The French-American Camille Rowe is an actress and model, who's walked for Victoria's Secret & done covers for magazines like Glamour & Elle. Her outfits of the week showcase her 1970s aesthetic while infusing classic French brands like Dior, Roger Vivier, Hermes & Celine. But at the same time, she infuses lots of vintage into her wardrobe like a darling white Valentino gown while also bringing in pieces from brands heavy on upcycling like Bode. She references iconic designers like Yves Saint Laurent, with her own take on his classic "Le Smoking Suit" while also channeling one of YSL's successors Hedi Slimane. It was a lovely experience getting to see someone so high profile casually talk about her secondhand shopping, and unique pieces, which will only help further the notion that vintage is cool!

I think it's less just "french girl" style but more so how she knows where everything her wardrobe is from, and you get a sense that she really values and treasures each piece

Purposeful styling is something that isn’t forced, she knows how to dress for her frame and buying a few high quality pieces and mixing them with basics like Levi’s or white Tee’s is pretty much a good way to give yourself a chance to experiment with high fashion in a way that isn’t intimidating.

yeah that's exactly it! it really seems like she's got herself figured out, so there's no need to express herself exclusively with trends or brands, and if she does- she fits them into the bigger picture, which just seems to be her individual, unique style
The smartest thing I ever learned about fashion, I learned from a millionaire. She never wore things over like $50, and she’d say things like (joking- she wasn’t a jerk lol) “Well, I have a $2000 bag on my shoulder so if it’s someone who cares enough to notice, they’re gonna assume all my clothes are that expensive anyway.”
Literally if you wear obviously designer shoes, people think you’re entire outfit is designer (even if it’s from target). You only need a few pieces of expensive things to mix with basics. Not that you’re trying to make people think your clothes are expensive LOL but I mean if you’re the kind of person who cares but DOESNT have money to do full designer, or even if you do lol, you can do this trick hha. It really is true.
I also saw a super rich lady say in an interview she only wears fake jewelry and she said the same thing when asked why, “because everyone assumes they’re real”.

I do that every time I put on jeans, I don't know why, it's like if you do that they mold better to the body and position themselves where they should. Also they stretch a bit, which makers them more comfortable to wear, specially if they are a thicker denim.

Her outfit at 23:00 looks a lot like my country’s (Algeria) traditional outfit, i mean the cape only, women wear it at weddings, i wish they would mention it, it looks like a mix between a Karakou and a Bournous, french brands probably were inspired by it in the 60’s/70’s, since we were colonized by them, i’m not sure tho, but I have seen french brands using it and not mention the origin/inspiration :/

When she plays a character she does a fully American accent but it’s probably easier for her in common life to speak with her natural accent
the videos she does focusing on her "french style" are where the french accent comes out more probably because the producers of the video tell her to accentuate her french side and maybe its more natual for her to speak that way... when shes acting as an american she obviously forces a more american accent
English is not my first language and I personally used to have a North American accent from consuming a lot of US media but in the recent years I made an effort to change it back because I didn't want to be mistaken for an US-American :)

As a french person I will say that the reason we wear sneakers a lot is because we walk a lot, I've been to Paris only twice but everytime it's walking and walking around the city. Even where I live you walk so much. The only time people take their cars is to travel long distances or to go shopping. In school everyone wears sneakers although some times I go for a chunky heel because we travel by foot so much.

Yea its a bit hard for me to understand since its a very common fashion style here (not French but im South European). But it seems to be a sort of minimalist, simple, elegant and a bit preppy, but still casual. Maybe Its more unique in America?

It's hard to explain, but there's something that makes it very distinguishable. I'm from Spain, but I have friends who live in France and I could see how their style became more influenced by French fashion. I think every region/country has a way of styling that, if you pay enough attention, you can perceive. Even if they're following trends and doing fashiony stuff.

I love loafers because they are flat, cushy, and (most importantly) I can put my custom shoe inserts in them without them showing. Having minor scoliosis makes comfort from the waist down REALLY important.

I’m confused about her accent. In old videos she speaks English in a perfect American accent, but now that the “French-girl” vibe has become popular it seems she is putting on more of a French accent...

It comes and goes with accents. I used to speak almost without an accent but my crispy finnish accent has come back with full force and I hate itttttt
As a bilingual person I can attest it does happen. English is my second language and I live in the UK so over the last 6 years my accent has changed from sort of of American to sort of British, however after I come back from a longer stay in my home country my accent makes a u-turn as well and I have slip ups of Slavic accent as well.

where do you get this from? her accent might just change because she's been in france and haven't been speaking english for a while. as a biligual person, it happens all the time. and her accent might sound "fake" because she mixes the languages a lot.
Side note- Almost Famous is a fabulous film. Penny Lane is the character played by Kate Hudson and is simply iconic. LOVE Camille Rowe's channelling of the late 60s to early 70s aesthetics. @@angelikacavalcanti1486 English is her first language, her mother is American and she grew up in the States, she speaks English with no hint of another accent in many videos, but in the ones where she presents herself as a French it girl her accent is suddenly very French, and a very fake one at that, it's not the consequences of bilingualism, I'm bilingual too and understand what you're saying but this model has been playing up the French it girl image for the past few years and it's painfully obvious to hear the difference between normal videos of her and her French it girl videos, it's an idealised (but unrealistic) image of what French women are that American audiences eat up, which is why she does it, no need for you to get so defensive about it

It was just a simple comment about how she forces the French accent in videos and you're the one who got all worked up about it talking about her ex, which I didn't even bring up because this video is about her and neither should you, I don't hate this woman, but you shouldn't be so defensive about her either, I'm allowed to criticise her accent because as someone who's fluent in French I can identify that her accent is mostly fake and forced, and I love her videos but it's annoying that she forces the accent, a lot of models who try to sell the French it girl do it and to people who actually know French it's just disingenuous (by the way American accent is an accent too, if you're basing your entire argument on the lyrics of a song), other times she's talked about how she grew up in california and has a valley girl accent, English is as much of native language to her as French is, or even more because it's where she's been raised, also, she's not going to go up to the camera and say "oh yeah I speak English perfectly I just fake the accent to sound more mysterious" like how naive are you?? faking a French accent is a trick that models have been using for decades because Americans think everything sounds nicer in French, open your damn eyes and stop going so hard for some rich girlie you don't even know
