She was trying to make a "Barbie" moment happen but she didn't seem to grasp that this movie is not about candies and butterflies, it's about domestic violence. Promoting it as a rom-com is so tone deaf it's insane.
Also… I think if she was more compelling and had done some media training (and took it on) she could have dressed like this and it wouldn’t have read so poorly. Like just look however you want and say the right and non problematic things.
She wanted to launch herself as a mogul and this was absolutely the wrong movie to do that with - saying buy my alcohol and hair care products while watching a DV movie is a bad look
the fact she didn't even try to bullshit the floral method dressing by saying "oh well, flowers bloom after darkest of times, winter into spring, a cold relationship into the warm embrace of freedom" etc etc. like... not even an attempt to try to pull it into a theme... like, i just did it for you blake, c'mon.
i also wanted to add, while it's not fashion, flowers and abuse have gone hand in hand for some cases. there was a professional japanese wrestler who passed away due to self harm over bullying, her name is hana, meaning flower in japanese and every year on her anniversary, the tag #flowersforhana is used. flowers bring people hope and and comfort, and blake couldn't even try that...
So crazy that she was offended by the journalist asking about the clothes in a period drama that was nominated for the costumes, but for this movie when asked about DV deflects to her clothes, her hair care line, and her booze
Totally! In one interview now for film she talks about how a movie’s costume makes her understand the character as opposed to when the mean girls treated interviewer asked her how it felt to wear the costumes in Woody Allen movie, and Lively said, why don’t they ask Men these questions
I mean, she method dressed for Challengers too, which had no actual fantasy element to it - it did however have a certain… flair you could play up, which in that case was a tennis theme. At the end of the day, you just gotta have a feel for when it’s appropriate. And yeah, a stylist may generally help with that.
@@replikkantyeah I think it's as Haute said; if it has a serious tone, you really need to think about how you decide to "method style"; Challengers wasn't a serious movie, it's literally the "horny tennis polyamory camp movie"
Also it helps that Zendaya looks like a supermodel. She just has that high fashion element to her physicality. Blake looks like an everyday person, which of course there's nothing wrong with that. But Zendaya is striking.
The thing is, Blake Lively could have easily gotten away with the florals by saying: "I'm wearing florals as a symbol of hope for DV victims, so they know there's always hope to break the cycle of violence, now let me raise awareness about how you can help, etc. etc." It really seems like she didn't even try.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen her act. I was too old for Gossip Girl. After seeing some of these interviews I will be actively avoiding them. I’ve dealt with mean girls/women all my life and I’m not giving them a platform.
And having a cocktail named after the abuser in the movie at a premiere party (Ryle you wait, there's even a pun in it, how fun !) ... Does she even care about the subject of the movie ?
She also speaks about how she doesn't drink, but then has a booze company. I think she saw how her husband made so much on his and was like oh yeah I want someone of that.
@@Hufflebear ryan reynolds gets praised with every step he takes, she is trying really hard to be like him and promote the fact that that she is his wife and just as amazing.
Wearing a Britney Spears dress to a movie about abuse is horrendous & you're the first person who's mentioned it. It was the first thing that caught my attention!
Britney is not even out of her terrible situation and still so vulnerable and I am beyond disgusted Blake wore her dress. This is not ignorance this is making fun of victims
Yeah, pretty tasteless to harken back to a period where Brittany was in the thick of abuse. Maybe find a dress from a survivor that they wore when they finally found freedom?!
Yeah like wearing the dresses of famous survivors of abuse or clothing from designers who’ve survived abuse could be empowering if done right, like bringing attention to the strength and resiliency of these women and how they overcame their abuse, but Britney is still in a bad situation and she’s the only one she did this with so it just comes off as tone deaf.
Listen if you took the actors promotion as the only preview to the movie when the fucking trailer tells you exactly what it's about down to the song they used in it then that's a user failure on your part. Don't blame her for you lack of critical thinking and research before seeing a movie or skimming a review of the book beforehand.
@@Sarahpier7092the trailer absolutely does not make it clear. Blake has used the promo trail to promote her alcohol brand (with a cocktail named after her abuser in the movie!) and her hair care brand. It’s gross. If she doesn’t want to talk about DV then she had no business being in the movie. Why are fighting so hard to defend this woman? Weirdo.
Imagine "wearing your florals" with your mom and sisters then watching domestic violence on screen. This promotion is crazy. Ain't nobody "researching" a movie wtf are people talking about people go to movies for fun and hang out it's not school??
well if you were to watch the movie (it's not good so idk) the dv element is meant to be a sort of shocking reveal so that's probably why it wasn't promoted bc its the movies twist
@@catbear305 I think that is for those who didn't read the book. Avid readers and fans of the book knew exactly what was going to happen and the serious content of the book. Blake very clearly tried to replicate Margot’s Barbie fashion moments. But she didn’t realize how much time, effort, research and care Margot and her team put in to make that happen. Blake just wore florals and thought it would have the same impact

i do not think she has a style at all, i just see it as a person wearing branded clothing and calling the design of the dresses “her style”. plus, the way she brags abt how she dresses lily bloom is from her closet when it doesn’t even make any sense for a “struggling florist” to wear such expensive clothing 💀
In the interviews I've seen, she talked incessantly about the clothes she wore in the movie, yet was insufferable rude to an interviewer a few years ago who asked about the clothes from the film she was promoting, which was a period film (early 1900's, I believe). It doesn't make sense for a struggling florist to wear expensive clothing, like the Laboutin shoes she wears in the film. One of my common complaints with films is when the characters are living so far above their means. Living in apartments or even homes they'd never be able to afford, filled with furnishings they could never afford; wearing, not just expensive wardrobes, but never wearing the same outfit twice even though the film covers weeks or months of time; eating out all the time; shopping all the time; going on vacations they wouldn't be able to afford; etc., etc. Sometimes, it's so egregious that it pulls me right out of the movie, I can't watch it without constantly noticing every little thing that doesn't make sense given what their income would be.
It honestly reminds me of those rich LA housewives who get their husbands to buy them a career in art, music, fashion, etc. and then go around like "Wow guess I'm an effortless creative genius, you're welcome". Just actively choosing to indulge in the delusional belief that being able to buy a lot of expensive shit that most people can't afford equates to having good taste or talent.
Her promoting her alcohol line was the craziest thing she did for a dv movie…. like how did no one tell her no?? the hair care was whatever in comparison
This was a problematic book by a problematic author. The movie was never going to end well. Top that off with Blake:s lack of originality and its a disaster. She's not Margot, and this movie isn't Barbie. I won't even factor in the "mean girl" issues that have arisen.
The movie could have been salvaged. Blake seems to share Colleen’s vision of the romance being the key whereas the screenwriter and director seem to be driving at a dramatic movie with a twist.
@@pam8056Yes, let’s make a colouring book about PEOPLE GETTING KILLED IN RELATIONSHIPS.. what a terrible woman.. Did the author experience DV? It doesn’t look like it..
@@GabrielGoodsit was based off her mother, so she grew up in a home with DV and should be very sensitive to it - but the nail polish with one color being the name of the abuser eek 😬 what was she thinking!?
Blake mistake is to think the Serena van der Woodsen's succes as a fashion icon is because of HER as an individual and not the result of very hard work of a team of real and profesional stylists and costume desginers. Sad.
The fact she spent the whole promotional campaign talking about florals instead of raising awareness about domestic violence speaks volumes. Does she even know in which film is she?
I didn't realise that there were 2 cuts of the film. Justin Baldoni's cut focusses on the DV, while Blake's cut turns it into a rom-com. Despite being the director, Justin was given a lot of pushback from Blake about how the film should be directed. When shown the 2 cuts of the film, test audiences preferred Justin's cut, and that is the cut that's being shown in theatres. But, as producer, Blake has had a big say in how the film is promoted, and she's chosen to focus on the most superficial aspect of the film, and has really tried to push the floral thing. I get designers and retail companies wanting to use the Barbie pink in their clothing and products, or do cross promotion with the movie. But, why the heck would they want to do that with a film about DV? Why would I want to wear a style inspired by a film about DV. I had my own experience with DV. My overriding memories of that time aren't what clothes I was wearing. To answer your (rhetorical) question. She knows what film she wants to be in, and it's her cut. And it seems like she's doing publicity for that cut in preparation for when she's able to release it, probably on a streaming service at some point. During the publicity tour, Blake has distanced herself from Justin, and they've been touring separately. Her and some of her sycophants have been trying to subtly hint that he was problematic on set, when there's absolutely no proof of that, or any stories from the time of the filming, or from the crew. Some people did say it was uncomfortable because of the tension between them, but didn't say he did anything inappropriate. Blake did say that he made her uncomfortable during a missing scene, but she appointed herself the Intimacy Coordinator on the film. So, it was literally her job to deal with that issue at the time, not talk about it after the fact as if he'd done something wrong. She just wildly overstepped by being the producer, having her husband rewrite a scene from the script, hiring a director who didn't agree with her vision for the film, acting as Intimacy Coordinator, and recutting the director's film. She was making big mistakes long before the publicity tour for the film. And the word is that she's going to direct the sequel. I assume she's also going to recast Justin's role, since I can't see him wanting to work with her on it anyway.
9:39 that is very true, Barbie’s over all subject was very serious (the hardships of being a woman). But the worst that happened to Barbie was her dream house turning into a Mojo Dojo Casa House. The worse thing to happen to Blake’s character was getting thrown down the stairs by her husband. Not. The. Same. Thing.
Blake’s using the movie to market her alcohol business is terrible. Using and quoting from the movie as names for the alcohol. She’s missed the seriousness of this film.
It's even worse when you learn that in the book, the domestic abuse is often tied with the male character DRINKING. And then she named a DRINK AFTER HIM
Its ironic that Blake ALSO used Britney. Instead of talking about an icon who was mistreated in our faces for 13 years, Blake used Britney’s name and clothes to better herself.
@@Mavisdundundunnnmanston but that makes no sense why would an ACTOR want to wear their own clothes, wouldn't that psychologically make them be themselves when they should be playing a CHARACTER. yes actors take inspiration from their own personal experiences, and parts of their personality can bleach into a role but that is for serious people who do their profession with integrity and know where to draw the line. she seems to be using acting as a display of her vanity, extension of her own persona with this whole LOOK AT HOW FAB I AM, which is antithesis to acting not to mention dishonest and unprofessional.
She was trying so hard to make her movie into Barbie V2, asking people to go see the movie in florals because people went to see Barbie in pink. She really can't read the room. Barbie's vibe was mostly lighthearted, very "baby's first feminist movie" in a good way, It ends with Us' main theme is DV... And then her and Ryan tried to make Barbenheimer V2 happen with Deadpool & Wolverine... Stop trying to make it happen, it's never gonna happen, babes. There were too many faux-pas during the whole marketing period anyway. And yeah, just wearing florals because your main character is a florist isn't going to impress anybody.
this little added context that she doesnt have a stylist and it was literally 100% her choice to dress like THIS for a movie about dv… is crazy. just crazy
The crazy thing is that flowers have been used to convey discreet messages by women for hundreds of years, specifically in times where it was unsafe to share their feelings openly. The most famous example of this in popular culture is Ophelia's use of flowers in Hamlet; where after she's been tormented and emotionally abused by her lover, she passes out flowers representing her opinions and desires on love, sex, and court. As LitCharts puts it, "Ophelia’s flowers, then, symbolize her many-faceted personality and desires, which have been stripped, squashed, and corrupted by society’s expectations." Blake really missed out on the opportunity to incorporate this aspect into her method dressing.
Sooo true! Also, every painting ever depicting Ophelia drowned surrounded by flowers cut in the prime of their beauty, flowering blossoms cut too soon and left to wilt and die in silent tragedy just like so many women and girls through out history - GOD THERE IS SOO MUCH ARTISTIC HISTORY IN THE SYMBOLISM AND LANGUAGE OF FLOWERS THAT COULD HAVE BEEN UTILIZED. AAAAGH - THIS IS WHY WE HAVE PRO STYLISTS BLAKE!
Unfortunately Blake Lively lacks depth. There isn’t much going up in her head. Fashion is just something pretty and fun she gets to do. She doesn’t see fashion as a medium to communicate deeper subjects .
She doesn’t even seem to go too much into depth with fashion either. It seems really obvious in this video, that she just wears nice designer dresses that work as a single piece, but the moment there has to be more than one garment in play it looks weird….
I'd wear them, but very differently. I also have very styled glasses and am a local artist. Most of her looks are "weird artists who got bullied in hs and no longer care," not... her.
I don't blame her for her hair, somehow it seems almost none of those stars with access to professional hair and make-up artist actually use them for nice hair dos. most everyone has just boring beach weaves.
Yes! It's too much: the different patterns and the vibrant colors, the sparkling and the layers... Too extravagant and tiring to look at. Too overdue it lacks classiness.
Wow, I just looked it up and it's insane. Wherever Blake had her fashion/tone faux pas, Isabela is also there looking like Blake's younger sister (kinda matching? but in a less fashionable way)
@angelx9724 Nah, Ryan will be ok. People just feel bad that he's married to someone who seems so shallow. He always seems so sincere in his interviews, even with his sarcasm. He just acts like such a nice guy. At least, that's my opinion.
@@angelx9724 Ryan apparently rewrote a scene in the movie behind the director's back and hired a different editor so that him and Blake could get THEIR version out. They both muscled the director out of his own movie. I'd say he's burning through his own goodwill without Blake's help at this point.
@@roshieifrahe’ll be okay, but lbr. That’s his wife. Would be extremely weird if he isn’t the same way. Imo he ‘gets away with it’ bc he’s charming and funny
I think it could have been done right. But Blake would have to recognise a few things: 1. That DV is bigger than she is, and DV needs to take spotlight, not her. 2. That the subject needs to be approached with intelligence and sensitivity, and maybe they aren’t her strong suit. 3. That she will have to listen to other people. The right team of stylists and PR pros could have prevented this current catastrophe, but I’m sure she just fires or goes above anyone that she disagrees with (hello Justin and her own editors). Also, I bet she has some very talented assistants that are basically doing the job of stylists for 1/4 of the pay and zero credit. If she got a stylist and everyone loved her looks, I bet she wouldn’t be able to stomach the stylist getting credit.
great points, this is exactly how i feel too. She seems to be too self engrossed and wouldn’t be open to any feedback or anyone else’s thoughts. The whole circus around her makes me question what sort of a person Ryan is? I remember his speech when he got the star on hollywood walk of frame and he praised blake for being the best wife and mother and saying a hundred different synonyms to describe her (thats how blake talks), it felt genuine but now that i know who blake is, it seems like a script which he parrots to keep blake happy.
It’s funny how before the book became a movie, NOBODY said anything about it being about DV. When it was just a book everyone was treating it as a “spicy funny love story”. I had no idea it was about DV. I believe it’s so badly written that it’s simply hard to tell what is trying to say at this point.
yes - this. atlas (the "good guy" saviour" to ryle's abuser" is equally creepy and toxic, just less overt than ryle. likewise, the whole reason why the story is called "it ends with us" is because lily blossom bloom (i will forever say the entire name) comes from an abusive background and is breaking the cycle by leaving ryle *for the sake of her kid*; her father's abuse of her mother impacted her to the point that she wound up in a toxic marriage w a man just like him in many regards, so she left to prevent the cycle extending to hers and ryle's daughter. then along comes the epilogue, in which she gives him partial custody (i believe weekends)... literally just negating the whole point of the book being called "it ends with us" - 2 days a week is absolutely enough access for him to grow abusive w their child, especially w how colleen wrote ryle as being a toxic, verbally-abusive person at his best and an extremely quick-to-anger wife beater that drinks and gets worse w alcohol on average. i cannot understate this enough; colleen thinks that "it ends with us" does smn really smart in having ryle seem like a great guy at first, who's only revealed to the audience as being abusive in a plot twist halfway through... she did *not* do that, because he was written as abusive from the very beginning. colleen just doesnt recognise this, because she writes all of her leading male love interests as abusive - 90% of them are rapists who employ physical abuse to control the female protagonists: cheaters, manipulators, narcissists... one cheats on his paralysed wife in front of her and then kills her to raise his kids w the AP (the protagonist), one set the female protagonist's house on fire (trapping her and ruining her career because of her scars), and one keeps his gf bound to their bed so that he can torture her throughout the entire book (a ghost in the main female love interests body - but he didnt know this, he was just torturing his gf because he thought she became "boring" after experiencing a traumatic event and wanted to cheat on her... yes ik). every single one of these dudes is presented as the good guy. w how ryle was written, he would *absolutely* find the time to abuse their daughter in the 2 days a week he has custody. it literally does *NOT* end w us. the book's premise is great, but coho's execution was horrendous. the story is fundamentally-flawed in that it cannot draw the line between "abusive" behaviour and "wattpad abusive" behaviour - even discounting colleen's other works, atlas displays plenty of disgusting, abusive behaviours that are treated as "cute" and "loving" by the narrative. he literally takes her virginity when he was 18 and she was 15 - bro was a whole super senior
@@zaddyfaye6880I agree 100%! Hoover doesn’t know what a healthy male looks like. The abuse won’t end with Lily or her daughter and I found Atlas just as abusive and gross.
I think this is further proof that Blake is probably a very shallow person who absolutely did not deeply relate to the darker subject matter of the film even if she was able to act out the dark scenes. Also her hair care line, her insensitive drink names, screams “doesn’t relate”. Also, she has given the perception that she thinks she’s the it girl, the most beautiful, smartest, best husband, best editor so why would she think she needs a stylist. Egomaniac status achieved.
Well, this IS the woman who insisted she get married at a South Carolina Slave Plantation with the old slave quarters right next to the main house where they set up the reception tables. This is a woman who definitely does not think of nor cares about the deeper stuff at all. Like at all.
She seems to think that she can be just like Ryan and emulate his success... she doesn't have her own sense of self and trying to be her husband just doesn't help.
@@Linda-qp9kp the same characteristics are definitely rewarded or at least more tolerated in Ryan than in Blake. The wake-up call is really harsh if you are a woman used to being an equal to the men. Unfortunately the men in her life won't be able to help her because the aren't subject to the same bias. I hope she has strong women around her through this crucible.
The problem isnt that she didnt know how to represent DV in her method dressing, but the fact that she didnt want to bring up DV at all - not in her interviews, not through her social media posts, etc.
Blake should have just worn the latest fashions that suited her and stop trying to method dress. The movie does not lend itself to fashion, so don't try. Not every one must do that method dressing thing.
I know she did the fashion for the character in the movie too. And yah…. I’m sure a 23 something DV victim in her economic situation is wearing $1000 shirts
Lets be honest, a serious movie addressing DV is beyond this lady. She should have produced some basic rom-com summer flick that would have matched the tone of what she portrays.
She could’ve done method dressing by incorporating the color purple, since it’s a DV awareness color. If she wanted to do florals, purple florals would’ve been killer. Great way to tie in her character with the heavier topic. There just wasn’t much thought behind the outfits other than OOO FLOWERS.
Imagine if she had paid tribute to all the amazing public figures that went through domestic violence through her clothing. Her whole "She's more than just a victim" would've been so perfectly summarized in that
Sounds a bit pretentious tbh. Imagine if people actually did stuff instead of complaining about people they don't know not doing stuff ... That'd be great
At some point, she picked up the idea that arrogance is a sign of being cool, and it reflects in nearly all aspects of how she expresses herself. This includes refusing to work with a stylist, meddling with the direction and screenplay of films, rudely cutting off interviewers, and constantly making everything revolve around her.
It's only cool (or at least more acceptable) if you are a guy. Doesn't transfer to women. Not sure if it's good or bad, but excessive ego is definitely maligned in women where it is tolerated more in men.
the sad thing is that a lot of her star-power comes from her far more famous and in-demand husband. I'm not saying she's a bad actress or that she wouldn't get work if not for her marriage, but rather than her husband's influence will make more things possible for her.
@benzaiten933 I'm not a fan but it's unfair and untrue to claim that she's famous because of her husband. Her fame comes from her own work in a number of extremely well received shows and films. Her audience is different from her husband's but it's not any less substantial.
@@writerchick94She is only famous because of Ryan and we all know it. If not for him she would have been forgotten like the rest of the cast of Gossip Girl.
I think it's a shame she didn't utilise the darkness of the story and bring more attention to the subject of violence towards women. She could have worn something from McQueen's Highland R*pe collection or Robert Wuns bejewelled blood bride, she could even have worn something chainmail from Paco Rabane for 'strength'. So many opportunities from where designers have strived to make women look and feel strong in the face of adversity and crimes against them.
I was thinking about Robert Wun bllod bride look too, he had a couple of styles which depicted blood stains. I understand that Blake probably doesn't have any experience with DV, because Ryan Reynolds seems to be stand out champ, but there is shallow and there is tone deaf, she is the later. Also I've seen a comment, who recommended to wear purple as the color for DV. That would have been better too.
@@vivienkoles1880 I think she or her management were probably so scared of the 'dark side' of the method dressing being misunderstood or perceived as her fetishizing it they went to opposite way and ignored it which is just as bad if not worse. The McQueen collection got dragged in the media for it at the time because people didn't know or understand Lee's experience with DV. He always dressed women to feel powerful, it's the DNA of his brand. I think some of the Robert Wun looks are actually meant to be red wine but they're open to interpretation, e.g. claret is slang for blood in the UK. Like I said, even if she'd done a Paco Rabanne chainmail look to showcase the strength of women and using fashion as protection it would have been better than what she did.
Tbh I feel like both examples are great statements and art pieces but actually wearing irl and matching them to the theme might feel like a costume and "trying to make it about fashion".
It's based on a book - and all the books of this authoress are like this. Woman who is not exactly stable gets in relationship with the perfect man who turns out to be abusive. In many cases she stays because the sex is good or because she sees something "good" in him, effectively romantisizing toxic relationships. It's this author's thing.
And on top of that, Hoover always tags the books as romance. Not even dark romance, but romance. It Ends With Us is also tagged as romance, which she continues to be criticized for, but she still continues to do it. So, though I am disappointed by Blake Lively's behavior throughout this press, I'm not that surprised because even seeing the behavior of the rest of the cast as well (other than Justin), it is clear that the theme of DV in the movie is not given the weight it should be just like with the book itself.
@@moarmy2122 I mean ... There is a romance in this book that is not dark at all, ie the relationship with Atlas so I get it. Also I would argue that making the relationship with ryle a romance is not a bad choice either because well, a lot of abusive relationship started up as just that, relationships. Also, tagging it as dark romance might be a bad move because usually the dark romance audience is more like ... "i want to indulge in a toxic relationship" kinda bdsm way, which is super tone deaf in my opinion when you seriously want to depict DV. So, no, Hoover is not a perfect author but at least she didn't do something that tacky.
Atlas and Lily met when he was a homeless 18 year old abandoned by his mom who chose his violent step father over him. She was underage and watching her mother get beat up by her dad. They're two kids who bonded over their shared trauma. When they meet again she was suffering from domestic violence.
Blake took the authors inappropriate tone and ran with it when opening weekend she had a cocktail pop up promoting her liquor brand and called one of the floral flirty drinks "Ryled up" 🙃
@@dorothywasrighttho5129 I understand the point you're making about the romance with Atlas, but that's definitely not the focus of the book, or even the movie. And having her relationship with Ryle be of a romantic nature initially is also a very valid choice because of how accurate it is to how many cases of DV play out. It Ends With Us is not intentionally trying to be a dark romance, but it has a severe issue where Hoover definitely empathises with the Ryle character (probably because he's supposed to be the equivalent of her actual father) to the point that many people didn't understand the point of the book, and continued to support the character and were upset that they split up afterwards. And though It Ends With Us is at least one where the abusive behaviour is acknowledged and the female protagonist chooses to leave the abuser in the end, Hoover has definitely had the issue of romanticising and glorifying actual abusive behaviour in her other books, and she has continued to tag those as romance as well. I know of way too many people who started reading the book not knowing the subject matters it would deal with, which is potentially very triggering; and now, I'm started to hear the same thing is happening in the case of the movie as well
The said thing is that she could of done method dressing with layers to great effect. Like a flowered coat hiding a black dress or flowered dresses that were slashed in strategic places. That would have been a cool interpretation of the story
The fashion could’ve been so smart and brought awareness to DV victims. The Britney dress was a good example of bringing up her story and it would’ve been powerful to find other looks worn by victims to get people talking about their stories.
It doesn’t even have to be complicated. Just wear the DV awareness ribbon pin. Or wear one of those plastic bracelets from a non-profit that deals with DV. You don’t need to have a degree in fashion history to wear a simple bracelet with a helpline printed on it.
the fashion could have changed to show you how the abuse was affecting her. i haven't seen the movie, but it seems obvious - fashion choices are vibrant and flower-y when she's happy and then darker/simpler when she's on the relationship
why not try a different approach for a change: leave the method-styles to movies that are generelly fun like "challengers" but promote a movie with a seriuos topic like "IEWU" by giving great thoughtful interviews/press tours including intelligent actors who have something worthwhile to say about the topic of the movie?
The thing I don't understand is that Blake didn't become known for her style, she became known for playing Serena van der Woodsen and that characters style was completely curated by costume designer Eric Daman. I think this video and seeing all the press tour looks together also begs the question of does this look good or is she just skinny and blonde?
I think she decided that she is a fashion girl because of that character and assumed she could replicate that on her own. I have always gotten the sense that she is trying to be a fashion icon but she just isn't imo
I like her cluttered, bright, eclectic, clashing prints. Her styling works - for her personal style, not professionally. She should be a producer instead of an actor if she wants that creative control.
This! She thinks the Serena van der Woodsen's succes as a fashion icon is because of HER as an individual and not the result of very hard work of a team of real and profesional stylists and costume desginers. Sad.
Great analysis Luke! Method dressing only works when well thought out. Blake trying to be the producer, director, lead actress, small business owner, marketing director - she made this about her and not the movie. The focus of the movie got lost which made the promotion even more muddled. What a stinking mess which cements my desire to leave this film unseen.
14:28 amen. method dressing may not have been a good idea at all. And promoting your own products…is as tacky as most of the clothes she wears. The movie made a lot of money anyway so I guess the marketing worked unfortunately at the expense of an important issue. But money!!!!
And HELL NO it’s not appropriate to market your hair are products or drink line or anything materialistic in a movie promotion where DV is the topic… freakin clueless.
If she was method dressing she missed the mark. My experience with DV victims is they dress low-key. They struggle with self worth and cover themselves to hide physical, emotional and internal scars. They avoid flashy and sexy because it tends to be a trigger. So maybe a more conservative look in solid drab or neutral colors? It still could have been designer clothes.
I think the feeling of I need to be "The director, producer, stylist, editor" is bad ego. The energy on a film set to feel you always know what's best only is insane....Blake needs a wake up call.
One idea is a rot covered by flowers kind of theme. Keep the florals but add a darker element peaking out from behind them. A dark, mottled purple dress with bright, colourful applique flowers. Using flowers to hide bruises. Britney's dress would actually still fit this theme.
Blake could have used this opportunity to bring to the attention how a lot of dv survivours use fashion/makeup as not only hiding the bruises and marks but also as a sheild to make them look strong and in control on the outside, no matter how weak and fragile they might feel on the inside. Its a shame coz i genuinely think had she done that and then asked the ppl to wear florals and all they seriously would have done that. It seems a lot of her problems would resolve if she just appoints a professional like a stylist, a PR trainner, etc who would help bring her vision to life in a better manner, instead of her doing everything by herself in a mediocre half hearted way
Exactly. Your plan & approach is already a million times better than hers. I say that as someone who was born into DV. I would’ve loved to see a movement like that. It would’ve been such a healing thing for so many of us. More importantly, it would’ve signaled to women & kids who are still stuck in violent hell that there are lots of us out here who would will support them. At best, Blake lively is the youngest, spoiled kid in a showbiz family who is too focused on being funny all the time regardless of the situation. At worst, she’s a vapid narcissist. I don’t know enough about her to determine which. I will say it’s problematic that she joined with Meghan Markle to publicly bully & encourage others to join in bullying Princess Catherine whom we all knew was trying to recover from a major abdominal surgery at the same time that her father-in-law was undergoing cancer treatments. What we didn’t know is that Catherine was also undergoing chemo at the same time too. Blair’s NEVER apologized for that despite her PR team putting out standbys that she did. Anyone who can bully someone like that got no good reason seems to be a mean girl. The fact that she’s still going after Justin Baldino & actively trying to ruin his career when she is the one who overstepped on his project is pretty telling as well. Of course, she’s been rude to reporters as well. It’s a shame because Ryan & Blake seemed to be a few of the decent people in Hollywood. The fact that Sony Pictures came out & backed Blake means that both her & Ryan are actively bullying him behind the scenes. They need to stop trying to ruin that man’s career & life. Actually, just typing this out is enough to see that Blake isn’t a good, moral person. Whoever said this year would be the downfall of celebrities was spot on.
It brings to mind four years ago when a lot of people were stuck in DV situations without a way out and Rihanna donated to the cause to provide resources. Probably bc she had experienced this herself, but even then she was famous with money and had a way out, and was still able to recognize and empathize with people that didn't have her resources. It's not hard to be a decent human, Lively just seems to be doing what she does on purpose rather than from ignorance, which is worrying.
Yeah, agreed. I think it’s less to do with fantasy and more to do with the aesthetics of the movie. Like you could have a serious DV movie take place in the 50s and pull those silhouettes into press junkets. So with challengers tennis theme, it made for a kind of refreshing red carpet look.
@@erinyetisiphoneyes agreed!!! I think it all depends on the subject matter ultimately. Challengers was about tennis first and foremost and that makes for a fun red carpet. Versus this movies subject matter is not “fun & florals”, it’s at the core about dv. Glossing over the opportunity to highlight this topic and try to spread awareness about it, just to dress up in florals is completely tone death. Read the room, which Zendaya and law roach are fantastic at.
Honestly? I think Zendaya’s Challengers press tour was a bit of a flop - the Dune one was much better. I’m kind of getting tired of the on-the-nose press tours ever since Margot Robbie’s Barbie extravaganza. Jenna Ortega is also currently doing this for Beetlejuice and I just think the references are so lazy and boring.
@@Michael-xi9nb Barbie extravaganza felt justified since it's Barbie and its campy on itself. Dune - fantasy theme always feels like an opportunity for over the top approach. I don't get why we needed this with the.. tennis?
I really appreciated your breakdown of "method dressing," and how respectfully you critique fashion. It'd be great to incorporate your insight for accessories and hair/makeup! Something I noticed was that she almost always chose the same down hairstyle and that her jewelry seemed out of place with most of her looks. Also, I thought her shoes were almost always not quite right (the sorbet louboutins and bright red heels!)
@MelissaAuthority YESSSSSSS. I’m not knocking anyone who reads it because I’ll never knock down anyone for reading something but to say it’s a good book is………….,……….worrying. Because it’s not a good book. It makes no sense. Pacing is all over the place. Plot is a hot mess.
In the past, I have seen her wear elegant classics and incredible gowns. Now she is wearing hideous rags. What happened? In Age of Adeline, her wardrobe was brilliant and timeless.
She told the audience to wear their florals. My thought was...girl, people might need therapy and comfy sweats. She missed the mark here and an opportunity to bring domestic violence and the many forms it comes in to the forefront. Missed the mark if you asked me
Everything she wore was horrible. And Lively hasn't really got the panache and charisma to carry it off. Also, I saw THE Interview too. We all have by now. Her behaviour was hardly....fragrant....
Thank you for the clear synopsis of movie, press tour and reaction etc. This puts everything into context for me. I'd thought it was a gentle romcom she was promoting from her tone. Her making it about the method dressing fashion whilst not acknowledging the DV subject matter was not cool. It negates and dismisses the real issue. Thank you Luke for your direct approach. We can discuss fashion as observers, but for her, as an actress, her priority should have been subject matter and not "let's all wear florals and celabrate floral"
I have complicated opinions about social media’s cyclical systematic takedown of women, but I am a fan of this takedown of Blake Lively’s messy fashions lol. She needs a stylist. Also, agree that method dressing for this particular movie was inappropriate. Your take on this was spot on
Spot on. Stylist don’t just choose pieces but STYLE them…that’s where Blake is a dummy. She can’t do it all. Acting? Questionable. A woman of the people? Nope. A girls’s girl? Nope. The stylist can also work with the designer to try to get pieces altered and curate the look. She clearly needs a handler in all aspects of life bc she doesn’t know what she’s doing.
Maybe if the flowers were broken or degaded/deconstructed it would have worked?. Moving from young and pretty to harsh and deconstructed and then transitioning to renewal, budding flowers for new love.
You should consider being a stylist or work at wardrobe department on a set cuz the storytelling concept you just came up with is BRILLIANT! Like yes!!! I see the vision! That’s so creative and what a wonderful way to make florals work for this context.
what a shallow person blake lively turned out to be, Taking a sensitive subject matter and trying to turn into barbie moment and on top of that shamelessly promoting her brands during press of a movie about DV. this was beyond pthetic shows her real intention for producing and staring that role.
2:32 I think the Versace look might have looked good on someone with high contrast features: either dark hair and lighter skin or dark hair and a deeper skin tone. Lively just looks...like beige wearing brights. It washes her out.
No, not having anyone who can say no to her and her husband and thinking they make the best decisions is why the styling and marketing has failed. Lots of people have stylists and still look a mess. And Blake has looked fantastic. But she didn't take it seriously enough and thought too much of herself. And her assistant s were too inexperienced to tell her otherwise
Zendaya method dressed for Challengers as well which has a LITTLE less of the fantasy element… except it was a through a romantic lens and tennis was the main theme of the movie, not a side plot like the flower shop
Right!! And Luke’s video on that press tour showed how even the more subtle looks had historical references and contributed to this larger story she was telling about the history of representation for Black women in the sport!!
I always think of Lupita Nyong'o when it comes to film themed dressing - she's said her and her stylist choose 1 or 2 theme words to focus looks around and I feel like her looks are much more cohesive than this but also have the ability be more subtle than the full on Barbie method dressing (which clearly doesn't work for every movie genre)
Blake Livelys biggest problem is Blake Lively. Her massive ego gets in her way all the time and shows in her wardrobe choices. She would never dream of hiring a stylist, she thinks she knows everything about fashion and how to dress for a press tour. She has no idea this was a huge failure because she thinks it was perfection. Ive been over any of her fashion looks for years, its never quite right and very boring
Because they only surround themselves with people that tell them that they are amazing and cant do no wrong and avoid people telling them the truth with the narrative that “they are haters, envious and dont get it”
Not gonna lie, anyone who's familiar with the book has probably seen this messy outcome coming. Obviously not to the extent that it currently is, but the book itself along with the author are problematic by nature, so it's kinda inevitable that the movie suffers the same fate. Half of TikTok was simping over the male lead Atlas for...honestly I don't even know what, and the other half has been condemning the book since day 1 for...you guessed it - romanticizing DV. Blake is the lightning rot for public criticism here, and for good reasons, but honestly this whole thing was always going to spiral no matter what.
I have no intentions on reading the book, but from what I gather Atlas is the non abusive love lead that she relates to and has a history with? Is he a bland character?
I agree that they should not have 'method dressed' for this movie but there could have been a thoughtful way to go about it. The florals feels very superficial and, from what I have heard from other reviewers and some simple research, there is a more significant allegory/motif of the oak tree to Lily's character. I feel like it would have been more significant to explore or even transition into those motifs in this 'method dressing' than just doing florals because not only would it showcase Lily's character but also her growth and resilience, which is a stronger takeaway than 'the character is a florist'.
It seems like there are two interesting angles to the method dressing not working here: one is that the looks don’t really land (stylist could have helped there) and two is that the method dressing is too shallow for the serious subject matter. I think Blake Lively wanted to wear florals and have fun, which goes against the serious subject matter of the film. So when Lively says “there’s more to this character than just being a victim of domestic violence” it sounds less like she actual wants to engage with the many facets of this character and more like she wants people to forget about the icky bad DV stuff and focus on the romance and cool clothes. Which is very off-putting, idk why anyone would want to see her portray this character she seems to barely care about.
She definitely danced around the subject matter. Don’t know why she signed onto it if she can’t address it other than seeing the popularity of the book as a cash cow.
With the Britney dress and the kind words spent for her, Blake wanted to send a message as to be considered suitable for the role of Britney in the upcoming docu movie Business never sleeps for some ppl
This is the first long form content I watch of you and I love your approach! Very well done and fun while still being considerate towards her and not just mean for clicks even though you clearly could have been her.
Blake is really good with styling red carpet gowns that are flattering on her. However, her style for everything is makes me think she really needs a stylist.
I agree. She’s good with dresses or gowns that don’t need much styling - you can wear it as it is - but full outfits is her weak point. It’s often too busy, frumpy or mismatched. A stylist would be helpful to make sure everything is cohesive and refined.
'She needs a stylist' Why? Honestly why? Why is someone dressing themselves so offensive to you. Y'all would've dressed Margot Robbie as a literal doll for the rest of her life.
@@gleewhoseline198she needs a stylist cause she borrows clothes from designers to wear to this events and if she doesn’t wear them the best way they can be worn it’s such a waste of “x-deal” stylists know how to manipulate outfits to showcase both the wearer and the outfits the best way possible. Blake’s clothes are nice, but how she wears them is just all over the place
@@gleewhoseline198obviously she doesn’t NEED one, in the great scheme of things. But she needs one if she wants to live up to the fashion icon image she is trying to sell and that she genuinely seems to think she has achieved
The only consistent thing is that she's usually verging on colorblind on color combos and a sucker for a slightly old fashioned 2000s-ish big colourful chandelier earring (which I do like because it goes well with her big Barbie hair)
Someone might have said this-Zendaya did method dressing for a non-fantastical movie: Challengers. And it was done right b/c it wasn’t as serious / heavy of a topic. I think It Ends With Us combo of it being a serious topic + non-fantastical made it a bit of a train wreck.
As soon as you explained method dressing and this film, I immediately thought about Alexander Mcqueen, especially his early collections. He knew femininity is fragile, but he also wanted women to be strong. They could’ve pulled tons of inspiration from him.
I could see a floral dress being used the entire press tour but have it slowly degrade for each interview. Or do it the other way around and use several dresses pretending to be one dress that heals over time. There was a way to do marketing through clothing but Blake was dead set on downplaying the darker movie tones.
That's exactly what I was thinking!!! Something like a flowy dress with a belt or embroidered flower stems and the petals falling to the bottom of the dress where they begin to rot
I have read the book and the one in the series that follows. What the character went thru was dark. Very scary. I don't understand why method dressing was even necessary for this book. Let the book and movie stand alone and maybe don't distract from that with outfits that barf flowers????
So I don't know anything about fashion, and I don't really care about it at all either, but somehow I was transfixed this entire video because the points you made were FASCINATING. Man, I love seeing people get really deep into subjects they're super good at.
I’m a little weary of the “method dressing” trend. Actors are already expected to do so much promotion of their films. And, as I understand it, actors are not necessarily compensated for promotional activities. Some promotion may be contractually obligated, but it’s not necessarily a separate line item. It seems like there are already unwritten expectations around film promotion, and I’d hate to see “do free marketing for the studio with your clothing choices” added to the list.
Florals? For Lily Blossom Bloom? Groundbreaking.

Promoting it as a rom-com is so tone deaf it's insane.

Pretty much, she dresses for a party when it's clearly a funeral.
So grab your girlsss wear your florals and go see the movie😂😂

i also wanted to add, while it's not fashion, flowers and abuse have gone hand in hand for some cases. there was a professional japanese wrestler who passed away due to self harm over bullying, her name is hana, meaning flower in japanese and every year on her anniversary, the tag #flowersforhana is used. flowers bring people hope and and comfort, and blake couldn't even try that...
My thoughts exactly. A lot of survivors love flowers/nature and could have relate but no, the bar truly was in hell.
@@moustik31I feel Blake made a movie about DV all about herself. As a survivor, it sickens me.

So much this. And so many people STILL don't see the hypocrisy.
she was probably trying to have her Scarlet Johansson moment on women being asked stupid and clothes related questions.

Zendaya method dresses for spider man and dune but not for Euphoria. You explained it perfectly, the fantasy element is needed.
and Zendaya has the best stylist Law Roach
I mean, she method dressed for Challengers too, which had no actual fantasy element to it - it did however have a certain… flair you could play up, which in that case was a tennis theme. At the end of the day, you just gotta have a feel for when it’s appropriate. And yeah, a stylist may generally help with that.
@@replikkantyeah I think it's as Haute said; if it has a serious tone, you really need to think about how you decide to "method style"; Challengers wasn't a serious movie, it's literally the "horny tennis polyamory camp movie"

Exactly!
Because she didn’t try Neither Blake or Colleen have the emotional depth to care for domestic violence victims.
She was so flippant about it. That was shocking, when so many women are murdered and seriously injured by their male partners.

That would have been a great idea
I love how she is promoting her booze brand while not understanding that 90% of DV is from alcohol abuse.

And having a cocktail named after the abuser in the movie at a premiere party (Ryle you wait, there's even a pun in it, how fun !) ... Does she even care about the subject of the movie ?
The man in the story is quite literally an alcoholic too! No self awareness

The way she promoted this film was terrible. I seriously thought this was a romantic comedy. Not a movie about the serious topic of DV.
Listen if you took the actors promotion as the only preview to the movie when the fucking trailer tells you exactly what it's about down to the song they used in it then that's a user failure on your part. Don't blame her for you lack of critical thinking and research before seeing a movie or skimming a review of the book beforehand.

The color for Domestic Violence awareness is purple. She could have worn purples for the press tour
Why would she do something that takes the attention off of her 🥲
i do not think she has a style at all, i just see it as a person wearing branded clothing and calling the design of the dresses “her style”. plus, the way she brags abt how she dresses lily bloom is from her closet when it doesn’t even make any sense for a “struggling florist” to wear such expensive clothing 💀
Doesn't seem like she would listen anyway
This was a problematic book by a problematic author. The movie was never going to end well. Top that off with Blake:s lack of originality and its a disaster. She's not Margot, and this movie isn't Barbie. I won't even factor in the "mean girl" issues that have arisen.
The movie could have been salvaged. Blake seems to share Colleen’s vision of the romance being the key whereas the screenwriter and director seem to be driving at a dramatic movie with a twist.

"Grab your girlfriends and put on a pretty flowery dress and come see my fun new movie!"
Especially because DV and alcoholism are often conntectet
And she doesn’t even DRINK. She’s just selling to sell. There is no passion behind it
It's even worse when you learn that in the book, the domestic abuse is often tied with the male character DRINKING. And then she named a DRINK AFTER HIM
Blake needs more no people in her life and less, yes people.
Yep. As someone who watched my mother be abused by my father BECAUSE of alcohol, I can't understand why she's so flippant about this.
Its ironic that Blake ALSO used Britney. Instead of talking about an icon who was mistreated in our faces for 13 years, Blake used Britney’s name and clothes to better herself.

this little added context that she doesnt have a stylist and it was literally 100% her choice to dress like THIS for a movie about dv… is crazy.
This is a genius idea!!
@@shneakrets thank you ❤️

Perfect coment
She doesn’t even seem to go too much into depth with fashion either. It seems really obvious in this video, that she just wears nice designer dresses that work as a single piece, but the moment there has to be more than one garment in play it looks weird….
Yup
The term is vacuous
Fashion has always been used as an expression. And she did exactly that. She conveyed her superficial and dim witted self, with her gaudy get up.
the yellow tights are a crime
She looks like she's wearing a costume from Little Shop of Horrors. Very costume-y

All her outfits look just too busy and mismatched, her messy hair just adds to her looking really really messy
I don't blame her for her hair, somehow it seems almost none of those stars with access to professional hair and make-up artist actually use them for nice hair dos. most everyone has just boring beach weaves.
Right and on top of that, she just likes to put multiple busy patterns on top of eachother.
She’s going to come out and say she doesn’t have a hairdresser either. She’s a one woman show
Yes! It's too much: the different patterns and the vibrant colors, the sparkling and the layers... Too extravagant and tiring to look at. Too overdue it lacks classiness.
Blake is the classiest woman in the buisness and these outfits are all spectacular just like she is.
Her biggest crime is the way she "styled" Isabela Ferrer for the premiere. She made sure that poor girl didn't outshine her.
I just saw it, that was indeed criminal, no notes. WTH
Omg I just searched & yes you're so right!!
Wow.. poor thing.
Wow, I just looked it up and it's insane. Wherever Blake had her fashion/tone faux pas, Isabela is also there looking like Blake's younger sister (kinda matching? but in a less fashionable way)
It's a pretty sundress but it doesn't even whisper movie premiere outfit.
She burned through a ton of goodwill in an astonishing amount of time
She burned through so much she burnt up Ryan's too.

I think it could have been done right. But Blake would have to recognise a few things:
Perfectly stated

@@m.bird. I find Ryan totally insufferable too

The problem isnt that she didnt know how to represent DV in her method dressing, but the fact that she didnt want to bring up DV at all - not in her interviews, not through her social media posts, etc.
Maybe it is triggering for her, because ryan is an alcoholic himself.
@@Oceangrace90she probably shouldn't be using the press tour to advertise her alcohol brand then 😅
@@Oceangrace90”Ryan is an alcoholic”…wtf does that have to do with DV?
Blake should have just worn the latest fashions that suited her and stop trying to method dress. The movie does not lend itself to fashion, so don't try. Not every one must do that method dressing thing.
Right!👍
But she really wanted to be Zendaya
That'd be great
She basically seems to think that just because clothing items are expensive and from designer brands, they'll look good together no matter what
At some point, she picked up the idea that arrogance is a sign of being cool, and it reflects in nearly all aspects of how she expresses herself.
@@writerchick94 did I not make it clear that her marriage isn't the only source of her influence, but that it should not be dismissed either?
@@writerchick94She is only famous because of Ryan and we all know it. If not for him she would have been forgotten like the rest of the cast of Gossip Girl.
I think it's a shame she didn't utilise the darkness of the story and bring more attention to the subject of violence towards women.
She could have worn something from McQueen's Highland R*pe collection or Robert Wuns bejewelled blood bride, she could even have worn something chainmail from Paco Rabane for 'strength'. So many opportunities from where designers have strived to make women look and feel strong in the face of adversity and crimes against them.
(I wrote this before I got to Luke speaking about the McQueen collection 😅 don't come for me)
I was thinking about Robert Wun bllod bride look too, he had a couple of styles which depicted blood stains.
That is such a good idea!
I know of way too many people who started reading the book not knowing the subject matters it would deal with, which is potentially very triggering; and now, I'm started to hear the same thing is happening in the case of the movie as well
You explained fashion to me like I was an idiot… and I am an idiot so I greatly appreciated it. This is legitimately a very helpful video.
The said thing is that she could of done method dressing with layers to great effect. Like a flowered coat hiding a black dress or flowered dresses that were slashed in strategic places. That would have been a cool interpretation of the story
This was amazing to watch thank you 🎉
The fashion could’ve been so smart and brought awareness to DV victims.
That is a good point.
@@jakestroll6518 Yes !!
the fashion could have changed to show you how the abuse was affecting her. i haven't seen the movie, but it seems obvious - fashion choices are vibrant and flower-y when she's happy and then darker/simpler when she's on the relationship
why not try a different approach for a change: leave the method-styles to movies that are generelly fun like "challengers" but promote a movie with a seriuos topic like "IEWU" by giving great thoughtful interviews/press tours including intelligent actors who have something worthwhile to say about the topic of the movie?
The thing I don't understand is that Blake didn't become known for her style, she became known for playing Serena van der Woodsen and that characters style was completely curated by costume designer Eric Daman. I think this video and seeing all the press tour looks together also begs the question of does this look good or is she just skinny and blonde?
I think she decided that she is a fashion girl because of that character and assumed she could replicate that on her own. I have always gotten the sense that she is trying to be a fashion icon but she just isn't imo
+

The message she conveyed throughout the promotion of this movie "me, me, me"....and it backfired royally.
Hey now! Your forgot the copious amount of “my Husband” in there too
That's always been her message.
'Grab your friend, wear your florals' was a bad tag line
It meant nothing except to people who simply want to heat on a beautiful woman with great fashion taste and she looks just amazing in floral
Maybe even small, tasteful splashes in hopeful colors to symbolize healing would have seriously worked with a neutral wardrobe too
@@eerielconstantine5051 I can see that and it would have been perfect.
Love this idea!
Or LIMITED floral motifs on top as a sort of "blooming hope"/perseverance message.
I don't know, people would have accused her of cos playing dv if she did that I think...
Zendeya with Challengers: non-fantasy method dressing, but the subject matter was easier.
Yes, And Law Roach is an amazing stylist
Yeah, agreed. I think it’s less to do with fantasy and more to do with the aesthetics of the movie. Like you could have a serious DV movie take place in the 50s and pull those silhouettes into press junkets. So with challengers tennis theme, it made for a kind of refreshing red carpet look.
@@erinyetisiphoneyes agreed!!! I think it all depends on the subject matter ultimately. Challengers was about tennis first and foremost and that makes for a fun red carpet. Versus this movies subject matter is not “fun & florals”, it’s at the core about dv. love how Luke is wearing a floral shirt as well
And black! Maybe Blake could have worn black or white flowers
Luke always pays attention to detail!
Her promotion campaign is CRAZY! How can someone think this is a good idea! 🤔
Haute, you're being very kind. I see this more as a Carrie Bradshaw complete misfire.
She is so superficial. She just wants to show off all her clothes, shoes, and jewelry. There's no meaning behind it. She is so shallow.
I can’t wait for the Wicked press tour. That’ll hopefully be another great example of fantasy and method dressing.
IIRC the leads already started with some pastel pink and intense green red carpet dresses.
@@benzaiten933 I did see some of it yes. I think Cynthia and Arianna were at the Olympics too.
She also said “grab your girlfriends and wear your florals” during an interview 😬
With the Britney dress and the kind words spent for her, Blake wanted to send a message as to be considered suitable for the role of Britney in the upcoming docu movie
Business never sleeps for some ppl
Didn’t zendaya do non-fantasy method dressing with the tennis movie? 16:58
This is what I came to comment !
The only consistent thing is that she's usually verging on colorblind on color combos and a sucker for a slightly old fashioned 2000s-ish big colourful chandelier earring (which I do like because it goes well with her big Barbie hair)
This was really eye opening, I never really thought about fashion as a means of communication on a wider scale like this before. Great content!
I like that!
Wow
I really want to draw your concept!❤ saving this for a rainy day
@@bloodrainicorn6193That sounds like a really cool project!
