    The Minister is doing a great job. The public needs to know who benefited. Why are we always kept in the dark. Expose all of them Ministering Mckenzie. As South Afric, ns we are tired of wasteful expenditure. Look at our schools. The schools in black and coloured areas have no sports foelds. Children run in thorns. Our kids have no spirts equipment. We have many talented young children. Their dreams are crushed because of a lack of resources. Sports keep our children off the streets. It's about time more money is invested in school sports, especially in disadvantage areas.

    My son fished for South Africa...he is a Protea angler, fished at World's in the Czech Republic (twice)and came home with the trophy as South Africa's no 1 Protea Angler. The Government did not even supply his green South African blazer and Team South Africa badge! I had to buy it all...and not one cent from the department of sports towards training, equipment or the trip!
    Today my son is a proud South African sportsman and makes his living at the age of 23...in the Seychelles, earning U.S dollars...and it has all paid off for him. It almost bankrupted us financially to get him there, but I am so so proud of my son and I know he will go on to do great things within his fraternity

All his saying that his Department will be focussing on spending the money on other endeavors that needs immediate attention. We respect mamma Joy, etc, but right now, it's not a priority. There are too many pressing issues and other areas that need funding. She can remain a super fan. No problem with that. The problem with this, the public never knew that it took so much money to send them to these ganes. There was never transparency ,especially when she was funded with hard earned taxpayers' money. People are now shocked to hear the expenditure ,while the parents must raise their own funds to send their sporting children abroad. Give more people opportunities, not just 2 or 3.

    The state, that uses taxpayers money, should not be used to gratify peoples needs for relaxation. I dont think that even business needs to get involved. What the state needs to do with taxpayers money, is to improve the lives of people concerning arts and culture. If they want to involve people in sport, it should go toward an upcoming athlete where they can go and improve in their skills and learn something that will benefit them in their career. However if the state want to use taxpayers money for fans, they should keep ot local and then involve a up and coming soccer or netball club and sponsor them to our local games so that the kids can get the exposure. But this thing about sending a person abroad just for fun, lets forget about that waste of money. It teaches people nothing that can benefit them in the future.

      I think the sad part is that there is more of this money that is getting spent by departments just for the sake of justifying their budgets. Spending just so that they retain the budget and get it again.
      I am not even sure if Gayton will be able to act against that because he too will have a situation where the budget is in excess of justifiable spending - and will then propose a flag for R20m or pray that some sports team wins so they can justify the payment of bonuses. I will definitely trust and believe in him more if he can return the excess funds and motivate for the lowering of his portfolio’s budget - that would be a first.
      And even if he does do that, some other department will be given that money for them to loot anyways.

    I think a big issue that you touched on that needs further highlighting is artist ownership of their works(copyright). I briefly worked in this space and once you understand how copyright works it helps one understand how some artists release chart topping music but don’t benefit financially from it and the record labels(publishers) accrue most of the benefits.
    Another issue the minister should consider is the paltry payments to artists from streaming platforms and the unresolved mess of residual payments for artists work that favours studios and not creatives. Unfortunately, the issues are global in nature and the minister probably won’t make any progress there.
    There are low cost measures like providing free business education in all official languages. Classes can be online, in person etc. Maybe the ministry can provide free legal services to rebalance the power dynamics when artists engage contractually so that they understand what their obligations and rights are.

Those that benefited should just be happy because we the taxpayers did not receive a cent to support us during Covid 19.

    So ANCYL feels Makhadzi is not worth R230k for her services cause she does represent a rare and skilled art that other performers get more than she does and I feel that is nothing cause Makhadzi brings a team of talented performers to perform with her and none of them are complaining that Makhadzi is short paying them. Big Up to Makhadzi she deserves More than 230k

    I think the Department of arts, culture and sports must stick to developing and building facilities in schools and communities. This sponsoring of individuals lifestyles in the name of creatives is wasteful and attract parasites. Our schools and communities arts and sport sciences facilities had collapse and none existing while we pimp self centered musicians. Our children we to grow up within a resourceful environment which is diverse of opportunities. School development is our future not amapiano and so on.

    She is actually not flipping the script, and the perception that you hold makes her point. The publicized amount of 220k, which she also acknowledged, was payments of a service and not a grant. The narrative the department is pushing is misleading......that's the point.

    Well done, we r so tired of working hard and pay heavy tax and be cheated on our taxes, why pay artists who are earning enough? Most contribute very little to taxes, Allyou see see about them is designer clothes instead of saving, they can wear whatever they want but please respect our taxes.

    I believe superfans shine a spotlight on South Africa with their unique outfits and their availability to travel extensively. This level of visibility likely surpasses that of other fans who might not have the time or resources to travel as frequently. The idea of offering freebies to dedicated fans in these locations is also commendable.
    In my opinion, superfans play a crucial role in attracting tourists to South Africa. By attending events in their distinctive attire, participating in interviews, and promoting the country, they cast a positive light on South Africa. Although I don't know who these superfans are personally and I'm not South African, I've seen how people I know have been inspired to visit South Africa because of superfans vibrant presence.
    Ultimately, I trust that the Minister is making informed decisions based on a comprehensive understanding of the impact superfans can have.

    More and more are being made public because of this new "party" running SA. And yet, I don't think anything will happen to those guilty. In a way, I hope the EFF, MK, ANC, ACT all start to spill the beans and make sure new prisons are built and over populated by each of them.

    I'm sorry. I do not buy Ms Makhadzi's crocodile tears. Yes, she was paid over R230 000 for services rendered.
    Then why is she crying poverty? R230 000 many might argue that that sum of money is an overbloated
    amount of money for payment for her performances. Seriously, that really needs to be reviewed as that is public money.
    Moreover, artists, when employed by the government should be paid but, honestly, that sum of money, imo, is ridiculous
    when there are so many artistic projects and artists that really need serious attention and support,
    financially and otherwise.

    I don't understand what people are saying, people make a lot of money for professional services but still need extra money to thank them. The professional services paid has profit on top.These people live lavished life styles and spend exuberantly on that then come and tell us they are broke😢😢😢😢.If so we should also pay those who excel in academic areas. These work hard to make money. We should know who is chewing government money. So we could see who continually gets the support at the expense of others. We sweat blood working for our families, overtaxed and indebted and never complain. Elet is all work people. These people are already too rich. They own a lot of houses and other assets. Who pays for our spending. It's our tax people 😠😠😠😠😠😠

    This topic is interesting. My question is, is support supposed to be provided to artists only or every department within the government should provide support to whoever is trying to do something? Casing point, if I sell spirits should I be supported to attend international awards?

    • @UhuruUhuru
      @UhuruUhuru  22 дня назад

      I think if you are a startup in that business you should receive support. Obviously if you are as big as distell making billions you can handle that.
      Why because if your business takes off from new international orders then that will lead to more tax revenue, more employment and more brand awareness.

    • @dakalo83
      @dakalo83 21 день назад

      @@UhuruUhuru That makes sense so there has to be clear policy on who gets supported and how. Established artists like established businesses must sustain themselves as they are businesses as well.
      Our artists just need financial literacy and to stay away from trying to live flashy lives they cant afford simply because they are "Super stars".

    This was an awesome video, you just got a new follower and supporter...on the issues you mentioned, 1. As a dancer that has lost his dance studio in a very rural area during Covid and didn't get any assistants from DSAC. this has been happening way before Minister Gayton. 2. The super fan idea is good but it should benefit more people and young players from rural areas. Lastly I'm 100% for transparence in the GNU that's why 60% of SA lost hope in the ANC.

    Transparency will turn the tide on corruption! Maybe the minister and his team could have done a thorough audit of the names. If Makhadzi's name should not be on that list, it will be great to see the minister owning up and apologizing to her. After all, being a minister does not mean you are no longer human.

  • @archerzar5411
    @archerzar5411 20 дней назад
