Said it last time between the 14PM and S23U, but again, I'm seriously impressed that Samsung has gotten their Ultra this close in battery ccomparisons against the Pro Max. It's a huge upgrade and I hope Samsung continues with it.
@@Yayane_ But also because Samsung only used snapdragon, so they could optimize more for that single chipset.
The iPhone used to be the underdog in this realm. If anything, we should be impressed with how far iPhone batteries have come. But calling s23 ultra a “huge upgrade” over s22 ultra is where I call bullshit
The iPhone 15 pro battery life is actually far better than the pro max as well

Always love to see a head to head comparison done right.
iPhone won despite being on a bad iOS version. The iOS17.0.3 has substantially increased the battery life. Some users are claiming about 15% to 20% improvements without decreasing any performance at all. Looks like Apple has finally optimized the iOS to make the most out of the 3 nm chip

One UI 6 beta has improved battery life from my experience just using the phone. iOS 17.0.3 improved battery life (without affecting performance) by fixing a software issue that caused iPhones to run warmer than expected, so I'd be curious to know whether this test was done on 17.0.3 or 17.0.2. Excellent video though--I really appreciate the precision with which these tests are done. Calibrating the screen and speakers to match in terms of nits and decibels is fantastic attention to detail!

@@MrCooper83both are impressive. But your point being. Apple has their own ecosystem. They make everything themselves. So it's definitely gonna be better optimized. Why for this test do they put the Galaxy's default navigation bar but for the speed test they change to the swipe one?
***Personally***, I think the biggest flaw to this test is Snapchat. Snapchat has ALWAYS favored iOS. Quality is always degraded on the Android version and never fully optimized, so battery drain is way more taxing for Android operated devices.
Great work as usual, though, with your tests. I don't think anyone comes as close to you in getting the most accurate results as possible.

Most likely the speaker battery drain test affected by dac for that built in speakers. Same decibel, different amp.
Updating to ios 17.0.3 on the 14pm really improved the smoothness and battery life.
Not surprised, I have both, iPhone seems to hold up better later in the day. One thing I notice is the famous (or infamous) drop of 100 to 99% is a lot shorter now. It takes a little less than an hour for it drop to to 99% so maybe Apple made it a little more accurate? Either way, curious to see what the SD 8 Gen 3 brings to the table. I feel like Apple went more for performance rather than battery efficiency on this chip.
I don’t know man, performance on this chip isn’t as large a lead compared to how each previous gen chip’s leads on each other. You can only get so much from a 1nm node reduction. I’m curious to see how they’re gonna deal with the physical limitations of silicon for the chips.

Small enough for my hands so i can handle it single handedly comfortably, iam charging it every 2 days having an avg 6 hours screen on time(2 days together) and 20-25% left on the battery(after 2 days). Most of them are medium workloads. Watching netflix/youtube, browsing the net, messenger calling/phone calling. No games. Iam not playing games on my phone. For games i have my PC. :D
It’s honestly a better looking phone than the ultra
It is hard to not love that S23 if you ever use it. Great phone!
For moderate use, it's easily a 2 day phone. The other day I took it off charge at 7 am, used it for an hour (on RUclips) until leaving for work, had to keep it in a locker all day (but used it briefly 4-5 time during that time) then listening to music the whole journey home, & when i'm home around 9 pm looked at the battery %age & it was at 82% still. Although I know that day was pretty light use, but it was still impressive how little power it had used.

crazy how close they have come in all of the tests here so far
Really not much of a technical difference these days, so much preference involved though
There is clearly a technical difference because one phone is using a bigger battery and still coming behind. They would be technically equivalent if the battery capacity was the same.
iPhone lasted nearly 40 minute longer, what is your definition of a "technical difference"? I'm extremely curious about that.
@@tapashmajumder2377 Keep in mind that the iphone 15 PM has a lower resolution compared to the S23U and is also running on newer components. Sure you could say that the S23U had software updates to improve its battery but that doesnt remove the fact that its battery still degraded even without being used.
I think you meant to say practical difference instead of technical difference (since a 40 min difference in relation to 27 hours is practically nothing and within a marginal of error of "give and take"),. However, there are definitely technical differences in the phones such as the chip, battery size, screen resolution, extra features the phones might offer (e.g. the S-Pen sipping a little bit of battery when it's charging on the Galaxy, or the IR sensor activating for Face ID on the iPhone, etc.)

I wish some RUclipsrs would test the battery life of S23 ultra with 1080p+ resolution and I wanna see the difference between these two phones, I think it would have been some impact. After all these years, Samsung, indeed, has the bigger batteries than iPhones but their screen resolution and bigger display sizes always had been ignored by reviewers.
It doesn’t matter because the screen size is only like .01 inches bigger than the iPhones. Yes it has a little higher resolution but not by much and it has almost a 14 percent bigger battery than the iPhone. Honestly Samsung should be lasting longer with battery life with the way bigger battery but with iPhones super optimized software, 3nm processor (allows more power efficiency) and even having a smaller battery, iPhone is very impressive. If Apple put the same size battery as the Samsung has, it would destroy it even more in test. Samsung is getting there but I feel Apple will always be one step ahead in power efficiency
How did you make the standby button on the iphone?
Is the Samsung new or has it been used before? , because its battery may be worn out

@@Moonscentedhunter and the iPhone is still winning even though the Samsung battery is still much larger. It’s just a fact that Samsung doesn’t know how to manage its power consumption on its devices. Think about the battery runtime you’d get on an iPhone with a 5000 mah battery lol
Does this have the iOS 17.03 update?
I love watching videos about phones I could never dream to afford
I'm an S23 Ultra user, but I gotta give props to Apple for being able wo keep up with a much smaller battery!
Come to the happy side bro, buy an iPhone
@@davidskyler1000 cry somewhere else.
No I would expect better from 3nm process. 15 lasts barely any longer than 14.
@@DragonOfTheMortalKombat because IOS 17.0.3 fixed 15 pro max from overheating, before that battery was getting drained. In short 15 would have demolished s23 if it was updated to the latest iOS version.
@@davidskyler1000No, it's not a problem. You are a topical iphone fan and you don't like Samsung. If the iPhone explodes or catches fire anything you continue to use an iPhone And justifying it. And always you find something wrong about samsung. that's it i don't mean iPhone is bad but thats is truth
Fair win to the iPhone, but it’s crazy how good Samsung has gotten over the years. GG
Photocopying takes some time to perfect.
@@tapashmajumder2377Agree. Just like when Apple copied the Always on Display feature which caused battery drain issues on the 14 series.
@@Gurenn83yh, and they fixed it over time, it's good that everyone is improving all round
@@Gurenn83 and 14 pro max still win over the s23 ultra
Has gotten? Samsung had better batterys than iphones 5 years ago, and have lost ever since.
I need that gold iPhone wallpaper mod you have!!
Is this done with iOS 17.0.3?
Having a last years phone being BETTER wiht battery as well AS ALL THE OTHER THINGS that it IS better , and having inlt a 5-6 % difference IMAGINE the S24 Ultra in January how much BETTER it ll be 😂😉
