I have guitars that are worth a thousand an guitars that are worth $63 when recording in the studio hard to tell the difference. I do like the Fishman fluence pickups I have but when I recorded another song with different pickups hard to tell which ones which.

I get so annoyed by how many cheap, terrible guitars (usually Strat style) that have great finishes. If I was better with tools I'd just transplant a load of Squier parts onto them and make them into a decent instrument.

Slide guitarists don't care. They play with thrown together cigar box guitars, warped necks and rusty strings.
Pawn shops would probably get you a better deal than wish. When my friend wanted to learn guitar I went shopping with him and found a 79$ squier strat with great electronics (as good as a squier affinity can get), zero dead frets, and it also came with a hard case. The only problem was some monster stuck tape on the fretboard but it was nothing lemon oil couldn't fix, we also changed the strings which were the originals off of it.
Guys, I tried, I really really tried to make this sound good lol. Sometimes a guitar is THAT bad.
Side note, Patrick’s bass still sounded awesome!

@@mattjones8523 I did a total GFS/XGP mod project (featured on their page), and it's pretty much the first one I pick up when I just feel like tearing shit up. It's a freaking beast.

@@greattoseayou248 that ;) cheap guitar is a second hand guitar from those shops you can get some second hand goods.. I don't know what those stores are called, but it's a store where he got his clothes from too perhaps.
The sad thing is that back when Kurt was alive and before breaking into mainstream, those particular guitar models he usually buy probably were $150-$250 in thrift stores and pawn shops. Possibly cheaper. Now that his band and himself are legendary today, the prices and demand of them have gone way up - new or used. You gotta credit him for making the Fender Mustang and Jaguar popular again.

Replace the body, neck, electronics, hardware, and well everything! By the time you are done, you'll have a decent guitar.
@@ianmiller4195 Body and neck stays....new tuners and nut along with fretwork and new electronics....you toss the bridge in the garbage bin ,get some maple wedge and glue it in the bridge hole and get a simple hardtail bridge to mount(that is very inexpensive)....in the end you dont have to spend even half of what is suggested and you ll have an excellent guitar.
I want to see him upgrade this Strat copy.

The song is killer as always, and I love what Patrick brought with the bass.
I love the way it looks but gosh darn does it sound bad even from the demo, especially in the "verse" riff with the lead notes.
Great stuff tho, I'm definitely gonna check out Patrick's vid on his bass.
I think the blue finish of the body looks very good, but that's just the only thing I'd save 🙂

Take the pick guard off and see what it looks like under there. If it has a swimming pool route see how many different pickups you can fit in the guitar at once.

@@agufishWell originally I was thinking something like that lefty Les Paul from the Guitar Player article about the worst guitar mods. The one with the P90, single coil, mini humbucker, and humbucker. 9 single coils is a whole new level though. DM me if you really wanna try it. I have two electrical engineers in my immediate family who can help design the circuit. Imagine an 81 position rotary dial for all possible combinations of the pickups lmao.

Actually I just realized a fantastic use for this guitar: non-close-up set props for filmmaking. Would work great for a short scene in which the player smashes his guitar at the end or something. Or even if you were low budget and needed to outfit a few actors playing band members with instruments for a scene in which there's a band performing in the background. Get some of those funny spaghetti logo headstock decals off Etsy that say "Fucker" instead of Fender, and you're good to go; low-cost, potentially high production value depending on how you shoot it, and realistically little to worry about in regards to licensing issues since you're not actually using a Fender branded instrument. I just wish (fucking goddamn puns I didn't even mean to do that) that Wish would advertise these as working props so that unsuspecting beginners didn't get screwed!

I have an Ibanez GIO GRGR120EX and it was my first electric guitar. I got it from Guitar Center and the setup on it was good, and it played well right away. It has a 6-Screw style bridge with a screw-in trem arm. It has two humbuckers, with a 3 way selector switch and one volume knob along with one tone knob. Overall it’s pretty good and mine came with three springs on the trem but if you plan to keep the bridge against the body and use a string gauge higher than 9’s, definitely add another spring or two. But for only $200, it’s an extremely good beginner guitar, and I still use it to this day.

I have that exact guitar, got it on ebay, but I'm sure it's the same manufacturer, except mine was shipped from the US (had free shipping on ebay). I really like it for what it is, just something to pick and strum for a little bit every now and then. I have to say mine seems to have come in better shape than yours, both cosmetically and in terms of playability. But that's the thing with these low cost manufacturers, you never know what you're going to get and there's no one being accountable for consistent quality.
I haven't opened it to check, but I've thought of getting humbuckers for it as a project.

Great point, the only people that would buy this junk are people unprepared and unable to deal with it, and would make any new player quit within the first minutes of trying. If only it came with a warning/disclaimer sticker that said "Sorry, this is not really a guitar, just a replica. Not meant to be played!" 🎶🎸

Look, this is just one of those things where you can solve a life problem and be done with it probably forever. Getting razors in the mail sounds like a trivial thing, but once you get used to it you realize that the inconvenience of buying razors in a store is just stupid. There's no reason for you to have to spend even one minute on it ever again, so don't.

I got the same guitar on eBay for $38 (had a coupon) with free shipping. For $38 it's fine enough for me just to dick around with until i either learn to play or give up on it. I got the bass as well. Bass and guitar and a pocket amp for under $100. Not too bad if you ask me.

Do you think you can try to get a hold of one Richard Kruspe's ESP signature models for a demo? Maybe the RZK Burnt 2 since you love LP shapes.
New Rammstein is a grower. At first you are like "mmm" but after a couple listens it kicks in

7:02 best way to check for this in a hurry/from pictures on a cheap or used guitar is to see how centered the dot markers are between the D and G strings on the higher frets.

You could make a wall clock out of it. Hang it on a guitar hangar and inset a clock face in it that way it’s not going to waste.
Go get the fretboard scalloped and change out the parts. Or was this already done? Did the frets need work?

Would be interesting to know what you get if you order a software like Fl Studio, Cubase, Studio One or similar. They can't realisticly send you a look a like program that they coded them self, so is it hacked, stolen, warez, pirated, registred with an own generated key or what?

The body is rather attractive and the neck is salvageable. Sand it, get it oiled and do an extensive fretjob (maybe a refret considering the soft frets) and the rest can be removed and upgraded. But this is only an option if you took it on as a project or to build up luthiery skills.

Hunter - Review The Firefly 335-style Guitar. You get them off of Amazon - don’t buy from EBay or Craigslist - those are “flippers”. Got mine 6 months ago - they hit Amazon & within days they’re gone. GREAT GUITAR for $139.
I think you bashed on the guitar a little too much. I have the same one basically, but i got it on amazon for $80, and i think its pretty good for just a beginner like me. One thing i thought was cool about it, is the strings are so far that it doesnt need an amp if you want to play it like a quiet acoustic, but still hear it well.

Thanks for reviewing this. I was thinking of buying one as a mod platform. Now I know to stick with used $50-100 Squires on craigslist, and I'll probably buy a Harley Benton or Agile soon since they come highly recommended. That guitar from Wish would make me want to swap out the neck, pickguard and body too, hahaha!
The only purpose of guitars like this is to separate you from your money. There was a time when the only choice was between junk and pro-quality equipment. Quality at the bottom end has improved to the point at which you have a choice of decent instruments around £100-130 from name manufacturers, and if you're willing to buy used, the range is even wider and the quality higher still. There has never been a better time to buy an inexpensive guitar, but this instrument is the embodiment of false economy.

Dude its a relatively decent electric at $50, wish I had that in the 90s when I was a kid and wanted any cheap guitar I could get my hands on.
I think it's mainly just something beginners should buy to see if they should play guitar or not without having to spend 300$ only to find out they hate guitar

I bought that exact same one but I’ve put a dragonfire pickguard and roller string trees and locking tuners on mine and all in its $100. It doesn’t even play or sound bad at all now!

Was it just my bad ear or did each pick up sound pretty much the same no matter which ones you had selected? No, the neck pick up sounded even more harsh than the others. Thank you for your review on this ax.

My question is, if you stuck a Mighty-Mite neck and some new hardware on it, would it sound better and perform better?
I buy the no names $30+ guitars just for the necks to put on my designs. Some of the other parts are usable a well.
How do you even find what you want on wish, you search something and it comes up with everything related in no order at all can't put it in relevance or price order. Aliexpresss and tomtop make much more sense.
