  • Just a quick vid on the decorative lug nut caps. It may seem like when your trying to take off your lug nuts their bending. Its not the lug nuts its the tin caps. These things are worthless and terrible if you get a flat on the road

      Mine don't come off with needle nose pliers anyway. What a ridiculous system on these, can't believe it.

    Just wanted to add that this method won't work on chrome-capped lug bolts. The chrome bits are crimped to the bolt where they contact the wheel, making it impossible to pull apart. They have to be chiseled instead.

    Ford: Not so helpful - trying to change a wheel in the rain with this silly plastic trim... Aaaargh!

    Decorative lug nut caps? What a joke..
    Any automotive manufacturer who uses these as part of factory installation should be shot. Seems very unnecessary.

      It's friggan STUPID. My gf got a flat at her job and when I used the car jack in her trunk to break loose the nut, the plastic cover stripped off. Now the actual lug thats still on the wheel I gotta go home and get my ratchet tool kit to remove the lugnut. 😡

    • @bane6419

      Are they supposed to keep dirt out? Either way, I'm tossing them away.

  • @dandesorbo246
    @dandesorbo246 Год назад +2

    They don’t always come off so easy. Sometimes they are very stubborn buggers. But there is some truth to this. Occasionally with an impact they come off instead of the lug nut. Sure. But that’s after hitting an impact socket onto it with a hammer and then using an impact. Sometimes just getting a socket on is a whole ordeal. But yeah your best bet would be to replace them as soon as they start to become even a little difficult. Personally I hate the decorate cover nonsense because it causes unnecessary problems for very minor cosmetic changes.

  • @Ojeramup12

    getting these f1357! lug nut cover is difficult, if not impossible. Replace them ASAP before you are stuck somewhere at night at 10:45 pm for 2 1/4 hours before I could remove these nuts.

    cant even budge mine because the lug cap goes under the domed part of the nut. My caps do not end at the flat area like these do.

  • @icemonk12

    you can also get a 20 mm if there 19 and if run into Mopars that are originally 22 bt with the caps I've used 23

    • @dandesorbo246
      @dandesorbo246 Год назад +1

      There are sets that have the 1/2 mm too. 19.5 mm 21.5mm and 22.5 mm are the three main ones like this that you might find and or need. They are in some flip socket sets.

    Hit them with a flathead and hammer open it up in the front then start working it at an angle along the rim of the lug nut and the whole cover should start to turn keep at it until the whole thing spins off

    I had the same problem. I've got a 2013 Ford Escape and went to Walmart to get new tires that I ordered. The guy came back and told me that my love. Swor stripped and they were over tightened them and blah blah blah. So when I got my inspection two days later at my buddy's garage he said dude it's lug nut caps. That's funny that professional Tire Changers and installers don't even know what the fuck a lug nut cap is. It makes me nervous about going to Walmart for anyting now. Plus Walmart West me to check out my own stuff and then after I do it they want to check my receipt like I'm some sort of mandatory. If you don't trust me then don't let me check out my stuff

    You will scratch your alloy wheels with the steel pincer. There are special plastic tools available on the internet for very small money. Use these, instead.

  • @peredavi
    @peredavi 2 года назад

    It is aluminum cover on top steel lug nut. Sometimes need to chisel lug nut off or a metric socket in .5 size bigger. Take them all off now so you aren’t on side of road doing it! Unbelievable crap Ford or Dodge doe it.
