I remember one time in the Sims 3, I walked my character over to the neighbour's house to try and ask her out on a date. When I got there, I found an empty bowl of "Brain Freeze a la Mode" on the table, and she had turned into a zombie. So my character then had to book a taxi and go all the way across town to the elixir store and buy an anti-zombification potion, before taking that back and trying to give it to her, without getting bitten himself. After that happened, they entered a relationship.
Now that was a fucking adventure. Granted it was an adventure fueled by expansion packs, but I don't feel like any amount of expansion will help The Sims 4. The fact that every lot is separated by a loading screen makes the world feel so sterile and lifeless. In the Sims 3, you could take your dog for a walk at nighttime and witness a break in, or buy a tent and sleep in a field before befriending a fucking unicorn, because the world was one big, living, breathing world where things happened.
THESE are the sorts of adventures that you remember, that stick in your mind and make the game memorable, that really gives you an emotional bond with the characters you create. The Sims 4 doesn't offer that to me.
Yes
YES YES YES
Don't forget the occasional meteor shower (Ambitions). Just walking mah dog and suddenly "The Sky's growing dark.."
Naruku2121 I actually haven't had that happen yet, and I play this game enough! I dread the day... :D
But still, it's been a good few years and I still haven't done everything there is to do! That's a sign of a good game!

Yeah I'm still having fun with 3 mostly because I got a better PC than what I started, and I'm learning how to improve it so a lot of log issues is going away if I keep making it better.

man i hate the traits system in sims 4, for example in sims 3 if your sim had the neat trait they would clean everything, you even had the option to clean up the whole house if you click on the ground, they would be more likely to clean up their dishes and make their bed, in the sims 4 having the neat trait just makes them upset or tense if something is dirty lmfaoo
Sims 3 vs Sims 4 perfectly summed up in one paragraph. Are you thinking of getting Paralives??
YES EXACTLY. that’s why most of the time i just give my sims the same “music lover, bookworm, art lover” traits cuz i’m tired of giving them traits that just make them tense
In sims 4 you can easily g set bored because,
1. About 60% of a world like city living, you can’t explore.
2. The “personalities” that the sims have are not realistic and only make the sims even more tense.
3. Tbh the sims 4 seasons is the best pack because there is *a lot* of depth and it really looks like they spent time on this pack.
4. The jobs, you can’t even go to where the jobs are. There are only a few that you can actually play live.
5. Same with school
Basically, once EA realizes that these problems that the game has are relevant then the game will be much better but I don’t see that happening unless they open their eyes.
•_Moon Mango_• how do you get bored from point number 3?
Basically they just made it so your sim can have anxiety, instead of a personality trait.

Having played both, you're right! For me both are fun.
It's actually funny that "Dollhouse" was a codename for The Sims

I so agree with you! The Sims 4 seems so cool at first, but then you start feeling this sense of emptiness. Nothing you do really matters, or has any real impact on the game world.
All my families seem the same and it is really hard to loose yourself in the game for more than an hour.
Martin Gulbrandsen yea. At first I was angry with the graphics because ts3 looked literally human. In ts4 your sims look like cartoons. However I do like how the lighting effects the furniture and makes it look 3D and modern in a way. I just wish that they would make it an open world like ts3 cuz it was fun watching my sims roll out into town in their little cars and I have to admit ts3 could have been better in ways too like better clothing furniture and hair styles and that when you had toddlers and babies and only had one adult in the car to drive but couldn't cuz they had to hold the babies so they had to take a taxi also you could also hold one baby in the taxi. I wish there were car seats and that you could hold 2 babies at once. I also hate how the game would lag and run suuuuuppppper slow. It's annoying cuz there's so much to do in s3 but the game just doesn't work well enough for that. I wish toddlers were added to s4 they would be so adorable and I love how the babies look in the sims 4 instead of looking like a burrito.i like how children can interact with the babies in s4 and how they can get jealous of the new baby, I like that feature cuz I think every older sibling can relate to that. And I like how when you give them bottles and change their diapers you can actually see the object in the hand but I just hate how the baby is bed bound it can't be taken around the house it's only taken out of the crib just for a 5 sec interaction.
Sounds just like real life.
DemBagels toddlers are in the game now
Martin Gulbrandsen no open world,no driveable car,and etc
The Sims 4 only runs well because there's barely anything in it.
Lmao best comment ever
The Atomic Cherry true
Lmao, theres a lot of shit in it. Also, ever heard of mods?
Noodle, The Sims 3 still has a lot more shit in it base game vs. base game, expansions vs. expansions. Sims 3 had mod support too, this isn't something you should judge a game with because this comes from its player base and not from EA.
Kostas123GR2 jesus, I mean I already prefer sims 3 over sims 4, but I play sims 4 on an HP notebook and with alot of the settings on low, before you go say "YEAH BUT ALL THE SETTINGS ARE ON LOW!" well, the only packs that I don't own are toddlers, fitness pack, and jungle adventure and yet I even have the Sim quality on medium :/ and it still runs smoothly.
I THINK THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH THE SIMS 4 is that the game is predictable. That was not the case with past sims. The sims is supposed to be a simulation of every day life, and in life shit happens just random. You have a lot of control in the sims 4 and that's why is not interesting.
Predictability's the mother of boredom.
Exactly, too much control is just bleh
Wouldn't say it's a simulation of real life, but more whacky and sitcomy. But yes unpredictability is the source of tension and drama. But i guess EA sees the franchise as a wish fulfillment game these days, on account of the economy and shits
I felt like the game play was slower. Too much time micromanaging and watching mundane tasks compared to sims 2.
@Sky Dome I find Sims 3 the best balance. If the needs are critical the sim just deals with it, but the game isn't as bland as Sims 4... just walk around town and things happen, like a neighbor having a party. If you have Late Night EP you can just go to dance club and rock all night until the sun comes up.
The game fking rules.
Totally agree, when my sim's husband was cheating on her, she just stood there feeling sad and did nothing
If that happened in The Sims, The Sims 2 or The Sims 3, there would have been a big fight!
Oh that drives me mad. A) They don’t cheat unless I direct them to. In previous games, Sims would flirt autonomously and I would be surprised by their actions. B) When they do cheat, their partner just stands there with a ‘Sad’ moodlet and a very slight decrease in relationship. No anger? No fight? No heartbreak? Really? In previous games there would have been a massive bust up! It’s ridiculous.

Hell if they gave it the release price of the sims plus a bit more for expansions or maybe more easily done a “graphics expansion” that covered the general cost of redoing all the graphics to be more modern it would be so much more successful than the sims 4
Combine some aspects of sims 3 with some aspects of sims 4 (graphics, vampires, supernatural stuff in general) and you’ve got an amazing game
@Kieran W wait I thought they werent making a sims 5
They're updating the Mac version of Sims 3 which should make it more stable with extra expansions so I think that'll be the ultimate game to play
I think I've worked out why I love LGR's videos so much. He never trails to railroad anyone into his way of thinking, he simply expresses very sincerely his thoughts about a particular subject in a way that endears to almost anyone regardless of their own opinion. I feel that even if I was a major _Sims 4_ fanboy I would still have the utmost respect and validation for Clint's perspective. He is an awesome non-hateful dude, and wish more gaming youtubers and gamers in general had a little bit of his civility.
He's pretty much the only simmer on youtube I'm subscribed to, and trust enough to always go back to. He's always gonna be honest, he doesn't exaggerate his thoughts or gameplay for show, what you see is what you get.
Having not touched this franchise since The Sims 2 Deluxe Edition on PC was new until The Sims 4 PS4 during the COVID-19 era, and now going through the rest of his DLC videos to determine which packs are worth getting piecemeal when they go on sale, I have to appreciate his resigned attitude towards this iteration. His opinions towards what I am NOW sensing is the most feature-dry numbered entry is nuanced, forgoing "journalistic balanced" in favor of just a simple, honest and strictly personal assessment and personal assertiveness.
I can't appreciate the near-obligatory dick measuring attitude that seems to go with people saying The Sims 2/3 was better, which seems to plague EVERYTHING with an opinion online in the 21st century. I'm very sympathetic to their gripes (because EA can't be trusted, and franchise rot is definitely a thing), but not to the attitude with which they express them.
I'm loving my PS4 experience so far, but it's not like I don't think whatever gripes he has with The Sims 4 isn't valid because I'm having a good time. I want to think of myself as a person of nuance, so I deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeefinitely see where and why everyone has little to no respect for this entry into the franchise, as there are definitely moments where my brain has picked up on the bullshit as well. I'm with everyone in hoping that, if The Sims 5 becomes a definitive thing with the next generation of video game tech rolling around, EA allows Maxis to be Maxis, and not just another EA studio. But until then...
It's fine.
It's just fine.
Not great.
Not terrible.
Just... ehh.
I’m revisiting this review again and honestly the most fun I’ve had with the sims 4 is CAS. I could make sims for hours but then spend ten actual minutes in the game playing it. Yes, like LGR said, there were some good things about sims 4 that sims 3 missed, but at what price? There’s no real story behind the townies, everyone operates the same. I go back to the sims 3 all the time and always found myself wishing that sims 4 had this and that. Most of my hours of gameplay for this game has just been CAS, which I wish sims 3’s CAS was like that. But that’s about it. Watching this again made me sad because poor baby :( it hurt me to see him so disappointed w the game.
Reignited Light exactly my problem. I create so many Sims but then don't even play them, and when I do, I almost force myself to
It hurts so much to see all of these great improvements in The Sims 4 but have it still ultimately be a lackluster experience compared to The Sims 3. The moodlets, multi-tasking, create a Sim, and building are so good, but the fact that The Sims 4 takes steps back in almost every other aspect just ruins it.
@@sharoosh8723 exactly how i feel, livemode feels so boring that playing it feels forced

no wonder why all sims players have either become builders or CAS. we don’t really have a choice when the live mode simulation runs so lackluster. live mode feels so forced
I literally just spent 4 hours on Sims building and creating the family, I didn't even play it 😭
I enjoy CAS and building too, the gameplay bores me too fast
There is a simmer (forgot her name) that play with story/plot she made, like Cinderella who struggle living her life while dealing with her younger brother and her evil sister and so on.. but the way she played the plot it's like she need to micromanaging every step/every interaction so it could reach the goal of the story, and not letting the Sims itself working by their traits, the story is fun but she need to micromanaging everything that is very noticeable and kinda meh, just like a doll house xDD.. I'm watching from her short video btw there is a few part of em
I'd be happy if they took Sims 3, upgraded it with features from Sims 2. Having the graphics of sims 4.
Done. Perfect game. Without rabbitholes ofc.
I know this is too much to ask, but still...
omg u are on to something!!
that's what sims 5 should be like!!
I'm sure there are some mods that can add in certain things from the sims 2 into 3, and the graphics are barely any better in the sims 4, other than having a smoother aesthetic and looking a bit cartoonier, so I'm sure there are texture mods that can help you there.....
I want rabbit holes, so long as you also have the option to go into the majority of them. Actually having to follow your sim to work all the time would make the game too linear, and I also want to be able to have professions like in Sims 3 that mostly take place outside in the town rather than in one static location.
No one Nowhere I mean you'd be able to see them but work would be automated, so you could follow them if you wanted to, but it wouldn't be necessary, sorta.
Hey, guess what?
It's over a year later and we're in almost exactly the same position.

Okay but can we talk about the damn prices of these expansions that seem like they should have already been in the base game?
Thats more a problem with the entire series though, the expansions have always been expensive.
its just expansive
@@ryan-wn1qu Eh, not quite. Go back to Sims 2 and 3 and you'll see some things were part of the base game. Sims 4 just chops up each pack from sims 2 and 3 and sells each part and content it into several different expansions. So technically we're paying more with the sims 4 than the previous series just to get the same content from previous games
Pretty disappointing how at 5.5 years 90% of things said in this video still hold up. So little improvement has been made 😔
I honestly don't know how EA managed to fuck up such a successful franchise. I mean, I play The Sims since the first one, when I was only about 8 years old, and loved it ever since.. Up until The Sims 4. Taking out the open world? No pools or cars within the game release? No freaking cars TWO YEARS after the release? And that build mode? It was so advertised, but just COME ON... No terraforming?? No lakes, no constrain floor elevation, no mountains? And where the hell is all of that fun I had matching textures from items from different sets, just to get the room looking as I wanted it to be? I mean, I still play The Sims 3, even though I've got all of Sims 4 packs downloded and installed, just because it's way more fun to build and play all by itself. I feel like absolutely ALL of The Sims previous games were in a much, MUCH more advanced level than this one on their two-year anniversary. That is just a shame. Here's for hoping The Sims 5 comes soon and as a better, or if I may say, a GOOD game. And RIP The Sims 4.
Wait, there's no building cheats? No constrainfloorelevation? No terraforming? Are you kidding me?! That's ridiculous...we already lost CAS.
No man, there's none of that. I love building in The Sims, I do that even more than I play the simulation at all, and without terraforming, constrainfloorelevation, texture editing and all of the great features they had since The Sims 2, or even The Sims 1 (even that had the terraforming tool) all of the builds in TS4 look really similar, there is currently no way of making a truly unique build, it's just ridiculous. And the tools that they introduced are messy and glitchy as fuck. I still enjoy Sims 3 way more than Sims 4, and I don't see that changing in the future.. I can only hope that Sims 5 will fix all of that and bring back that magic and fun of the series, from simulation to building!
Bruno G. Lopes
That's insane! I'm the same way, I'll spend hours a day making houses I've seen in real life or in my head. Love all the customization. I'll actually play the life simulation part for maybe an hour in the house I worked so hard on. I've just now started using the constrainfloor cheat and currently screw it up everytime, but I'm learning and I like that such powerful cheats are available, even if it takes practice. What a disappointment, I guess I'll cross my fingers for TS5.
Yes man! Fingers crossed here too! My advice is for you to stick to Sims 3, I regret every single cent I've spent with TS4!

I'm downloading the free 48 hour trial, I almost bought it but looked on here and decided to try it first. Wish you could get your money back though!
The most scathing indictment of Sims 4 is how my friends' daughter went back to playing Sims 3 on LAUNCH day of the Sims 4. I walked in the room to ask her how the game was and my jaw dropped. "You're playing Sims 3!?"
She said, "M'eh. This is more fun."
comparing apples (S3 with many expansion packs) to oranges (S4 base game)
+xfusee 1.) both are fruits and fruits are inherently comparable 2.) the sims are both apples as they are trying to achieve the same gameplay, so you very much can compare and contrast.
+TheHolyFox123 No, the correct way back then would be comparing the sims 3 base game (No expansions) with the sims 4 base game.
if she was playing base game that wouldn't give others the excuse of saying expansions so let me say I reinstalled my copy of base sims 3 after trying sims 4 (2 generations of two different families) and I felt like I got more out of 3 with exploring, parties, making friends, stealing stuff, creating and playing the sims. Really all that sims 4 has to offer is a better house building.
Basic Sims 3 with no expansions was still more fun than Sims 4. I know. I played it with no expansions for years, and to this day I still only use Late Night and Ambitions.
I've been a simmer since the first Sims 1 came out when I was 10. Loved every single game and was so excited for 4. Didn't want to admit how disappointed I was until the latest expansion came out, and I realized how empty everything felt. It looks pretty and clean and well thought out (kinda), but it was pretty saddening. I have concluded that maybe aside from Seasons or Pets (and probably not even then), there's no real hope for Sims 4 to get to the level of Sims 3 or any previous game. I finally went back to Sims 3 after 2 years of trying Sims 4. Hopefully a Sims 5 will still be possible... and will bring back what we loved about the Sims.

Bernhardina Hörnstein wow!! That's such a good point u made. I never even thought of that. Maxis has really lost their touch when it comes to what the players want for the sims. It's like they don't care. They just give us the same random shit, overcharge for it and then just expect us to be happy with it and to keep buying or, as they put it, "If we don't make x-amount of money, there WONT be a sims 5". My problems with the sims series is all the expansions and packs. The game is ridiculously expensive if you want everything. It's like the game is all split up and you don't get a full game without emptying your pockets.
i dont know if this is an option for you, but i got the whole sims 3 set on ebay. idk if what they do is even legal, but i buy the origin codes off ebay for like, not even a 3rd of the price. the highest rated ones are usually more expensive, but i got the base game and pets together for less than £20, and i recall buying showtime for £3. its soooo much cheaper than spending £200+ on the full set, and it doesnt really matter now since sims 4 is out so not many people actually go out and buy sims 3 anymore :)
TheNellehFox I bought all but one expansion pack from g2a.com There were some that only cost a little over a dollar and the most expensive one I bought was six dollars. Not sure what the prices are now because they change depending on who's selling them but they were all EXTREMELY cheap on there.

I think there's one thing that's absolutely terrible about The Sims 4: the way it handles worlds/neighborhoods. Not only you can't create your own, but you also can't customize the existing ones in any way. You can't add or remove lots, you can't add/change deco and trees, nothing. It's literally how TS1, a game released almost 20 years ago, handled neighborhoods. Probably the biggest and most offensive downgrade.
Nahuel yeah, you had so much more customization for the neighborhoods in sims 2...
That is a really good way to put it. And why this video's title is so accurate. Its just... meh. It's not *bad* but it's not good and its certainly not as good as past Sims. Its just disappointing all over, regardless of the fact that there's like a million expansion and game packs since this... yeah. just sad lol
The tasteless game
@@veertjebeertje13 modder disappoint don't care about the sims 2 adding into the future done
I know I'm coming in late, but I just want to say, you hit the nail on the head when you said it's like eternal god mode rather than a life simulator.
I enjoyed and employed a frankly obscene amount of cheats and mods in TS3, but part of that enjoyment was that even if I cheated, I HAD to do something extra to make things ridiculously easy. Sims could die, they could go broke, *accidents happened* even when you paid close attention. The game wasn't hard, but it also wasn't something where you could just leave it (unmodded) to run for five hours and expect to come back to anything but a major crisis. TS4, I leave it running all the time. I have to because it takes forever, but even then, after leaving my sims unattended--there are no fires, there were no fights, there were no accidents; they didn't go to work but also NOTHING UNEXPECTED HAPPENED.
Nothing!
There is no sense of the random in 4. There is no wonder, there is no watching sims live their lives with a little nudge. The traits don't seem to close any roads, only make some (already easy) paths easier. The emotions COULD pose major obstacles or provide major benefits, but as you said, it's absurdly easy to manipulate them. Even after the DEATH of a CHILD, a sim is no sadder, really, than you want them to be.
And as you said, it can take FIVE HOURS for them to get through a meal. Parties with goals are nigh impossible because it takes them SO LONG to DO anything.
It's all just very frustrating. I wanted to adore this game, but every time I drag myself back, telling myself to give it another chance, it just feels like so many animations and as you said, window dressing without depth. The world doesn't change. Your sims don't matter. Their relationships and businesses and jobs don't matter. What they do doesn't matter.
It all looks very clean, it looks polished. But if I wanted a dollhouse I'd get one.
Ellie B. Well said
I like the risk in TS2. You go to work, a chance card appears and then BAM, you're fired.
"if I wanted a dollhouse I'd get one." So much TRUTH!!
You guys are likely waaay too young to recall but it is like The Sims was "Times Square'd." .. Back in my youth, Times Square in NYC was a hell hole of nasty .. these days it is clean, safe and boring as hell. Disney-fied, if you will. Well Sims 4 "disney-fied" the Sims franchise and I hate it. It is the old sims games for me or nothing. But .. as I explained previously, I will buy it on the off chance EA pulls its head out of its butt in the next version. (*insert "Dreamer" by Supertramp here*) Ya .. I know .. I am an idiot. ; )
Wil Moore Too young and also in a completely different country, but yes, I get you entirely. Personally, these days I only boot up ts4 if I want to play around in build mode for a little while.
I love the sims 3 way more than sims 4, but I got into sims 3 right after into the future was released. Sims 4 released, and by then, I had a lot of hours in sims 3. I picked up sims 4 and it was just... boring. Nothing happened, my attention kept waning and waning until it was just gone. I kept telling myself that "the next expansion will make it better", but it never did. I'm done with sims 4 until right before 5 is released, at which time, I will go on a shopping spree for all the expansions and game packs, and if it still sucks, I will not expect any better from sims 5.
I agree with everything you said, and I'll add this - TS4 wants you to play in a very specific way. The backdrops that you can't remove, the public spaces you can't edit, the constant, CONSTANT messages from randos demanding that your sim go out and have fun; iit's a very This Is What Millenials Like, Right? game, and it lacks the flexibility that made me love this series so much.
I can't play a Build a City Challenge; I can't build a town from scratch; the emotions the devs boasted so much about make every sim have the same personality. I've been playing TS2 since it first came out, and I've only recently started getting tired of it, because it allowed to me try challenges, design towns, plan town stories. I got bored of TS4 within two weeks.
It prioritizes useless shiny stuff that the PR department demanded because Millenials Love Selfies over substantial gameplay. That's what I was worried about back before the game came out, heavily marketing the Bro trait and making all the trailers as Lulzy and Meme-y as they could, and it saddens me to say that that's exactly the game we got. Lackluster gameplay, a bunch of marketing gimmicks.
This game isn't designed to be played as long as TS2 and TS3. It's primary targets aren't the people who have played the previous installments, but people who will see a funny trailer, buy the game and play it for two days setting everything on fire and making everyone make out, and then forget about it. There's nothing wrong with playing like that, and there's nothing wrong with wanting the investment to pay off, but do players like that return to buy more expansions and stuff packs? Will they keep the fanbase alive by creating custom content (and thus improving the overall experience without any work on the devs' part), sharing their enthusiasm, and writing stories? It's a short-sighted policy, laser-guided by PR specialists who haven't talked to their kids directly in three years, and it's detrimental to the game, the devs, and the players. I honestly hope this installment is done with soon, I'm ready to give TS5 the benefit of doubt.
Or, hell, just remake TS2 with nicer graphics. I'd buy the hell out of that.

the only improvement sims 4 made to the series is the camera, after playing the sims 4 its hard to go back to using the sims 3 camera
2021 update: 7 years of meh!
The Sims 4 should be The Sims 3 and The Sims 3 should be The Sims 4.
Red Quarter agreed
my sentiments exactly :'(
Yep
The sims 3 was the best game and should stay the way it is. Sims 4 should get better cause sims 4 sucks
The PhoenixXtreme I don’t think that what he meant....
The sims 4 is great for someone who hasn't played sims. However, since started with the sims 3 and own most of the expansion packs already, the sims 4 is a major downgrade. Maybe I'll get the expansions if they go on sale but currently it's just too much of an investment for not much content
Indeed. Been playing the series since 2000.
I started on Sims 4 because it was new. I wanted to play Sims for the longest time. But it was too cartoony to me. So it was just a thought. I do like Sims 4, but after watching videos of Sims 3 open world I was looking forward to that. So that's the most disappointing thing to me.
Truth! You put my thoughts into words well.
It's the perfect introduction. Not as overwhelming in content size, runs much better, is much easier on the eyes, and is so much more "alive" with the new animations and emotions. Although, the lack of depth obviously also really hurts it in the long run.
i started with the sims 3 for the xbox 360 and i think that the sims 4 would be a major downgrade because it cut out a ton of features, made party's into a chore, and got rid of open world when they could obviously do it
To me Sims 4 feels like im caught in the purgatory doing the same every single day
Lia Valencia does feel that way
For me, what the Sims 4 really lacks is the quirks that made the other games. It's like the Stepford Wives of the Sims world, everything is too perfect, nothing goes wrong. It was so hard to keep your Sims alive in the other series, or to keep relationships up etc. In Sims 4 promotions are too easy, every character seems like the same character despite having different traits, skills are too easy to gain, and there's no character and no challenge. Your house feels so isolated in the Sims 4, there's no random events good or bad. The game is just bland. Thank god for the Seasons and Dine Out packs otherwise this game would be unplayable for me.
Also, Thank you for keeping your integrity and posting honest Sims reviews.
I agree. Little things like being a technophobe or never nude goes a long way on making Sims more unique. Bring back Hydrophobia. Bring back Absent-mindedness. Or clumsiness. Or cowardness. Or basically the whole Trait system of Sims 3. Because most of Sims 4 "traits" are just emotion-changers and moodlet poppers 🙄.
@@kiillabytez It also feels less like a life simulation because it's easy as balls and it feels like nothing has consequences.
in sims 3 you paid 60$ for supernatural got 6 life states, a town , a career, tons of clothes, tons of decór, plants, and intricate magical abilities
In Sims 4 you pay 20$ for 1 life state (vampires), a few clothes, a little decor, and nearly the same gameplay abilities that you had in 3.
I feel like they purposely make these expansion packs empty so that you thirst for the next one.
and in the sims 3 you get *chaaiiirrrrrssss*
Mak@5 Supernatural was 20$
Knowing EA, I wouldn’t be surprised
That's why they make Vampires a game pack and NOT an expansion pack. It was never intended to be like supernatural or they would have called it supernatural. They made it a game pack because you are paying for less content.
@@morganbauer5238
That's the problem. A lot of these game packs that were previously entire expansions are now watered down and simplified versions of their Sims 3 counterparts. Although they are cheaper, it does mean we miss out on a lot of content over time. Even expansions themselves lack the depth that Sims 3 ones had. Look at the Pets expansion vs Cats and Dogs, for example. Even the title shows the dumbing down and oversimplification of the Sims 4 iteration.
It feels like it's a watered down or washed down version of The Sims 3.
I %100 agree.
+CherryPie 100%*
More like a pale, watered down imitation of The Sims 2 by people who didn't understand the game. It wouldn't surprise me if there was a lot of executive meddling from EA (as a result SC 2013 bellyflopping, partly because of executive meddling) and too much reliance on focus groups
Sims 2,3 are the best of the series
Its more like a modern Sims 1 without some of the fun stuff of the Sims 1.
It has elements of both sims 2 and 3 but I think its more like Sims 1.
Can you please design Sims 5?
Just go in there, kick them all up the butt and tell them what's what.
We didn't need sims 4, we needed performance issues being fixed in sims 3 and those rabbit holes removing.
Yes! I would like Sims 5 to be a redo of Sims 3, debugged. They should have just built on it. It had potential, 3 was just super glitchy and laggy.
I hope Sims 5 or other upcoming brands would shift back to life simulation again like in the previous games especially the Sims 2 and 3. Sims 4 just feels like a Facebook game to me.
Lily He just giving the sims 3 a new skin, new graphics would be rlly lame. Every sims game is unique. For example ts3 didnt have parenting skills or any depth into parenting whil ts4 had exactly that
"feels like i'm looking at an unfinished theme park" this hits different years later with the star wars game pack
I'm still playing Sims 3, and I only have one expansion pack for it, that's how good I think it is. I haven't even touched Sims 4, simply because the fact that they took away the open world is infuriating. The open world of the Sims 3 makes everything feel alive. Being able to follow your sim to work, the park, their neighbor's house, etc., without every leaving the game is great. They just needed to expand on that, possibly by making it so that you control your sim while they are at work, and keep life going without having to wait around for them to be playable, again.

Same I haven't bothered getting sims 4 even though I would love to play at building and sim creator it's not work £50 ish for me to justify buying it. I love sims 3 sometimes I play with only 1 or 2 expansions and still find it enjoyable

this would be amazing... Like just knowing that ANYONE you see on the street you could start a relationship with...sick man. A game like that will totally happen in the future though, games will just get better and better aaaand better :)
have you not played sims 3??
Agreed!
I honestly agree with this, this is something I want. that and maybe a first person sims game.
2020: this is going to be six years of meh. How are they going to butcher the 20th anniversary of the Sims?

not gonna lie, you're straight up adorable and i love you and your videos a lot. i'm a simmer, (strictly, i don't have the time or money for any other games, or interest for that matter), so naturally i've watched all of your sims videos, a dozen times over. i just really appreciate your snark and sarcasm, it's incredibly refreshing to see honest reviews. especially on the Sims 4 topic, i agree with everything you said. I might try and ask EA to cease sales of TS4.
Yeah right? "Maybe it's not you, It's me. I think I have changed..No, you have changed and I don't like you as much as I did."
Am i the only who prefers the graphics in sims 3? Sims 4 looks way childish and cartoonish.
Oo K I'm still with the Sims 3 😊
You're not the only one who feels like this Clint, I don't play TS4 anymore and I've switched back to TS3.
Some features I like, but it's nothing compared to TS3, I missed the customisation, toddlers and about a million other things that TS4 lacks.
Edit: I watched until the end (maybe I should have done anyway before commenting) and I couldn't agree with you more. It pains me slightly because Sims has been a huge part of my life growing up.
name 2 more things ts4 lacks.
open world, vehicles...
TheFodFairy I dont see how the open world or vehicles have much of an impact on the game besides cosmetics, im talking about substance, like pools, which are in the game now, camping, which is in the game now, ghosts, which are in the game now. And all those other things that are new, like the lack of rabbit holes, you can go in any building nothing is a rabbit hole anymore, even a good amount of the jobs are no longer rabbit holes with the expansion., But that is just my opinion.
Well we'll agree to disagree then because TS4 just doesn't cut it for me in terms of what I want in a Sims game.
+TheProgrammer.
Burglars, butlers, boarders, zombies. Paparazzi, the daily newspaper and mail delivery. Spiral staircases. The Fair and the eating contest and all the booths. More traits and Sim interactions. The way you sometimes had to put your butler in his place when he often started taking over care of the baby. There's a lot more.
I’m happily married with the sims 3. No regrets… 11 years playing it and I’m still in love with it.
They keep saying that if the sales for sims 4 don't improve,we won't get a sims 5. but the sales for ts4 are awful because EA hasn't given us anything we want or anything useful. How are sales supposed to improve enough for another game if the fans aren't getting any of the content we've been asking for and aren't getting any hints as to if we're ever going to get it?
Not to mention some content that we enjoyed was taken away
Exactly! I played Sims 2 & Sims 3 for years. But I won't spend my money on Sims 4. It's not worth the amount of money! You spend hundreds of dollar for all packs & dlcs & get nothing special for it..
Exactly! They're making us feel guilty so that we buy their garbage, but maybe if they listened to us and produced something that isn't complete and utter shit we WOULD!
UnknownPenguin no it isn't. since you eat for hours with your sim, when you're multitasking.
Holding our beloved series hostage. This may be the end for sims, but have hope. There is another simmer out there who is ready to make a clone. A sims clone with all we ever dreamed of.
so, can we expect a "three years of meh" video these days? :P
I wish :(
Now 4 years of meh
atur chomicz it's not September so still 3 years of meh.
its been 4 years and they still havent released seasons
iare eeeh it'll probably be the last one they release
I've had Sims 3 since it released. I didn't buy that many expansion packs as they released over the years because I was still a kid and they were expensive. I got the Sims 4 about two years ago. I'd like to mention I don't have any additional packs for that game whatsoever. I created my family, bought a house, and let them work their way up from poverty into wealth. I played this game for 100 hours. I loved it at first. It ran so much better, the furniture finally looked modern, I loved the character creation and Sims could finally multitask. But then over time, my female Sim got more kids and she got older. A son of hers reached adulthood and kept the family afloat. He got married. And I just realized the exact same thing that was said in the video, everything feels like it's the same. The Sims might look wildly different from each other, but they're all the same. Everything was the same neat and grey mush where you could do no wrong but nothing truly exciting ever happened.
Now, very recently, I upgraded my gaming rig and a few days ago I bought the majority of Sims 3 expansion packs (they're so cheap now man, they're all like 5 bucks each). I moved my Sims into the town you get with University life and so far I'm in love. Yeah, Sims cant multitask and it kinda sucks, but they can actually do things. Whenever I try and expand my house I get overwhelmed with all the possibilities laid out before me. Sims 3 has so much more personality, and I say this as someone who couldn't stand the game when it first came out. I'm a sucker for good graphics (I have a PS4 as well, and when I first got my PC I started up witcher 3 on both of them, got really close to my 4k TV, and spent a good 5 minutes switching back and forth marveling at the differences (I could literally count every single hair on Geralt's head)), but unfortunately, there only so much good graphics can do when the rest is just meh all around.
What kinds of possibilities were there that were different from Sims 4? When I watch playthroughs of Sims 3 it looks like the same game.
@@willp.484 For one, sims 3 has more life to it. With story progression, sims you're not even controlling can get married, have kids, move to a new house or a new neighborhood. Sims 3 traits give your sims *actual* personality. In sims 4, traits are kind of pointless. A non-committal sim in sims 4 can still get married. Meanwhile, in sims 3, it takes actual work to get a non-committal sim to fall in love with you. Earning money in sims 3 is actual work. Relationships decay in sims 3, so keeping with relationships also takes work. When a sim cheats on their spouse in sims 3 (and sims 2 for that matter) sims actually react. Cheating felt like it had actual consequences in past sim games. In sims 4, a sim is upset about cheating for 24hrs, and then they're over it.
Cheating in sims 3 gave your sim a cheating reputation, which made it hard for your sims to get into a new relationship. Sims 3 sims started actual rumors of things that actually happened (you'll get a pop up like "did you hear Don cheated and got another woman pregnant?") these rumors had an actual impact on your sims reputation. It also made everything in the world feel more alive.
Breaking up a family in Sims 3 was actually hard. It took me *days* to get a married sim to leave their spouse. Sims 4 sims flirt with everyone, no problem, even if they're married. I want hooking up with a married sim or a sim in a relationship to be a challenge.
Expansion packs actually expanded the game, rather than add superficial things you'll get bored with in a day. Sims 3 Generations alone added so much into the game: prom for teens, the daycare career, treehouses. I couldn't even list them all if I tried because there's so much. It makes Parenthood feel so empty in comparison.
Hell, base game sims 3 had over 60+ traits. By the time sims 3 ended, it had over 90 traits. Sims 4 only has over 30. In 6 years.
Sims 3 sims felt alive. Sims 4 sims feel like robots. Nothing bad ever happens to you in sims 4. No burglars, no meteors that fall from the sky and kill your sims. In sims 3, a sim in the criminal career could actually get arrested. That was funny as hell. Spontaneous events never happen in the sims 4 unless you *make* it happen, which gets so boring after a while. Fires don't even feel as deadly anymore. It's all too easy.
Exactly, the Sims 3 felt alive and organic in a way the Sims 4 never did.
It was rewarding to pursue most of the skills, careers, relationships in the game. Traveling felt like an actual break from the everyday, exploring also had a sort of magic to it. Collecting things felt like something to properly take pride in, and there were so many fun ways to mix it up when one play style started to feel dull. Live mode was actually fun, build mode and CAS were laggy as hell but they had some of the best customization of any game in the genre. So much freedom to be had with the textures and color wheel.
The sims themselves never suffered from the same-y-ness I found when I tried the Sims 4. They all felt like individuals and I liked watching their lives play out.
I admittedly never much messed with the stuff packs after seeing in the Sims 2 that they only added style things, because there was already an abundance of custom content I could add that was (im my opinion) more satisfying.
But the Sims 3 expansion packs almost always made the game feel layers on layers richer. I remember being so excited each time a new one came out and nothing to this day has managed to replicate that feeling.
I grew up with the franchise, and I've played darn near every title they released under the Sims branding (including console titles). Loved the Sims 2, played both that and the original Sims as a kid. Really these games have been like family to me.
That's why it's kinda hard to look at now. Nothing has disappointed me more than the Sims 4. Unfortunately with the way it stands even in 2021, it looks unlikely they'll surpass their peak with the Sims 3 anytime soon.
Also if you read all that I'm gonna drop (what I believe to be) an unpopular opinion: The Sims Medieval wasn't the game most of us wanted but it was a pretty decent game in it's own right.
(Edited for a couple of typos)
I cannot accept when they remove basic things like toddlers and pools from the base game. I don't care if they add them later, the fact that they feel the need to exclude those things and make us pay for them later is unacceptable. It shows the complete lack of good will. And like you said, the devs might want to talk about it but can't.
It pains me to agree with this. I am really, really disappointed with how the Sims 4 turned out, especially after how amazing it was made to look. Like most people, I'm super mad they still haven't included toddlers.
The Sims 3 will always be the best in my opinion.
Yeah... TS4 is definitely NOT a TS2 remake.
What! There's still no toddlers?! i haven't been interested in sims4 ( loved the other ones ) at all so i didn't know. wow iv'e lost hope... The fact that they said that if sims4 wasn't a success there wouldn't be a sims 5 seems to mean that this is as good as it gets
+Charlotte I think that whole "won't be a sims 5" thing was an empty threat. They wanted fans to buy and support their product...it was a lousy move on their part because now nobody likes the pos sims 4 game and subsequently cares whether sims 5 will get made or not..
+Mercilex TS2 remake with enhancements will be overwhelmingly successful... Unlike TS4's state.
+Alethia Haryanti Yup, my suggestion to a possible Sims 5: make it basicaly like Sims 2 and add the best of the others.
The Sims need competition. Right now would be the best time for that competition to come in. I know there has to be some developer's willing to do this. I mean look at second life, its highly realistic looking and I don't have the best computer but it still runs fine and it has more to offer. I want a Sims game like that in a way. Its just like the technology exists but they're worried about not everyone being able to play because they're computer might not be able to handle it. I look at is as If people are paying all this money for expansion and stuff packs. I'm sure they can save up money to get a computer that will run the game. I really hope they cut the Sims 4 short, because so many people are so upset with it.
You are right about the need for more competition. I do not see many realistic simulation games like the sims on the market. The market would be better if there were more simulation and tycoon games. EA stock over the past two years has grown by 115% even though their company has a lack of stability.
GimpGirl1 Well I want to be a developer. Perhaps I could meet your request once I am skilled enough.
Be sure to add toddlers and you'll have one guaranteed buyer (me).
What's stopping you XD
I actually am one, I can work on it with you...
Programming and anything to do with technology really is a growing field. I'm positive there's programmers and graphic designers that will be able to pull something off. Games are getting more complex and realistic looking each year.
I just hope someone sees the opportunity to give the sims a run for their money because there are people willing to dish out a good amount of money for a game like the sims. I mean hell look at imvu and second life. Those creators are making a shit load of money and its the fans that do most of the creations (Clothes, animations, etc.
Just think of a game that could be both offline and online play that had a mixture of ideas from online worlds such a second life and ideas from the sims. Id buy it in a heart beat because i'm sick of EA bullshitting us with sims 4.
November 2018: TS4 STILL is a lackluster experience. They've added a lot of content, but the game itself is just lacking in depth on a fundamental level. No amount of content can fix such a broken foundation. I've tried really, really hard to get into TS4, but I just can't. I kinda hate it. The Sims as a franchise has so much potential, and I believe they're not working hard enough to give us the best experience. I've no hope TS5 will be any better, so I guess I have to settle for the older games, which are still very enjoyable, though sadly we won't get any more content.
People are saying wait for Sims 5, but honestly at this point I don't think there WILL be a Sims 5. Sims 4 barely scrapped by on profits, they have lost a lot of fans, and just the fact that nobody is really excited about the game anymore. If they DO make a Sims 5, then there's more than just adding stuff that was missing from previous games. They need to change their whole mindset. The Sims is a sandbox LIFE SIMULATION game, peppered with bits of quirky humour that keeps the game from being too heavy WITHOUT overwhelming players. And I feel like they have changed their course over the years, starting with Sims 3's World Adventures, with the linear quests that's reminiscent of RPG-style games. They are no longer listening to their fans, they are no longer adding content that are relevant to expanding the game's core gameplay - instead they're relying heavily on novelty factors, for example Katy Perry's Sweet Treats and Into the Future.
And then came the Sims 4. Its emphasis on quirkiness and humour almost seems like it is deliberately making itself a laughingstock. We never asked for rockets in our backyard, or sims who go prancing around just because they saw a colourful painting. Quirkiness is awesome in certain doses - in previous games, it was refreshing, a distraction that keeps the seems from being too serious. It's subtle and often hidden, leaving players to discover them. But now it has taken centre stage and I find it hard to take Sims 4 seriously at any level.
Unless EA changes this mindset - dumbing down the game so it would appeal to a more general target audience, and relying on novelty factors in hopes that it will keep the audience seated (and it doesn't, not after the initial curiosity has been sated), then I don't see how they can handle another sims game without completely destroying the series. I'd rather not see them do it.
Not with the direction they're going.
raras889 You express exactly how I feel!
They just need to get their shit together and fire whoever did the market evaluation and hire somebody that knows how to see what the fans want!
And we want basically The Sims 2 with the very best stuff from 3 and 4!
I get that argument but if they just went back to what we had before... they make crap tons. I don't know who took over but bring back the other people.
Also I would go sit with them for free and tell them what fans want... as I've been playing for 17 years at this point and I feel like they miss the simplest shit.
L S Same, dude!
In my opinion the sims 3 is the best 👍🏻💖
Yes!!! I still play it, I was playing it yesterday 😊
It's definitely my favourite, but the lagginess when you have too much stuff installed just kills it for me sometimes.
Yeah, Sims 3 is wonderful until it chokes to death and stops working.
The console versions are entirely different beasts from the PC versions (that LGR's reviews generally cover), since the amount of expansions you can have installed over the base game make the whole thing absurdly huge and compound bugs upon bugs.
Sims2 was absolutely the best!
Just a reminder to everyone: Old games still work, and they're free, because you own them already. Just play Sims 1, 2, and 3. They're complete and have only some disappointments. Sims 4 is nothing new - save your money for food. New games can be fun, but if you've kept most of every game you ever bought, you're sitting on many hours of enjoyment. Some may be boring, but you'd be surprised at how many can still suck you in for hours, or even get you re-addicted.
Good Old Days Gaming SUPPORT!
Good Old Days Gaming Also, the older Sims games are cheaper too and they offer way more fun and memorable expansion packs
That's true but Sims 1 and Sims 2 are hard as hell to get your hands on.
As someone who first only played sims freeplay on phone and whose first real sims game was sims4, i have to admit that i regret buying sims 4, i wish that instead had bought sims3, it seems so much more "alive"
Fastforward 2020 and a legitimate, non disc, digital version of Sims 2 is very hard to get. Well, I did get a pirated one nonetheless but got a virus trying to fix the errors after. The gameplay was great, but having it cut off from me because of the errors that proceeded it made it really sad for me.
I got into the Sims series really late and unfortunately didn't get it on origin while it was still there. (I started with Freeplay in 2013, Mobile in 2018, then TS3 last year and TS2 this year.)
Sims 3, I was able to cop.. and worked surprisingly well! I came across error code 13 once and a couple crashes, but still works with the decent specs I have.
The Sims 4 is like, if you were to order a Hamburger and got two buns and a slice of cheese instead. But you can buy all kinds of extras to your meal like a glas half full of coke, half done fries, or a salad lacking seasoning. Sadly that doen't change the burger you got.
As a hardcore Simmer, I came into the game playing the first Sims. I grew up playing that and then the Sims 2, and eventually the Sims 3 came out when I was a young teenager. I played the Sims 4 for three days after it came out, and I uninstalled it and never played it again. To me, the biggest thing was the lack of forward momentum. Like you said, with each new Sim game it felt like there was some huge new addition (Sims 2 was the 3D world, Sims 3 was the open world, etc.), but the Sims 4 just felt like we were taking a giant step back. If Sims 3 hadn't had the open world, maybe the Sims 4 wouldn't feel like such a weak game, but EA can't give us an open world and then take it away in the next game. I was and still am very disappointed in the Sims 4, but I hope that maybe someday they'll come out with a bigger and better game that has all the things I love from previous Sims games with some kind of new progression and immersive and deep gameplay.
I don't think the open world is the problem. Or the lack of it. Because you have advantages of not having an open world: it's not that heavy for your computer because it doesnt have to load everything at once so it becomes less laggy. With an open world you have the advantage of not having loading screens and you can go literally anywhere. I never played much of the Sims 3 so I don't mind not having an open world as I'm used to the Sims 2, and the loading screens arent that long (unless your computer is really REALLY bad!).
Another thing I hated about the "open-worldness" of Sims 3 when I tried it a lot of years ago is that all your sims age at the same time! And it felt I was missing on a lot of stuff of other sims lives, while I was playing with another family. At least in Sims 4 you can turn off that feature.
The differences between 2 and 3 made me confused and not like the base game of the Sims 3 (which was the one I tried at the time). Also, the babies were wrapped in a towel like a burrito, and I thought that's stupid too xD
Now there's some awesome stuff that Sims 3 has that 2 doesnt (the customization was insane! And horses! xD)! And I was really hoping Sims 4 would be The Sims 2 with the best of Sims 3...
My original problem w/ the Sims 4 still stands today. It feels like a more polished version of the Sims 2. The Sims 2.5 if you will. Because the Sims 3 added so many game changing features such as Create-a-Style and the open game world. Those were two landmark features that were great improvements to the series. And without those things, the Sims 4 felt like a HUGE step backwards.
And the Sims 4 has yet to offer a decent tradeoff for those features. We lost the open world and CASt, but what did we get instead? Talking to other sims while watching TV? Sims' moods being affected by the type of lamp in their office? A tiny, segmented and ugly game world? None of the "features" of the Sims 4 are worth sneezing at, at least in my opinion.
And sure it might be a bit fun at first, but when all the shine quickly wears off, what's left?
Sims 2 base game was better then sims 4 base game
More like Sims 0 because it has fucking nothing in the base game compared to any other base games, let alone with the expansions added to it. Idk about the first Sims (because I haven't played it), but the Sims 2 and 3 definitely crush the Sims 4 by a landslide.
Sims 2 had WAY more content then Sims 4. And honestly, I like that they got ride of the open world, while it was nice at first, the open world was very unstable and was kinda buggy even on high end machines, still, I would rather play sims 3 than this
As an avid Sims 2 player, who has tried all the games extensively, Sims 2 is definitely more meaningful, fleshed out and overall better than Sims 4
FACTS its like slightly better than TS2 and WAY worse than TS3
This is exactly what I have been thinking! I just can't stay invested into Sims 4 and it kinda bums me out I miss getting just lost in a simulated world. But lately I have have have just been going back to Sims 3 until something changes
it's also sad when Sims free play has more potential and content than Sims 4 😑
Yeah, I kind of get tired of momentarily getting excited when sims 4 DLC go on sale, and then I actually look at what I would spend my money on.... and it doesn't feel justified. I bought the restaurant DLC for full price and still got bored in a few days... I finally got City Skylines on sale this weekend even though I was never super into Sim City. I feel way more obsessed with City Skylines... and I can't even put my finger on why? Or what makes it so different than Sim City? I dunno, but it was worth way more than the $7.50 I paid for it... and I ended up getting the After Dark and Snow DLC on sale on top of it because they're cheap to begin with :p
+Nickolah Lyn yeah I have played every price of doc for Sims 4 and it's really fun for 1 or 2 days but then I just can't get into it which is compared to Sims 2 or 3 when I would get a new expansion and play it as much as I could for weeks! I just want the Sims team to be able to recapture the fun that I had with there three previous games but it is just not present in Sims 4, it has great graphics but no depth 😔
Me to I watched this and redownloaded it
I think the Sims 4 is great.
Not because I've actually downloaded it or played it or cared about it at all. I haven't done any of those things.
I just think it's pretty neat that all the Sims 3 expansions are all $20 now.
LGR could definitely be a TV presenter, you can just hear his voice filled with confidence and it's actually really soothing 😂
Abi PK highly soothing
I'm going to go and reinstall sims 3 again because you just made me realise how much i dislike sims 4 hahahhaha ty
+Just Me lol same
3 is the best game by far but it crashes and corrupts so often I can hardly play it :C
VIØŁΛ I hear about people having Sims 3 crash a lot yet in my 80 hours of playing it I've had no crashes at all
***** Do you have many mods/cc? That's probably why my game started crashing so often (even on my high end gaming pc) but I can't play the game without it :s
And what is this ''high end''
I don’t like the sims 4 too bland boring :( I rather play 2/3
@Evelyn does stufff It has less content than the other games and it's already 4 years after it's release. And just look at the stuff packs. Hamsters, movies, ice-cream, laundry...
@@radwooah I mean, who the hell wants to PAY for a sim to do laundry? LAUNDRY??
I have a question where do you get Sims 2 for a computer?
Sims 4 is very boring! i prefer sims 1,2 and 3
Id rather play 1 and 2 personally
I like how it’s three years later and this review is still accurate
I bout the game for £8, 75% off and I still regret it😭
Even moreso
sims 4 is the most stale and forgettable sim game. Im seriously just waiting for sims 5, this is just pointless
God i wanna see your face when they announce that theyll discontinue the sims series 🤗 im enjoying and supporting ts4 (not in everything) but i like every sims game .
God am i a good person?
Sims 5 might not actually exist because of how sucky Sims 4 is
@@rosie6716 they actually work on sims 5
Abusus75 no i read in an interview that they aren’t even thinking of moving towards sims 5, they’re trying to milk the sims 4 as much as possible
I think of the sims series as a buffet. The first 3 games have the meat and potatoes, and then there's sims 4 with the salad bar. But you only get a bowl of lettuce and the toppings cost extra.
That's the last time I eat at Ryans.
It sucks. The sims 2 is by far my favorite sims game, and I've been playing sims ever since I've had access to a computer at the age of 7 (the computer my parents bought actually came with a free game of the original sims game). You can tell the creators really put their personal touch on the game. Each original family had their own complex, interrelated backstory. The life rewards were innovative, useful, and fun. There was just more to the game, and it sucks that the sims have lost what made it special.
I remember my twins in Sims 3 had a birthday, they were gonna be teens it was all fun and games to the cakes spontaneously combusted and the dad and one of the twins died. Tragic, but interesting. The next day we got robbed. Tragic, but interesting. Just in the base game of TS3 there is so much to do. In TS4 sure there the CAS and build mode are so much easier but TS4 actual gameplay is boring, half of the time spent playing TS4 is loading screens and it gets real annoying and you just wanna be a lazy couch potato and stay in your house. just to visit a neighbours house you have to go through a loading screen...W H A T?
I hope The Sims 5 will be a game similiar to The Sims 3 but with The Sims 4 graphics
Almost 2024 I would still rather wait 10min for Sims 3 to load then even think about touching sims 4 again
Honestly what the sims series needs is a competitor. If there was another game within the specific genre that directly went head to head with the sims, the EA overlords would be forced to improve their games and put quality into the experience.
And here comes Paralives 🤣
@@mochijennie2590 They need a big studio or bigger indi studio to give them real competition. A lot of people care about graphics. Lot's of people would play the sims 3 instead of 4 if it had 4's graphics, but stay with that even though it's a worse game. And Paralives loses in that regard. By the way I hate this trend were they make everything cartoonish and bright in recent years.
"It's been 2 years..." I really wanna watch you talking about Sims 4 now... once it gets to 10 years... When I first wrote this it was 2022, but I suppose the 10th anniversary is probably a bigger milestone, so it would make sense a video about it... Right?
It’s 2024 now!
@@MooseShower ur right, now it will already be 10 years 🤯
It's missing fun activities in general. In the sims 3 you could ride horses, mix cauldrons, create robots, ride motorbikes, play football, go rollerskating, grow herbs, mushrooms and almost every fruit and vegetable, own nurseries, shops etc. Most of this unique content is missing in Ts4
I agree
but most of those are contents from expansion packs lol
A lot of those things come from about 5 different expansion packs... Not really fair to compare that to a game with only 2 expansion packs
+Kodi exactly
growing herbs mushrooms, fruit ,vegetables, and having recipes and all that was in the base game for sims 4. My first sim was a gardener, I enjoyed that.
I don't care about The Sims...
I care about LGR tho baby
Hey you're that guy
me neither, that's why that look on it was especially interesting to me ^^
+David Homan dark man guy person... maybe he reviews stuff
Heyyy, its Indiemaus! the Dark Souls guy!
oh boy, didn't think to see you here. I think LGR needs a panflute intro ;)
Cities Skylines is the new SimCity, Planet Coaster is the new RCT, and it's only a matter of time before someone comes along and takes over the life simulator. I'm not even sure if we'll even see that, considering the amount of resources and money it takes to develop, but here's hoping. I'm ready for something new.
*life simulator genre
I really wish the producers of CS would venture into Life Simulation - they make a great game! EA needs some serious competitors 😡
The resources for a game like this aren't extreme, well within many small to medium dev budgets, as long as it's open to modding the community will fill in the gaps
I was love to see someone new come around and just do that, but EA would probably take those people to court, they take so many game developers to court over every thing.
I have this vague memory of someone (possibly me) asking Paradox about publishing some kind of "The Sims" like game since they'd managed to cash in on EA's fumbling of Sim City so successfully, and the response was vaguely positive. Of course they'd have to actually have a developer to make a game like that... It's not exactly in their wheel house...
The sims 3 was way better let’s get that cleared. The sims 4 doesn’t give as much liberty and fluidity when it comes to gameplay. The graphic are good but the actual mechanics of the games have gone down since the 3.
Shall we even mention the relationship culling and sim culling they added in? Sorry but worst idea ever. Sims 4 will delete your whole family, your significant other, their family and your employees without your consent. How about Sims 4 Beloved reward trait that is "suppose" to stop the decay of relationships but that's after completing an aspiration. Oh, but that's also the same reward trait that's been broken for a few patches now.
ARE YOU JOKING?!! That's insane!! That to me makes the game untouchable...
Hadn't heard of this. I'd be curious to read some specifics of what's going on here, because I really haven't played it enough in recent months to have come across it myself.
Just get the MC Command Center and disable the culling effect.
I still cant download content in my mods folder or My Sims wont move a round. Wow that has never happened to me..I have 2 ghost living in my town now..
Lazy Game Reviews
Oh, yea. That was a HUGE issue way before Dine Out was released. Imagine owning a restaurant where you hired employees and spent countless days and hours getting their skills up for your restaurant. Then the next shift, your employee doesn't show up for work bcus they were erased from the game. It has to do with the 180 sim limit that is allowed before the game starts removing sims. Every patch removes ghosts which means any dead sim in your game and in your family tree are now too de"ceased to exist haha. I find myself having to reintroduce my sim to their family members/friends bcus of relationship culling.
I feel like the Sims creators should look at the Sims 2 and look to see what it did right. I played that game for like years and I loved it....But I only played the Sims 4 for 6 months? I felt like things actually happened in the Sims 2 and there was a lot of added mystery in the game and the expansion packs were actual things to affect the game (i.e. vacations, college, ect...) The Sims 4 is just boring after the "create a sim" part, the actual gameplay is bland. Also, I strongly feel they needed more careers. I maxed out every one, including the new ones added, so?? The Sims 4 was really cool at first, but just needed more work. (And toddlers!!)
The Dee Contact Origin, tell them you missed it but had the original. I did and Customer Service was really nice and sent it to me to download. The lady was was really nice and helpful. I'm grateful because after a few months this year, I couldn't play it with my discs.
I'm thinking about going back to Sims 3
Same
i went back to sim 3 and it runs amazing on my new laptop
TaroTea I'm going back to 2... remember I had a modern and a medieval game in there... my sims 2 game was the bomb
I went back a long time ago, and I haven't really missed TS4 :P
I never went to sims 4
With Sims 2 I feel like i'm controlling real people with real quirks, relationships, personality, etc. With the Sims 4 I feel like i'm playing with some ugly ass wax figures pretending they have substance even if they clearly don't.
@@kiillabytez Lmao since you seem to like Sims 4 so much, what do you think of the notorious simulation lag? I've never played Sims 2 so I can't say anything about that, but I've been playing Sims 3 since it came out in 2009. Back then, I played on an old Windows XP pc, then a Vista laptop, then on Win 8.1. All without any gameplay mods, simply cosmetic cc. While yes, it stuttered sometimes, it was at least playable and enjoyable. Even on machines that simply weren't good enough. And I also had most expansions installed and enabled. It had substance, gameplay. Even up to this day, Sims 4 simply lacks content. It's got more expansions than every game before it, but it feels like nothing matters. The "worlds", more like pngs, are a joke at best. The only good thing is building. Nothing has any consequences, it feels soulless. Your sims are all the same, there's so many traits lacking. And regarding intelligence: the sims in Sims 4 don't even do what they're supposed to be doing. They mostly just stand around like idiots, chatting, but not moving. The queue is absolutely useless at that point. Just look at the "stores" you can build with Get to Work. Sims pile up at one point, clipping into each other, doing nothing. I've never had that problem with Sims 3. Sims 4 is simply unplayable. It's not even a proper dollhouse simulator. You need a mod to fix simulation lag which makes it unplayable
Sims in TS2 dont starve to death if they have food to reach? Bon voyage offers THREE VACATIONS in one expansion pack, which have far much more activities than outdoor retreat as provided. “Tours are bullshit, that and that is bs” those aren’t even constructive comments, lol. I get that maybe TS2 is difficult for a player that isnt their first game and you take negativity over a game personaly, but chill out.
Honestly I knew right from the start when they said they were removing all the best features of the third one and the only thing they replaced it with were "emotions"
Games fucking lame sims 3 is still better
The thing EA regretted to see in the game is that there already were emotions in the Sims 3. It may not have given them stupid walking animations or made their lip quiver while they ate their burnt burgers, but it was still there. They got embarrassed after peeing themselves. They felt happy after getting married. They felt uncomfortable when they were stressed from work. I'm surprised they pushed "wacky emotions" when they should have been marketing it based on the conversation system, the CAS capabilities, the lighting system, and the new graphics.
You said all of this perfectly. So disappointing because the Sims has taken a huge part of my life. Kind of odd because it's just a game, but that was the thing...it WASN'T just a game. It was an amazing game to give you substance and story and now it's almost like a watered down version of everything the Sims ever was. I still hope they pick it up and move on to Sims 5...which I don't even know is likely to happen.. and start over from scratch.
They said that if Sims 4 doesn't happen, Sims 5 won't happen but we're not getting the content that we want and need.
Smashingzelda96 - I think they're just trying to scare us into buying Sims 4 by threatening to not develop Sims 5 if you don't buy their current game. I refuse! But it's not liking I've stopped lining their pockets with my cash - I'm still buying content from their Sims 3 store. So they better put that money towards developing Sims 5!
What bothers me the most is that they still haven't added SO MANY CRUCIAL THINGS, an example: toddlers.
A lot of fans won't let this one go.
Yep. No toddlers? What? I love the growing family part/watching someone age completely. But no Create-A-Style?! That's unforgivable. I'll be damned if I can't make a bed with a giant picture of Rosie O Donald on it.
Brittany Young I think simmers are just so hung up on toddlers due to the fact that your children go straight from 8-18. Your kids start of in the crib and within three sim days they're full grown children walking about and attending school. In the sims 3 I enjoyed having my sims take family leave and being able to stroll through the park with their little toddlers, teaching their little ones how to walk and so on. It all comes down to the gameplay.
Megan T I miss create a style...all the customization and options. The sims 4 in all honesty, in my opinion, is a step back in what it could have/should have been.
I can't say I miss toddlers since it essentially forced your sims to spend like 8 hours a day teaching them to walk/talk or they'd grow up with bad traits..
HOWEVER I really don't know why they thought removing Create a Style would be a good idea :c
I hate it that there's no story progression :(
Let alone story progression. There aren't even relationships between pre-made households. :(
@@ilhambudi95 yeah, basically no one knows each other other than the ones in the household, like, even the ones who are said to be fimiliar with each other through that useless family describtion,it's just there
I feel like it is really about lack of content. After two years, the Sims 3 had 4 expansion packs and 4 stuff packs along with a bunch of store content and custom content that you just don't see in the Sims 4. There was also more customization in the Sims 3.
Preach
Shower curtain t-shirts!
its already halfway through its life cycle pretty much and we only have two expansion packs. TS3 was much more balanced with expansion and stuff packs where as this just takes all the focus on cashgrab stuff packs really, I never really had a problem with them as they came out until you look back at how disproportionate the attention is on them
I agree i remember i didnt start really getting into the sims 3 from the sims 2 until the sims 3 was about 4 expansions in. i also think the sims 4 expansions vs past games are lacking so i hope in the future that changes
***** I was just looking the other day at the sims wiki and when you compare what you could do in the first two Sims 3 EP's versus the Sims 4's it just is disappointing.
I understand even the lack of words to explain the problem. Sims 4 feels just empty. I hated the fact that Sims 3 removed a lot of animations from 2 like getting into the car and inside buildings, but what we got was much better. You actually see people having kids and getting old and like progressing, literally. In Sims 4 doesn't seems like it. Sims 3 you could go around watching what's going on, in Sims 4 you cannot. Seems like everything happens without you been able to do anything about it.
Sims 3 is like the favorite child and sims 4 is the sibling that always fucks up and tries to be better than everyone
The Sims 3 is the best
+Sam Gates 😂
sims 4 doesnt try at all
+goldenbambi Well that is true
😆😆
The Sims: Guys, wanna go to the mall with me?
The Sims 2: I can pay for us all!
The Sims 3: I can provide cinema tickets!
The Sims 4: I can get you guys with my car, just get me 60 bucks.
(The day of the 'mall trip') TS4: "Ohhh.. you needed a ride..? I don't own a car... Yeah... I mean, it's not really my problem...."
I hate to say it, but I completely agree with you and it's something that's been nagging at the back of my mind for a while now. The whole Sims 4 series just feels so lackluster compared to previous iterations.
Sims 2 has always been my favorite. I was even playing it yesterday and thinking, "Gosh, this game has aged pretty darn well and it's still a lot of fun to play!" It's especially apparent when I go back to play Sims 4 and I think, "Huh. Sims 2 did this better. And yet the devs had 10 years to improve upon it." Heck there are even some things that I feel that the Sims 1 has done better than the Sims 4.
Sims 3 was fantastic as well and improved on many things that the Sims 2 didn't have, but Sims 4 didn't improve anything. In fact, I'd even argue it's a step back not just from Sims 3, but from Sims 2 only because it's a DECADE newer and had TONS of time to improve on many things from The Sims 2. But it really didn't.
The only thing even keeping me remotely interested in the Sims 4 anymore is playing challenges. I really don't know what will happen once I finish those up.
The reality here is that EA has a much bigger hand in the Sims franchise after it became a cash cow for them. Sims 2 didn't have nearly as much EA involvement. Sims 3 did, but it didn't feel as heavy handed. It's like you said, you can really feel how much the devs' hands are tied and it's so, SO sad. Sims has had such a huge impact on my life (I met my husband through the Sims 2) and I am genuinely saddened by the direction the game has gone over the last couple of years.
It's like ever since Will Wright left Sims went downhill.
wow you met your husband in the sims? :) that's so cool and cute 😁
I agree. what I miss most in Sims 4 is spontaneity, as much as LGR says it. It's very predictable. What made me silly addicted to Sims 2 was....just when I thought I figured everything out, something surprising would happen. In sims 4 everything is handed to you, and it makes it, while for extreme controlfreaks lovely, but to me...boring. I do think the developers did some things in the right direction. I like the addition of neighbours calling your sim to invite them to parties, and additions like 'Bear Night'...however they would have been lovelier if they weren't as repetitive, and despite of birthday parties (half assed ones though) having sims age, have some more consequences. Like bear night leaving your sim with a mystery bear stalker or something, or unlocking Unconventional characters with their own lives, life changing events... and not just having random sims propped up in suits anyone could meet in any situation. Also the lack of lifestages bothers the heck out of me. I realize once a child sim (who looks like any other in facial feature! BOO) turns into a mini-adult...I mean teen....I feel alienated. my sim isn't growing up, but is replaced by a completely different person in one lazy sims 2 swoop, not only by design, but by animation and character traits. If anything in the sims 4 I would have loved seeing the developers build on ways your sims could grow up, MORE life stages, more fluid life stages, more things like first dates, pimple poppings and awkward school dances. Not only toddlers, but pre- and after toddlers. mini children, prepubescent things. Balding. There's nothing worse than missing the feeling you are raising characters within the context of a life-simulation.
EVERYTHING the game is missing. I want this game, the one you're talking about. I'd be addicted.
It's 2017 and they've announced bowling and vampires ... really EA? Have you not heard the masses screaming SEASONS, PETS AND TODDLERS for the past 2 years?! I'm starting to give up with them now. I've never known a huge company outright ignore their fan base like EA... bowling could have easily been added in get together and vampires should have been with City Living, they're milking us all dry of cash.. I'm refusing to buy anymore stuff packs now though, how many Ralph's are you going to have to murder 😩😩😫😫
I wrote that comment 7 months ago lol, when there was no announcement of pets
Egyptian Rickster toddlers are already here and pets will be there soon just wait
Rebecca Simss I wrote that post 8 months ago!!! Before toddlers and pets release and announcement.
Egyptian Rickster actually toddlers did come out the same time vimpired did :/
Jalen Kelly toddlers was announced the same day of release on the 18/01/2017. No body knew it was coming it was just dropped on us no pre warning. Pets was only announced last month. At the time I wrote the comment neither were released, or announced so chill yeah?
4 years of "meh"
zegurk now 5 yrs of
meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh
right
16 years. 2030 here
5 years
6 years of meh
Coming back. Here's a question: what should've been in the base game, what should've been free download, and what actually should be expansion?
I feel like the Sims 3 should've been the last sims game with pets and seasons as expansions. Expansions expand on game play already established. Give us something new. Sims 4 is a step back and I don't see why pets and seasons aren't base. Also new furniture and clothing... if I can get it in the modding community for free then why should I pay for it?
Animal Crossing and Splatoon 2 has spoiled me. Splatoon 2 because each update gave free clothes, weapons, and stages. The last Animal Crossing has free DLC that changed how furniture rearranged in your house like Happy Home Designer. Huge upgrade and again free.
...this is why I got the sims 4 when it was free.
Ugh no, Seasons is best pack on Sims 4. Adds more dynamic to the game. But the Cats and Dogs can go to hell.
S C is there anything that actually says that? There could also be that there was bugs with the rain also I think we were gonna just going to get rain and no snow
@@chrismontano9787 it is true rain was going to be in the sims 2, and most likely the idea of seasons too... but the glitch happened so they prolly decided to just include rain in a seasons pack later.
Its a shame Sims 4 became meh. I actually liked the new style that was given to the people. They actually react properly and those algorithms are beautifully programmed. It looks so much better than 3 yet it became so dry.
It truly had potential. But Sims 3 was expanded so much there was almost not much left for 4. There is no way 4 could ever live up tp 3 because 3 became this melting pot that has massive shields around it.
+mipmipmipmipmip Yeah. 4 was almost a lost cause. There is just no way you can truly expand without it just being Sims 3 all over again. (And people beginning to complain about that)
+Jason Mayala-Eale Honestly, the way I see it, Sims 3 is like this Climax and everything goes kind of down afterwards. I honestly dont know what EA should or will do.
But if they do give up, I honestly saw it coming.
It's EA, so I have a good guess as to what they're going to do.
I feel like Sims 4 could have been better than sims 3 if they had kept the features from the sims 3
the lack of an open world was the real killer for me
+filmfreak yea it just felt like a step back without the open world
