Alex was a great kid thrown into generational poverty. Dealt with addiction and the violence that comes with that life and decided that he could do better. What a story. ❤
i'm a brazilian and there are many stories like his in our country, unfortunately brazil is inequal since it's foundation and many people can't break the cycle of poverty and addiction that comes as a consequence. this is why i am so glad that not only he broke the cycle, he also became a champ and talks about his past issues openly -- he's a great fighter inside the cage and outside of it he's a great example of perseverance not only to brazilians but for people all around the world. i'm far from being a die hard patriot but everytime he fights he makes me so fucking proud to be a brazilian and so glad that he is out there representing us worldwide, just like when our national soccer team was in it's prime lmao. i personally relate to parts of his story and he inspires me to do the work to break my bad habits too. one of the GOATs
Alex is an inspiration to many people to continue to choose to overcome the past and pursue their dreams. There's a lot of bleakness in todays society that can pull us down and make us believe change is pointless, but here is an example that success is attainable for all of us.
Didn't know about his alcool addiction... Like you said, we're all humans at the end of the day, we just have to fight our demons, build discipline and keep following good things.
I think, the most important thing is that comes with a champinoship belt (any org, any combat sport) is you HAVE TO BE a good man. You should be a role modell. You must be. If I think about MMA champions, Fedor, Minotauro, CroCop, GSP... Serious but absolutely humble killers. There many elite fighters and athletes today in any org, but how many warriors. Poatan Alex is a mythical role model. Didnt know about his alcohol problems. I have to also deal with this demon for 15 years, but this video gave me the reason to try to be sober. Or at least, more often. Thank you for the upload man! I am reallly grateful. Thank you Alex, go and break the records. First UFC triple champ? Es koszonom Zsanett a turelmet.
Good luck! and I hope your country's health care can help you pay for doctors and meds. It's a risky move to quit on your own. I got into alcohol as I was working as delivery biker in Paris. I got bedbugs, so I was drinking to sleep and not feel them moving or biting. Paris bedbugs just evolved so it took me 8months of 300euro treatment per month to try and get rid off them at the end I just left my place and job, found nothing to bounce back (no job, no house) then it's just the street and you can't deal with it being sober (Im not Buddha) But I found an association that provided doctors and meds and helped me get into a rehab center for a month then bounced back! Now im in agriculture :D joined a thaibox gym try to keep a healthy life
God bless alex for sharing i quit drinking in the exact same way i went 1 week then a month then 3 months and kept building. Its been almost 5 years and its the best decision you can make. I also like alwx tried having 1 or 2 beer and stop but that NEVER worked. Only complete abstinence and the narrator is correct you need to find a replacement. Mine is also martial arts
Excellent video. I love how you consider that his experiences that could be perceived as negative have positively impacted his life. It’s all about the journey, not the destination.
Don’t tell people you cannot stop ANY addiction instantly, you most certain can! It’s difficult and you have to tolerate the hardship, but you don’t need motivation or help to quit anything. All you need is discipline and willpower. I’m a nobody and quit cigarettes, drinking, and weed simply by deciding so. Rehab is a mindset, don’t be any substance’s “bi*ch” and realize your self control, easier than doing something, just don’t do it 🤷🏻♂️
so um... at the end of the day, the way he came of out his alcohol addiction was still simply going "Now is the time I have to stop" and then go cold turkey - which is contrary to the point of the video?
It's all about genetics bro but even if alcohol did prevent his growth how do you know he wouldn't be like 6'7 or 6'10 if he didn't drink lol? Maybe 6'4 would be his minimum height.
You react as if this exposure to older people drinking is some rare thing. It's not. It happens on every street in America, with young kids exposed to their older brothers' drinking and older kids on the street doing it. Plus, their parents. Open your eyes. You talk like Alex was the only one.
it puts into perspective what Adesanya said: "Alex will be at a bar saying i beat that guy one time" that didnt put fire into Alex but rather fear, so he had to do something about it...and damn he did
Yes because in his country he didn’t have more options, but if he was in a first world country and he had colleges and universities he would probably had a plan B, he wouldn’t miss on them opportunities not saying he wouldn’t still be determined but he would thought of a plan B
@@lilmanq7746 man, Brazil is full of universities. Do you think we live in jungle? He was from São Paulo, the biggest city of south America. The problem is that not everyone is made for university life, not everyone was born to be a doctor or something like that.

Dude, Alex pereira is by far my favorite fighter. To have gone through so much and be as successful as he is now, everyone can look up to him and see that it’s possible to live a better life.
he is the anime character that dogbender thinks he is. Alex actually came from poverty, practiced kickboxing at a late age, became a GLORY 2-division champ, got called out by Adesanya, came to the UFC and also became a 2-divsion champ. I actually think that people hate him because he has accomplished in 2 years what they couldn't accomplish their whole career.

That redemption arc is insane, 12 years old getting Merry at the tire shop. to go on to become what he is now... Beast

Alex is the best example of how a broke drunk person can achieve big things in life when he puts his mind into
True although he was a broke drunk at a young age
He wouldnt have done all these things if he was a normal human size like said sean strickland 😂
He was already 2 division glory kickboxing champion that time

It is possible, but majority of people who stop suddenly end up relapsing because of the extremely lifestyle switch
