@@JamesOnGuitar And it sounds excellent both into a clean amp and an amp thats ran wide open(which is how I used to run mine in the past but thats no longer practical).
Agree. It’s the one that I know will work well with all of my guitars and amps. Single coils and humbuckers are handled and it’s the first pedal I’ve used that is versatile enough for my Fender and Marshall amps too. The eq just fits.
@@Kaisermb1 The EQ just fits like you said, and I like how it doesn't sound "boxy" like a lot of other drives do, it remains open and dynamic even on higher gain settings.
The BB Preamp is not a Bluesbreaker, it’s much more saturated than that. I also have a Protein and it’ll never leave my board. Amazing in all situations.
All your equipment is top shelf for sure.Having clean amps I've been buying drives.I have 6 now using 2 is a good trick to cascade the drives.Being the country that Marshall came from I still prefer amp drive with reverb and delay in the loop.Hardly use my drives only with my Fender vibrolux. Nice gear sounds good.
Subscribed yesterday. Nice focus whether its about music or gear. I like that it's less focused on the aspiring professional musician and more on the dedicated amateur/semi-pro.
I have the regular dual Broadcast on my 2nd board for overall coloration and either fattening or thinning the tone depending on the amp or guitar being used. Also look forward to your Gladio video, I just put mine on my main board. What a killer drive pedal...
Yeah, the broadcast, protein and gladio belong in that category of pedals that just work and don’t make it hard work! Looking forward to trying the regular broadcast too 👍🏼
I'm always going to choose Germanium over Silicon, though I have found a few Si Fuzz circuits that I think are exceptional. To my ear, the AP version loses some of the magic of the Broadcast, - which I doubt will ever be supplanted on my boards. Amongst the classic OD circuits, the BB and Klon are notable, but I've largely dismissed both.I much prefer running straight boosts into the Broadcast, -or alternative pre amps in similar arrangements. Also sometimes useful are specific compressors, - like the Janglebox or Accountant, and/or Germanium Treble Boosters as additional tone shapers. Sometimes, it's definitely smarter to jump off on more expensive alternatives than lose successive trade values trying everything " reasonable" that is available.

Hi! Me too! I didn't know I was even looking for this until I tried it. Hold your hat though... a blues power vs jan ray video coming later today! (unless my wifi plays up and it comes out tomorrow...)
I feel like the protein has got people wondering why they either waited or over paid for the KOT. Have you tried either of the gladio options? Might pair well with your two rock!
Excellent. On my board I've the Hudson Broadcast plus the Hudson Sidecar which is like a tubescreamer on steroids. Could fancy that AP broadcast though........

James, we all fall in love with our GAS at some point. I’ve finally learn to embrace it as a superpower that I can harness for the good. 😉 Well done again sir
1:15 Quick thought (before to watch the rest of the video), you can perfectly do gear ‘overview’ videos without to be a gear ‘review’ video, meaning you don’t have to follow the usual rules of reviews and showing all bells & whistles of a brand new product that all youtubers are reviewing, but instead have your take on the gear and what it brings to you, how you use it, more like an overview of the gear. Talking about gear seems clearly a passion for you, so you shouldn’t stop yourself to do it on your channel... just do whatever you feel making at the time, and it will be up to the audience to catch it or leave it. My hint is that most people will catch it and will be perfectly fine with this (different) approach of gear :)
Really want one of those protein pedals. I just found you and you’re demoing all the pedals I’m considering at the moment, couldn’t be more perfect! Been considering the jan ray, the protein and the blues power. Would be amazing to win the pedal you’re giving away too!
What hat is that man? I have been searching for that exact look forever. Please tell me where you got it and what it is! Thanks man. Loved this video too
Very nice! Thanks for this! I’m glad you decided not to limit yourself. Love all the types. :) I always appreciate when you show the settings on what you’re doing.
Great thanks, will invest in the AP. You are making me question my dualist which is not a good thing however! Thanks for the content.. you have too many fine guitars and amps, occasional green eyed monster when watching your posts.

Seems like a wise decision to not declare the theme of this channel. One of the reasons I started watching is because you seem lost with what you want from the gear and I can sometimes relate to that!
9:50 Don’t worry, you can widely talk and recommend any gear without being a GAS enabler... It’s up to everyone to weight if they need the gear or not. It’s not your fault if something is good and is working for you and someone would take that as an encouragement to buy it for themselves, even if it might not be perfect for them. Everyone needs to do their own journey about gear acquisition :D :D :D
@@JamesOnGuitar it just means you care about your audience... maybe a little bit too much, but I can understand why. All I can say is, follow your guts and don’t worry about others, you will have haters at some point.... but if you have haters, it only means you’re doing something right, because we can’t please everyone and haters are gonna hate. the sound you are showing with the protein and the broadcast could prob be obtained by the protein if you just turned the gain up a bit. i didnt see much of what the protein is capable of here. i watched several videos on it
I take your point - but gain staging is important and being able to boost part way through a song and then go back to a lower gain and also the feel is actually quite different than just turning up the protein. I’ve done other videos showing more off about the protein, but this one was about a specific pairing and circumstance! Cheers
