    I own two of these guitars. Fantastic for the price point. I won't point fingers but please disregard the misguided comments about the guitar being laminate? This guitar is clearly marketed as a 335 type guitar and such, it follows a lot of the same appointments and construction as the Gibson including, a bound neck, laminate top and solid center block. I understand the obsession with wood as I'm an acoustic player and own very high end Martin guitars as well as a 125 year old Brazilian rosewood parlor guitar. The Eastman compares favorably to the Gibson or even a Heritage in my opinion, due to the recipe being quite similar. As with a lot of Chinese made instruments, a few corners have been cut when it comes to pickups an electronics. My guitars have been re-wired to a 50's style with CTS pots with vintage pushback cloth and have I have changed pick-ups. This can be a costly or frustrating endeavor on a semi hollow since the parts need to be installed through the F-hole. This is a very well made guitar with a very thin nitro finish to boot...yes I did say nitro! Play ON!

    Sounds sweet and they feel great in the hands. Mr. Condon should look up the word 'opaque'. May be was just nervous and probably meant translucent or even transparent.

      It should be “maybe not may be. So much for your criticism of Mr. Condon and my the way opaque is used correctly here.

      Mario Cuppetelli My the way? Looks transparent to me. If it were opaque the grain of the wood would not show through.

      +Julie Nielsen Haha, classic.

      +Julie Nielsen Their is NO REAL GRAIN to the wood. It is laminate, if you see gran your looking at a veneer applied to the plywood. Don't fool yourself. Only REAL wood has grain unless you add something to look like it

    • @julienielsen3746
      @julienielsen3746 8 лет назад +2

      Isn't laminate just this slices of wood laminated onto plywood? So it still has the grain pattern, just not all the way through.

    It is more correct to say Translucent. Opac means you cannot see thru it .

    All laminate means that the body has no real wood in it except for the center box, the rest is basically plywood. Nice features but real wood makes a HUGE difference, especially to Tone. In comparison Reverend guitars use solid Korina and the top piece on their semi-hollows is Solid Spruce and The Tone is AMAZING!

      Who cares? The damn thing is hooked up to an amp that shifts tone anyway.

      +Steve G Laminate...just like the Gibson 335 has been for decades. Depends what you're looking at. Gibson 335-ish tones= laminated, just like the original legendary 335. Eastman also has the T184 same style of guitar but solid woods. Different tones...not better tones. Depends on what you want.

    • @Bflatest
      @Bflatest 6 лет назад

      the only time wood makes tone is on a real acoustic where the top vibrates. I saw a guy record a lespaul and then recorded a plywood guitar with lespaul electronics and guess what NO DIFFERENT AT ALL

      @kingstumble 6 лет назад +4

      Steve G Virtually all semi hollow guitar like this are laminate including Gibson,Guild, Gretsch etc. Reverend guitars use a completely different construction. It does not improve the tone at all.

    Bought a 386. Very happy for one day. Neck pickup stopped working on day two. Local store in Virginia was great, they looked at fixing but determined it should be sent back to Eastman in California. Five weeks later and Eastman still has the guitar. Terrible customer service in my opinion. Maybe my experience is out of norm but Tom from Charlottesville can’t recommend the guitar. Ugh.
