) from Nerd of the Rings. His video explained what they were and most likely why Denethor is the way he is in the movies. I may not like his character, but I now respect him for what he went through in the defense of Gondor.
Jade got a heart of ice! "Strangle him" she says to faramir to do to denethor. I mean, we've all thought it. But it was funny to hear someone say it out loud.
Hahahah! I can be cold when it comes to nasty people like Denethor1
I'm glad your enjoying this movies they are really good x
I absolutely adore these movies! Masterpieces! 🙌
"you're a better man than I"
Laughs in Eowyn...
When Faramir and his men ride their horses to death, when orces arrrows shout them, Denethor bite tomato and red liquid pour from his mouth to his chin.. That is so symbolic moment. That mean he tasted his own son's blood or he realize that his son is dead..that was one of a touching moment.
Watching you love Sam really makes me think you’d love Sean Astin in stranger things. Sean’s roles have brought me so much joy and comfort. Just such a genuine sweet man.
the stewart is going mad. he has a lost seeing stone down inside his keep, and has been using it too. something that the movie doesn't talk about!
A beautiful reaction.
Thank you so much!! 😊
lets gooooooooooo!
Lets goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Aside from all the obvious brilliance of this film, can we just talk about all the effort that went into designing and creating the various stages of Smeagol's transformation into Gollum.... all for like 10 seconds of screen time.
The incredible acting of Denethor is underrated.. that character actually had stronger power of will than almost any character and is rumored that he may resist the ring if he had seized. (In the books)
"Denethor was described as appearing noble and powerful, even to rival the lordliness of Gandalf.
The palantír showed him much of what he wanted to see, and his knowledge grew exceedingly, so that he was wondered at by the people. But eventually Sauron, looking into the captured Ithil-stone, discovered that Denethor was using the palantír. Sauron attempted to wrench the Anor stone to his will, but failed due to Denethor's strength of will, his integrity, and his right to the use of the stone.
Denethor, meanwhile, looked not only at Mordor, but also probably to Saruman, and extracted information from the wizard to his benefit, which Sauron was helpless to prevent. He also sought to surpass Thorongil and Gandalf in wisdom, and to keep an eye on them.
I'm gonna mention my one Behind the Scenes trivia fact: Sir Christopher Lee had an extensive career before coming an actor that involved Nazi Hunting. As such he was acutely aware of how a person getting stabbed in the back actually works and when Peter Jackson directed the scene where Saruman dies Lee had notes to improve the scene for authenticity. Don't know if that's so much of a fun fact, but it still think its pretty neat trivia!
Also I just love Merry being a good bud-buddy, "I know you've run out, so take some weed for the road."
Also also, you've probably finished by now and even if not a not insignificant number of people read, especially in these films, a great deal of romantic writing. The perspective that the fellowship just has beautiful intimate male friendship is also a wonderful and beautiful interpretation, but it's also really enjoyable to see a gay subtext and I don't think I need to say who the ships are.
Woot! Finally.
Hope you enjoyed!!
@@MovieJoob Sure did. Jade is just the best. Can't wait to watch the final LOTR reaction.
Elves are said to be immune to alcohol.
20:18 "Kill him. Kill your father!" Losing my mind here. Great stuff, Jade!
Hahaha! I just speak my truth 😂
You could say that Legolas left Gimli legless.
LLLOOOOOLL this comment wins.
Théoden was being silly about Gondor not helping Rohan. He never called for help from them, and Gondor could have used some help themselves in holding off the forces of neighboring Mordor.
1st!!!!!!!!!!! Luv u and ur vids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No one gives a shit if you comment first. Grow up and get a life
Nice one!! And thank you so much 😊😊
Pippin is mischievous. And that's exactly why I love him! 😄 One of my five favorite characters.
He is naughty and heartfelt and brilliantly written!! I love him too!
Shoot I legit I was watching part one. I just. Yeah, it's good to see an honest reaction. One that makes me feel like I'm watching for the first time.
It's funny how Treebeard calls Gandalf young, because Gandalf is actually older than the world and therefore older than Treebeard. He had been in Middle-earth (a continent of the world) for only about 2000 years, though, and maybe Treebeard didn't know who he really is, which is the Maia (lesser angel) Olórin. That's probably why Treebeard thought Gandalf was younger than he, but no, Gandalf is definitely older.
Hi Jade ❤ your reactions
Thank you so much!! 😊
Fun trivia fact: the actor at 11:50 is Brett from Flight of the Conchords!
When you say Gandalf deserves the world you are so close to naming his actual function in the world.
I love how Saruman is impaled in homage to Christopher Lee’s numerous times playing Dracula.
Actually, Mithrandir is just the name that Elves gave him, while Men (including Hobbits) called him Gandalf. These days, those who are familiar with him call him Gandalf, while others may use other names (he has names besides these two), depending on the region. What he is is a Maia (in the physical form of an old Man), which indeed is sort of an angel, and his real, original name is Olórin. He was sent to Middle-earth from the Undying Lands in the west to seek out and help the free people defeat Sauron, who is also a Maia, by the archangels, who are sort of like mythological gods and are known as the Valar. You might have heard this word a time or two in these movies, in lines such as "May the grace of the Valar...." The Balrog that Gandalf fought was also a Maia, but a demon instead of an angel, and I guess Sauron is like a fallen angel (e.g. Lucifer) or demon himself.
Together, the Valar (singular: Vala) and Maiar (plural for Maia) are known as the Ainur (singular: Ainu), or Holy Ones, who were all created before the world by the One God known as Eru Ilúvatar, who exists outside of the world, as well as outside of space and time. The latter implies that Gandalf, according to what he told Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli, was actually taken to "Heaven" (not a named thing in this story) by Eru himself, and sent back stronger than before. This is highly unusual, and it means that Gandalf has seen Heaven, which I believe he describes to Pippen later. All of the living inhabitants of the world, including the Ainur, are permanently bound to it, body and soul, except for the souls of Men and Hobbits when they die. After stopping briefly where every soul normally goes, namely the Halls of Mandos (a Valar who takes care of this stuff), the souls of Men depart the world entirely. Only Mandos and Manwë, the leader of the Valar, know where they go, and now Gandalf knows firsthand because he has been there. It is believed that there is a Heaven where the souls of Men live an eternal afterlife with each other and the Creator, Eru Ilúvatar. Elves are "immortal" and will live for as long as the world does, but the world will eventually end, while the souls of Men, once they depart the world, exist outside of space and time, and are truly immortal.
I think that Gandalf was taken to Heaven temporarily not only to restore him, but so that he could convey to Men what the afterlife is like, in order to help restore their faith in their Creator and stop them from being jealous of immortal beings like Elves and Ainur because of their "immortality". After all, they are all bound to the world and its ultimate fate, while the souls of Men are eternal and free of the limits of the world.
LOTR yeah!
LOTR baayyybeeeee
Part two gogo i can't watch until then xD
Simply the best reactions to these movies I've seen. Keep up the great work!
Aww that is so lovely of you thank you so much!! 😊🙌
cant believe that there are still people who didnt see or dont like the lotr movies. they are so incredible deep and awesome
Time for some tissues 🥲🧡. This movie is always so emotional to watch.
The tissues will be at the ready!!
At 17:40 the fellow handing out spears is Royd Tolkien,
JRR Tolkien's great grandson!
Oh woaah! That is so awesome!!
Jade, you should see the WETA people's making of the armor and such. You've noticed so much detail in the differences of the warriors, you'd love it.
Ooh great suggestion thank you so much! 😊
I wish I could erase my mind so that I could see this trilogy for the first time again.
Awww hahaha!
I think the Palantír (crystal ball) only has that kind of a draw on someone as fatally curious as Pippen. 😄 Lots of things do. That's how he is, that "fool of a Took", as Gandalf called him.
The Elf that speaks to Arwen at 11:50 isn't identified in the script, but he's widely known in the LOTR fan community as Figwit, for "Frodo Is Great--Who Is This?"
lol. I've never heard that one before. I'm not sure why he should have been saddled with that name, out of all of the nameless characters in these movies, but it gave me a laugh.
First of all, it's Bret McKenzie from Flight of the Conchords, the most popular New Zealand band in the world! 😉

Maybe I’m nuts, but I could swear he appears in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, interacting with the dwarves (I won’t say more, in case our reactor is going to watch that trilogy).
@Barbara Pohl I think there he was credited as Linhir. I'm not 100% it's the same actor or character, but wouldn't be surprised either way.
@@hkpew If memory serves, it originated in the Council of Elrond, where he was simply present as a nameless extra and all the fangirls went crazy over this pretty elf boy - hence "Frodo Is Grea- WHO IS THAT?" He got a speaking role in RotK because of his online popularity.
These movies are fantastic
Absolute masterpieces!! ❤️
Jackson wanted Christopher Lee to scream out when Saruman was being stabbed. Lee, who had worked with British commandoes, and spies during WW2, and whose own exploits are shrouded in mystery, said that men don't do that as they are shived in the back. Jackson was a bit intimidated as he remembered whom he was talking to and deferred to Lee's expertise.
