Karen Carpenter died in 1983. I was 17 years old. I was Very saddened by it, I am 57 years old. And I haven't heard anyone come close to singing like her angelic voice. Bravo to you, dear!

I was also 17 in 1983 when Karen died. I had a special love for Karen. I grew up listening to her on vinyl because my mom absolutely loved the Carpenters. She would put a stack of Carpenters records on the player while we cleaned house. Karen is the one and only musician or celebrity I ever that I remember crying about their loss. She was one of a kind!!
What a fantastic artist! Yes, she has Karen’s perfect voice, but has her own gifts to give us. I hope she has the breakthrough moments that are due her as she is recognized as Tori.
First time I ever heard a voice even close to KC’s. You could pack auditoriums singing their tunes with that voice!

I'm a long time Carpenters fan. You are the only person I've ever heard that could do justice to these songs since she died. I like that you are not mimicking Karen's voice, it's your unique voice. (And it sounds excellent.) Well done, well done!

I've always loved Karen's unique "one of a kind" voice how smoothly she had a deep voice to go from the high notes to the low notes amazingly. Beautiful music that truly "was before it's time" back to the 70s! Loved singing Close To You myself similarly as kids in my class would ask me to sing it like her! It is fun! ❤

If Karen came along 50 years after Tori, we'd be saying Karen doesn't sound exactly like Tori. I think we had 55 years to have Karen's voice grow on us, and many here have just heard Tori only very recently. I think she sings Olivia NJ and Ann Wilson of Heart better than the singers themselves. I understand Tori isn't singing that long, and she's only 20, imagine another few years of perfecting her voice. Karen's voice improved nicely as she entered her 20s.

There is a very good reason why few try to redo their songs. Karen's voice and styling are untouchable. Not to mention Richard's amazing arranging. Well done young lady. Yes, you’re spot on correctly right, no talent trash on the radio nowadays in the Billboard pop music with a fake voice with totally fake autotune and low talent. But this girl Tori above can really sing for real with real talent just like The Carpenters, ABBA, Fleetwood Mac, Heart, Diana Ross, Carole King, Carly Simon, Patricia Dahlquist, and one of my very favourites Susan Jacks of the Poppy Family.
I hope this incredibly blessed young woman recreates every major Carpenters song and goes on tour. I'd pay an insane amount of money to hear that. I hope "Rainy Days and Mondays" is in the works, or any one of a dozen other songs of theirs I can think of. Tori, you are blessing to those of us who have been yearning for decades to hear real music and real talent again. Thank you!

Wow!! So glad you accepted this challenge! Saw the Carpenters in concert back in 1972. I was amazed that when they sang live they had 2 musicians to fill in for all those double tracks in the studio. I think you hit all the parts!!!

A handful of years ago, my sisters, my mom, and I went to a Carpenters Tribute show. We had every Carpenters album and knew all those songs beginning to end. That show was the worst insult to the Carpenters that there could ever be! Tori, your voice would be a treat to hear you do a full show of Carpenters music!! Please consider it, you have a new fan!💕

Singing with your hands in your pockets,Lori, is an added ‘so what’ feature that really makes the video. Like walking down the street along with a summer breeze while singing just for yourself. My favorite; Dionne painting her nails during a stage rehearsal as she sang one of her hits. Karen was the same way as she finessed her drum riffs. She was making them her exclamation marks for inflection, which was an integral force unto itself. As others have said, you can’t mimic heart and soul.
Having a hard time hearing Karen's voice but seeing your face , just not computing so far . But NEVER STOP singing !! You may become my new favorite singer .

I don’t have the education or vocabulary to put my finger on it… Timber, Body or phrasing? One of the other commoners said it beautifully - you sing with your own voice without mimicking. But in every other song, it seems like there’s swamp particular note or phrase where you are a perfect match with Karen. One definition of heaven would be to have the two of you on stage together in your primes.

Absolutely 100%. Also, her vocal tember is nearly identical to Karen's which is delightful. Tember is not something you can train. It's all about the individual. I just hope the music industry doesn't ruin her like the did Karen. The way I see it, the world has another amazing artist.

I actually have an identical Karen Carpenter voice, too! I was 18 when she died I was devastated. I especially love singing her Christmas carols. I should probably do this… go to a recording studio and have myself recorded. That would be fun.
Tori you give me chills and goosebumps every time. But this one was off the charts as a complete song. I love what you did combining The Tan Album version with a breakout homage to them on Ed Sullivan for the interlude. Awesome! I think of all the folks covering you’re the only one and the best one doing the multipart harmonies. That’s goosebump time. Not to mention your voice and dare I say Richard’s voice is in there, too. Wow! All I can ask for are more full length songs like this. You need a complete band to make it totally yours, is all that’s left. I assume it’s big bucks to license the backing tracks. You have the crisp clean voice and smooth melodic range of a seasoned singer. It's hard to believe that you haven't been singing that long and weren't highly trained. Other comments on this site are correct. I hate to compare but when I close my eyes you do sound like Karen Carpenter. I feel like I'm back in the '70s. Absolutely spectacular talent. I will only say that I am a senior citizen and am fully familiar with all of these songs. I grew up in the sixties and have most of these songs records; Dionne, Mama and The Papas, and of course The Carpenters. Top of The World and Calling Occupants are my favourite Carpenters songs as, unlike so many people of my era, I was not a huge Bacharach-David music fan. I acknowledge their tremendous success and talent but some of The Carpenters' other songs were more to my taste. But your ability to cover Karen so extremely well, is just otherworldly talent. I just discovered you on Instagram today (I am not a fan of Tik Tok) and I heard a bit of your cover of Olivia's "I Honestly Love You"; again, really special. I've been a fan of Olivia Newton-John since I bought "If Not For You" on a 45 rpm single, before her first album came out in Canada. Kudos to you and your work. I am following you on RUclips, my preference for music related social media. I'm glad your here and I thank you for sharing your gift with the world.
