My shibe approached me in a park one day when i was walking my dogs and jumped into my car. No collar and obviously starving. Home we went and he jumped onto my husband's lap, taking care of any potential objections to adoption there. We couldn't trace his 'owner' (the idea of owning a shibe is laughable) so he stayed. He decided on his own walk times by climbing out of any open window and going for a stroll when he felt like it. Obedience training? Don't make me laugh. He reacted with polite embarrassment to our efforts. We knew Otto for 7 wonderful years before he died of cancer. What a gentleman he was. I miss him every day.
A lot of people are confused by how Shiba’s can be so closely related to wolves, but if you look up a picture of what the Japanese Wolves looked like before they went tragically extinct, you’ll quickly realize why they’re considered as such. The old Japanese Wolves basically looked like large, feral Shiba’s. It’s wild.
@ThisCreatedAccount Sorry to hear that 😟. But doggy heaven 😍 sounds good. My family adopted him five years ago. He survived cancer too. A psychic told my mom he's playing around in the yard.
My Shiba is only selectively cat-like. He likes to keep himself clean, and is independent. He's extremely affectionate, but it's always on his own terms. The older he is, the more he loves to cuddle, but in no way is a Shiba a lap dog. He's now 4 years old.
Really?! I spend a month there each year as my SO currently lives there. I've seen plenty of dogs out there, but never a Shiba, so I guess I just assumed it was too hot for them or something. That's excellent to hear!
@@Ruscharound19 Yeah I was on Oahu in Waikiki, and I'll never forget asking a nice old Japanese lady if I could take a pic of her dog to send back to my old roommate... despite all my praise the Shiba was completely uninterested and looked at me like I was just wasting their time😂
Found out from my vet my dog is a Shiba cross. After watching this it's quite clear she is. She makes the same sounds, she's stubborn as hell, does the Shiba scream and she's always cleaning herself.
I never heard MY Shiba Inu do a shiba scream. When I come back from a long day he just runs toward me. And also my Shiba was always friendly to strangers and friendly to other dogs.
I love my Shiba! One of the best dogs I've had :) Maybe I just got lucky but I always found the statement "Shibas can be hard to train" funny. Mine has no problems when it comes to training at all. He loves it! I usually brush him once or twice a week and that seems to do just fine. More often when he is blowing his coat.
My shiba inu is Black and tan and i'm soo glad that i have him, he is new so he is still feeling somewhat uncomfortable at his new home beacuse of cats, but he is a good boy.
Yes I have a cream Shiba puppy 🐶 3 and a half months old now, very mischievous, extremely active, hyper , playful all the time and stubborn too, at times I really don’t know how to cool him down lol so much energy
Hahah seems like my uncle's shiba -Riko is opposite to these shibas. My uncle trained him in a few weeks to shake, sit, lie, and fetch. He is so friendly, but protective. I love him so much
My shiba grew up with lots of people around which was very good for her socialization . she gets very happy and excited when anybody comes to the house and loves to play especially with children because the kids will run with her and play ball . However she is a terrible watch dog as i suspect she would invite burglars in for tea.
my cousin has two shibas, a white and brown. she's had pucca for 7 years and bailey for 4 years. i love them and i love dogsitting them but the problem is they shed so so much. if you ever go into my cousin's car, it's full of dog fur and in the end of the day i have dog fur all over my clothes. she grooms them 3-4 times a weeks so i don't understand why they shed everywhere. anyone?
I have a shiba inu, she sheds a ton for a couple of weeks every half year, is otherwise completely fine, and does not need daily grooming. In fact, they need very little grooming at all where I live, so I am not sure if Hawaii has the best climate for sheebs.
Amir I paid $1000 for my Shiba. Do not buy a Shiba just because they are "cheaper" this usually means they are either commercially bred, backyard bred or from a puppy mill. a more expensive dog will be healthier and have a better temperament.
Are Shiba Inus really as small as people say them to be? They don't look that small on videos... Like, are they as small as pugs? (The only dog whose size I am familiar with lol) Or are they bigger? If so, by how much would you estimate?
Shiba inus come in 3 colors. Cream is not a standard color nor is it intentionally bred for (in good breeders). The video should have clarified this because any reputable breeder that is breeding for creams is more than likely a puppy mill. Otherwise, this was a great video! :)
I don't get how they're independent and don't like to please their owner by they're loyal and affectionate to them? Like what actions express their loyal and affection?
Think of it like being married to a really well adjusted adult. If you shouted 'COME HERE!' to your well adjusted spouse they would look at you compassionately, wonder what had got into you, and decide whether coming over to you fit in with their plans or not. They might come to you or they might not. They might go shopping instead. They wouldn't get annoyed with you but they wouldn't feel the need to explain why they weren't obeying you because hey, we're both adults here, right? They'd notice that you were the kind of person who likes to give orders a lot (you silly old bossypants) but they wouldn't take it personally. They would just get on with their own agenda and love you just the same.
Shibas love to chase things so a cat that is well socialized and doesn't mind a dog up in its face is good. My shiba only does the shiba scream when I have to leave him at the house. But it doesn't sound like the videos shiba scream.
I wanted to get one within the next year but watching this made me question whether I should or not since I have a cat. They said it can be aggressive and I don't want it to be mean to the cat or have people in fear to come to my house because of it...ugh
Amazing, I was given a pup in October, her paper's say Pomsky, they must be real close in behavior as mine acts like this, requires much attention, looks like the white and tan one, she is smaller though. Still trying to figure out Dora's true identity 🤣🤣🤣 at 65, I feel like I have a bad behaved 1 year old sometimes, too ADORABLE to train, the high pitch she makes though too! Thank you for the video
Don't expect your shiba to act like a golden retriever or a German shepherd or treat them like one...a shiba needs a whole different approach and is not fit for everyone
they forgot to mention that they are escape artists!! This is VERY important for anyone considering getting a shiba!! My dog will bolt out of my door at any opportunity!! He refuses to return, despite being called, bribed with treats, etc...he only comes back when good and ready...it's quite annoying...if I would have known this, I would never have gotten one

My baby is a sesame. He's 19!!! Adopted four years ago but his health is declining 😭💔 but he's the sweetest grandpa.
Kumokun Domo is he still alive?
How is he now ?
@ThisCreatedAccount He past away a week before his 20th birthday in March. 😭 He was a great 🐕

Aww mine will be 16 in November ❤️
All I do is sit on my ass and watch shiba inu puppy cams

My Shiba Inu constantly does the Shiba Scream even if me and my family are only gone for 15-30 minutes...
+Lupes Mine does it when he wants to go for a walk. He does it a lot when he sleeps, too.
He also does it towards Ambulance. :) So cute
This dudes voice was so relaxing! I could watch videos of Shiba's and listen to him talk all day.
I love my Shiba! Yes, they are escape artists, but it can be managed! She is the best dog I have ever owned!

I'm sorry about him 😊😊
HOLY SHIT IT'S A DOGE
This video helped me a lot, you gave me everything I need to know about my shiva inu
There are cream Shibas? My heart can’t handle this

Omfg my heart melts everytime I see a shiba
My shiba is almost a year old and he’s so cute! I definitely would recommend people get shibas
They dont act like cats.. theyre just independant and very loving
Hahah seems like my uncle's shiba -Riko is opposite to these shibas. My uncle trained him in a few weeks to shake, sit, lie, and fetch. He is so friendly, but protective. I love him so much
shiba inu A.K.A doge
I had no idea how little they were! 😄🧡
I wish the Shiba inu socials in NYC had much more friendly people cause my jiro needs friends =(
Love Everything about Hawaii, even shibas.
1:06 dog in the background: ok uh good stop too pee uh yeah
Didnt know they're so small
At least they're not huge so you can have them in house
Akitas are the big version :)
SAMMMEEEE
I want a fucking doge as a pet they are much cute. Such playful
I had a shiba german shepard mix. Best dog I have ever had. Lost her when she was 14 yrs old. One of the worst days of my life.
against the coat? no! dont do that! always along with the fur!

As ya can see by my profile picture, this is probably the only video I haven't watched yet about cute lil shobers.
I sweartogahd I thought that was David Hasselhoff at first
Hihi yes me too
And I have a shiba/lab mix. You can probably imagine how much he sheds...

Shibas are medium sized dogs. So they're bigger than pugs. If pugs are small and German shepherds are large, shibas are like somewhere in the middle.
Much Info Very Helpful Wow :)
They look so much like my Akita :)
I like to think they’re the mini version of the Akita 😆
Awwww I must get a Shina Inu breed because I already own a Shiba Inu coin 😍😍😍😍
White Shiba:Skinned potat
Sesame Shiba:Baked potat
Red Shiba:Regular potat
Black Shiba:Burnt Potat
I’m watching this because I’m buying a shiba inu 💗🐕
Good luck , I understand they can be a lot of fun.
I want a sesame colored Shiba Inu
I like the ginger ones because they look like mini Dingoes 😁

That was indeed the shiba scream, though not the loudest example I've ever heard.
Coooool video! Me shiba inu toooo🐕
any other dogs like these that are better options for first time dog owners?
They have a lot of personality
I don't get how they're independent and don't like to please their owner by they're loyal and affectionate to them? Like what actions express their loyal and affection?

Mahlon has a radio voice
What type of dogs are these? They look so cute. Like a little fox.
Can you get this dogs when you are alergic to them?
Thanks now I'm ready for next month
You dont have to brush them every day. No wonder that guy's shiba looks so thin without any fluff; he removes all of it.
amaze video
doggo!

I've not seen any aggression with ours. He does play rough, but he gets excited. I was told if the are together and raised together they are fine
My favourite doge 😍
How is the weather where you live? I think that has to do with the amount your dog sheds. I don't know for sure though. Just a guess :P
*wow intensifies*
that happens with a lot of dogs, I have a westie and he does the same
"Like he said..." His heart got broken... poor guy.
Where can i buy this breed?
I want either a Shiba Inu or a Akita at some point..
My shiba inu never has done the shiba scream towards me, he only runs and jumps around the house 😭
If you hear it you won't forget it. It louder then what you hear on this video.
I've never seen so many disappointed dog owners in one video.
What's their temprement like? ***SUDDEN SCENE CUT***
Pure beauty.
can they live here in the philippines? i want a yellow one
i learned so much about the shiba inu then i knew... :D i want one so badly as a pet :( :(
They have also language
Look at that asshole-smug look. I love it!
Anyone who has a shiba, did you train them and do they bite much? I wanna get a shiba mix and I wann know if it is good for me
I'm a happy owner of a Shiba and that clip was quite accurate
but: no! ... that was not a "Shiba scream"!
The black and tan shibas have my whole heart
Very naughty dogs 🐕 but love them ❤️💯

Am I supposed to brush my shiba already as he's only 12 weeks old?
I have 2 puppies that r only 6 months one black and tan and one red
the doge keeps looking at boobs
mine is shiro and shinta

Never mentioned what 2 times of the year they actually blow their under coat. Anybody know the answer?
Shakalaka Bombastic spring and fall
Mine only tried to escape once, while still a pup
Norwegian buhund looks a lot like a shiba and is much better dogs I think
