But what if the only way to prevent a catastrophe is to assume that it has already happened, that the apocalyptic zero hour has already passed five minutes? What if a major catastrophe is not only a threat to be avoided, but also something necessary to wake us up? Without such a catastrophe, we will simply slide further into self-annihilation.
