64 Galaxie owner with a 352 FE motor. Take it from me, heat is your best friend. I had almost no problem getting the passenger side manifold off but for some reason the drivers side was a absolute pain. Passenger side worked well with propane torch but the drivers side needed Oxy Acetylene torch to get the bolts out. Take your time and don't do what I did and hurry. Broke a bolt in the FE manifold which now requires drilling. Long story short, heat is good but it also depends on how much heat you have....in conjunction with penetrating fluid.
I just did mine. I broke 4 out of 8 of the top bolts. bottom bolts came off clean. I had to cut a notch in the threaded area and bust out the old bolt. It was the only way without pulling the heads. It isn't the right way but it works. These old motors are champs.
I've been told that you can just put some sandpaper down on a flat surface and run it back and forth. And that will help when it comes to ceiling it back up with a new gasket.
I had a 98 F150 with a v6, I couldn't get any of the bolts out they all disintegrated.... I can't believe how nice those bolts are for a truck that old...
Yes, very lucky on this one. Someone replaced them at some point and maybe they used anti seize. You could hear how tight the last one was in the video. It was pretty bad. The other came out no problem.
Nice job! We are planning a trip to central florida then driving down to keys. Only did Disney when i was a kid so we are excited to check it out. Labor day week. Should be nice and 🔥. Still cold up north but spring is now here.
Nice! That will be a great trip. The keys are beautiful and Disney will be a ton of fun but yes it will be hot. Drink lots of water! It's just started raining like crazy today.
The bolts on my exhaust manifold are completely froze. Even soaked them with PB Blaster everyday for a couple weeks. Even used heat a few times to no avail. So unfortunately, I must remove the cylinder head, and work on it on the work bench. Oh well, that's just how life is, lol.
I messed my bolts on the driver aside of my 360/390 f100 near the cab. Drilled out the broke bolt the messed up the threads on the head. It’s at the shop costing me 1700. What do you think? I changed the exhaust casket and has me a leak where the stripped bolt. So it was my fault
Ford doesn't use gaskets from the factory. Had gaskets on mine when i acquired it cleaned them up real good and reinstalled with no gaskets and no leaks
I would definitely have to say no to headers no no no no no because on the passenger side many times you will have to pull the headers just to change the starter it's not cool
Glad I watched this, I was going to do the same on my 390. But now I'll have someone do it for me . lol
Good idea! If you can afford have someone else do it. It was a pain!
I'm going to attempt it again on my 1973 390. Broke 1 bolt off last summer... lol wish me luck

Take another combo wrench and out the closed end over the open end of the other one for leverage. Much easier.
Hey Casey! Great idea man! I will try that next time! Stay tuned for more! Did you subcribe?
That sound scares the crap out of me each time
Cool Star Wars shirt :)
I know. I had all my fingers and toes crossed on that one. Thanks! I've collected a few over the years.

Nice job man. What year is your truck?
It is a 68 f100 with a 360 @@CTmoog
Thats a nice one!
You have a ton more room then I do in mine. I can barely get the wrench over the bolt
I use a piece of pipe as a breaker bar.
Great detail, explanation on how to do this. My 1972 Ford F-250 360 ci needs one gasket replacement. 👍🏻😉🇺🇸🙏🏻🇺🇸🙏🏻🇺🇸🙏🏻🇺🇸🙏🏻🇺🇸🙏🏻🇺🇸🙏🏻🇺🇸🙏🏻
I always put 1” copper over my wrenches if I need more leverage. Depending on tightness you can use 12”-6”
nice engine bro you know what your doing keep tucking
Thanks man! It's a fun hobby!
Put remflex gaskets on my 390 yrs ago, no leaks
I've been told that you can just put some sandpaper down on a flat surface and run it back and forth. And that will help when it comes to ceiling it back up with a new gasket.
I got a 79 460 I got to do this on but some how I’m watching this video march 18 2024
keep the vids coming.
Thanks man! I will.

They have socket sets so you don’t strip or break anything on rust nuts and bolts

Keep making videos
Thanks Jacob. I will. I try to make at least one a week.

I have a F250 with the 360 my manifold has the same 2 lil holes I know one is for the choke but the other one stays open or goes somewhere? Any help
Did you have a loud ticking noise when you had the leak?
im gonna put my short tube headers on asap
cool, good luck! Thanks for watching!
I'm pretty sure your motor had never been opened up. If you look at the valve covers they had the little clips that they came with from the factory.
Nice job . I would replace it for $40 but it your truck . You can get the manifold resurfaced but im sure that would be $40 .
Thanks Huck. Yes, I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with a new one. It's hard to beat at that price.
Ford doesn't use gaskets from the factory. Had gaskets on mine when i acquired it cleaned them up real good and reinstalled with no gaskets and no leaks
If you rebuild the heads they will deck the surface of the head and exhaust manifold. Then just use the heat shield with no gasket.
I would definitely have to say no to headers no no no no no because on the passenger side many times you will have to pull the headers just to change the starter it's not cool
I agree. I went with the stock exhaust system! Thanks for hanging out!
That is the exact reason that I’m watching this video, picked up a project truck 390 with headers and a bad starter
Had a HELL of a time with the headers in the way to get to that starter. Going back to the original manifolds.
Did it many times, not a fun job, cut a nonch in frame to make header install easier.
Why not use a pipe/cheater?
Yes, you could. That was the first thing I found in the garage. It worked pretty good.
Where can i buy new manifold for 40$? 😊
Yes, the prices have gone up.....crazy...
@@CTmoog yes but where did you buy them ?
You shut put some heders isted
Thank you
