Hey guys. The regulated distribution charges are what pays EPCOR.
The municipal franchise fee goes to the city.
One needs to take many courses to understand it all.

There were MLAs from Peter Lougheed's government, who have said that Ralph Klein's deregulation of electricity was a very foolish thing to do. They were correct. Before Ralph Klein, TransAlta and the UCP were doing crooked things with our power grid in Alberta, Alberta had among the lowest power prices in North America. Now, we have among the highest power prices in North America, and certainly the highest power prices in Canada.

I question the final comment. My understanding is that the Transmission and Distribution is directly tied to how many kWH you consume.
If you use more kWh in a month, your transmission and distribution charge will be higher.
Solar dramatically reduces your bill and Alberta is the sunniest place in Canada.

Mine was 600, and I only used a little bit more actual power than you did.

Here's another bad problem associated with Ralph Klein's deregulation of electricity in Alberta. All those different fees and charges cost far more than the cost of power itself. The delivery charges are among them. If someone has a summer cabin, and they use no power at that cabin from September to June, they will still be paying a lot of money for all of those different fees and charges. That's definitely gouging.

what kills me is that the power is produced in one place, yet 20 different companies can charge different rates.
They say it's a free market, but it seems like a cartel.
