Mike and Susie are, I suppose, friends of Peter.. In another song (Easy to slip away), Peter quotes Mike and Susie again.. "Susie, I guess you're on your way to be a star, But I don't know where you are, the only time I seem To see you is on T.V. It's so easy just to slip away...Mike! It's a year or two since I've seen you... I might Have dropped you a line if I'd had time Or the will........"
Before seing the All Souls shows in KC I never would have thought I would say this but I agree with you professoricon. Peter live and solo IS the best way to hear songs and I love the hell out of the band.
Peter Thanks for making me feel and vibrate with this composition at age 17. This song has always marked me and it was not until the advent of the Internet I could not hear it again (20 years). And finally, after translation of the letter get to know its meaning. Thank to "professoricon" for upload and forgiveness for my English
Gracias Peter por hacerme tan sensible a los 17 años con esta canción que me ha marcado siempre y que hasta la llegada de Internet no pude volver a oir desde hacía 20 años. Y por fin, una vez traducida la letra consigo saber qué decías en ella.
thanks for the posting, i guess you can see by my handle, i kinda like these guys!! it is so sad the lack of views for one of the greatest groups ever. i love this song although childlike faith in... is my favorite. oh who am i kidding i love all PH and vdgg peace from philly usa
Though the original song start in C - in this case one flat minus (B) - i think it sounds good. But his voice sounds very tired this time, specially when he performs "still life" (Skeletons of songs 78 Kansas)
This was the last song of the night. Peter put every particle of his being/soul/spirit into these songs and he was spent by the end of it. The most impassioned, gutsy and heroic performances I have ever seen.
North, east and west... thank you, Peter.
ah, solitude and longing ah, cowardly sweetened pain
What lyrics, what a tune, what a voice. brilliant man
+sigal alfi sigal West is Mike and Susie? what means? thank you. I am from Argentina and love to P H...please tell me my question.....thank you sigal

Why isn't this guy honoured for being one of the best songwriters ever not to mention his incredible voice
Ylennetty kirkkauteen.
I wouldn't mind getting buried with this.
What a song, perhaps the best ever written. IMHO, it is.
Kippenvel.... Een "primal scream" van het genie Peter Hammill. Bedankt, Peter!
my favourite vocalist of all time. we can only wonder at a hammil/zappa colabiration
Excellent job !! Very nice version.
Saludos desde Argentina. Bellísima canción!!!
Totally under-rated and partially unrecognized song-writing genius.

So far away...from my youth!
