I love how James is just good with talking about his character even though it was 20 years ago. So many actors just want to walk away and be done. I love how he remembers how invested he was in every character he's ever been. That means he put the work in and it was valuable to his memory.

Spike is my favorite character in TV history. His portrayal was written, casted, and acted perfectly. I miss him as if he was a real person.
James just has a magnetism that burns through the screen. That's ultimately why he lasted so long on that show.
Let's just say that Once More With Feeling is in fact a fan favourite and a beloved episode....regardless of the fact that the majority of the cast are not singers (well - Anthony Stewart Head is good and so is Amber Benson). It just doesn't matter. I still remember hte first time I watched the episode - it took me completely by surprise, my first thought was "Oh no" and at the end of the episode I didn't want it to end.
And even decades later, it has not been matched as young/new viewers are as amazed as we were.
I absolutely would’ve watched that Spike show. When I rewatch the show, I find it hard to watch ‘The Body.’ It’s such a great episode, but so devastating. Loved ‘Fool for Love’ and ‘Once More with Feeling.’ Definitely in my top 10 episodes. The musical could really have been awful, but it wasn’t. It gave a great look into the interior lives of the characters, what they were really feeling. Love that show so much.
Great that James mentioned Fool For Love it was a brilliant episode with the fight in the Subway train in NYC in 1977 with amazing foreshadowing for the final Season. The Body and Once More With Feeling were brilliant also.
I have seen "once more with feeling" more times than I care to admit...but if ever there was an impromptu reenactment of the episode I could do any character, no matter the song. I know the whole thing by heart to this day

Was him for Halloween, my mother being a hairdresser then bleached my hair and got me the same clothes when i was in grade 3 hahaha
A huge fan of Buffy but I too think The Body is my favorite episode for its truthfulness in the moments of dealing with the sudden death of a loved one. Possibly one of the best ever on television.

A series in earlier time where he was evil would have also been possible. Spike was a great character and i always liked him very much.

3:58 this is so damn important. Its been the death of a lot of good shows in the modern era, especially game of thrones. Clegane Bowl? Subverting expectations for the sake of it because we think that's what the fans want? Terrible results.

As for where I would picture Spike down the road, well... I'd like to think he lives close to an animal factory much like where Angel used to get his bags of blood. Since he doesn't feed on humans, he'll need a place like this to survive. But he will have survived with Angel in the last fight we saw them in and would have eventually found their way to the rest of the Scoobies. Remember, Angel did have connections back in L.A. and I'm sure he would've known about certain locations to get weapons, vehicles, or a place to crash in the meantime.
Him and Spike would've parted ways after receiving a tip about Buffy's whereabouts. Angel would've gotten to her first. Spike on the other hand would've crossed paths with trouble along the way trying to save a potential Slayer which he didn't know she was one. She escapes and runs to a location of where the Scoobies are at and tells them the story of how a blonde, British vampire save her. Spike would've barely escaped the fight but eventually heads back to the place he's staying at to rest in the meantime.
By the next day, he would've left town to find another place to stay at while the Scooby gang just missed him. This is how he would've been traveling across the map. But I think he would've either ended up being found by Willow or would have told her he'd rather stay away and work from a distance because he still carries the guilt of what he did to Buffy. He still loves her but won't allow himself to be near her knowing how much he loves her. In the end he knows he can never be with her and love her the way she truly deserves to be loved. Willow doesn't keep this from Buffy knowing how much Buffy has been wanting to see him again so she tells her but Andrew opens his mouth and let's Spike know she's coming to see him. Spike ditches them but leaves Andrew his number to keep in touch. From here on out, Buffy and Spike never see each other again unless she needs backup to defeat a major enemy. We know that after all that's happened between them, he will have her back no matter what.
And Buffy and Spike will communicate over the phone. He'll let her know he's got her back and will keep an eye out on her and the Scoobies from time to time. Andrew in the meantime finds a place for Spike and this is how we begin Spikes new found purpose/journey.

It would have been interesting to go more into spikes past throughout the hundreds of years he was alive with ( I forgot what his lady's name was...)
I really enjoyed those episodes when they went into Spike's and Angel's past.
When Buffy tells Angel that Spike has a soul now he says I started the whole soul thing. Angel was cursed with his soul and Spike fought to get his back. That's a big difference
i really loved spike character n i wished to see you with buffy again in angel season 5 getting marry , Buffy series is all my childhood you were like my family , i wish if this series did not have an end
Comparing spike to Angel is like comparing a banana and an apple - the only thing they have in common is that they are vampires - spike is way more complex, sorry, Angel fans 🤷♀️
He was the perfect choice to play as Zamasu in Dragon Ball Super.

honestly as a fan of Buffy I thought Spike had way too big a role in the series.
Spike started appearing so much I went from liking this evil vampire into going well here he is again, why don't they just rename the show Spike if he's always going to be around.
just so everyone knows I have the books, comics, video games, calendars, VHS tapes, series on DVD TWICE! and even the shitty season 8 motion comic dvd/blue ray, so I know just a tad about the show ( not much though ).
I loved Spike early on and would have loved to have a few episodes every season where Spike just comes in raises hell right in the middle of Buffy saving the world a lot.

OH YEAH!!! ,SPIKE WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITES CHARACTERS. COMPARED WITH ANGEL ,WELL ANGEL WAS GOOD BUT SPIKE FULFILLED ALL MY EXPECTATIONS AS AN ACTOR. BELIEVE ME OR NOT BUT I FINISHED TO WATCH BUFFY LAST NIGHT ,NOVEMBER 23 ,2023. DIDN'T LIKE THE END. WRONG END , LESS POINTS FOR THE WRITER.
