I loved your reaction so much. You were really getting deep into it too! You were jamming ! We oldtimers were so blown away as well. By now you've already learned Tori did all her own vocals and overlay backtracts. She is absolutely magical . It really feels like a long awaited "hello I'm okay " from Karen herself. I'm glad someone her age is appreciating this not forgotten icon. Thanks for posting your reaction . I loved it.

Tori did a lot of audio engineering at her high school, has a great knowledge of sequencing software, and also how to use physical mixing boards. She analyzed all the parts on the original Carpenters cut, and reproduced all the voices (Karen AND Richard) herself. She's brilliant and gifted with the same alto range. She's pretty amazing.

From one Joe to another. You are so blessed. I’m honored to be an early fan and doing my best to spread the word, like here with Sue and others, too. The “worst” I’ve heard back was “she has a lovely voice” that’s an understatement. Some like Sue have had to go through a shock to the system. I probably need to apologize to them but hey? Tori does to me what Karen did all those years ago when I was a teen, give me peace and joy. There have been many great singers through the years but this is different yet familiar. Merry Christmas to you and yours and here’s wishing 2024 is her year. Joe in Los Angeles. Oh yeah, got my tickets for April…
If you go to her site, she has a video showing how she sings each part on a different track, one at a time. Again, she's very savvy on the how-to regarding multitrack recording.

My understanding is that all the female backing vocals are Tori. Note also, she sings the passages that Richard sings on the original, takes a bit of getting used to, but it all works beautifully. The male singer gives background in this link:

A very good review and I guess the first of Tori that you have done. Some musical artists seem to have a natural flare and are able to perform somewhat effortlessly, although I assume that we can only see the end of the process as I’m sure that they have put countless hours into doing what they are so good at. Tori Holub certainly has this gift and one other person I can see with much the same talent is Ladyva (born Vanessa Sabrina Gnaegi, on 8 December 1988). She is a Swiss musician, boogie-woogie, blues and jazz pianist, singer and composer, who started playing the piano at the age of 14, and was inspired by the music of the great masters of boogie-woogie. I first came across her in a RUclips video playing on a public piano in a London railway station with another accomplished boogie-woogie musician, Brendan Kavanagh. I don’t know if you have come across her but would be interested in seeing you review this amazing performance by this fantastic Swiss musician, who is also superb singer. ruclips.net/video/4JYxpO0KIfM/видео.html.

Tori's voice sounds too good to be true, but it's all her, even the overdubbed backing tracks. I can't wait to hear what she does next.

Another great sounding Karen-type singer is the English singer, Harriet. Try reacting to Harriet-Grown Up Christmas List, or Harriet-Home(Michael Buble cover, or even Harriet-Goodbye To Love. She has been asked so many times to sing Carpenters songs, but she also sings her own songs.

Hi Sue! Nope, not Karen. I dropped the clue in the request. ALL the voices are Tori. She is also doing all the engineering to layer/stack/harmonize all with herself. Pretty amazing eh? There’s more, her channel, where this video resides, I’d full of Short videos of her amazing range. Check out Have you never been mello, how the heck does she do that with an Alto voice? There’s also a 3 minute demo of her laying down and mixing the tracks for We’ve Only Just Begun. I use the term channeling. 🤷🏻♂️ She doesn’t mimic, when it comes down to it you can tell the difference but it’s so close.
For the record Tori is currently 20 and Karen was 20 in that other video. Synergy. It took 53 years for this to happen. The Medley was covered only one other time 4 years ago, by a Tribute Act but they weren’t totally true to the Sullivan Show performance, Tori was.
Also, you are not the first to think a Karen vocal was involved, it was not. All Tori. I’m so glad you enjoyed and I did too watching you be perplexed. ❤️ It happens.

Tori has a fine voice. Not quite as good as Karen, but that is almost impossible. this is obviously not totally live, as she has layered her vocals to provide both lead & backing vocals.

I think Tori will be first to tell you she’s not Karen nor sounds like Karen. I’ll differ as she’s close and has an amazing range. She loves Carpenters which at 20 warms my heart no end. That someone this young loves my favorite band and voice of all time is awesome, to me. Now explain to me how she can also cover ON-J and reach those highs without her voice cracking. So basically she’s channeling the late two best friends. Check out her channel and try to stop your head from exploding. I’m severely damaged now and have to wear a helmet to hold in my brains. Oh and that she seems so nice and humble is the icing.
