I hope you make many more videos in this style, I am going to visit again. As with all films there may be imperfections, but this one I enjoyed more than ANY other I have seen in months, and I've seen many. Thank you for portraying a survivor story of people who did not by coincidence have a PhD in post-apocalyptic science (like all the commentators seem to have), a story of Christians being a family in the worst situation, with a satisfying but explicable end. Thank you!
This... no words can say just how impressed I am with the entire thing! This was so good even from the start and I hated that it ended so soon. Great story line, great acting and just a blown away effect overall! Thank you!!
I realize that this was done nine years ago. I am absolutely floored at the quality and acting and overall masterpiece of an independent short film. Wow
After 7 years on RUclips and only 31k views!?!? I'm really surprised.. was a very good short film, good acting and realistic situations. Highly recommended!
I am watching this in 2021 and I will still say that this is a good movie I hope you all have been able to succeed in your dreams of creating even greater movies I hope you all have kept up your creativity and I'm hoping to find more movies from y'all
Then you would also know that being that close to the shockwave they would in all reality be dead also and not to mention the fallout that would have settled upon them in the coming days.
For a movie like this, that portrays the immediate aftermath of an attack, you need to have actors who are willing to run themselves down by fifteen to twenty percent below the weight they started at to get the effect of the ordeal they're going through. Good work. Thanks.
WOW! What a bunch of great talents, I loved the story and could feel the aches of each of the characters. Brilliant director, actors and playwright. Overall i give it a 10. Hope you can do more films, you are amazing, honestly! 💕
I think this was more realistic of all the post apocalypse short films that I’ve watched. Alot of them are really good. He put alot of thought into it. Very well done! I can see life living out this way soon.
I watched this and thought it was a professional documentary filmed from a first person perspective. Then only after I read the comments and realised it wasn't a big budget commerical project. Totally awesome. Beautifully filmed and excellent effects. The exploding fuel can when shot should have been bigger just for the shock impact. But totally excellent acting from all the cast. Being a photographer myself I was especially impressed by the cut scenes and atmospheric shots.
Very well done. Works from a number of angles. Doesn't explain everything ... doesn't solve everything ... which is good. Leaves it up to the viewer to think things through.
Okay....already I am annoyed at how "pansy" this guy is. Hell, save the propane for heating in winter months. Cook over a flame fire. Fish everyday, and save canned food....or dry your fish/deer catch, into jerky by using the sun...voile'...no need for refrigerator. Society is extremely spoiled and useless. As a woman...I know how to hunt, fish and dress my kill, cook it over an open fire, purify water. True survivors do not need to haul hundreds of pounds of canned food & gallons of water. LEARN to do without, so you can become resourceful in a catastrophe.
I wondered whether these post apocalyptic scenarios were foretelling or preprogramming, then I saw a small town in Virginia the day after a Derecho came through and knocked power out. I was driving through and needed gas, only one gas station had power during this hot and humid summer morning. It hadn't even been half a day and people were at each other's throats already.
This was a very well made film, I have yet to see any others like it on RUclips. Very well done, I hope to see films of this caliber in the future, I shall compare them to this one in their use of quality, style, and effects
amazing work i love it the editing the camera shots the sound, everything was awesome keep up the good work and i look foward to seeing more of your work your halo video was great and this is even better good job.
In movies like this, people are always selfish and look out for themselves or their own family. In a real situation, surely it would make sense for people to hang together and help each other out. That's how we got through the Stone Age.
just to answer your question, the school was lit naturally. There were skylights in the ceiling, which was what you mistook for artificial light. As for the grass being cut, you got us there, we didn't have the money for a greens department....and we couldn't force people to stop cutting the grass for weeks. That's something we couldn't do with a few hundred dollars.
"People's Militias" are more likely to evolve into this gangs than anything else, it's not like they are actually trying to develop means to produce goods in mass scales so that no one has to take it by force, they would be the ones exercising strength, like they've preparing for anyways, and that simply is not enough to organize people in desperate situations, so in no time they would be the ones needing to be held accountable. Stop storing guns and start learning how to plant stuff.
thanks! the halo movie was really just a little project compared to Aftermath, we had real actors for this and extras. It was alot more complicated, but fun.
Tough situation. I can think of some things I might have done differently than the father did, but he and his children survived in the end. Thanks only to a stroke of good luck, being rescued by some good people. This makes a good argument for being a prepper. You never know what may happen. A good chance the people that rescued them were at least a little prepared for possible disasters. Which are many. Great film. Very well acted and made.
In any other era, this adolescent would be a man. The father needs to let him. Together they might have half a chance of protecting their little girl, who will be the cradle for the next generation. That's what it comes down to.
Most vehicle is anti-siphon now. The only way to get gas out is either inject air pressure in to it or get access to the gas tank by drill or unbolt the seats...
or remove the hose clamp from the rubber fuel hose or vent tube right beside of it and simply siphon from there but not necessary on that early 90s bus he was siphoning from
Holy cow, this is remarkable filmaking. I absolutely love this and will share this film with a lof of my PA groups. I'm a writer and reminds me of my novella, Wasteland. Very cool, If you wanna read a copy, I'd be glad to get you one. It's on Amazon. Just message me and I'll get you one. Great job!!!!!!
not every nuke is the same, there are strategic nukes. Not all of them are MASSIVE, END OF THE WORLD nukes. You have to have strategically sized nukes varying in destructive power. It's unintelligent to have 50 square miles of nuclear contamination if your goal is to destroy one small city.
Great work with the filming aspect, I loved how the shots were filmed. But your editing needs serious work bro, look up some tuts, they will really help. But I don't want to distract from my main point, which is that this was VERY well done.
If you are far enough away a nuke won't blind you but would i gamble on it hell no of look away so i can preserve my eye balls in the even me and my wife will survive the initial impact
Enjoyable vid. A good representation of the possible "complications" concerning postpoc parenthood. Thanks for your efforts in making it available.. d:^)
Very nice job on this movie, I agree with the others i'd like to see it be expanded on, another 30 minutes or so you could have something here that would be a full lenth movie you might be able to interest someone in, The "gangs" sadly portrayed here and also in the movie Dystopia will likely be what it will be like for those that do survive the aftermath of a nuclear explosion. It will create lots of paranoia and mistrust and turn people against each other. Perhaps that is something you could use to expand on a little cutting away from the family to the "gang" to show more of this side. Just a thought.. Very well done though! It as a great job and especially on a limited budget that even as someone else said many high budget films don't even capture.
God told us not to waste our time praying to dead people, it's putting dead people before him which is breaking the first commandment. If you need help you best be asking Our Savior, Yeshua for guidance and strength. Dead people are dead in the ground no one has went to heaven yet they aren't in the arms of angels they're waiting for yeshua's return just as the Church is. I've seen many people say that. I don't know how you aren't seeing those comments. Lol this short was unrealistic from the start. Some things would happen the way they portrayed but the big stuff wasn't. This movie wasn't even possible without the unrealistic beginning which makes the entire movie redundant in my opinion.

Well that's unrealistic. Lol "get behind the tree" as if that's going to protect you from the shock wave of a nuclear bomb that went off in the range of your sight. Lol

yeah, I wish we explained his decision better, he left because his son was pushing him to leave, his son and daughter we restless out in the swamp, and losing hope. He was trying to give them hope. We didn't show this as well as I wanted to.

One of the very best. Unlike the typical where all it is ..is young adults savagely killing each other, equipped with usually heavy artillery. Killing, in many cases, for no reason. One pretty much the same as the other. This one, I enjoyed. Wish it could have been longer.
I like it first time watching in 2020 March 14, very good and emotional movie something that can really happen very good movie it just shows people prepare ahead of time
