Thank you so much for posting this fascinating series of talks. Im gobsmacked. Would you happen to have any other recommendations on talks of this level which illustrate such a fine balance between high- and lower-level on imaging? I enjoyed Walter Schubin’s talks as well. Thank you.

Hi and thank you for stopping by! I'm glad someone appreciates this incredibly nitty gritty technical stuff. Good thing I preserved it too as the original source appears to be long gone.
I wasn't familiar with Walter Schubin’s talks, to be honest, but it sounds interesting. As to talks on the fine balance between high- and lower-level imaging, I wish I had a recommendation but I can't think of anything. If, apart from cinema, you also happen to be curious about high-end space imaging, perhaps this here presentation by Finger Lakes Instrumentation might be of interest: ruclips.net/video/-PPuDvrVGfU/видео.html (That video I actually was involved in the making of).

@@IllusionSector I misspoke , his name is Mark Schubin . I came across one of his presentations about two years ago when I began my quest to learn more about resolution, light , color and contrast . What a fascinating rabbit hole I have fallen into . You can find his material under Schubin Cafe and SMPTE . It’s wild how hidden this crucial info is. Thanks for the Astro video . Even though I have zero interest in Astro , microscopy , or machine vision - I have learned a ridiculous amount of stuff from perusing those worlds . The optical filters used in astro photography are fascinating- as is the principle of dark frame averaging . Mind blown
