Huge track day success!! The civic type r felt AMAZING on the track and had no overheating with the new mods. The HKS intercooler, oil cooler, and J's racing front grill did their job! We did a 1.24 at streets of willow in a stock fk8!!

You have to remember in the type R the front wheels are responsible for outputting power and steering, so less throttle on the turn-ins will make you a lot faster, it will virtually eliminate the understeer. Not undermining your driving what so ever you did fantastic! But definitely watch some FWD specific driving vids for a quick run down, will definitely make you faster!
Obviously as you said those tires aren't helping you at all too haha
Slow in fast out, find the the line and start braking as late as you can/need to and get on the throttle when you can without disrupting the line. If you hear tires squeeling, you're giving it too much input through the front wheels

I used to be a PDI technician for Honda and these Type R’s are a dream to drive
Dustin & Tim - I am running on my FK8 Acuity Reverse flow hoses and Koyorad Radiator with Distilled water and water wetter. I highly recommend the Acuity Reverse flow hoses because they grab coolant from the top of the radiator instead of the bottom (which sees all the heat from the back side of the intercooler, AC condenser) plus there is just so much heat trapped down there. With the J's Racing grill which I am running, you're getting straight cold air contact to the topside of the radiator. You will enjoy this setup for track days. Cheers mate

Man these steering inputs are nuts. You can hear the skids on each input adjustment. I’d recon you’d get faster with better steering input.

Get those Acuity radiator hoses. Up to a 5F difference in temperature.

I would recommend a big rear sway bar. 27m. It will allow the rear of the car to rotate more; less understeer. Your front tires will take less of a beating.

Hey goat just saw ur vid and for the brake heating I'd recommend some Mixed rotors (perforated with ventilated interior) better cooling and inventually they'll last longer

Side note: I'll never understand how people can spend certified bawlla bucks on a brand new carbon front lip and go straight to the track w/ it. You need an iron set to do that 🤌🏻
You built a very nice new school type R. My favorite type R will always be an integra type R. Would be cool to see you build an Rsx R. Those are very stylish and fast!
Dustin look into getting impact zones on your track cars ppf'd. Will stop stone chips and might have even helped save that Js lip 👍

Not sure if someone has shared but eventually you’ll toast the brembos, with your experience on track you’ll want to upgrade to maybe another set of APG
Working my way to grid life but mean time I 1/4 my car. 2 hours to and 2 hours back from drag strip. Appreciate the hustle.

That's why it is easy to break the front lip on a track day if You ever drive too hard and slide off the Track. Not All Tracks have both sides that are Flat on the same level as the Track itself. I've skidded off the Track before in Australia and my Type R was like flying in mid-air before it landed. And it felt like my car dropped down to the ground and heard a loud banging noise when it landed.
It's going to hurt even more when You lower the car with a New suspension.
Cool car! you should see if its possible to hang a gopro from the dome light for laps. I think it would be a killer view for us.

Don't get me wrong, the TE37s are like the most iconic wheels in the industry but, I don't think they do the type r justice like the Titan7s. The titan7s just look fantastic on the type r. That white and bronze is just killer. The TEs are a bit bland for how much is going on with the styling of the Type R. Still killer. Loving the content. Keep it up 🤘

I made all of that Aero on the Supra!!! i work at Sayber Designs/ battle aero , we made the front lip and carbon fiber hood louvers and the front splitter
I also made full replacement wide front fenders for the Type-R recently 😅

Grassroots tip: Hit the AC button off when running heat on the track so the compressor clutch doesn’t feel like kicking in on decells

It’s never too late
I remember the Js Racing guy say you can’t change the suspension on the FK8 because the ride height sensors mess with the ABS when it’s lowered. Something to look out for!!!👍🏽
You can still change it. When going coilovers, he'll have to get the suspension cancellers so no error codes will come on

The trick to front wheel drive is to play with the throttle, like someone said the front wheels are the driven wheels, less acceleration in turns will make it turn better and reduce understeer, but a quick little tip in my opinion would be when you enter a corner just at the apex you should be on full throttle if the car has an LSD (which this does) it will pull you into the corner, playing around with that trick will let your exit speed be a little bit faster as you can take a wider line and when you feel like you might have gone a little too wide pressing the throttle with the help of the LSD will pull you back in. I don’t know what effect this is called but usually noticeable or high BHP FWD cars
Brake ducts and rear wing swap and why do you still keep the rear seats in, when going on track?
Car did great but plz go thicker oil. Track driving a car on 0w20 by the time oil gets hot that's like a 0w5 basically water. Plz go 5w40. That 0w20 stuff is just for less drag more mpg not performance driving. Save those rod bearings.
Understeer could be from camber change!
