As much as I want, and would like Dean Smith to stay whether we’re relegated or not, I do think if we lose to Brighton he’s in big trouble. Let’s get 2 or 3 strikes in, hopefully one of them is Benteke and let’s avoid relegation. In Dean We Trust UTV 🍀🍀🍀🇮🇪
Benteke would be great UTV 💪☘️
He was just about to fire, he was just about to come - Bardell 2020
If we go down we lose Grealish 100% and to lose Grealish because of poor recruitment is criminal and whoever is responsible for those signings needs to go. The January window will maybe save them but it’s not looking good currently
To loose to a better team is not a disgrace and Man City were at their best, however we capitulated and that is a disgrace and needs addressing asap UTV
One last thing I’ve got to say is that I think Pepe Reina is a great loan signing. He’s still got 2 or 3 years left in him, and he is a big name and I think he will spread confidence in the team with is ability, with his name, and plenty of Premier League experience. UTV 🍀🇮🇪
Once again the manager and players have let us down. It’s really disappointing to see our club in this situation but I’m still got some confidence that we’ll stay up. If we go down this time we will do a Sunderland and do a double relegation unfortunately. Every time I think about Villa a strong feeling of sorrow is on me. Hopefully that will change with results but it won’t be easy. ☘️🍀☘️🇮🇪
Patrick Doherty people said that when we went down the first time. We were in a terrible situation this time last year and we completely turned things around
I really missed the post-match fans reaction video, because they are usually so sensible compared with the Internet forums.
And to think 'Prepared' was on the logo - oh the irony!!
ill-prepared perhaps ?
Un- prepared ?
Very high with the scores lads!!!
I'm hearing alot of 7's. We are third from bottom.
He should have started each player at 5 and added or subtracted from there. I'd have to say alot are on 3 or 4 out of 10. Heaton, McGinn, Grealish and Hourihane on 7 plus. Mings a 6, he seems nonplussed since the England call up 🤷♂️
Thing about Wesley Dan is I don't think he was about to start firing. It was more of a goalkeeping error he scored rather than a good strike against Burnley. He never got going after scoring a brace against Norwich or a goal in the cup , I don't think he would of got going after the goal against Burnley.
P.S what you think of samatta who's been linked ? Whether he hits the ground running or not will determine whether we stay up imo.
Really? Funny how he looked better when he had somebody close to him. Grealish actually said himself that he was playing as a striker. Also funny how Wesley was brutally and deliberately fouled by an illegal double footed tackle and nobody says a thing.
the result did not bother me it was the way we lost no work rate at all sheff utd have average players but the work rate is impeccable why are we not working as hard as them that's all we ask as fans.
I'm beginning to think that a big issue is that there's too big a squad rotation. Smith doesn't seem to trust or know his best right back (or wing back), wingers, or central midfielders. Just get the same team playing together for a handful of games.
Why players like Guilbert and Trezeguet aren't starting is beyond me.
Dean smith to blame, absolutely no tactics, just stood there watching and dropping players that have done well is ludicrous. No fight or passion at all!! Shambles
El gahzis missed more chances than Wesley this season and he gets a 7 🤔
Wesley's score from Tom was so harsh. 22m for a striker isn't a lot in today's market. He hasn't had the service. He could have done more at times.
Wesley will come back worse imo and be moved on. Players after ACL's rarely are as good as before.
Similar to el ghazi then
I think in general they were too kind, a lot of high or average scores for a team in freefall.
Great podcast again lad's I totally agree it's imperative we get two striker's in if we don't we are in big trouble.
I think we’re to nice, apart from Mings we haven’t got that “nasty” player. Need a nasty b****rd in the middle of the park and clearly two strikers, at least one by Friday afternoon.
agree
I agree about benteke, I want him back, he’s loved by the fans, he always linked up with Jack well. We’d play to his strengths by getting balls in the box, unfortunately I can’t see palace loaning him out to us as they could be down in that relation area with us UTV.
Dan's face when tom says im inverted commas lol
You didn't do a Dean , John , Richard rating ;)
Top podcast as usual. I think Benteke actually leads the way for Premier League Villa hat-tricks. One Vs Sunderland, one Vs QPR. Yorke only ever scored two hat tricks for us and one in the FA Cup, his only PL hat trick was in a 4-3 at Newcastle. I think his stats you read out probably included his tally for Man United. Pretty sure most of our top strikers only ever managed just the one hat trick - Deano Vs Swindon, Dublin Vs Southampton, Milosevic Vs Coventry, Gabby Vs City and Carew Vs Newcastle. I'm scratching my head to think if Angel ever got one, can't remember of top of my head. As for current times I think it's going to be tough to survive now. New striker is imperative and just a general change in work rate too. I enjoyed the Championship but that doesn't mean I want to stay there! I have never wanted a Villa manager to succeed as much as Dean Smith but can't escape criticism on the basis of a lot of our selections and performances. He's definitely the man to get us promoted should we drop, I just don't think he's the man to get us going in this league. I do agree though I don't think the money is there like most people seem to think. UTV
Bring back Callum Ohare
This camera angle is much better.
What's obvious but still annoying is our - 15 goal difference compared to - 1 in early December.
I'm enjoying the ride for this season - feels like we're in the shit though.
Injuries and poor current form not looking great for Prem Survival.
Halfway through Jan and struggling to get a striler or two.
Can't help feeling our do or Die is now.
UTV
Dan, you always make sense mate and you've absolutely nailed the Benteke point. I've been saying exactly the same thing for the last month. It's the obvious choice. My big fear now is Jack getting a knock or him losing his rag and getting sent off. Hope to see your at Brighton bud.
I think you have been very generous to a few players. If you consider that 5 should be average, then why are we in so much trouble in the league
Heaton 7 good and steady but made a few mistakes
Nyland 5 stepped in did well but glad we do not have to rely on him
Guilbert 7 good and has potential
Elmo 5 past it, but suitable backup
Konsa 5 has potential needs to play more for proper assessment
Hause 5 same as Konsa
Engles 5 started really well but form dipped and there are weaknesses in his game
Mings 7 good but a few shaky games
Taggett 4 disappointing always picking up niggles, shaky defensively
Taylor 4 he’s backup quality for the championship
Grealish 9 dragging our team through every game
McGinn 6.5 some goals early on but his form was awful for a few games prior to injury
Marvelous 4 started well in a few games but has been average-to-bad recently
Douglas 4 has ability but makes horrible mistakes and does not seem to have awareness of the opposition
Lansbury. 3 offered nothing
Jota 3 looked good in preseason but offered nothing in the league
Hourhaine 7 weaknesses in his game have been well documented, but has made vital contributions to our wins
Trez 4 lots of running but that’s it
El Ghazi 6 sometimes brilliant but goes missing too often
Wes 4 sulks, doesn’t get involved in hold up play, doesn’t score enough
Kodjia 2 no effort, waste of time
Davis 4 we love him, but he will not get us the goals we need, not good enough at the moment
There are weaknesses in out 1st 11 that need addressing, but our squad depth is Appalling
What would you say to Andre Gray??
Difficult to accept we sold Kodjia in these circumstances. Even v Fulham with limited service he set up Al Gazhi twice for 2 sitters.
Huge oversight to go into the season with only 3 strikers, all of which are unproven at this level. respect to Wesley for taking on the challenge but the recruitement has failed this season. we need a goal scorer asap
Ben we should go for piatek
@@charlieetheridge6366 we've signed samatta another striker from Belgium who's unproven. Visa means he misses Brighton and Watford, time to settle etc and get a few games under his belt and we're around game 30 . He has to hit the ground running or we're in trouble. Huge gamble again.
@@golgotha3938 Personally I am totally unconvinced by Pitarch. He only seems to know Spanish players and people in the Belgian league. Kalinic from Gent - complete waste of money. Wesley and Nakamba from Brugge - both too early for the Premier League. And Trezeguet plucked from nowhere but also not Premier League standard. Now another unknown from Genk. Plus Luiz from Girona - I've never thought he's had any commitment to the cause (on the /10 ratings I'd give him a 3). In my eyes, none of these are the required standard and Pitarch completely underestimated the challenge. By contrast it seems to me that Smith is asking for players he knows (from the Championship - Jota, Konza, or failed attempts for Phillips, Maupay) or British players with guts and experience (Heaton, Drinkwater). It's penny-pinching by Purslow (the gospel of "resale value", which makes us no better than these Belgian Jupiler League clubs), aided and abetted by Pitarch not understanding the Premier League. We have just four acceptable players (Grealish, McGinn, Mings, Heaton); a couple of "maybes"; the rest are not the required standard, and don't offer the quality or the fighting spirit needed to survive. Many of us, me included, were caught up in the hype of the new names and the win over Leipzig; but almost the entirety of them haven't worked out.
Nothing silly about benteke and Murray in my opinion I'd be delighted with that
I travelled from Colchester for the game Sunday. Tactics were way to negative. If we haven't got the money then get loaned players in with the option to buy next season. Simple
Luiz is not a defensive midfielder, lacks pace and will move on and shine. Agree.
Nakamba is a 5 and again has not shone in the First team
Move on and shine like a dozen former Villains in the prem right now.
What has happened again to Fan Cams.?
Tom rocking the Gabby bumfluff Moustache
Engles was the 11th fastest footballer in the world in 2020! Over 24mph. Quicker than aub and vardy. Shocked? I sure was 😂😂
Prime question. Are we going to survive this season. ???
The Guilbert one is obvious. Elmo is more defensive. Smith has lost faith in this team and set up to park the bus
trezeguet 4, jota 6??? Tom Julian wtf...
You've rated all the players. Be interested to see what you'd rate Smith out of 10? (This season only)!
I love deano an he is a good manager but i dont think he is cut out tactically for the premier league, our football is to slow, we dont press high enough and our midfielders at the minute cant come and receive a ball from the back properly. We have a decent squad and most have decent individual performances but we just cant play as a team properly
I reckon the likes of trez, Luiz, marvellous have gone off the boil a bit lately because of the winter. Wet windy brum is hard work in the winter even after spending my whole life here. So I can see it getting some players down.
Gone off the boil? Never been more than lukewarm. But El Ghazi has manned up, a bloody nose and no gloves.
Scott Hogan completely overlooked guys..?
Yeh we should at least consider bringing him back as a back up
What has happened to Fan cams.?
Paul Waring Camera man got called into work last minute 🤷
@@danbardell8616 🤦♂️
3.5 on Big Wes is just ridiculous. 5 minimum.
We just love finding scapegoats every season, it's so annoying.
Not a scape goat mate, I think 3.5 at best for Wesley. He has terrible.
Dean Smith rating?
I thought you could only have 2 loan players in the prem? Has the rule changed? If not why do people keep talking about loans?
I agree with Tom’s Wesley score, 4 max
Woeful - Why did we get Drinkwater who gave them 2 goal start.
He should be sent back to Chelsea as Burnley did = he is not a Premiership player.
He's definitely put of form and fitness, that chunk against city will have helped. Not a prem player? He won the bloody prem
Was
@@alexavfclineham7301 Did not play for Burnley as he was not good enough.
2016 is ages ago and not relevant.UTV
Why the hell did Smith play an unfit new boy for 78 min? "Let's give Danny his personal fitness games... against Man City." Meanwhile it's -5 goal diff now which might come back to haunt. What DD might become in a month is unknown. Why Smith continues make dumb decisions and get away with them is a bigger issue.
@@dipthongthathongthongthong9691 he was blowing in the warm up !
Smith swaps teams hoping it clicks like Bruce. Smith sees a different game which is massively worrying.
Smith was forced against his will to change the team against Burnley. He reverted to his formation against Fulham, then back to five at the back against Leicester. But by playing Taylor, Elmohamady, Hourihan and Drinkwater against City what was his idea, IMHO?
To much of a nice side, nice manager, which is no good. Some players are getting away with under performing, the need a rocket up the backside, but who's going to do that. We need a manager the players are going to respect...
hourihane gets a 7? lol
You know Deeney will want to score against us on Tuesday night ..🙄
Deeney will score against us on Tuesday.
Get benteke back!!!!
"Name me a goal he's cost us?" .... Burnley
If you're talking about Heaton, look at his positioning for the Arsenal winner. Then his half-hearted attempt when he should have Schumachered the Norwich player. Then whose decision is it to not have players on the posts at corners? Conceded at least two down to that. Does he ever come for crosses? Apart from that 7/10.
neil taylor getting a 5 from dan is a disgrace
Should be -5
@@ryanevans9832 if it was minus 5 he might run about a bit more !
Taylor and targett would have got 3 a pop from me. So would luis and nakamba.
Jack would have been a 10. Literally couldn't expect anything more from him!
Smith Out!! I said it after the Burnley win, Fulham loss, Leicester draw, and now after the Man City humiliation. The manager and the players have brought dishonour on the fans and it’s time for a fucking change!!! SMITH OUT NOW!!!!! 😡😡😡 ☘️🍀☘️🍀☘️🇮🇪🇮🇪
I’d give Douglas Luiz a 3
but alllow connor to get a 7. no way
Connor has atleast contributed in a couple wins. What had Douglas luiz done
Jack is not a striker! Is Smith on crazy pills? He persists week in week out when Grealish has always done his best work running up through the heart. Play Jota up front. Is there a choice?
Jota is absolutely shite and should be kept as far away from the first team as is humanly possible. UTV VTID
@@cyberdonblue4413 Back to the Sty with him !
I thought so when I first saw he was from Birmingham too but he has some tops dribbling skills, can make goal scoring plays and beats the living shit out of that excuse Trezegay
@@thesunstate5803 I think Jota and Trezeguet are both useless. All huff and puff and then give the ball away. No end product from either of them and both are a liability defensively because they don't do the defensive things asked of them. Just two of a number of poor quality signings Deano has made. OK in the Championship but definitely not Premier League quality. UTV VTID
Now go and beat Brighton.
Get Benteke in
Benteke's old. Atalanta's Muriel is the one!
Get them both in
Are u boys finally realising why we say hourihane is not prem quality? worse player on the pitch, everything bypassed him.
Strange that you give all the players a rating of 5 or higher (except Kodjia) so that means you must have been expecting us to be in this position at the start of the season? You certainly didnt give those vibes when the season started. Think you are being far too nice to the players you like rather than judging them on how they have played. There are at least half a dozen players who have underperformed so should be rated less than 5.
Luiz for example hasnt been as good as I expected seeing as he was a 15m signing from Man City and they made noises about how unfair it was that they couldnt get a permit. So I was expecting a player good enough to be on the fringes of their team so should be rated 3. Taylor can't defend and ruins attacks so should be 2. Wesley for 22m should have shown more than he has 3. Konsa was another big money signing who hasnt delivered yet 4. Trez has shown glimpses but again I was expecting more 4. Theres a reason why we are in the relegation zone. Players havent performed anywhere near what was expected of them. Thats not me writing them off, they could be great next season, but right here right now, they havent done the business yet.
junxs1
Luiz, Marvelous, Jota, Trezeguet, Taggart, Wesley, Kodjia are all under 5 for me.
Only Mings, Grealish, Guilbert, Heaton have really performed.
Not a fan of the player ratings for half the podcast bit, found it quite boring to be honest, was looking forward to hearing your views about the situation with fans booing and leaving very early at the Man City game, and the fans who stayed and tried to show the team we were still with them, oh well, U.Y.V 👍
Shameful performance. Bottled it
Target is a p***y get's sick with physical challenges and goes down in pain with every touch, Jack is the Most Fouled in the Prem was in the EFL too and yes he goes down too but he is strait back up and trying to create
Luiz gives the ball away every game apart from his wonder strikes he has offered nothing if were winning he kicks it out to waste time and again gives away possession responsible for at least 2 goals that cost us points
Elmo Taylor Landsbury are championship players
Hourihan is annoying me he gives assists and goals and as dan said important but his body language and if he gets the shirt he drops off (lazy) he will need someone pushing him every week and ready to replace him NOT LUIZ
CITY WON'T WANT HIM NOW We need half a squad still add mcginn injury if we lose Jack or Mings again to injury too WE ARE FUCKED COME ON BOYS SORT IT OUT UTV VTID V4L
Disappointing there were no viewer questions. Always comes across as very self indulgent when they're not included. 3/10
Smith Out!! I said it after the Burnley win, Fulham loss, Leicester draw, and now after the Man City humiliation. The manager and the players have brought dishonour on the fans and it’s time for a change!!! SMITH OUT NOW!!!!! 😡🤬 ☘️🍀☘️🍀☘️🇮🇪🇮🇪
