Outstanding! You did an amazing job bringing back those drums and creating a beautiful vintage set. The shells were in worse shape than I initially thought. I just went through this with a late '50s Gene Krupa model snare drum, though I recovered it to look like his drums. Funny - you're one of the few people I've seen with a Tama Spartan stand of any sort! I still have a Spartan hi-hat stand that I bought new because my drum teacher's Tama kit looked so cool with them. It's the only one I own though. Cheers!
Thank you for these kind words! Glad you like the way the drums look! Since my early childhood, I just looked at catalogs and fantasized about these kinds of drums and after many, many years Slingerland came to me. It was a lot of work, but it all paid off! I am literally in love with these drums! And in their look but sound...ugh...I love it!By the way, the Spartan stand came with the Slingerland and since it's really cool to me, and it's rare, I decided to leave it in the set.By the way, I have another vintage drum set, "Tama Swingstar" that my father bought in 1976 in Munich. In the 90s it was not in my possession (unfortunately) and it experienced a real horror. I managed to get it back again, so I also completely restored those drums.
I approve! Even the drumming, which I have gotten complaints about on one video I did on a restoration job on a tuba. You sound great. The drums sound fantastic snd fat. Even thst Premeir Olympic snare sounds great. I've never been a fan of that snare. But it sounds amazing. Like Jim Fox, bro!
@draganpanic507 Yeah, I didn't read. But the other video of your actual drums also fantastic. Thd Royal Ace sounds great being brass instead of steel. Cool stuff.
Slingeland made some of the best sounding shells...period. this is a great resto!
Oh, that old-school sound, and look amazing!
Fantastic job!
Thank you!
Bravo Žile! 👏👏👏
Great job 👏🏻

Glad you took them to the wood. Hiding that beautiful wood was wrong, in my opinion… but you finally uncovered the magic… and with it came that tone.
@@BadChizzle Yes, that's right, i agree with you! Thanks!

Thank you! The sound that accompanies this video is not the sound of this drum, I wrote that in the description of this video!

@@jimflys2 Thanks again! I am in love with these drums! And I really like brass snare drums.
What was the process/materials for restoring the hardware?
Hi there, great restoration - but what finish did you use? Tung oil? Danish oil? Wax? Some kind of lacquer? Thanks
