I’ve actually been rereading the early Sonic Idw issues and dude it’s just awesome remembering why I fell in love with both the characterization of both the game characters and original characters in IDW
After Surge and Kit REALLY mess things up and almost endanger the world: *gets beaten and kidnapped by Shadow* “I could, and WOULD end you now. But, I see myself in you two. So, you have two options. You follow me, and do everything I say. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll become something more. A person, maybe a hero, you yourself can be proud of. Or, you give me a reason. And I’ll put you in the ground. So, option A? Or option B”?
Feels a bit much for Shadow (particularly the “I’ll put you in the ground” bit), but I love the idea of Surge and Kit being the villains of the next Shadow game (if we do get another one).
@@Justin-qj7fknah out of all characters shadow would absolutely kill. That's what makes him and Sonic different, Shadow will do whatever is necessary to keep the peace, even kill.
The thing Surge doesn’t get, is that Sonic doesn’t let Eggman live to receive praise. It’s because he believes the doctor’s capable of change. While Eggman won’t end Sonic, because it’s a game to him. A game he will win, by beating Sonic, and making sure the world knows it as a fact! Both hero and villian has admitted they could end each other easily. But they don’t, because of their ideals and values. Surge just sees it as a pointless cycle that’s become her limbo. That she’s stuck in. How’s she going to end it to get closure and move on? Murdering Sonic and Eggman. But, the problem with that, is that she thinks that’s her choice. She may be doing it for different reasons. But she’s still carrying out the outline of Starline’s plan: upend the status quo, by taking Eggman and Sonic out of the picture. She isn’t living for herself. She’s still living for others. For the wrong reasons. But, if Eggman or Sonic got serious, they could easily end the duo. Half the cast could. She just doesn’t realize that Sonic, Eggman, Shadow, Knuckles and the others *allow* her to live. And Shadow could be the only one to wake her up and help her find her path. She just doesn’t realize she has her own agency. That she has a choice.
Sonics logic doesn’t work since this eggman has crossed the line even if he did turned a new leaf he would still be thrown in prison by humanity and the sonics species and we know sega won’t let that happen which is why while I find these characters and stories interesting the sonic franchise is a floating timeline
@@giovonniiclayton You do have a good point. This Eggman started a zombie apocalypse, had no contingency plan for himself getting infected or the virus mutating beyond his control. And, he almost killed everyone. If Silver’s future is as metallic and lifeless as he said, it could be that every Zombot suffered the same fate all zombies do: decomposing to nothing. Except, maybe just turning into metallic goo. Either way, yeah, you do get the impression GUN, if there were any remnants left would execute Ivo. Just as they did to his grandfather. Unless Whisper did it herself. Still, even if Surge and Kit killed off Eggman and Sonic, there’d be other threats, worse ones, that could take his place. Yeah, Sonic’s friends could handle things, but if the Deadly Six, Dark Gaia, or some other threat came along that only Sonic could stop, there’s only two people everyone would blame and throw to the slaughter: Surge and Kit. Would this be enough for someone like Shadow or Whisper to kill the duo for endangering the world? Maybe. In almost every scenario, Surge and Kit are screwed if they continue down this path. But, I feel the only one that could save this from themselves, would be Shadow. After all, Sage would also pull a Skynet/SHODAN, of Surge murdered her dad. Revenge begets revenge, they’re only on a path of self destruction. And maybe Sonic’s logic is flawed. But they’ll be praying for mercy just like Eggman if Sonic throw away his principles.

I love IDW Sonic. It made me appreciate the Sonic Cast and while there there can be flaws I enjoyed how they interact with others. And how it made me enjoy exisiting characters such as Silver and Amy. Surge and Kit have became my favorites for their tragic stories and their struggle to be themselves. They are tragic figures who didn't deserve the manipulation from Starline. Even if he is gone the effects of brainwashing are still presemt and they're unsure who to trust anymore and only each other which is saddening but beautiful. Especially Lanolin too. Even if she's controversial I enjoyed how different she is as she gives a realistic sense to Sonic. We have a character that is FINALLY not just a Sonic fan or biggest enemy but a pragmatic leader. Actually killing people makes it hard for characters to be redeemed in my eyes, so I hope they don't let it get that far for Surge and Kit. And she could take the secret to the grave, she’d probably end Eggman, Surge, Kit, and Mimic. Maybe. It’s just so painful to see how she was so different back then, and how she was so affected, so unable to trust or show mercy after that. She could purge all the villians in the world, and deny she’d be worse than them. Just whisper: “It had to be done for peace. That silence in graveyards. That, is peace. You say slaughter Sonic, I say liberation”. In another timeline, she’d become a worse killer than Mimic.
Honestly, with a bunch of people needlessly hating on the IDW comics, it's refreshing to see someone to see someone wholeheartedly embracing them, and highlighting the treasures in them. Also, as a Christian, I appreciate the Scripture verses at the end! You've just earned yourself a new subscriber!
Sorry I don't want to be the Nick picky guy but the trolley is actually a cable car. just want to put that out there. still I do agree of everything you've said.
I like all three stories are linked together through a common theme: validation; All three characters majorly grasp with being validated by the world in some way: - Surge wants to be validated by society to justify her needless brainwashing, trauma, and creation and believes that doing so requires her to be a hero and help out wherever she can. Surge tries to achieve this through creative problem solving but hurts others in the process because she can't find the solution that would lead to the least harm being done. - Knuckles wants to be validated by the world to justify his status as the last Echidna destined to guard the Master Emerald even if this duty requires self-isolation on a giant island. The Master Emerald helps console Knuckles through the fact that without his friends he wouldn't have lasted this long as the guardian of it, and Sonic, Tails, and Amy visiting only reassures Knuckles of this fact. - Mimic seeks to be validated by society at first through his acting career then by his friends when he recruits himself to the Diamond Cutters. He then confronts his major flaw of insecurity as he distrusts his friendships and alliances as he believes that people only care about him because of his mimicry, and this leads him to betray the Diamond Cutters and Eggman trying to hunt him down.

Serge is such a interesting character and very tragic in my opinion
Sorry I don't want to be the Nick picky guy but the trolley is actually a cable car. just want to put that out there. still I do agree of everything you've said.
I like all three stories are linked together through a common theme: validation; All three characters majorly grasp with being validated by the world in some way:
- Surge wants to be validated by society to justify her needless brainwashing, trauma, and creation and believes that doing so requires her to be a hero and help out wherever she can.
He then confronts his major flaw of insecurity as he distrusts his friendships and alliances as he believes that people only care about him because of his mimicry, and this leads him to betray the Diamond Cutters and Eggman trying to hunt him down.
the only good character new is surge

@@SonicTheory96 Nothing Halo related can escape me.
