I have several thousand hours in Realm of the Mad God and it was wild to see it brought up in a League of Legends gamemode video.
Haha same, one of my favorite games when I was younger. I rage quit the game after thousands of hours after losing my favorite character I had(paladin)
I played it for a few hours with some friends. Its very fun when youre still leveling up and buying upgrades. Once you stabilize, it's pretty much over. Like he says in the video, the amount of things happening on screen at once becomes impossible to follow. Unfortunately I can't see meaningful solutions coming before it hits live, so I'm pretty surprised that it's being greenlit in this state. Still, I'll be happy to give it another go when it comes out.
i always thought augments were perfect for a roguelike, and always wanted to have a roguelike without a "unique twist", just default roguelike experiencw which afaik is what this mode is aiming to be

I’ve been playing swarm a ton since it hit PBE too, and it’s very enjoyable. But there are some bugs I’ve noticed other then the ones you haven’t mentioned. Like briar’s frenzy will end any time you level up or pick a card, and there’s no way to evolve the items that require area or effect as the stat can’t be upgraded in game like the others (thus making the quests to upgrade those items impossible) Although I was able to unlock the final stat slot just fine.
i have same issues, objectives cant be done
ye area size was blocked because of a bug that made tibbers way too op. ive not had an issue with objectives though
The problem is, even Exil didn't understand some things aren't bugs. The area size augment was just not available in the game, it was added yesterday, now searing shortbow can be actually evolved. There are a lot of quests still which aren't unlockable, and a lot of augments Riot didn't add yet. (like regenerative tissue which unlocks after you beat extreme Aatrox)
Let's hope it's not as fast and fun as dOmInIoN! xD
A surprisingly really good survivor game is Holocure. I know very little about hololive stuff but the actual game is very colorful and really well made.
Deep rock galactic survivor is bis imo. Being able to mine through walls and change the maps terrain in a rougelike autoshooter really adds to replayability. Best $9 I’ve ever spent haha

I can't wait to play this when it goes live I hope riot fixes most of the gamebreaking bugs
I understand it's important to measure this mode on its own merits, but man, talk about an oversaturated market. There are only 1636281942 mobile games that are exactly this. CoD even had a zombie mode with this style at one point. I haven't played league probably in over a year, and this will not change that. Still love watching your videos though.

Is there controller support? It doesn't sound like it. Being limited to WASD for movement sucks balls for games like this. That will be a huge issue if it's not added.

I like RuneScape 3 music
So, having nearly 250 hours into bullet heaven style games (Vampire survivors, DRG: Survivor, Holocure) my big take away is that the core gameplay is not the actual mechanical inputs, but the build crafting and gambling. The issues Exile brings up I feel like could be applied to most of these types of games. There just isn't a mechanical depth. There hasn't been a single one of these games that I haven't played and gone "Man, this would just be better as a twin stick". I think the gambling style "Work with what you get" build crafting and such is a great idea, but removing the ability to aim (Vampire Survivors and DRG:S) is ultimately a bad call.
You can aim your main ability here, if you want, with the mouse.
He didn't understand some things well, like for example he recommended stats for champs which don't actually do much for them. He also said Yuumi quests are skippable, which is ridiculous. Something like the "uwu blaster" is also an op weapon which you can build on literally every champ, yet he didn't bring it up
another bug - was supposed to get a reroll after the 40k kills achievement, didnt get it, otherwise game is cool
Too bad I stopped playing LoL after their anti-cheat root kit came out..

I haven't played it, but from what you say here, i think there is a bigger problem
There seems to be no endgame or replayability
You complete extreme on all champions.. now what?
There isn't meant to be an intense grindable endgame -- this is a temporary event mini-game.
You play through it, get your fun/rewards, and then move on. Like the Soul Fighter event last year.

Exil is talking about this gamemode goong through many iterations to make it permanent, just like Arena.
Everyone has wanted a PvE League experience for years, and yet Riot makes them temporary every time.
Every game has an end to it, you can't grind forever. Thing is, what Exil failed to understand is that a lot of augments are still not yet present in the game and they have yet to be added. Which means it will have a better replayability than it already has.
Though as a temporary mode, I don't think it needs much more than that
Wow Im REALLY early here.
I'm glad it will find its fans, but I'm afraid it's still not Odyssey level imo. Never been attracted to Vampire Survivor. It just looks like another mobile game destined to please the chinese heavy mobile users. Thanks for the presentation still, Exile!

jokes aside i am excited swarm, i consider myself lucky as a new player that joined in an era where new game modes are more common(ultimate spell book, arena and swarm)
there used to be many more gamemodes in the past, but it's getting better recently than in the last years. Lookup Odyssey gamemode, Twisted Treeline, Dominion, Ascension, Doom bots etc. There were over 21 gamemodes in total looking up on the wiki.
