Was Naga the greatest because she was so contested, or was she so contested because she was the greatest? To this question, she replied thus: "Throughout the patches and map changes, I alone am the one who farms 3 jungle camps and 2 waves at the same time."

@@kyrlchristianboni5263 well i guess you're right considering other carries like Spectre, TW and Alche, i guess i was thinking of crit beasts that just shred heroes like CK, PA, and WK
Great video as always. It should be mentioned that one of the reasons she was great as a support before 7.00 is that gem of true sight worked on her illusions, so she could control the map in an oppressive way while also playing in safe positions.
I started playing Dota around two years ago but I always crafted my own builds and roles spamming stuff like Dark seer 4 and Venomancer counter-jungle but the one I had the most fun with was Naga Siren support and I got insulted a lot from the moment I picked her! Never knew she had an epoch where support was her main role, it always made sense to me with her kit and shard, I specially enjoy stacking 2 camps at the same time while staying in lane and denying enemy runes, she's the most fun I've had in Dota 2 😊
This is exactly how I felt when I would play support Alchemist. Like, hear me out guys, I focus on using concoction and acid spray to zone the enemies and ult for Regen so I don't need items to spam abilities. Then just hit.creeps later to catch up if game goes late. Makes a lot more sense then you'd think.
oh my GOD, I didn't notice this was a baumi video until wayyyy into the video. So great to see this channel creep its way into my recommended im binging the latest videos.
it's actually an interesting hero competitive-wise, it has always been meta at TI, went through a lot of changes, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it next
She is the best hero. Best looking, best concept, was the only true hyper carry in dota history for a period with radiance and before all the nerfs. She was a best. She is just awesome.
Baumi in the techies’ videos: aiu’s techies carried EG to victory on TI5 Baumi in naga’s video: aui’s naga carried EG to victory on TI5 I’m starting to sense a pattern in this videos…
2012 naga looked so broken, i cant believe what im seeing. she literally have a stronger PHANTASM on her 1st skill an arguably comparable SAVAGE ROAR for a 2nd Skill, A wet version of THUNDERCLAP on 3rd skill, AND SONG OF THE SIREN. OH MY FICKING GOD
Hi Baumi, it would be nice to mention the most contested hero as well in this circumstance at 0:44 and 1:17:23. In general, if something is in the top 3, it would be an interesting addition to mention the position(s) above it. E.g. at 1:17:31
The Zoo meta of TI11 was crushing as a Secret fan... watching them make it all the way to the finals just to be completely destroyed but Naga and Brood in a devastatingly one sided sweep
Baumi, I don't know if you already have your heroes planned for the rest of your series, but as a follower of your regular youtube channel and a fellow centaur warrunner fan, would love to see a video on the big boi
Very small nitpick for the end: make the credits not overlap with the webcam. I don't know how impactful is but it is a bit weird to see more of the webcam after all the credits have rolled out, lol
I remember a time where a first pick Naga was the most terrifying thing. Do you counter pick a Naga carry or treat it as a support? It was a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario.
Naga was one of the best dealing with old techies. Illus safely cleared green and red mines. Plus classic heart build allowed break bases mined to max.
It's a bit unfortunate Meracle was not mentioned at all for changing the way Naga is played inbetween TI3 and TI4. Aui himself called it "pre-meracle" naga and "post-meracle" naga.
All videos are kinda like that. A lot happens in-between one TI and another but with how long this videos take to make it's unrealistic to show everything although like you I would like to see more. Some Naga combo plays were insane!
My fav hero in dota 1 and eventually dota 2. I never played dota when naga was out of meta and played when she was. The satisfaction of controlling multiple illusions across the map and farming crazy and satisfying 3rd skill ability spam, reliable escape tool she was built for my kind of gameplay.
A very important detail of early ti naga is the pairing with AA. AA cold embrace was an aoe spell that buffed allied controled units with on hit damage for a few attacks. It wasnt uncommon to cast it on 5 and smoke dank the offlanereven so if the smoke break naga splits and all illusions can get buffed. That melted heroes, that's why cold had a attack speed de buff because of how it was abused. I believe broodlings could also abuse it. Naga as visage a unstoppable lane, net cold feet. Cold embrace the naga army and blow someone up with soul assumptions. Even as a support this was picked a lot to cheese an enemy aggressive triplane.
im grandmaster lvl 25 naga siren, she has been my fav hero since the old rtz and miracle (the asian guy) naga siren with radiance mid with aquila. I really have felt sad having to see my hero get nerfed in every aspect constantly. "Aui's greedy playstyle was a huge factor in earning Evil Geniuses their TI victory" Then they proceed to kick him out of the team right after and look what happened to EG after lol
i think its really silly how people went vanguard and linkens on her in 2012. Like what is the linkens for? Rubick Q? You also have ways to disjoint spells, very defensive ult and you build stats to get more tanky
I'm curious... do we actually know the actual process of patches/changes that Dota 2 goes through? Asking because I personally find it curious when Baumi uses sentences like "...until Valve decided to nerf her again." I didn't give it much thought, but for some reason I was under the (maybe wrong) assumption that the game balance changes could still be using a process similar to the original, with a single guy (like Icefrog) deciding or debating stuff with people on the forums and what not; instead of a Valve dedicated-balance team. Do we actually KNOW the current process and size of the possible team of people working on these balance changes?
Dota 2's larger audience lead to much worse feedback, Icefrog started this way for Dota 2 as well but with tens of thousands of players screaming at him for every change or thing that stayed the same he closed off entirely. I heard the chinese audience still has some insight as their forums are much more strictly controlled and thus less hateful, but I think its a black box now like most company's balance plans/teams.
On his stream I've heard Baumi talk about a conspiracy theory of balance changes switching from Icefrog balance decisions to a committee balance changes based on a change in feel/design philosophy of the balance changes. I'm not sure how serious he was about that and it was definitely a goofy stream rant not a serious and carefully researched opinion like we see in these videos.
