@@morfy2581that one would probably get pretty upsetting because it would be nearly 2 decades of trying to get the rosh spot balanced, finally getting a spot everyone and the stats show aren't too powerful for one or the other, than icefrog having a boomer moment and changing the game fundamentally, and for the worse.
There actually was a brief period around 2015 when morphling was played as an utility hero for his 4 second stun. You’d go offlane and buy stuff like euls blink and blademail Also during TI2 (and for a few years after that) Ethereal Blade damage was based on the owner’s agility even if they were a strength or an int hero
I remember that! People were going stun and support items in my pubs. It was kind of cool - probably not optimal but I was always playing at a trash enough level where the quality of heroes never really mattered 😅
Was one of my favourites at the time, pre BKBs it was like having a 10s cooldown beastmaster ult with built in blink. Used to combo it with Undying for double tombstones
In pubs it is strong, because usually the enemy team isnt a coordinated pro team, so when you engaging with that 4~5k hp you might get some of them spend a long cooldown on you while you survive to make your escape, giving a good advantage to your next tf by simply existing. And can even steal some interesting skill with morph. Optimal? Nope, and your team will report you.

honestly, clinkz made a lot more sense in his beginnings. windwalk, strafe as an attack speed steroid, fire arrow, and the ultimate being consume that gave max HP and damage.
The memories I had of this guy... the 6.83 patch notes. "Adaptive Strike stun max duration increased from 0.75/1.5/2.25/3 to 1.25/2.25/3.25/4.25" Even though I never played against it, I did go offlane Morphling a lot and even managed to get a 16 winstreek when looking back at the dotabuff(77141752) logs now. And I tell ya, that 4+ second stun was underestimated and it made many Antimages quit when they also had a replica hitting themself. Later on get an aganim, hybrid the carry, win. It was one of the best times I ever played dota, good old 2015
I think it would have been nice to take note on how dominating Morphling was during the Chengdu tournament when TNC used ES + Morph combo and won that tournament. One of the best displays of dominating carry I have seen.
You gotta understand that Morphling came to d2 after some serious nerfs in d1. Chinese teams dominated games with him, because he could safely farm for 40 minutes and then destroy anybody with high attack and a low cd shotgun. Icefrog nerfed him hard. Also his third - Morph - gave him attributes which you could morph in d1, but couldn't in d2 because it wasn't base stats for some reason. It also had made him a tiny bit weaker (6 less agi to be precise)
Now Morphling is being played as pos 4-5 more frequently using the Flow Facet. It gives Morphling 60% spell cooldown reduction when on 75% Agility Attribute Shift, the coooldown percentage goes down the more you Shift to Strength (0% at 75% Strength Attribute Shift). This makes his ultimate have zero second down-time when combined with his level 15 talent which is +16 Morph duration. Note that all abilities are effected by this CDR whether they are yours or the enemy's who you Morphed into.
I recently just saw the league of dota tournament , semi final with 1win vs liquid and boxi played morph sup.He was freaking good with hit at the point enemy team focused him as he were just a p4. Plus, i saw boxi's video about morph supp new meta, morphling can now becomne a supp
I'm reminded of a pub game where a Morphling on my team refused to level Morph. This was long before any reworks the skill had. I don't know if they were trolling or not, but they refused to listen to the rest of the team. That one person was so frustrating, that I've forgotten pretty much everything else about that match - what heroes were there, which side I was on, if we won or not, pretty much everything felt less important than asking why the hell someone would play MORPHling and not use the MORPH skill.
@@loandbaxhuku9617 I don't doubt you, though this was before Morphling had Attribute Shift, back when Morph was still a skill and his ultimate was Replicate. It would be like using his modern skillset and not leveling Attribute Shift. I'm only realizing now that I could've made that clearer, since even the modern version of Morph has had reworks.
