- We spent two wonderful and relaxing days down at Lake Powell with John and Cindy. We did not take the houseboat out, which is a lot of work, so it was pure relaxation and fun. Cindy shows us how she plans for food for their time on the boat.

I am absolutely thrilled to hear about the cleaning standard between each family's visit. It shows a level of pride and respect that is in short supply these days.
I think it is very impressive as well. That owners' group does a great job of taking care of their property.
Pam thank you for the video. It was so interesting and I know you all had a wonderful time. I must say you and Cindy look so much alike you could pass as twins. The only difference is your hair. You both act alike, talk alike, etc, the only difference is your hair. I enjoyed the video and hope you all had a great time.
We had a wonderful time and are planning another trip together soon to Bryce Canyon in our trailers.
Enjoyed this video. Cindy seems like the most chipper person. Thanks for sharing!
She has always been upbeat and positive--a great sister!
We lived in Flagstaff, then Chandler AZ in the mid 1980's and water, or lack thereof, was a problem then. We moved to MN to raise our kids, and now will be retiring in TN for milder climate and other things better for us. The south western states have had water problems chronically for years, and will continue into the future. I hope for the best for them, but feel they will continue with the lack of water for years to come. So glad you had a good time with Cindy and John. Family is everything. What a treat to spend time in that great setting. TFS.
It really was a treat. Thank you.
We were just in Utah from 4/29/23 to 5/6/23. We flew into Vegas because it was so much cheaper than SLC. We rented a car and stayed overnight in St. George. We enjoyed Zion the first full day we were there. We hiked about six miles that day and it was exhilarating. So beautiful. Then we drove to SLC for two nights. We went to Antelope Island - the zoo - the Great Salt Lake - and downtown SLC. The next night we spent in Green River and enjoyed Arches and Canyonlands. We ate at the Lebanese/Greek restaurant in Moab and that was such a great treat. The next night was spent in Hatch. That was our most disappointing day in Utah. We spent the day in Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon, and Escalante. The parks were gorgeous - The hotel stay, not so much. We went to the Grand Canyon from there. That night we spent in Seligman Arizona at the Aztec Creative Space. That was an enjoyable little town and a wonderful hotel stay. Simple, but clean. We then went to Boulder City, Nevada to visit the Hoover Dam. We were absolutely amazed at the size of the project that was taken on while building the dam, the time era it was built, and the accomplishments of the people at that time. What a wonderful feat. The next morning we were back at Las Vegas to fly back home to Tennessee. We were exhausted. Utah is a beautiful state. Not our cup of tea for everyday life, but absolutely beautiful nonetheless. It was neat to watch your video and recognize certain points of interest like the Lone Rock. We actually chuckled going past it, making jokes about figuring out which rock was the "lone" rock. lol Great state to visit. We enjoyed it very much.
Glad you had a pleasant trip to our state! You mentioned several places that are on my "favorites" list.
I love visiting you all and Cindy and John. Your sister is so much fun and has so much get-up-and-go, that I enjoy her being on your videos immensely. I am glad the cleaning management inspects the houseboat after each stay, however I would not be looking forward to the cleanup after our week stay. It would be like spring cleaning the houseboat. How much does she charge for a full cleaning? I think I would save up for that and have the lady clean the entire thing for me, when I left. My Grandparents had a summer home on a lake and I don’t remember it ever being cleaned. It was spotless. I never saw her clean it so maybe she got up in the middle of the night, or had someone clean it when we left. What a fun and exciting trip. Thank you Pam and Jim for sharing.
You are welcome. I think it is very expensive to have the cleaning person clean the boat, which is why they do it themselves.
This was beautiful! Thanks so much and God Bless You wonderful people!
Thank you so much.
Hi Ladies and gents. Know you all had so much fun getting together. But so sad to see how much water is missing. Ms. Cindy wow talk about organization. Great job. Thank you for taking us along and sharing.
Thank you!
I hate to see the water so low but as a beginning kayaker, I’d finally feel comfortable giving it a go 😉. I hope it recovers soon. Bless the earth.
Yes, indeed...Bless the Earth.
Cindy is a jewel of a sister. (John is pretty cool, too!.) How great for them to be able to settle right into a very clean boat, and to have the knowledge that it was really clean, when they have made the trip down. Great food, great company, beautiful surroundings...y'all can go home recharged.
We certainly did! Thank you.

So you don't take the boat out on the open water? Meals look wonderful and it is always good to see your sister Cindy and John.
They do take the houseboat out once in a while when they have a full crew there. The 4 of us were not enough of a crew. The have a smaller ski boat that they sometimes bring down when we are there and we enjoy going out in that.
It's always fun to see how others pack food. We're in Georgia...lots and lots more trees here...and we have a 5th wheel we take to mainly state parks and have got the packing down like Cindy. We just leave the staples in the cabinets all the time and then just have to take just our meals that I usually prepare or at least plan in advance. We use the Blackstone a lot. After experiencing a cast iron cooking demo at a state park in Alabama.. the park put it on and they cooked a soup, bread and several other items including dessert.... we have started taking our dutch ovens with us. After a couple of fails we're getting better.
Your area is beautiful.
Thank you! We love where we live but hope to travel to visit many other parts of the country we haven't seen yet.
What a wonderful video! I enjoyed seeing this so much. Ty Pam and Cindy.
You are welcome.
We just left lake Powell. Went to the area for just the day. Thought of you and all your channels do for so many.
Sharing ownership of a houseboat is the way to go. We live in Michigan, Great Lakes State, and I’m very aware that we all take water for granted and are beginning to pay for it. We have plenty of water in quantity but the quality is dropping quickly. In this area we’re dealing with high PFAS from the water-proofing chemicals of a shoe factory.
It’s a fact that being near water relaxes the body and renews the soul. I wouldn’t trade Lake Michigan and our many inland lakes & rivers for anything.
Thanks for sharing your lovely trip & family
You are very welcome. Loved your comments about your lake!
It is devastating to see the loss of water, absolutely heartbreaking. I lived in Arizona many many years ago and went to lake Powell a few times. I didn’t even recognize it from your video 😢😢. I remember it being so full and beautiful…it was truly full up to the water line on those bone dry rock formations and shore…I almost cried watching this. On a better note, I enjoyed learning Cindy’s tips and tricks for her meal planning…wish I was as organized! Thank you for another lovely video 😊👍
You are very welcome. Thanks for your comments.
This was beautiful to see! Thank you to you and Jim! I’ve lived in Israel, and The Dead Sea has also decreased in depth and area. Very very sad
That makes me sad as well. I have the Dead Sea on my bucket list of places to visit. I hope Gaia recovers soon. 🙏
I visited Israel some years ago and was able to visit the three seas: Dead, Med, and Red!
Really fun & interesting! thanks.
What a wonderful trip and Cindy and John are amazing. The water situation is tragic, and I pray that this year there is an abundance of water to fill in the lakes and sustain the states and people affected. It was very interesting to hear about the houseboat shares set-up. It looked like you all had delicious meals that you would not think of as easy but were. Cindy is so fun to watch, just like you are, and I learn so much from both of you. I always also love hearing about the rock formations and scenery. Thank you for sharing another way to have an adventure and fill our bellies well on the trail. 💕💕💕💕
You are very welcome. So glad you enjoyed it.
Holy cow the water level is so low. When we moved from Kanab 5 years ago it wasn't that low. And no water around Lone Rock at all!😯 Here's hoping the water level rises soon.
We are all hoping that. Thank you.
I'd love to see the wagon/cart John and Cindy are using. Always looking for an easier way to tote stuff around.
They are the ones you saw in the video. They belong to the marina and are free for all to use.
I think John is hiding his true personality. But your sister, Cindy, seems to be a free spirit.
Love the teasing about over packing. I tend to do that too. I never want to be caught short or need something I don't have. Besides I may decide to extend my trips timeline.
LOL! Thank you!
Wow, I didn’t know that seven states were in a legal battle. That’s crazy. I had just visited Bryce and Zion from Las Vegas. It was such a wonderful trip. My husband is a design build architect, and at least the next five homebuilders conferences will be in Las Vegas. So I am very excited. Also, it is always during our anniversary week. So we take our anniversary day and do a day trip. Next year we are doing the Grand Canyon and Hoover dam. I did schedule a California trip but it got canceled. So next year I will go to California on my own.
How fun! Hope you get to enjoy lots of the beautiful scenery in this part of the country.
So scary to see how much water loss. Fingers crossed for more
Thank you. Our fingers are crossed as well.
Road Trip! 😃
I'm loving this channel! Thank you for sharing your travel adventures along with the tie to your preparedness priorities.
So glad to hear that! Thank you.
Yum! Great meal Cindy. I’d love a weekend out there. We’ve been thinking about taking the RV up there.
You should, Mary. It is beautiful now but it gets really hot by June.
My parents had a large house boat when I was a teenager back in 60’ and 70’s here in Georgia. So many wonderful memories. Really enjoyed your video.❤️
So glad you enjoyed it. Thanks.
Bierocks are wonderful. I’ve made them several times and yes, they are German.
We are loving them!
The intro of Trail Grazers is exceptional. I always enjoy it.
So glad to hear that. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing this. What a fun time you must have had.
Yes, it was a great trip.
Thank you for the wonderful video! We are in Florida and only hear a little about it.
You are welcome. Glad you enjoyed it.
🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
Thank-you for taking the time to do this.. Amazing to see your area.. Food prep just great.. From a chefs perspective, simple is best.. Good to see ever-one.. Kindness ever-ones way Lochness Scottish Highlands..
Thank you, Neil. Good to hear from you.
I loved this episode. I am from the south and when we travel west I have always wanted to visit Lake Powell. We travel with our 5th wheel. Cindy’s food presentation is so applicable to me as an RVer. I’m always looking for new food ideas to help keep it simple but good!
Glad you found it useful.
WoW, what a fantastic time you two must have had on Lake Powell!!! Love that Cindy & John have a standard that they must leave the house boat or be charged!!! They were very lucky to get into one of six for their houseboat!! Food looks SO great!!!
Yes, they have had a great influence on the owners' group and made lots of good improvements.
You and your sister are absolutely delightful, Pam! Did your parents/grandparents teach you all these homemaking and food skills?
Yes, our Mother taught us well and set a wonderful example for us all her life.
Fun trip!
Yes, it really was.
Great video. It’s always such a joy when you and Cindy are together, I love the giggles. Thanks so much Jim and Pam 🇨🇦🌷
More to come. We are taking our trailers up to Bryce Canyon together in a few weeks.
Love seeing you and your sister, you are so fun together
Thank you. More to come--we are going on a trailer trip together soon!
so wonderful to see you and Cindy again we can see the love and Companionship between both of you
Thank you.
That was a very cool video!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Great thinking! Btw Brioche is pronounced Bree osh… long o.
Thank you.
Very nice! Thank you for sharing.
You are very welcome.
You two sisters are so cute together! You also look so much alike. Have fun!
thank you. We always have fun together. And we are grateful that our husbands get along as well so we can be together and enjoy each other.
great video.. thanks..
You are very welcome.
How sad to see the loss of water but gosh I just LOVE you going on these trips to show me your country!! I did go to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon and saw Hoover Dam from the plane. I always said I wanted to go back and do the tour of the dam and spend time in the beautiful turquoise coloured water sitting in terracotta coloured rocks. So stunning. That was in 1998 and I have never managed to get back there (is a very long way from NZ lol !) Thank goodness John and Cindy bought a houseboat share rather than a waterfront house share!!!! Sometimes it is good to be in the middle/lower tax bracket because at least they are STILL WATERFRONT despite the diminished lake levels! :) xxx
Thanks for your comment. I hope to visit your beautiful country someday!
beautiful places and beautiful roads, I am east coast canada our roads look like we are a 3rd world country not kidding.
Sorry to hear that. We live on a dirt road and our house is always full of dust!
It breaks my heart to see the water loss in your beautiful southwest. I believe there has been terrible, terrible mismanagement of a precious resource going back many, many years. From Big Agriculture growing water hogging crops, to people moving from water rich areas and not being made to modify their behavior. There are too many lawns and swimming pools. It must make you crazy! (I won’t even mention how Glen Canyon dam should never have been built!) Sorry! Sorry! Probably too controversial!
It has always been controversial. I mourn the loss of the beautiful scenery that was lost while at the same time have really enjoyed the recreational opportunities. Going forward I hope the water management will be much improved.
How lovely to have the family get together on such a wonderful houseboat setting 💝
The geoengineering is just criminal & the destruction of God's creation just breaks my heart 😢
There are so few wild places left in the world and we need to protect them!
We were vacationing a few years ago and took a boat tour to the Rainbow Bridge, it was beautiful. So very very sad that the lake is starting to dry up~
Hopefully we will get a good influx of water this runoff season!
Wow how sadly low since we were there in the late 90s! It's so beautiful but miss the water too.
The water is greatly missed for both agriculture and recreation. Hopefully it will come up at least some this year with the winter we had.
Bierox
I haven't seen it spelled that way.
Why in the world would there be an "emergency release" to clear sediment from the Colorado when the lake level is still so low? The manipulation of water in the West is a subject I've long been studying for nearly 30 years, promoted by Arundati Roy's seminal work "Water Wars". Farmers and ranchers have been screaming about this for issue and are credible sources of damning data. Thank God our prayers have been answered and the abundance cannot be ignored. Now we focus on who is doing the "managing". ❤
One of my sons is a high level water rights attorney in DC. You should hear him talk about water issues in the West! Most of his work is in the West which begs the question why does he stay in DC thus keeping my grandchildren so far away from me!!! LOL!
@@trailgrazers3690 Oh wow...would love his take on all this. Keep up the great videos, Pam!
NO SOUND, on the first part.
I turned sound way up to hear 1st part.
Thanks for letting us know
