'Zen' is the debut single from BUDDERSIDE upcoming album, Spiritual Violence (pre-order: smarturl.it/sp..., which is set for release via Silver Lining Music/Motörhead Music on March 26th 2021.
“We went all the way to Tokyo, Japan to bring an authentic experience to our fans” explains founding member Patrick Stone. “When I think of ‘Zen’, I imagine monks, bonsai trees, waterfalls, and temples. The idea of going there was intoxicating.”
“While the song was actually written in a complete state of zen, it reaches out to those who are unable to find it” furthers Stone. “Our demons that chase us are always in the way… We must find a way to escape them to find inner peace. 'Zen' finds us being seduced by desire and lured into a den of evil, where from there is no escape. The nightmare of Kuchisake-onna, Kappa, Rokurokubi and Gashadokuro come to life before your very eyes”.
The album, recorded with legendary Grammy Award-nominated producer Jay Baumgardner (Bush, Godsmack, Papa Roach) and mastered by Grammy Award-winning engineer Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage), is a 10-track inferno showcasing the band’s reinvigorated new line-up with blaring riffs, crushing blast beats and catchy vocal melodies geared to set listeners into a frenzy across the globe.
Additional singles feature guests including vocalist Carla Harvey (Butcher Babies) on the seductive ‘Amber Alert’, and guitarist Phil Campbell (Motörhead) on the Lemmy-inspired track ‘Pardon Me’.
Signed to Motörhead Music personally by its founder, the late Motörhead front man Lemmy Kilmister, who previously employed BUDDERSIDE front man Patrick Alan Stone as a roadie, the band released their self-titled debut album in 2016 and hit the ground running appearing on tours alongside Motörhead, Slayer, Anthrax and L.A. Guns as well as being featured on international festivals including Wacken Open Air, Motörboat, Malmö Festival and the Monsters Of Rock cruise.

these seem to be obake/お化け/things that change and yokai/妖怪/fairy monsters/mythical beasts. The woman with a mask asks if you think she's beautiful. if you say yes, she takes off her mask revealing a Keith Ledger Joker-esque scar on her mouth and asks you again, if you still think she's beautiful, no matter your answer she stabs you with scissors. it's a way for a jelly girlfriend or yandere／ヤンデレ to keep her man from from leaving her by talking to hot women.
