      As @hendersondaniel4889 mentioned, this conversation is edited back into 1:09:45. This youtube channel made an amazing work in editing silent hill 2.
      Still I see it right just to add a little consideration into this masterpiece now that I am writing this comment because this story covers topic of sudden death of loved ones that might happen to any of us. I am a highly religious person (religion of only God of course) or at least I think I am. what I want to add about death is just one logical concept, not religious per se, as I don't want to talk much here: "If there is no God in the universe as prophets of God claimed, then there is no meaning behind life". All our emotions in a godless world are just hormonal accidents controlled by things such as: meaningless evolution, meaningless survival instincts, or meaningless social blending memories. Your sadness for death of loved ones is as meaningless as your love towards them when they were alive. the reason to this fact is BECAUSE MEANING HAS ROOTS IN THE ORIGIN. in a world that origin and creation are meaningless chaos and accidents , no meaning can exist, (leaving the fact that existence from void can never happen from chaos or accidents because chain of existence should be bound to a higher form of being than existence itself and because chaos and accidents are connected to existence themselves, they cannot be the origin of themselves)." in summary, if there is a God, then you will find your loved ones in the next world if you and them were good and believing in Him, and if there is no God, why should you be sad for a meaningless past? when the path ahead is into vanity why do you care about the path behind being forgotten?
      At the end I advise you to believe in God. religions are so colorful and with so many versions and with many nasty people involved too advertising their political or racial taste. But God, one God, the God that prophets all claimed they are His messengers, believe in Him and His retribution in the judgement day. some might laugh at you believing in judgement day, they might call it so far fetched to be real. but let me tell you what was far fetched yet became real: our reality.

    Wooow. I think I know now the meaning of pyramid head's knife. It's because James is carrying Angela's knife it's like if James was carrying a heavy problem that not belong him.

    • @meursault7030
      @meursault7030 4 года назад +8

      In many people's opinions, the knife represents James' dick.
      (I didn't come up with this interperetation)
      James was sexually frustrated during Mary's deterioration. He feels guilty about it. Hence the nurses' revealing outfits, and the Red Pyramid Thing's big phallic knife and sexual assault on the mennequins.
      He feels guilty both for killing her, and for his natural desires sometimes coming to mind in the hospital even though his wife was dying. This is why Maria is dressed in a more provocative way than Mary dressed, and why she's more flirtatious and overtly sexual as opposed to Mary being the more romantic, chaste type in James' recollection.
      I'm not saying your take on it is wrong, just offering this one to consider. I like your view too, though. Never considered it.
      It's brilliant when art is left up to the viewers so we can all have fun swapping interperetations :)

      I never thought of this at all until now, that's really fascinating to learn from the game and James journey in Silent Hill with all the specific monsters that represents his sexual frustration and killing of Mary

    • @andrew19vato
      @andrew19vato 3 месяца назад

      One Idea that popped into my Head is every character other than James IS actually James himself but in a different form, or they have all commited the same Sin in some way or another, Eddie was the one who really came to mind, he has ALSO Killed , so essentially in a way he is James, but in a less honourable light, he is fat and Immature, and an escapist, whereas James is remorseful and a good-looking man but deep-inside has Terrible Remorse, whereas Eddie is remorseless, so in a way they are each other, but different versions of each other, I don't know if this has any credibility or if I just pulled it out of nowhere, not sure... But Angela for Instance, okay now I'm kinda riffing here tbh but seems like she is Mary and James all in one, and actually this theory actually DOES hold true at least for one of the characters, Maria, who is obviously James's Fantasy of how he wanted Mary to be. so yeah, I said initially that every character is a different aspect of James, but lemme rephrase that, every character is a fantasy or a Projection of James's Mind, someone he wouldn't want to be himself, or someone he wanted Mary to be, not to be etc whatever, I dunno, anyone else have any Ideas about this?

    As awesome as this is, only those who played it before iphones and guides, before there was a constant connection to the main frame. There's this indescribable feeling of nostalgia and emotion i get from sh2 that watching this just doesnt do justice, as amazingly well edited it is. This was an experience unlike any other in 2002. You just cant understand unless you played through it on your own before at least 2006.
    As off playing it so much some of the music changes were im so happy you
    Kept " making peace " from the original ost, in there as that scene is always whats gets me at the end. Its so beautiful.
    Making peace is the name of that song, and the extended version on youtube is just ...

      Avith Ortega - I'm sure it's due to copyright circumvention. I've been thinking of doing an anime adaptation of it with 50% of the original OST and 50% my own rearrangements for that reason (also because I am a young composer who loves studying Yamaoka's contributions to SH, but that's beside the point).

    Really like this compilation of SH2 cutscenes, the intertwining flashbacks works well with the flow. Only actual gripe with it is the soundtrack you used. I think the original soundtrack would've fit most of the scenes a lot better (the ones here seem off), like True playing at 312 and that initial part with the 2 PH (Betrayal, from start to finish, fit the gravity of the moment with James' self-realisation).

    Guys here's an ultimate theory: Pyramid Head is a good guy for several reasons.
    1 He kills the other monsters.
    2 He tries to kill James Sunderlund. (let's face it: he's the bad guy)
    3 He shouldn't be in the other games or movies.
    4 Everyone likes him.

    • @RTS-wg7ut
      @RTS-wg7ut 7 лет назад +1

      Madmonkeman He's morally ambiguous, like a lot of the entities in Silent Hill-Dark Alessa; "Samael" (named after a fallen angel in Talmudic & post-Talmudic Jewish lore who sometimes still does good); "Metatron" (named after another angel in the same Jewish mythology who was often considered the Angel of Death, and who may or may not also be morally ambiguous); the town itself (capable of punishing and/or aiding both innocent and guilty); etc. While he most obviously represents James' own lust and desire for punishment, he also guides James towards his "redemption" and, in the labyrinth, even arguably redirects James back in the right direction through his clockwise patrolling the halls around his private lair.

    I'm from Jamestown N.Y. Chautauqua County, its a county with several towns, including a small city around a lake that looks just like Toluca lake. Jamestown looks a lot like Silent Hill. Shephards Glen looks a lot like Mayville. Paleville looks a lot like celeron or lakeview. Check out Chautauqa County, it looks just like Silent Hill. There's also something wrong with this town, just like Silent Hill. I'm glad I'm leaving soon.

    I was scared shitless during the whole game, but I think the underground prison was definitely the most disturbing part. Everytime I walked into a new area I would kill every monster I found so I could explore the area without worries. But then that red pyramid thing showed up...

    Well, I loved this.
    The changed soundtrack in some parts didn't bothered me too much, except... when James finds Maria dead in the cell.
    Fermata in Mistic Air is the perfect mix of horrifying and beautiful in the form of music. I think the scene loses at lot from changing the music. The final Pyramid Heads encounter also sounded strange...

    So for the past several months- maybe 6 months (I think, maybe?) I’ve had a desire to revisit Silent Hill 2 again- and again while I looked for Silent Hill: Revelations, I came across this again. Again I watched this...... as I did back in March of 2017..... and again I remember everything. Everything past 1:20:00 really makes you remember and then to forgive a lot of the negative shit in your life.
    This really ends well which I appreciate.

    Eh....I liked the original tune at the beginning.
    But then for example when James meets Laura in the hotel by the piano......the music is much worse than the original that plays there.
    Some of it is hit and miss imo.

    This is an absolutely outstanding effort, but something is lost when watching this when compared to playing the game.
    Maybe some of the shots cut too early to adequately build tension, or maybe it's something to do with having to control James yourself when you're actually playing the game. Maybe it's just that I've already played the game through once and this is my second experience of the story. Either way, I think this is a stellar job, but can't possibly live up to the experience of playing the game yourself and probably shouldn't be used as a substitute for those who can't access the real game. Just wait until you can buy/pirate it. (most likely pirate it since Konami are a bunch of cunts and 2nd hand copies cost too much).
    Anyway, this is still really well done, and I appreciate that you kept in gameplay sections in a sort of mantagey way to give a sense of continuity rather than just having James seemingly teleport from cutscene to cutscene and act like that's a cohesive experience.
